Percentage battery indicator? - Captivate Themes and Apps

Hey, is there an application that replaces the battery icon on the upper menu? I saw this circular battery icon on some homescreens, but I have no clue how to get it. Do I have to root the phone and flash it? I am currently running on Rogers stock rom. Please help and thank you!

Yes you have to root and flash the phone. Not sure which rom tho. Try galaxy s tweaker app free from market place. You can easily root your phone and put lag fix too.

There are tons of options but root is required. Read, read, read
Captivate
Cog 2.4

Fancy widgets (free) just released a update that puts a batt. % number below the digital clock. Not as nice as having one in the top bar but you don't have to do anything to your phone to get it.

It's in the framework-res.apk of a ROM.

Removing time from status

Curious if someone can point me to a thread where it can tell me how to remove the time from my status bar. I'd really be pleased.
Sent from my Froyo Tazz using XDA App
Well if you are still using TazzFroyo is should have Cyanogen mod settings.
Go to Settings>CyanogenMod settings>User interface>status bar> uncheck show clock
You may need to reboot for the change to go into effect.
Thanks my friend

Battery Percentage

Anyone know if we're able to show battery percentage? (NOT looking for an additional battery icon, want one that displays directly over the battery icon in the notification bar)
or, failing that... a way to remove the factory battery icon?
Unless your device is S-OFF, it is impossible to do either
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk
What u r talking about is done after rooting. If you have a s-off IS then u can definitely do it. Else get a xtc clip if you have a s-on.

OR.. we could just tell him, it's the security flag in the radio that has so far stopped us from soft-rooting the IS... So, the XTC Clip turns the S switch OFF, so that it CAN be rooted...
And... That's why I said to go read what I posted in the dev forum, because what you have just posted is wrong. I am trying to stop misinformation being spread, I suggest you read it as well.
Getting S-OFF is NOT the same as getting root, root access has already been achived a long time ago.

You can use this one too, it makes little battery icon to taskbar and shows percentage
https://market.android.com/details?...ndroid.systeminfowidget&feature=search_result
I am also interessted in this, a way to remove stock battery indicator in taskbar, and have one with percentage instead NOT a dual indicator as so many applications give. I'm searching and searching but come up empty all the time.
you could just get widgetsoid which is a button that takes you to battery stats along with the current %age of battery.
it is a widget though, personally i dont like having having % in notifications as it takes up too much space so this works well for me.
This is achieved through a theme. You will have to find someone who will make a theme that changes nothing but the battery icon if you want to stay stock. Or checkout themes/ROMs that are already done if you don't mind a new look. Third option is to learn how to theme and do it yourself. Changing the battery icon is not difficult.

Number indicate percentage is too small. Bar is easier to see. At glance we can see our battery is half

Not sure if am understanding this right..
You are looking for an app to display the battery percentage in the notification bar?
there are a couple of apps which do this & without root as well.
one of them is BATTERY GAUGE - displays in a rectangular black box kinda shape.
The other is an app available for download here, its called CIRCULAR BATTERY INDICATOR - displays in circular shape with changing colors for different levels.

What's your favorite power widget?

I miss the power widget that was packaged in the original loader, it's not worth going back just for the widget. What are your favorites?

Gotcha - the only widget I used on my Moto Droid was the stock Android 2.2 widget, so the notification bar widget is enough for my needs - it's basically the same thing only in a more convenient place
I'll take a look at the droid built in app. Thanks Ben. What I'm missing is the grouped switches on one widget. That and to be able to turn off sync without digging in settings.

I use "Free Power Widget"...im just trying it out, but will probably pay for the full version as I think its pretty good and customizeable...So far so good.
Just tried Extended Controls and Widgetsolid but both have broken functions e.g. gps and sync.

[WIP] FroyoBread for the Zio M6000

Hey everyone, I've been working on a new rom for the Zio M6000. I'm starting from the stock rom and giving it a gingerbread look. This isn't just going to be a theme, I am working on adding parts of 2.3.3 into the stock rom.
I am working on getting rid of all the stock orange glow and changing it to a nice green. I'm aiming for a complete gingerbread experience, I've added multiple tweaks and have tested them for a while and this is turning out pretty nice so far. I was just wondering if there was anyone that has experience in graphics that could help speed up the process of this project?
Sent from my Zio using xda premium
What exactly do you need? I am pretty good with PS
I need every orange highlight needs to be green. The whole UI needs to be re-worked. The stock services.jar needs the Roaming indicator taken out, the time needs to be changed to the same shade of green as the rest of the rom.

Thanks. Where can I change the time color, I need to change it to A0E000 to match the rest of the icons.
This rom is going to take some work since a lot of apks need some graphic work to get all notification icons match the theme.
I've already started working on Settings.apk and added a new option under wireless networks then mobile networks... now there is a dormancy timer but I have no clue what it does.

It's not in framework-res.apk? I believe the dormancy timer is how long of a 'no communication' period it takes before you stop sending data packets to whatever you're doing. After it goes dormant, you have to re-ping, re-connect, etc.
Sent from my Droid using XDA Premium App
My time only changed colors after flashing the openzio services.jar
And the dormancy timer isn't sticking, is there something that should be in the build.prop that will make it stick?
Sent from my Zio using xda premium
Not that I'm aware of. I wouldn't think editing these values holds much worth as far as battery life, though. We're talking minutes of battery life per charge, and editing them any lower could lead to increased data usage which isn't really a problem because of the ability to remove the throttling services), but will also lead to longer page-load times, all due to having to constantly reconnect to the server (I'm under the assumption that it's measured in seconds).

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you basically just theming the stock cricket 2.2.1 rom to look like Sense 2.1?
O.O
I can do that EASY bro! Except I won't be able to complete the lock screen. May I help?
EDIT: What I'll need is a 2.1 sense rom with our phones resolution and I the rom's dev's permission to use it's images for a theme. From there on I can easily un-pack the .apk/.jar/etc files and replace the images and also edit some xml files and BOOM! There's "froyobread"
So is this a usable Rom?

What is going to be in this rom?
Shot of adrenaline
Complete red ics theme, transition animations and every thing
And a thanks to jrummy on letting me use liberty as a base for the rom,
AOSP rom later on in the distant future
Planned release date: as soon as I clear the issue w/ apktool
Please make requests in comments.

goog idea good luck!
RESTART option next to SHUT down
Better BlurCamera from Atrix
and some free aplications already installed, like Ymess,Gtalk,skype,facebook,office,...and feel free to add.
some start-up tweaks options, because i belive that less animations/sound means faster start-up.
1% Battery Increments
Build.prop edits for speed and increased battery life
Built-in permanent root via mount_ext3.sh file in bin
- GSM fix from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326310
- Power toggles in drop-down-notification
- Better camera from Atrix (if needed vs the new 5.7.xxx rom)
- Options for Universal Inbox and Default text and maybe other requests (maybe like liberty rom options?)
- permanent root
Thanks! I'll check it out once its released
Yeah all of these requests with a non black theme perhaps, we have a few black them'ed roms already. Universal inbox is the biggest request I have and the stock lock screen with stock media player, these are all I need.

i like the galaxy one better
appwidgetpicker
reboot in power options
if u can, make the ics lockscreen the main lockscreen (get rid of sliding door completely)
on the camera, which is better, the atrix or the 5.7? ive been using the 5.7 one lately
I personally think the 5.7 cam is way better, as soon as I loaded mav rom my camera is at least three times faster,
