I picked up a T-mobile Tab when I was in US and I want to use it in Europe with all European functions. Can I flash it to become equal to an European sold model?
Do I need to get the SIM unlock done first?
After I have done this, can I use KIES to do normal upgrades?
Thanks!
Bump
Still interested if anyone have flashed a US-Tab to Euro and then got it to work with Kies (doing upgrades etc).
I'm aware of the differences in modems support, but that is not an issue for me.
follow the steps
I have bought a T-Mobile tab a week ago and i have changed the Firmware with the European version to enable the dialer and then unlocked the phone with the hex edit by rotohammer first post.
So here is what you need to do
1) flash a euro firmware (get the latest from samfirmware.com)
and follow the instructions carefully.
2) unlock the device using the hack provided on the post here

I am a newbie. If I am in the wrong forum please redirect me.
My problem is that while flashing my t-mobile Samsung G tab using odin3 the power in my house went out and I am now bricked.
I get a logo that shows a graphic of a phone 2 dots and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, another 2 dots and a graphic of a PC.
When I try to get the download mode I cannot but I could get into a mode "Power reset or unknown upload mode" when I press both the 'up' and 'down' volume key at the same time as when I press the 'power on' key.
The logo would recycle every few seconds even if I try to power off.
I tried to let the battery run out and when I recharge the tab. the same thing repeats.
You need to re-flash using Odin!

I figured I would have to do that. Unfortunately my Sammy would not power down. It kept looping, off and on and when it was on, it gave me either the 'logo' or the 'power reset' message, both of which I described above. I even let the battery run down and upon recharge it immediately went into the loop I mentioned.
I tried to connect it to my PC but the PC would not recognize it at all. I checked to make sure I have the right drivers and I do.
I am hoping some one would know how to get the boot sequence working without having to physically open the pad.

If you can get back to that screen, which is download mode, you can reflash Roto-JME and get back to a working Tab.

I had to wait awhile to reply because the tab went dead - no power. I tried to recharge it but it did not hold enough power to let me complete the task.
I am recharging it for 24 hours hoping that it will hold enough charge to let me complete the task.
In the meantime I located several sites for Odin3 v 1.7 but I was unable to get the same pack as ayman019 had which probably came from you rotohammer. will it be possible to get the link so I will have the right software/firmware?
(I located P1000XXJHA.rar files but I am having difficulties unzipping it. Each time I try it asks for a password. or would not even allow me to unzip it at all)

Hi,
T849 from T-Mobile accidently flashed with wrong firmware and tab become totally dead. Repaired boot with Riff Box, so I can enter in to download mode now but couldn’t find Roto-JME or stock firmware. All download links are dead or deleted.
Would you share Roto-JME please?
Thank you in advance.

Horrible guide. Setup for failure and no support.
There is hardly any need for this old firmware. You can always run any European GB rom for P1000 as long as you keep T-Mobile modem you get 3g or use jpz modem and you get voice.
And with roto modem switcher you can even switch between voice and 3g.
The link in my signature is overcome links. It has gb jq1 rom and method to flash it.

I have an SGH-T849. Trying to unlock it. Cant find any positive guides for custom roms or anything. Everything is only on the p1000 so I am taking my chances and flashing p1000 firmware so I can fit in.
You will be alright.
I am holding in my hand a T849 now running AOKP SGT milestone 6.

I don't know about network unlocking though.

Hi ,
My girlfriend has had her galaxy s for about 4 months i recently flashed darkys rom onto it, with no problems (excellent rom btw), but now the phone has started doing menu and back on its own randomly making it impossible to do anything on it for longer than a few minutes , its like the soft keys are being pressed (but they arent of course).
I've had a google and came to the conclusion its a hardware fault and not software (ive tried factory reset / re-flashing roms/ kernels) but now i have the problem i cant send the phone back to tmobile with a custom firmware so is there anywhere i can download tmobile firmware and stock kernel to make it like when she got it ?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
In the General chat, there is a link to all the stock roms. Select the one you want and install that one. I am on t mobile in the uk and my code is TMU so that will most likely be fine for you.
By the way - Its exactly what I did last month and they fixed it fine for me with no questions...
CtC
hi thanks for the quick response , ive already installed a stock firmware but when the phone boots up it doesnt do the tmobile logo now, plus the firmware i have installed, i'm not sure if thats ever been available on tmobile , which firmware did you send your phone back to them with if you dont mind me asking ?
Hi,
I used the JP1 stock rom here. I remember now that once I installed the stock one I used the Kies registry hack to put the latest t-mobile firmware on there. Then it was branded T-Mobile again. The only problem is that now kies has been updated the Registry hack may not work.
If I were to send you a nandroid backup of my original T-Mobile rom (I did that when I got a new one!) Would that help?
CtC
I would blame the rom before the hardware and want a wipe to a very clean phone and install a stock rom .
You cannot download TMobile firmware you need somebody to give it to you unless you backed up your original firmware .
The only way to get TMobiles firmware would be to downgrade your phone to stock Eclair then use Kies to update as normal to Froyo branded TMobile or if that failed use the registry patch .
Fix on a non stock rom is going to depend on the guy that picks the phone up and the problem .

"If I were to send you a nandroid backup of my original T-Mobile rom (I did that when I got a new one!) Would that help? "
It would be brilliant if you could do that, how can you send it though ?
@ jjegan i have completely wiped the phone, changed the firmware to 2.1update1 same problem still exists with the soft keys randomly pressing themselves thanks anyway .
can any one give me some advice about making this phone look as stock uk tmobile as possible before i send it back ?
Hi,
I got a Problem my Milestone stuck on M Logo. The Logo is on the left side of the display, instead of center.
There is no chance to get into recovery mode to do a total wipe.
I have also flashed the folowing sbf via rsdlite:
DACH stock 2.0 service / Full
DACH stock 2.0.1 service / Full
DACH stock 2.1 service / Full
DACH G.O.T 2.2
but nothing worked.
I've also flashed bootloader 90.73, 90.74 and 90.78 but this didn't solved my issue.

Saying actual rsd lite you mean 5.0? If yes than try to flash it using 4.9.
Maybe try to flash different version of 2.2.1 (some other than DACH - UK, Central Europe, G.O.T. 2.2.1 - just for test).
And when you press power + dpad up bootlader mode is turning on correctly, yes?
It looks like a issue with bootloader, but if you haven't rooted the phone yet than it can be some hardware problem.
The reason seems to be a hardware defect between Mainboard and display! So I have to send it to moto

As far as I got it, this is a dev SBF, which means cannot be flashed on secured device.
Plus I am not 100% convinced XT883 and XT862 are identical hardware wise.. It will certainly help developers though as it may help them understand the structure of code groups/etc and may help them find a weakness that can be exploited to gain root.

From a quick google search, just replace "brush" with "flash" as they are flashing the ROM....using a recovery method (recommending wipe partitions, select .zip from sdcard, install, etc...).
I had read all the post in that chinese forum about droid 3 and I'm sure they do NOT have root
they said they can flash verzion machine using "SBF image", which should be leaked from china telecom(you can think as verzion in US), they use RSDLite to flash this, seems this kind of flash method doesn't required root.
and if you flash the "SBF image", it will get you a chinese version 2.3.3 modified by china telecom.
please let me know if you need more info from chinese forum

I think it depends which XT883 ROM your device is running. From memory, some of the earlier versions could be easily rooted.
- Is the XT883 System ROM rootable?
"The SBF is rootable, the OTA update is not, but root can be achived via OTA rootkeeper" - The Solutor
More info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249720&page=13
There are a few versions of ICS around. None of them offer FULL working options, mainly due to the locked bootloader.
Motorola has recently announced that most of their 2011 phones will be getting official Jelly Bean.
Have to wait and see.
Q&A for LGL23?
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for LGL23?. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.

I got the same from ebay, the device's model name is LGL23.
surprisingly the phone gives an insanely high score of 45,498 on antutu despite having a ton of bloatware.
I wish someone (DEVs) would make a custom ROM as there's no kitkat update available as of now and we're stuck on 4.2.2.
Here's hoping there would be more development for this Japanese variant (LGL23) as there have been almost 1500 pieces sold on eBay alone since the black Friday sale.

After upgrade to Android 4.4.2 ROM from Vietnam did you still have all functionality ?
- Full Seg TV
- Felica (NFC)
- Saifu Ketai (Wallet function)
Everything LGL23
Hi to all the fellow LGL23 users,
Here are some quick updates what worked for me on my LGL23.
I was able to unlock and root my LGL23 device and install a custom recovery..
AS of now I suggest to stay on original KDDI ROM version 4.2.2.
Because from version 4.4.2 you might loose some functionality (Wallet function, TV, NFC, unable to root etc.)
But having said this, the below side (Japanese only) gives some really good tips for the original KDDI version 4.2.2 ROM.

Use the confirm after 1 minute option to avoid messing up your phone !!
[email protected] dpi is perfectly fine working.
Above that its not reliable anymore and System UI crashes (probably due to RAM shortage)
--- What worked for LGL23 ---
Rooting Android 4.2.2:
I was able to root my device by usage of g_flex_rootkit.zip. I dont recall the download link, existing links seem dead.
The above g_flex_rootkit.zip package contains special version of Towelroot, Stump and SuperSU.
Downloading Towelroot, Stump and SuperSU separately from Google Play store did NOT work for me
NOTE: Dont update SuperSU via OTA once rooted !!
Installing the recovery rom:
http://lgviet.com/forum/threads/root-recovery-lg-flex-kddi-lgl23.29775/
Search for twrp_lgflexkddi_lgl23_lgviet.zip file
Use the recovery.lok file and flash it as recovery.img
This will give you TWRP 2.8
You can use Flashify for installing the recovery rom.

Other recovery.img files e.g from "thecuped" did NOT work.

--- Upgrading LGL23 to Android 4.4.2 ---
I managed to install Android 4.4.2 from D959 T-Mobile (US ?).
http://downloads.codefi.re/playfulgod/LG/G_Flex/D959/ROMs/DFUSE_Stock_KK_rooted.zip
Here are my findings:
The D959 ROM is not so smooth as the Japanese KDI version.
Just no comparison.
Please also note that once the ROM is installed 2 updates will be waiting.
(Bugfix only)
However somewhere on the way you will loose root access to your phone.
I am still trying to root again and then restore my previous version 4.2.2 from KDI as the operation is so much smoother.
I can easily change resolution to 1080x1900 which I cant do with D959 ROM.
>> Unless I update the threat I was unable to root Android 4.4.2. <<
Also I was unable to confirm the following functions with D959 ROM..
- NFC
- Wallet function
- TV
