Hi!
I accidentally unbranded my O2-Germany SGS with the KIES reg-hack thing. Since it seems that their official froyo is now available, is there a way to update to this version an rebrand the thing (e.g. this would be helpful for service )
greetings

Use the same version of Kies and same reg hack method but change the registry codes / keys to what they were originally. if you don't have the original codes, there is a thread on this forum which gives details of the original keys.
/don't update Kies because apparently the reg hack method no longer works

Afaik O2 didn't officially release their branded FroYo FW yet. This one should be the latest (available from SamsungFUS):
I9000AOJM1/I9000VIAJM1/I9000AOJM1/I9000AOJM1
ProductCode: GT-I9000HKDVIA

Probably yes and if not you can always use the reg hack to make kies think you are on an older official rom from your region and it should show you the correct update.
I need Registry settings for Galaxy S Eclair based phone... possible JG4 version.
I need it , so I can update my Galaxy S to Official Froyo When available....
I am looking for Following Registry keys...
- SoftwareRevision
- HIDSWVER
Thanks a lot in Advance....Please help.
Not going to happen anymore. Wait for the official update. The reg hack for I9000XXJF3/I9000SWC/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3 doesn't work no more.

Just flash the Indian JG4 ROM from samfirmware using ODIN. At least that's what I plan to do once the India Froyo is released (I updated to the Nordic JP6/JPM via the registry hack last weekend).
PS: I do have the original registry key settings on my home computer, if no other Indian user responds to you till then I will send you the key today evening.
Edit: Looks like KannanX10 has provided what you need.

Here you go
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000DDJG4/I9000DDJG4/I9000DDJG4/I9000DDJG4"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKAINU"
"HIDSWVER" = I9000DDJG4/I9000ODDJG4/I9000DDJG4/I9000DDJG4
This is all you need. If you want to flash back to DDJG4 then:
"SoftwareRevision"="I9000DDJF3/I9000ODDJF3/I9000DDJF3/I9000DDJF3"
"ProductCode"="GT-I9000HKAINU"
"HIDSWVER"="I9000DDJF3/I9000ODDJF3/I9000DDJF3/I9000DDJF3
Thanks Mate ... Really helped.

hi! i'm from romania and i've made that registry trick to update my sgs to finland froyo a while ago..now i checked and it seems to be a new update JPA..browsing the xda forum i found out that there is also an 2.2.1 update..does it worth it to update to 2.2.1 ??
and now that froyo is available also in romania, could i make some reg trick to update the one here? and again, would be worth it?

Hi folks. I've searched the forum and can't find anything that specifically addresses this particular issue.
I bought my SGS I9000 unlocked in Egypt (yes, I was recently evacuated) with 2.1 and have updated via KIES to 2.2. My phone is rooted and has the Arabic firmware.
My currently installed versions are:
PDA: I9000JPJPG
Phone: I9000JXJPE
CSC: I9000JPJPF
I don't want the Arabic Firmware and want to permanently change to a US firmware BEFORE 2.3 is released and I want to retain the KIES upgrade capability. My question is this: How do I change the permanent location of my phone so all future KIES upgrades will be automatic? Thanks.

Just curious, why do you want to retain KIEs upgrade capability in the first place?
Well basically I jusy want to retain my apps (I know about and have AppBrain) and I want the phone to be as though it was bought here.

Hi everyone
I just got myself an I9000(UK) and it is still running on Android 2.1.
The latest firmware Kies offer me is PDA:JS3 / PHONE:JS1 / CSC:JS2 (VOD), seems like much older than the Gingerbread. I know Samsung has now pulled back the Gingerbread update but I notice people are talking about JS5/JS8 in the forum, can I download these relatively update firmware from Kies?
I understand root is not that hard. Of cause I want a fast phone but honestly stability is quite important to me as well. With so many combinations between PDA and PHONE firmware, I just don’t want to use too much time to try them all.
So in short is there anyway I can download some relatively update firmware from Kies?
Thank you very much
Depends upon the phone provider and its Product code .
O2 UK phone will match its firmware and hardware ID and O2 product code on Kies server likewise Voda Orange etc .
If for instance your phone was bought from O2 then you get the latest firmware from O2 does not matter what sim you are using .
Yours is a Vodaphone product so its them that update .
PDA:JS3 / PHONE:JS1 / CSC:JS2 (VOD Looks like latest firmware 2.2.1 and is significantly faster than Eclair ..
Just update via Kies and wait until 2.3 is released .
You cannot have Gingerbread until it is released by Samsung and uploaded/modified by the relevant phone providers .

Thanks for your reply.
I notice people are talking about JS5/JS8 in the forum, what is the difference between newer JS5/JS8 and JS3? only miner debug or more functions added?

Difficult to see some visible difference, as always most of people said that the latest is faster (placebo effect ?). The JSx ROM are very good in fact, no real need to upgrade from JS3 to JS8 as far I know (I can be wrong !).
If you want to flash official ROM via Odin, you can use the EXCELLENT CheckFus from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032437
