Thats the message I’m getting on the notification bar of my SGS. I checked in the summary of Samsung Task Manager app that it says Personal Data 127Mb/128MB, so I guess that it could be referring dbdata.
I have around 100 apps installed, but enough space on both sd cards (more than 1gb on each sd card), less than 20 sms and less than 70 contacts. What could be the problem? Maybe because I’m using gmail?
You are using binds, probably in universal lagfix.
There you go! thanks. I thought I disabled the lagfix but bind_data_to_dbdata was still with data instead of false.
I just disabled it, but I ran out fo battery when some backup was doing from cwm.. I'll see when I arrive home if the problem was solved or if I created a bigger one (phone bricked)...

If you have any problems just restore earlier backup from cwm

Lol, didnt you notice your battery was too low?
Anyways, it is always a good precaution to do flashing at close to full battery as problems can occur which may require you to perform a reflash over again...
Hope nothing bad happened as they ussually do when the phone goes off halfway but since it was just restoring a backup shouldn't be much of a big issue
I got this the other day, freaked me out! Ended up realizing the problem lol but never expected it to happen.
This isn't dev so I reported it...don't want to be a jacka$$ but I like keeping the forum clean
the binds options should be set to false by default. maybe some could change that in the next release of CWM...

I was using my phone a few hours ago (adding an icon from the application drawer to the home screen if that will help with solving the problem) when suddenly, the phone reset itself as though I had done a wipe from the recovery console. I had to sign back into Google and re-sync my contacts and calendar. All my settings were back to defaults. My home screen icons disappeared and changed to the default icons (browser, contacts, dialer, market, messaging, maps) as did the wallpaper. All my SMS messages were gone. Basically, it as was as though I had wiped and flashed the ROM for the first time.
However, and this is the weird part. Not only were all my apps still there but they were still installed. All the settings were lost but they were still there. I am not concerned with the restoration of my settings or anything like that. I've got that all covered with backups. My big question is why did it happen? Has anyone experienced or heard of this phantom reset? My ROM details are in my sig but just in case that changes and someone visits this post later, it will make more sense to them if I list it in the post itself.
Cyanogen 3.6.8.1 w/Recovery Menu v1.4. Radio v2.22.19.26i. A2SD on 550MB ext2 partition. Compcache enabled/24MB.

Well, I can tell you why your apps survived, because you have them on sd card so that's not weird, you can wipe all you want and they will survive.
I would say this is a glitch, don't worry about it unless it happens again.

Yes, the apps on sd being the reason I didn't lose them makes sense. I had a different problem losing apps on the sd when I wiped but that was a mistakes in the way I was slinking and it was also on JF1.51 (a2sd is very unstable on that ROM). Anyway, I'm seriously hoping it was just a one time glitch because my setup is voodoo smooth otherwise. I finally got my G1 running perfectly and I'd hate to think something was wrong. Either way, Nandroid is always an option.
Phantom Reset Not a Glitch. Happened Again!
OK. So it happened again. The phantom reset that I described in the first post happened to me again. It's pretty annoying to have to perform Nadroid restores all the time. Anyone have any real thoughts other than telling me it was a fluke?
Possible Answer
I am pretty certain that this happened right after I used Backup for Root Users. I have my identical setup on my father's G1 and this has never happened. He has told me in the past that he does not use that app. I don't want to instantly blame the app but I want to provide as much info as possible. Cyan's ROMs are too good for this to be an issue.

The dev has reported that it has issues (if you can replicate the errors, send him a logcat)
hes on the forums on this site
SOLVED
Thanks a lot. I will try and write-up (on dev's site) of what I was doing when it happened. It happened to me twice so I don't think I will use it again (at least until it's fixed). I am a backup freak so I like to use multiple apps but nandroid seems to cover it all. I will stick with what seems to work (and work well) for now.
On a side note, Cyan's latest looks too juicy not to try out. Going to upgrade now.
Hi all I'm having this problem that's doing my head in. I went to use OCLF but was informed that I didn't have enough space in my phones internal memory. On checking it, apparently I only had 800 mb free, so I went and deleted all my large apps, and left a whole bunch of small apps about 4-5 mb in size (in total there wouldnt have been more than 30 mb combined). This didn cut it as now I only had 1100 mb free and I needed 1.5 gb to run the fix. After reading a few forums my understanding was that I had to do a factory reset to free up the rest, but in doing so I would lose my contacts, messages etc. So I used titanium to back some important things up then did the reset. On rebooting my phone I was shocked to see that my free available memory was still around 1.1 gb, and the reset was in vain as I had lost everything and my backups didn't work. Wats worse is the reset left some apps behind but none of them work! I ruined my phone and gave myself a big headache for nothing! Please somebody help! How can I free up some bloody internal memory so I can run OCLF and wat can I do about my failed titanium and astro backups?? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Isn't Voodoo Lagfix is a better solution?
I'm assuming you are still on the Stock 2.2 Firmware, right?

Yeah, OCLF is so deprecated, any thread that relates to it on these forums should be eradicated.
But isnt OCLF supposed to have a much faster fix than voodoo?? If not, then i'll be damned. I bet knowing my luck voodoo wouldnt require as much internal space. All this headache seriously for nothing - everything I intended to be removed off the internal storage is still their only corrupt and doesnt run, and everything i intended to keep through backup is lost through backups that don't work! ARGH!
Back to the matter though, how can I clear my internal storage if factory resetting isn't clearing up the 2g internal partition??
AND does anyone have any experiences with voodoo being much faster, efficient to use etc. than OCLF?? Thanks in advance
OCLF used black magic and trickery to get high benchmark scores but is not faster/smoother/better than ext4 voodoo.
Where have you been all these months and please don't tell us you are still on 2.1 or something.
haha ive been extremely busy with work over the last few months and haven had any time to play around with my phone or even come back on here (i forgot my old username and password cos i didnt come on in so long). that was until last week when i upgraded to 2.2 (and am hearing rumours of 2.3 coming officially coming soon?), rooted my phone and tried this OCLF rubbish all in the same night.
hard reset ur phone, then apply the oclf, not just the factory data reset..heres the dialer for hard reset

ok so i tried a new approach and im having more problems. sorry i guess its my inexperience. first problem was when i tried the hard reset by dialing *2767*3855#. The phone went through the process of 'resetting' the phone only when it rebooted, all the damaged apps which id been seeking to remove were still there (since initially trying the 'soft' reset option under privacy in settings, anytime i try to open one of the apps left behind the phone will vibrate twice then force close the app). the second problem was when i tried to flash voodoo using the recovery mode. i can enter the 3 button recovery mode only i cant move up or down the menu using the volume keys! fml
you need to just put it in download mode and flash back to stock.

I am filling in the info for him but he told me today that as of the update he gets freezing, only half the apps and info loads, can't see any of his text and he has done about 5 battery pulls already. Prior to the update everything was smooth sailing, he is not rooted and when he got the update he left the phone alone to do it's thing the entire time.

I agree with danifunker. Just back his user data (pics, music, etc.) up to external-sd if it isn't already there. You can try backing his user apps up with Titanium Backup, but YMMV with that. You're reintroducing variables back into the flash.
I have also seen quite a few cases where selecting the backup/restore phone with Google during the initial setup after a major OS update has caused issues as well. This happened on quite a few employee phones here where I work during a previous upgrade. So much that it's our standard policy to not select them after a major upgrade. If a data wipe doesn't solve it, a full system restore and unselecting those options during setup is another (destructive) alternative.
Good luck amigo. Keep us posted. :highfive:
hi there
after successfully installing the JB updated on my unlocked phone and all was running fine for a while
that is until I rebooted it this morning, now the stupid thing wont start. I am stuck at the triangle iconwith the screwdirver and spanner, and the 'progress' bar below..
clearly it is not progressing as it been like that for over an hour now
also tried clearing cahce/dalvik to no avail
any options here or do I have to ftf my way back to ICS?
any help very much appreciated
thanks

You just need to format your internal sd card and all should be fine, it's a fairly common issue

actually I had left it alone for an hour or so and it seems to have come back to life again..
although it has lost my security settings and all the haptic feedback has turned itself back on again
lost my swiftkey settings also it seems
piece of shizzle
EDIT: in fact it refuses to keep any security settings at all, no lock screen nothing.
lost all my texts everything, f*cking cr*p
walkman isnt working either
wondering why i bothered upgrading cant actually see any difference really other than a more colorful boot image. hoping that the battery life will improve as that is rubbish - I know it takes a while to settle.

No No No don't format anything. That would make you loose all data and apps. Let it be. It will fix itself. Could take between 5 minutes and 3 hours. It is not an error or a problem or anything. Its just getting ready.
But if you really really need it to boot, yes you can format internal.

I don't know why it screwed up your settings buddy maybe due to a small flashing error. Flash again and you will see the difference in the upgrade. Battery life is amazing. I can get two days if i switch off data, and 1.5 days with data always on. Plus multitasking is smoother and the camera has HDR, the Xperia Z's ClearAudio+ engine, notification toggles, a sexy new Album, blah blah. You'll find out.
Oh and you did the right thing by letting it be with the white triangle sign.

its an Xperia T I have in case that wasn't clear...
so I installed it from a zip in the end, rather than an ftf as flashtool was playing sillybuggers.
I should just go in to recovery and do so again? presumably along with the JB GApps
like I say it was working fine after the first time I did that, but when I turned it off this morning it went all manky
I would however like to keep some of my settings for the apps that havent already had their settings raped.. is titanium the best way to do that? or to move things to SD card and reinstall or something
also home button not functioning- at all
the no screen lock is a big issue as I have my work emails on there - if I lost my phone I would really get in trouble

Most the app stuff is on /data not /sdcard so you'll be fine, some of the data made by apps will be in /sdcard/android but there isn't much there as most is in /data/data so if you backup /sdcard/android you'll be fine, you may as well backup your whole sdcard and format, that's the solution I used and most people have been using. If in doubt use titanium backup to also backup your apps if you're unsure

I believe the best way is to use a ftf file with flashtool. I have not tried any zipped roms. They might be faulty. And Titanium Backup is the app to use to backup apps. Moving things to SD card is useless as they will be removed when you install a new rom. Always make sure you do a full wipe when you flash a new rom, and flash the kernel before flashing the rom.

I have a galaxy s captivate sgh-i897 at&t phone on t-mobile and upgraded to gingerbread 2.3.5 and like most others who have done this my phone now reboots whenever it feels like it. I found instruction on how I might fix this however I have been everywhere looking for an app called Android
sync manager wifi agent. I have it installed on my Pc but cannot find the phone app. everything is for the Pc.
What I really want is a way to backup the entire phone must the same way I used to backup my pocket pc. This way when I reset the phone I can restore everything & not loose anything.
Isn't there a backup I can use vis USB. This shouldn't be so hard. :silly:
Not sure about backup via usb, but i've always used Titanium Backup Pro app. That along with my Google acct. sync has always been sufficient. Also i would make a copy from my phone to pc of my external sdcard...just in case it got erased or went bad etc. But that's all i've done for several yrs.

Yes your gmail account is what you need. It should be asking you for it during the initial setup. Once you link it to your phone you can let it back up and restore automatically for you.

A nandroid backup along with copying the contents of the sdcard to your pc is probably the closest thing to this. Titanium backup can save time too but it can all be a bit tricky at first.
All I can say is I hope you like to read There is so much info buried in these forums that the search feature is your friend for sure.
A lot can be done to/with this old phone as far as mods and upgrades, and it can be really fun once you get the hang of it, just don't depend on the GPS!...It doesn't work too bad on some of these cappys but others (dare I say most) it is horrible.
Welcome and good luck!!

Is it rebooting or shutting down? While in use or sleeping? wifi on or off?.....There is actually a few things that can cause reboots or shutdowns and there are fixes for some. A bad battery (most of the originals are 4 or 5 years old now), a bad flash/upgrade, a weird wifi issue with some routers, an app behaving badly and more I'm sure. Narrowing it down and fixing it is possible.
I have 4 of these total between family and one set up as a media device. All are running custom JB roms and kernels overclocked to 1440Mhz and none of them have an issue other than the time all 4 started randomly shutting off while sleeping only when on a particular router. Switched routers and it stopped...

I had an after market battery that would operate as well as all my others until it got around 50% then it would reboot the phone a few times and finally shut down, but not sure that's your issue.
If it didn't have the issue until you upgraded to GB, I would guess a bad flash or something other than hardware.
At your own risk..you could read up here and flash a stock or custom rom/kernel to try to fix the issue....or sell it really cheap on ebay. Be sure to shoot me a pm if you do though...
