Is there any way someone could port the apps (such as messaging, phone, and mail) from the windows phone 7 OS to droid? Or at least theme the apps so they look similar? I would do it myself but Im not the most tech-savy person.
Thanks In Advance

Hi, is there any chance to have a default android launcher and homescreen and actually all plain android system without these samsungs rubbish, what I mean - is any other similar android device on market which have plain android software and maybe we can just port (copy with or without modification) them into our device ?
Any advice ? which device is the closest to SGS ?
I know there is a few 3rd party launchers around but I wish to start to mod my phone from really basics, second thing samsung tWlauncher and other samsung apps are really poor. I am really beginner with android but if there is full SDK from google maybe we can just compile a new versions of launcher and any other components ?
Not at the moment but my guess is that when samsung gives us froyo (sometime in august) a vanilla version will be along in no time
Hi. I am a graphics guy not a coding guy to start out, and i love zune home and metro ui launchers for my droid 2. And i wonder if it is possible to program a new contacts, text, gmail, phone, etc.. app that looks like metro ui but still has all the functionality of the origional app? Idk if this is a coding issue or a hardcore theme making issue? Any insight would be appreciated
I really like the WP7 interface. As far as my ability I could help, but I can not programming, but only to do simple graphics. It's my thread. at least I tried

Is there a such a ROM that is or looks like Windows Mobile Phone???
FOR THE CAPTIVATE???
I'm not talking about APP, but a interface, or a Theme...
If you head over to the Themes section there was some work being done there (even with the potential to recolour the tiles) It was pretty neat but a lot of work as you have to place the widgets yourself according to the size you want.
You can always just run a search as well. I've seen it, just can't recall the name.

^^^ or if you dont want to do all that work then
grab launcher 7 or metro Ui
I prefer launcher 7....
Hi! This is my first post here.. Though I've been lurking for quite some time now.
I'm really interested in a WP7 style messaging app. I've used the 'messaging metro beta' by Ferran Garigga and found it unsatisfactory even without the in-app purchase. The other app (i forget the name) by bitmod dev was even worse.
I mailed Ferran and he's working on improving on the app. Till then I guess the options are dead.
I recently found a thread on the Galaxy S page for a WP7 style theme. It had themed apps like browser and MMS. If I can't have a mms that works like WP7 at least i can have one that's themed like it.
So I tried to fool around with it. Epic Fail :|
Was wondering if someone could port it?
Or at least tell me how?
I can't help, but AFAIK, mms.apk is a core system application that handles SMS/MMS. To "port" another mms.apk would mean to first decompile the app, make necessary changes, handles how it registers with the core system, take care of dependencies, changing appearance etc.
For the last task, changing appearance, you can use this script under windows, try googling "apk manager". Extract the apk, get its icons, play around with color schemes in .xml etc.

Restore Android whatsapp history to windows 8 whatsapp, can this be done, if so please tell.
Getting my windows 8 phone tomorrow.
Thanks for reading :victory:
It can be done once whatsapp saves the backup file according to your system, so android files cant be open in wp.
Hmm oke too bad, however i found this for an iphone to android.
that you copy the whole whatsapp map too android before you install it on android and then when you do it ask you if you want to recover it. This way getting your iphone history into your new android.
there isn't a trick or maybe the same trick that would work on android to windows? i can't try now so maybe anyone got experience with it?
Greetz :fingers-crossed:
You can't (currently) write into the filesystem on WP8 the way you can on Android, so that method won't work. The only option would be if the app itself offered an import feature and could pull the files in from your PC or from something like DropBox. So far as I know, it doesn't have any such feature.
