I do have some problems with contact list.
1. If I do have a same contact in 2 gmail accounts, facebook, twitter, skype, yahoo(added contact syncing to phone contact list now), outlook, msn, etc...
how can I join all under one name?, Maximum number of contacts can be joined is limited only to just 5!!!.
I think this number is too less with people having multiple similar contact lists in various accounts.
2. If my contact having multiple mobiles, multiple lan lines, I put a custom name for each number. For example, if for John "mobile office", "mobile home1", "mobile home2". If he call me it displays only John and phone number. I am not able to know, from which custom number he is calling!!
Your suggestions and any workarounds including via rooting please
Hello
Anybody with your suggestions, advice.
Thank you
I found answer myself. Thanks to cyanogenmod7. Now more than 5 contacts can be joined.
Also during incoming calls I can see the custom number details.
Cheers

Hi all!
I have a huge problem distinguish what number I receive SMS from, when I receiving it from a person with multiple phone numbers. I.e. if I receive a SMS from John Doe who has two mobile numbers, it will only show his name, and not what number it is from. This is a problem when I'll try and answer the message later, and then maybe he has switched phones (work/private phone). The solution can't be sending a message to both phones?
I also experience problems sending SMS to the second number, 'cause the main number is the only one listed as a number i can send SMS to, and not the work number...?
Is this a huge flaw, or is it only me?
TIA!
And how do you see this contact in your contact list?
1 contact - 2 numbers
2 contacts with the same name - different number
?
The contact is listed as 1 name with 2 numbers (mobile number, and work number).
So, is there any other solution to this than going back to the 90's, and make two entries for the contact?
*bump*

Hi Guys,
Upon a few of the users recommendation i downloaded and have been using Seven for my email.
All going well, but recently i have had my mobile bill and been charged for a few SMS messages,
It appears, i may be wrong though. When you set up the seven email accounts on your HTC Touch Pro, it sends a sms text without you knowing so. I have checked the times and it was when i was setting up the new accounts.
Anyone expierence this? The number in quesiton is :07624802625
I seem to recall that somewhere on the site, or in the set-up it tells you that there is a txt message sent when you set up a new account. To a number in the Isle of Wright, UK if I recall correctly.
When I did my setup I did not allow it to send me a SMS message. The key seems to be to have the invite in your inbox already, gmail in my case, and seven just finds it on its own, so no SMS
Quote from the SEVEN download page:
"IMPORTANT
Use of this software includes sending an SMS message to us at time of installation and for each email account you register. This is for purposes of testing the reporting functionality.
The number is +447624802625, located on the Isle of Man. For most people, this will be an international SMS leading to a charge on your bill. Others may not have SMS messaging in their plan. Please refer questions regarding service plans and expenses to your network operator.
By downloading and installing the software you acknowledge responsibility for any charges incurred while using this service."
Hi,
Are anyone using this with WM6.5?
On my old Nokia non-smart phone, it had an option to send a contact over SMS. I find someone in the address book, select send this contact to, and select the person to send it to. When that person gets the SMS, the phone shows and contact name and number and ask if it should be added to the address book.
It could send an address book contact over SMS to many different phones and it would work.I guess it's a standard of some sort. I could also receive address book contacts the same way.
It was really handy when someone asked me if I had a number.
But my G1 can't seem to do this. Does anyone know of an app?

thanks... installing now
it also appears that the Dream swallows received VCARD messages. Try and send a VCARD from another phone - you will not receive a SMS. Surprises me that Google missed out on such a basic feature. Especially in the business world, exchange of SMS'd VCARDs happens often.
Please star the following defect: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2412
I am not sure how to explain this but i was exploring ROM's last month. And one of it has a feature which grabs numbers in SMS or email and then links to contact.
I don't know if this is an application or anything else. How can i have this feature on my Team ICSSGS RC4.2 ?
Thanks in advance.
More deails: My carrier sends me missed calls as SMS when phone is off and i want to see whos number is it without dialing that number.
Also, i want to see contact name if a phone number from an Email already exists in my contact list.
To the top...
Still looking an answer...
The nature of my job is such that I have more than a thousand contacts saved in my contacts list. Since many people have similar names I need the functionality to show nickname, company and designation on the incoming call caller id. I am using contact image to identify most of the contacts but sometimes it seems to be impolite to request a pose while taking contact info especially with superiors. There are some aftermarket apps which do this but they look non-sensical.
