Anyone know if we're able to show battery percentage? (NOT looking for an additional battery icon, want one that displays directly over the battery icon in the notification bar)
or, failing that... a way to remove the factory battery icon?
Unless your device is S-OFF, it is impossible to do either

What u r talking about is done after rooting. If you have a s-off IS then u can definitely do it. Else get a xtc clip if you have a s-on.

Hey I'm new here and just bought my Incredible S. Can someone please explain what S-on or S-off means?

I have written a fairly extensive explanation, check the dev forum in the stickied rooting thread

OR.. we could just tell him, it's the security flag in the radio that has so far stopped us from soft-rooting the IS... So, the XTC Clip turns the S switch OFF, so that it CAN be rooted...
And... That's why I said to go read what I posted in the dev forum, because what you have just posted is wrong. I am trying to stop misinformation being spread, I suggest you read it as well.
Getting S-OFF is NOT the same as getting root, root access has already been achived a long time ago.

You can use this one too, it makes little battery icon to taskbar and shows percentage
https://market.android.com/details?...ndroid.systeminfowidget&feature=search_result
I am also interessted in this, a way to remove stock battery indicator in taskbar, and have one with percentage instead NOT a dual indicator as so many applications give. I'm searching and searching but come up empty all the time.
you could just get widgetsoid which is a button that takes you to battery stats along with the current %age of battery.
it is a widget though, personally i dont like having having % in notifications as it takes up too much space so this works well for me.
This is achieved through a theme. You will have to find someone who will make a theme that changes nothing but the battery icon if you want to stay stock. Or checkout themes/ROMs that are already done if you don't mind a new look. Third option is to learn how to theme and do it yourself. Changing the battery icon is not difficult.

Number indicate percentage is too small. Bar is easier to see. At glance we can see our battery is half
(50%) about

Not sure if am understanding this right..
You are looking for an app to display the battery percentage in the notification bar?
there are a couple of apps which do this & without root as well.
one of them is BATTERY GAUGE - displays in a rectangular black box kinda shape.
The other is an app available for download here, its called CIRCULAR BATTERY INDICATOR - displays in circular shape with changing colors for different levels.

am quite fond of both of them actually

Not feeeling the battery icon... But the theme is worth (swype) the battery meter off, so I'm about to try the first release. To see what it do. And one more question... Do you have to hard reset your phone and reload it to get a clean load (Is what I did) or can you load on top of another theme and be cool (was running Androdena_Glassia) I'm a noob when it come to Driods, use to have a PRO2 so things are a little different. Thanks

I suggest wiping cache and delvik catch before installing a theme. It is also good practice to install the rom again then theme so nothing from the other theme bleeds threw but you should be fine

Hello everybody!
Has anyone done a battery percentage mod to be used with Nexus S yet? I have done a research but couldn't find anything..
I prefer to see the percentage of battery left right there in the middle of the icon, instead of placing a widget on my desktop.
That would be a nice little touch to the display, Im sure it will come out soon , I havnt seen it yet...
My theme has battery percentage built in. I will try to do the same MOD for a non themed ROM.

Yeah, the battery mod is available, had it just a few days after the N-S came out even. I've got one running on my aosp build (n1), as well as on cm7 alpha. No problems. Now, the custom low battery images I normally do.....well, haven't found that one yet. It's not like before.
Just the statusbar stuff, no problem.

I thought I would share this because I had a hard time finding a batt mod that wouldnt take out my backlights! I tested it for 2 days and it seems to be working great. Someone was able to configure the files somehow and made it work on the Incredible S!! So enjoy.

Unlike some others. I don't redirect your question and offer you something you didn't ask for. I give you what you ask for or don't comment. Here it is - works fine on my Vivid with ICS aside from animations not working and the background of the details screen slightly off. I'll get around to fixing that.

So how do you get it? I had it before when I upgraded OTA to ICS but lost it when I had to reset the phone and do a clean install of ICS. My wife's phone is still on gingerbread and I can get it on her phone, if I knew where and what to look for I could try moving it over to mine.
It hapened the same with my Desire S. I would like to restore the HTC battery widget, I liked it in GB and I want to keep it in ICS.
Can anyone help?

Yeah, I would like to know where to get one too. In the taskbar, there's a percentage in the actual battery.
I belive the ICS update also replaced Sense 3.0 with v3.6, which doesn't have the clock widget. You can try Battery Guru on Google Play.
I don't know how I got it but it's a blue circle with the percentage in the center.

Funny i was just about to post a request here (directed by swm in the viper thread) to request a circle battery mod
any chance of getting this battery mod added? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1624316

i know mikeyxda uses this mod on the EVO 4GLTE and I think it's similar to the one on his meanrom 3D.
