[Q] FRF91 / 2.2.1 pulled from Google servers? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Three days ago I switched back from CM6.1 to stock 2.2: I wanted to see if I would get the OTA for 2.2.1 but so far nothing. This morning I decided to try it manual, but it appears all the links I could find for 2.2.1 have been pulled. No wonder the OTA wasn't coming...
Or have they just changed it somewhere? What's the address for the repository of stock ROMs for the N1?
Thanks!

The servers are down. They are probably preparing for Gingerbread I guess...

developer.htc.com probably has it

Shipped-roms definitely has it.

you know, it would be awesome if they renamed gingerbread to "HAHAHA_GOTCHA_AGAIN" before it was released. ;-)
there is so much speculation around gingerbread. it's just thick like ... well, something in the oven.

So when the servers come back up, then look out for Ginger!

HTC
THey do have it on developer.htc.com

Give me one simple reason why Google would refuse to put OTA updates online when they have millions of servers? Don't even try telling me it's for maintenance.
There has to be something behind all of this...

It has happened before for froyo.
And it is my understanding that the OTA server is pretty small in size. It would make sense because realistically how many connections does it need to support?
Then again, I am probably wrong and it's all virtual.

That makes sense! Hopefully they'll announce something soon

Well...I downloaded the latest tranquility and the version says FlyX.01 Final and the android versionis pre leak 13.
Downloaded the app and the latest Tranq release since I had a few issues with the last one. This one feels better to me than the previous. Wonder what they changed.

Are you sure you downloaded 2.3.5 RC? Or it installed correctly?
I just installed successfully. Still on 2.3.13.
Don't see any differences so far. I am curious about the changes too.
Edit: Just noticed Froyo 2.3.15 there. Downloading now!

Oooooh a new leak! Let us know if you notice anything new.
Ok, Froyo 2.3.15 and Tranquility 2.3.5rc installed smoothly, but when I tried applying Onix Gala X theme from ROM Manager, I got stuck at the M logo. Battery pull solved the issue. So I'll try applying the theme manually.
I haven't noticed anything new so far from the short time I spent browsing around the phone. I'm dying to see the change logs lol!
Edit: manually installing Gala X theme worked =)
Edit2: I'm not sure if it was true for 2.3.13, but in this one Flash shows up in the Market.
In the market for 2.3.13 too, noticed it today .

Yes... that is exactly what I did.
Okay... Not trying to sound like an ass but this has been eating away at me for a good twelve hours or so....
You are paying for an app. Cool idea in my opinion.
You are also paying for access to mods. Not unheard of.(supporting is good)
Lots of hype for access to something no one else has.
Using the hype to, in a way, make people donate for your work that is kind of iffy. I like what those guys are trying to do but I do not like how they are doing it. I just can't quite hit on the point I am trying to make but I feel something scetchy is going on here. Thus, I go back to... Paying for an app that creates access to what they are making. Cool idea in my opinion.
God I hope I don't get flamed to hard for this.... Trying hard not to be a Debbie Downer.
Those that are satisfied with the Tranquility roms will likely donate. Although I do believe the leak itself should be available to the general public.

I understood what he said just fine.
Dude I understand you have your opinion, but if you don't want to support, then you may just have to wait for someone else to find a leak source in one of the MOST locked down firmware arenas for android, TBH is doing an amazing job! THREE 2.2 updates before motosuck released its first!? They deserve the two bucks for the app. Mind you this is coming from a person who has only purchased one app for his droid x; the one we are talking about. Besides with all the C&D motosuck has been throwing around this is a resonable alternative to insure we get the content we want. OH! And not to mention tranquility is one of the best alternatives to motoblur out right now, $2 seems like a VERY small price to pay for no hassle dl's and quick update potential. Thank you again Team Black Hat for all the hard work! I see kernel's in the near future.... Wahoo!

Hmmm, well if I am gonna have to wipe for this I may as well SBF back and get the official OTA.
Seems pretty decent so far. My linpak and quadrant scores are even with what I was getting with the OTA after getting rid of some bloat. Calendar fix hasn't fixed my sync issue yet. Any idea why when I post my scores to linpak my notes show build 2.2.20? I'm not familiar with that particular version. Phone info shows 2.3.15 as it should but this is obviously not built off the official 2.2 as I've notice certain things change back to leak versions.
I'll give this rom a few days but I'm probably heading back to the OTA.
Can someone share the stock backup assistant apk with me? I'm lazy enough that I was just using that instead of a3rd party app so now I'm missing a HUGE chunk of my contacts. If it can't be used on this rom I'm doingan sbf right away when I get home.

Fast is true and easy to install when following directions. The one thing that is strange and wondering if anyone else is experiencing.

Happened to me...flash the rom zip following the instructions. Reboot the phone. Then bootstrap and reboot back into recovery and flash the calendarfix zip from page 7 of this thread: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-roms/8428-rom-rubix-focused-0-3-a-7.html
I had this instaled but could'nt get google maps to work so I went back to flyx rom. The market is stuck downloading google maps I hit cancel and it has force closed
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I also had some FC problems. It FC's everytime you try to stop a download in the market. It FC's every time you click on the battery manager to see what's sucking juice and it FC'd when messing around with the Calendar.
Because of those reasons, plus not being any faster than I had gotten my OTA after bloatware removal and some build.prop tweaks, not being able to use Backup Assistant (losing 80% of my contacts) and the fact that I actually like the native 2.2 txt app led me back to my OTA 2.2 through the nandroid backup I made before installing rubiX.
This is one I will definitely keep an eye on and will be testing in further revisions, but it's not where I want a rom to be right now.
I appreciate all the hard work that went into it but it's just not for me right now.

I'm Derek Rodriguez (thats my full name), and have honestly barely conversed with jake. He was nice enough to let me host my files through his ftp alongside with Boostdscoob (dominator/eliminator roms for d1) when we were collaborating for roms, and still lets me. Jake is a great guy from what I know of him, and makes pretty bad ass kernels.
It's hosted there, as well as alldroid, and androiddoes.net.
arlan_jacob, a reboot might of fixed it. I chose not to include market apps with how fast updates have been coming out lately, didn't wanna leave any behind and people not able to update correctly. Sorry about the issue, I'll make an update.zip with the market apps included if it'd help out.

[INFO] Atrix Gingerbread Preview [Update #4 - More Information & Screenshots]

Update #4: I previously thought Motorola would OTA to 2.3.4 instead of 2.3.3 now that I'm seeing 2.3.4 builds. But, it looks like my initial projections were probably right. We'll be looking at 2.3.3 for the Atrix on OTA. Then, there will be a separate update to 2.3.4.
I was recently updated to a newer build: 4.5.47. This build was finalized on 05/24/2011 04:46:02. We've got a month more of builds already, which means the Atrix Gingerbread update should be nearing completion.
Read more about the Atrix Gingerbread update in July here: http://briefmobile.com/atrix-4g-headed-for-july-gingerbread-update
Update #3: Some more video showing the new Blur interface in action. http://briefmobile.com/motorola-blur-on-atrix-with-gingerbread
Update #2: Netflix works flawlessly on the Atrix with Gingerbread! Check it out: http://briefmobile.com/netflix-on-the-motorola-atrix-gingerbread
Update: Looking into three new root possibilities. Progress communication may be limited for certain reasons. Also, I posted new pictures on Facebook.
Here's a preview of Android 2.3.3 for the Atrix 4G!
http://briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-gingerbread-android-2-3
Details
Code:
Android 2.3.3
Webtop: wt-1.2.0-76_OLY-1
Build: 4.5.40
A nice guy gave me this to see if we can get root and such. He requested that no one have access to the files, and I'll be keeping my promises. Sorry, guys!
Anyways, we can test out root exploits. All of the traditional ones seem blocked, including Gingerbreak. I haven't tried beforeupdate/afterupdate yet. I'll be trying that later.
too good to be true! haha!
Thanks Kenneth!
Just saw this on your website! Very exciting! I can't believe they managed to break gingerbreak on it though. Typical Moto. Is it an update or an SBF that you have?
EDIT: Someone brought this up on IRC. What about webtop?
I was given a service file that doesn't wipe data when it updates. I was pretty sad when I saw that Gingerbreak was borked.
Hope this comes soon. However i won't update anyways. Not unless you can flash back to 1.26.

I do worry about something though. Everytime I have flashed an SBF file my phone goes back to stock and I have to go through motoblur account setup and all that again.
However, with 1.83 when I flashed the sbf, it didn't really go back to stock. In fact, my fingerprint, go launcher settings, wall paper etc were all still the same.
Did this mean the flashing process didn't work alright?
I ask b/c i wouldn't want to miss a FOTA update of gingerbead.

No. There are two kinds of SBF files. Service SBF files and regular ones. "Service" ones don't wipe the data partition on your device. You're fine!

Software version 1.3 for Encore possibly coming

It will perhaps coincide with a lot of new content available for those that are unrooted or are on rooted stock within a couple weeks.
I don't know if you people ever figured out the OTA mechanism for B&N updates for certain. Everytime someone claims they know the answer it ends up like how people who present the definite answer on how LI batteries truly act.
Given that, if you are on rooted stock its probably best to keep your nook off wifi. Unfortunately, it does not act like the original nook which indicates that a software update is being downloaded. It is all done in the background. If you need to connect online, you should be fine as long the connection is broken before a nearly 200 meg file is downloaded to your device. If you are on CM or HC, this obviously doesn't apply to you.
I don't have hard evidence to give you that this is certain because I don't know myself, but I'd advise you to pay attention. If its a nonissue I'll have the mods kill the thread. Good backup habits are highly advised. Mods that don't know how to talk to me quickly probably shouldn't be mods.
I'm curious as to why you believe this. Though it doesn't really apply to me. Also do you have any additional information in which what the update will contain?

Because the FXZ back to .902 is BLOCKED on the new release.
Worse yet, you can't go forward without a full 905 or ICS FXZ, either. If you do this leak, you WILL be stuck. If you attempt to FXZ to 902, you will soft brick your phone. You have been warned.
Dumb. You would think that our feedback on the leaks might help MOTO's development. It's as if they locked this one down as some form of revenge...
Glad I didn't update yet. I'lda gone nuclear.
It's the same thing they did on the D4 and RAZR. Except they had an FXZ for the version they were updating to ICS from. We don't. If we had a full 905 FXZ we could make this work to go forward. Once on 235+, however, there's NO going back to GB ever. And right now without an FXZ for 905 or the OTA ICS, 235 ain't going forward, either. That's what I call BAD.
Does someone have some method of completely obliterating data and dropping back the FXZ or some other form of information? Even if it's just some sort thing that only they can do.
Man, I don't get this one.
I'm not doing this one, that's for sure. Is ANYONE going to do that?
Thanks for the warning though!

Well that's good for most people, and good that it was able to be spotted before too much damage was done over all...
I am just failing to see the logic of putting out an open source piece of software that locks you into it. The only thing I can see is that the leaks have bothered the OS builder and this is their way of stopping us from using them.
By the way Thank you SamuraiHL for that Awesome script you wrote to update with these leaks. Works GREAT!!

I am just failing to see the logic of putting out an open source piece of software that locks you into it. The only thing I can see is that the leaks have bothered the OS builder and this is their way of stopping us from using them.

I can give you the logic. 235 is most likely a release candidate that they feel strongly will be the OTA. And moto has put a frack ton of effort into getting all the ICS builds on the different devices to be the same. This is less of a support headache for them. By locking devices to ICS only, the support costs go down for both moto and VZW because the builds are functionally identical. That's my guess.

Can't they just end support for that saying you need to upgrade to our latest software and this will fix most of your problems if not all?
Either way, correct or incorrect on your part, it'll be fun to watch ideas thrown around by people and it will REALLY be fun to see one of you geniuses come up with a way around it. You know you will. 24 hours and one of you will crack the nut.
Don't look at me! I'm not one of those geniuses. You're talking about people like mattigroff, cellzealot, p3droid, dhacker, etc. Those are the guys who will crack this issue. What we REALLY need to solve this is the damn 905 FXZ. I've put out a request for it but I have no idea if I'll hear back from the person I asked or even if they have it. If we had that, we have a way forward.

Agreed.
Open source doesn't mean that you can change the finished builds of the software or roll back after you install an update, it just means that you can make your own version using the source. The OS itself is open source, but the phones don't have to be fully open, and none of Motorola's since the DROID have been, at least on VZW.

The problem is your trying to talk logic while talking about Moto. Experience shows the two don't play well, people have been warning this would probably happen sooner or later throughout the ICS leak cycle.
Well, some of us theorize this marks the end of the ICS leak cycle and represents what's likely to be the soak candidate, but, we'll have to wait and see.
