Email client on SGS - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
i have SGS and a Tab. On both I use the internal Email client again 2 exchange server (2k7 and 2k10).
But the clients are both different in speed, the tab is 3 times faster as my SGS over wlan.
Can anyone explain that? Also the tab client has a better subfolder selection. Why samsung program 2 different clients?

Hack to change amount of days to synchronize in Exchange?

Fellow hackers...
I'm looking for a way to change the setting to increase the amount of days to sync for Exchange mail on Froyo. I can only sync a max of 30 days. My exchange server is configured for "All" so this appears to be a hard limit built into the 2.2 mail client. Can anyone point me in the right direction? (ie. File to modify containing these settings)
Thanks
P.S. I've already looked at Touchdown and didn't like it.

Any news on that?
I really need to sync more than 30 days...
Gingerbread's email client has an 'All' option (or at least, CM7 does).

[Q] [HELP] Exchange contacts limits with Froyo

Hello everyone!
Is it a bug or is there some wrong settings?
I am trying to sync my address book (on an Exchange Server 2003). No issue in terms of syncing mail or calendar BUT the number of contacts: on Froyo (I tried official and leaked firmware, but same results) I can see max 200 contacts, but on the server I have more than that!!! And I did not find a way to display of all them...
Same server, no issue with Eclair...
Any suggestion pls?
Are you using Samsung Apps or the Integrated Corporate account?
I notice Exchange 2003 give a lot of problems.
It is the corporate account manager.. Indeed I did not find anything related to mail account among the samsung apps...
Most likely your company exchange has some other network or custom exchange component installed,
I have no problem using it

[Q] Ms Exchange server

We have MS Exchange server 2007 at our place.
I have 2 exchange accounts. Everything is well setup & running. The only difficulty I am facing is searching emails on server.
On my previous phone (iphone 4) i could do it seamlessly. That was the reason I moved from HTC Desire to iphone 4....
Does the Stock email app support email search on server ?
Is using a third party app my only solution ?
Has any one tried any other email apps on the Note. Do any of them take benefit of Note's screen size ?

[Q] OWA (Outlook Web Access)

Hi,
is there an app like chronobis (for windows mobile)
or maybe one like "Outlook Mail" (for IOS)
I'd like to have a convenient way of access my Exchange mail and calendar
without using active sync etc .
has anyone any ideas or successfully used an app for this on the Note?
Gary
Hi!
You mine to have a app like outlook? Not to have data on your phone only "interface" to your exchange account? I use the normaly EMAIL App with "push" activated, nearly like "online" account.
regards
i think the built in exchange client uses active sync to access outlook.
I use Touchdown (free trial available on market) to access my works ms exchange server as touchdown uses different protocols and my work blocks active sync.

I suggest you have a look at www.syncdroid.net
They have a comparative grid and an honest review of almost every good sync app for this purpose of syncing with outlook.
By the way, companion link is thier favourite... but then it just depends on what YOU need!!
Why you ask for OWA and then ask for an app ?
OWA runs in your browser.
I too use touchdown for exchange access w/o active sync... . Works well . .
FWIW prior to gb 2.3.6 (but > froyo) there was a funny obscure boog (ssl related android boog) that caused booth touchdown (in owa mode) and owa in browser to malfunction.
Because of this and that i use linux on my worksations and laptops full time. . .I use a widget called davmail (goto sourceforge to find it). DAVmail is a sort of exchange proxy that turns owa into other common mail and calendaring protocols. . .
It is not an app. . .but an application you run on a desktop, workstation, server etc... Then you can configure just about any email app (on about any device) to pop or imap email to your davmail install. . Etc.etc.etc.. it worked fine using whatever the email app is that comes stock or with common roms for an SGT.

Intersting site but no owa sync that I could see
I might try some of the software regardless

Yep OWA is accessible via the browser but isn't offline
so I effectively want to save it's data. there are program/apps that work by effectively attaching to echange as an "OWA" client and bring the info over
