I currently have an issue in forcing the G/2G network onto my SGS. The issue is that in my house, the 3G signal is ridiculously weak (but the 2G signal is workable) so I want disable the 3G when I am at home
The problem is, that even when using the #*#*INFO#*#*, when you change it to GSM, the change doesn't actually apply and it forces back to GSM/WDCMA (preferred).
The signal for example works fine when the SIM is put into my really old nokia, and calls and connects perfectly every single time
I am on the Virgin network (through Optus) in Australia btw

Hi,
I recently purchased an AT&T Tilt (HTC Tytn II) and unlocked it so that I can use it with the Rogers Network. It worked perfectly for about three weeks then I took it to Orlando for a vacation. While I was there, I change the network setting to manual and connect it to AT&T Roger so that I can use it as a roaming phone. When I got back to Canada, I changed the network detection back to automatic and it connected to Rogers for about 10 seconds then it lost the connection. So for about 10 seconds, it worked but only lasted 10 seconds. I also notice that when it connects it shows E (Edge) as a data connection. After 10 seconds, it changed to 3G. As soon as it changed to 3G, it loses the connection.
I wonder if anyone has this problem. I don`t know if this is because I used it on an AT&T roaming network. I`m very puzzled and any help is greatly appreciated. Thx!
I am having the same problem. I travel to New York quite a bit. My phone would give me a message that it was unable to connect to the GPRS network. So I would go into the Comm manger and deselect the 3g. Then the phone would get a signal. I was not getting a 3g signal, but an edge signal. When I would come home to Ft.Lauderdale the phone would work fine no problems with the 3g till last week.
Soft reset I get the 3g signal 4 bars then it disappears I get no signal ! and then I get an Edge signal in about 5 seconds or so. Everything works but I am unable to get the 3g speed.
If I try to force the phone into a 3g signal by selecting WCDMA on the band I can get a 3g icon. The voice part works fine and displays utms but any time I try to use the data I get some sort of error message. Like dialed "proxy" no response or the remote party would not connect.
Do you think that we might have something corrupting the radio?

My old at&t rom doesn`t give me the option of selecting the band. Maybe I should flash it with HTC rom and at least get the voice part to work. I don`t know if the security scanning machine at the airport will harm the phone in anyway. They always ask us to take out the laptop and camera separately.
Hi all,
TL;DR: Does anyone have issues with lots of reception loss in areas with less-than-stellar signal on the I9305 (LTE or 3G or GSM)?
Tomorrow, I want to take my S3 to Vodacom (my carrier in South Africa) so that they will hopefully check the thing and fix / replace it.
The problem I'm having is that my signal drops ( (/) "No Access" sign at the top where the signal strength should be) whenever I'm in a low signal area while others have continuous signal (my partner with his I9300 will still be able to make calls).
I've tested with and without LTE on (LTE is spotty everywhere), on 3G (set it to WCDMA Preferred in one of the secret menu's), or GSM/2G (both via the secret menu and the normal one). There are places where I can put my hand over the back of the phone and within 5 seconds, the signal will disappear completely, until I take my hand away.
For reference, I use No Signal Alert to notify me, mostly because when I got my phone, the bad LTE reception caused frequent radio hangs, which would leave my phone without signal until I checked (hours) later, which forced me to switch to "WCDMA Preferred".
Cheers,
LV
Just curious on other peoples opinion/theory.
So while using my HTC One on AT&T the 3G signal jumps around. I assume its two towers one obviously being farther away and the phone doesn't seem to stick with the one that's closer. So if i force the phone to connect to WCDMA (3G/HSPA) no celluar service works on the device. Eventually I switch it back to 2G and then it starts receiving calls/sms etc. I have been to locations in the area where there are full bars of 3G constantly yet the phone fails to connect properly eventually I give up and switch to 2G at some points the phone drops down to GPRS.
On an international HTC 8X it maintains a strong connection to 3G/H+ using the same simcard. Only thing that has changed is the actual device. I've tried literally all the radios available for the HTC one and all have the same result.
If using a T-Mobile simcard and I go into an area that has been refarmed I pick their 3G/H+ just fine.
So it's not the simcard and its not the phone. I've called AT&T and all they do is make me turn off the phone while they resend the signal from the tower (so they say) then thats when the phones sticks to 3G and functions correctly but eventually it stops working and returns to how it was.
Right now AT&T offers the stronger call/sms coverage while T-Mobile doesn't so I'd rather stick with AT&T even if they suck.
So my question is.
Anyone else experiencing or has had this issue before on the HTC one or another device? If those who have had this was it resolved?
Was it a simple device exchange or were you bumped up the change of tech support eventually reaching some one who knew how to fix the issue or atlease gave more then "Please turn the device on/off, it will fix all your problems"
I'm not rooted, and have stock ROM. It's a SIM-Free HTC One. Connected to EE network in UK.
I've got a fairly new issue that I just noticed in the last week. My HTC One is my second phone so I don't use it as much, but I'm at a point where I want to get rid of it due to the following issues:
I can't make calls, it would sometimes connect but i can't hear anything. This doesn't seem to be a network issue as a user with an iPhone5 seems unaffected.
I can connect to my 5Ghz WiFi network, but not the 2.4Ghz one, it just saves the password but won't connect. I've also noticed if i disconnect from the 5Ghz network, restart phone, i can make calls and hear the other side.
Using Data network, it doesn't seem to want to load anything, it shows 5 bars HSDPA and either goes incredibly slowly or just doesn't load at all.
General performance issues, everything would become incredibly slow, stuttery and incredibly annoying to use. yesterday the device crashed and restarted.
Any ideas what I should do? Try a full reset (ugh...) or is the device faulty in some way and I should contact HTC Support?
go to the dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#*
choose phone info, scroll down to the only dropdown box and select the correct setting for your provider ( wcdma preferred if you don't have a 4G contract)
and then back button about 4 times and try it again
It seems to be the way it should be: GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. I was in France a week ago and it had serious issues roaming and data roaming, i had to change it to GSM/WCDMA auto or WCDMA only to make it work. and now back in UK, i set it to the same setting it used to be before I left.
On a side note, I have realised that EE is having data network issues in my area. I tried the SIM in another Galaxy S3 and it had difficulties loading websites, but, it COULD make calls without problems.
Also, no crashes as of today on the One, I still can't connect to my 2.4Ghz wifi router. Could the fact that I was using 5Ghz somehow messed something up inside the One?
im on 4.1 and noticed it wasn't wanting to ring or text or connect to data on 2g but will on 3g
so I tried 4.3 didn't make a difference
what could be causing it not to work on 2g signal im using o2 uk I no spare sims to try another network
some strange reason if bars on 2g less then 3 it wont work could this be a issue with the antenna
