[Q] Extended Battery for original Droid? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

I would post this under the accessories forum but there doesn't seem to be much threads there if any so this forum would be more suited from fellow owners of the phone. Anyone know if an extended/extra capacity exist for this phone? I'm specifically looking for one that has higher mah rating but doesn't require extra space or aftermarket cover to install. i tried searching around and wasn't able to find this. thanks in advance for any feedback!

Extended battery with Clear Protector for entire phone Motorola Droid
Use this and your battery life more than doubles. It is very comfortable, rubberized coating, and the battery rocks. The door is quite thin considering and fits comfortably in the hand. They are also going to make custom clear protectors for the entire phone and have them up for sale within 2 weeks.

the auction is for a Droid X battery but i'm looking for one for the original Motorola 1st gen Droid.

HTC Touch battery on deal extreme

can the one they are selling on dealextreme be used for our p6900's? i know that one is for p3450 or something.. but will the back cover fit? someone wrote there that the battery does work on our phones but the cover doesnt fit properly and he had to cut it to fit? anyone else on this board has tried this option yet or is everyone spending over $50 for battery?
I looked at the one on dealextreme along with about 20 other web sites. I finally decided on a 2400 mAh battery by mugen power. I paid 69 US for it and shipping was free at nakedcellphone.net
When it finally arrived I was absolutely impressed for the following reasons:
the capacity of the battery is more than twice as long as the OEM bat;
the back cover is thicker than the oem cover but does not have the hump;
although thicker, it actually fits in my hand more comfortably. I like the way the phone feels much better;
the chrome ring around the camera lens looks identical to the original, and as one would expect the diameter at the outside is larger to avoid an optic tunnel;
color matching is identical to the Sprint Vogue.
This phone rocks!
yea the only problem i had with the dealextreme one was the back cover.. the battery is amazing.. lasts me forever.. but the back cover is quite ugly and doesn't fit the vogue properly.. it leaves a lil gap at the bottom.. i think its designed for the GSM version .. but the battery itself is amazing.. just incase u wanna buy it just for the battery...

I looked at naked cellphone on ebay and was interested in the cradle they offer and possibly 2 extended batteries (i'd put the OEM away for a last ditch backup) but does the extended batter fit in a cradle properly with the larger battery installed? Any success here?
Thanks

Sorry for the delayed response. No, the extended battery will not fit into the majority of cradles out there. But when I googled close to 50 different web sites selling accessories for the vogue, I stumbled across 1 or 2 who were advertising that they had cradles that would fit the thicker phones with ext bats. Sorry I don't have a site to give you but you should be able to find it if you haven't already.
Update to the Mugen Power 2400 extended battery:
It has awesome battery life, like a week or more on standby. I can get hours and hours of of GPS, phone use, mp3, web, etc. at least 8 hours or more. I love the phone.

Does the battery work well now?
Does anyone know dinodirect.com?
This site is also selling HTC replacement batteries. To guarantee your phone life span, I would recommend you to use original battery.
SKU: A0324000KD
This replacement can be applied to 6900.
I ordered HTC Touch battery from dealextreme, but i never received my order so far.. So i reordered it from Chinabuye, an online store from China. I received ontime with free ship cost. Through paypal, payment i made easily and find its safe with them. When it comes to quality, its good one and brand sytlish. Rates are quite cheaper and has discount features.
Chinabuye !
I think it will better to use online Shop from China Chinabuye rather than dealextreme !
Chinabuye has more payment options and free shipping option ! which make buyer attractive to buy ! and also it has great quality products !
The battery and cover I just purchased today are these:

Looks like a really good price on the battery and I'm crossing my fingers that they cover will fit - looks like it should.
Good luck on finding the battery. These Vogues are all coming up on end of life for the batteries it seems as they can only be charged so many times.

Is this a good extended battery?

Hey guys, I've been looking at extended batteries for the myTouch 3g, and I just found one on ebay. Does it seem like a good and reliable one? It says it is 3.7V Li-ion 2100mAH, but to tell you the truth, I don't really know what that means. It also comes with a cover. Will it add a ton of thickness to my phone, and do you know if the case around my myTouch will still fit?
Link
Thanks.
Regarding your battery
Hello!
Here's my opinion on your battery.
The original battery inside your phone now is 1340mAh (milliamp hours).
The one you're looking at is 2100mAh, which for you would be a 56.71% increase in battery life.
The upside:
Ridiculous battery life
The downside:
1970's soviet era technology backing for your phone (it's terrible looking).
No accessories skins/acrylics would really accommodate your phone. You'd have to rely on a universal-type side holster.
The battery is off-brand and ships from China, the quality of these cells are unknown, and who knows how old.
Perhaps try reputable battery brands such as "Seidio" or "Mugen"
I recently purchased a Seidio 1500mAh slim profile battery, which gives me an 11.94% increase in power, whilst allowing me to keep my current backing on with NO increase in device thickness.
Couple this with some operating system tweaks and or a new rom specifically made for battery improvements and you should really enjoy from then on in.
Good Luck!

I contacted Mugen about their HTC Diamond 3000mah battery back cover

To the mods, I know this post is supposed to be in the forum that deals with accessories, but I'm hoping that you can make an exception on this particular post. I wanted to reach as many HTC Diamond users as possible, and this is the forum where the MOST HTC users congregate. I want them all to see the fight I'm willing to fight for all us owners of the HTC Diamond Touch (P3700: GSM version).
To everyone else, I am an owner of the HTC Diamond Touch P3700, GSM version. I recently bought a 3000mah Mugen battery for the phone because of the amount of high praise that users on this site gave the battery's performance. I was also well aware of how ugly and huge the back cover was going to be before I bought it, thanks to the forums. I took it upon myself to contact the company and let them know about how the people who buy the battery are NOT as pleased about the look of the back cover as they are about the performance of the battery. Below is the actual e-mail I sent them. Attached is a jpg of an alternative back cover made by the Chinese that looks to be a MUCH better alternative than Mugen's back cover, but unfortunately is not quite large enough to house the 3000mah Mugen battery. Hopefully, Mugen takes my e-mail seriously and thinks about making a change to the design of their current back cover. Please read the email I wrote them and look at the pic. Any replies I get from them (IF I get any), will be posted in this forum for all to read.......

Re: Mugen 3000mah battery for HTC Diamond Touch (P3700)
Hello. A week ago I bought your 3000mah battery for the HTC Diamond Touch. The performance of the battery is unparalleled. On average, I go about 4 days between recharges, and that includes playing LOTS of video clips and audio on the phone. The battery’s performance exceeded my expectations. The problem I have is not with the battery, but with your back cover. It looks atrocious. It literally makes the phone look like a tiny black brick. It actually TRIPLES the thickness of the phone. I was wondering if your company had plans to design a better back cover for the phone. It IS possible. There is a back cover that exists that the Chinese made for the same phone. For your convenience, I have included a picture of their design below. The battery that they include with the back cover is complete CRAP. It’s ALLEGEDLY a 2850mah battery, but it performs at the same rate as the 1380mah battery that originally comes with the phone. The battery dies after about 8 hours of hard use. That’s why I ended up buying YOUR company’s battery. The good thing is that the Chinese came up with a back cover with a design that is at least tolerable. Their back cover doesn’t quite cover your company’s battery, as it is a tad bit higher than their battery, I’d say about 2 or 3 millimeters. But as you can see, their back cover is FAR sleeker in design than yours. The only modification that needs to be made is that the area that covers the battery itself needs to be raised a little bit higher. If your company can design a back cover like the one below, but raise the area that covers the battery a tad more, you can indeed have a back cover that will satisfy people a LOT more than the one you currently ship with the battery. I have seen MANY complaints on websites about your current back cover. I have even read posts where people have abandoned the use of your battery after buying it because it simply makes the phone look too brickish and ugly. Designing a back cover like the one below would indeed make your customers MUCH happier. I know I would buy a new back cover from you IMMEDIATELY if you made a new version that resembles the one below. Just something for your company to consider. Please look at the pic below and study their design so you can come up with something better for us Diamond owners. If you did it with the battery, then making a new case should be a piece of cake!
Yours truly,
A PARTIALLY satisfied Mugen customer

2600mAh Extended Battery Review(VIDEO)

Hey, guys this battery is one of the newer ones found in Ebay. I took a stab and went for it as it was only 10 bucks. As you can see in the video this Quality of the construction is very good for a plastic cover. The cover and the device is flush on the sides, which is is perfect for me and ITS THINNER THAN OTHER ONES THAT I HAVE SEEN ON XDA. KICKstand is great too.
Take a look at the video.(incomplete due to the 256mb SDHC card )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPQ3zZLH-R4
part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U66JxD75bWk
Performance: Still testing the battery. Not sure how to, but I will recharge the battery with the device shut off and open up android to see how good the battery actually is. Seems like its using only the first half of the battery(16hrs with 80% left - I was listening to music, texing my cuz who was at bestbuy line for 55" LED Samsung, while I was at sears waiting in line till 1am . My cuz got the tv for 1500 so ) But I will try to recalibrate it.
The interesting thing was, when i first tested it, it was with mdjeejay 2.3 clean with NON EXTENDED Kernel. So, Im not sure whats going on there. (MAY BE ITS A FAKE)
But I kinda need help about testing the battery. Cause Im not really sure how to recalibrate it.

UPDATE: This battery works with any kernal available, whether or not the kernel supports extended battery does not seem to matter.
May i have link to it?
Thanks

I have both the official and this 2600mah/2400mah (advertised elsewhere) with kickstand. The kickstand will fall apart after a short time... The hinges that keep them in place are very weak. Mine broke in less than a week.
The battery life is very good and doesn't add much thickness to the phone. I would say the total thickness is about 15mm compared to 11mm of the phone without the extended battery. I do prefer this battery in some sense to the official one with kickstand as it is quite a bit thinner (guess about 18mm) however HTC OEM has a "real" kickstand...

Yes, I can use the HTC case with these 3rd party batteries but not vice versa as the HTC extended battery is thicker.
Another problem and mentioned on other threads the battery acts like 2 batteries. The controller is el-cheapo. Once you run out of juice, remove the battery and re-insert then you get another 50-60%+
but i have heard or read somewhere that you could calibrate the battery somehow to make android show the whole battery percentage. Any idea how?

Extended Battery Kit

Hi,
i've search on web a good expansion battery kit for our device, and i've found these:
Better Capacity
Good Capacity
What do you think? what's the better? The first seller has not good feedback about reality capacity of his products....
I've search an extended battery bumper cover, as this LINK but i've not found nothing
I personally don't like any of them as they will make the device bulky and I wouldn't be able to fit the device on my protective case. I'd rather get another original battery, but I don't really need one now as the current original battery can easily withstand a day of heavy use.
IMHO extended batteries for this phone aren't necessary. Just saying, this thing gets almost two days with the factory battery.

I am getting one full day with heavy usage. Just got the phone so is always playing with it.
