I have 2 major e-mail servers that i have to be able to connect to, one is a hosted exchange instance and the other is a Lotus Notes server.
I have a subscription to Commontime's Msuite software which in Windows Mobile, creates a new mailbox separate from my exchange server and allows both to peacefully co-exist.
However, in android, they rely on the ONE exchange account on the phone and this would block my access to my exchange server.
Are there any stand-alone mail apps that would allow me to connect to the second account and for all intents, allow my phone to access 2 exchange accounts?
Thanks in advance!
Did you find a client?
Just wondering if you found a client that supports multiple exchange servers/mailboxes
Yeah, I did. Stock 2.1 doesn't work, but found it worked great with Froyo (2.2) - cognition.

When i get my kaiser, i will be setting it up to sync with outlook at home (via a gmail server). This will sync all my mail with outlook, but I am wondering, is there any way to actively send and recieve mail, that would be reflected in outlook at home, on my Kaiser (without using gmail's website).
I believe this is a no, where i can compose messages, and they would be sent next time i sync at home, and where i will only recieve messages when i sync at home, but I am hopeful that there has been some change with this, as the last time i used this type of stuff it was with a windows mobile pda, with only wifi (i.e. not a smart phone).
Thanks for any and all input.

I think (and others here may have much more elegant solutions) that the easiest way to do what your asking (or at least what I think your asking) is to simply set Activesync on your phone to sync manually (and sync it only when you are at home). If you can elaborate on what it is exactly you are trying to do a better answer will be forthcoming.
this is what i have set up now:
My home comp, set up with outlook 2007, vista, etc.
My HTC Kaiser 3G via AT&T.
They sync when i am at home, so any messages i have composed on the Kaiser get sent, and any emails i have recieved since my last sync get updated on my phone.
If i set up an email account on the phone, it will use push email, and then i will be able to activly send and recieve messages trough 3g while on the go.
Is there a way (other then Exchange Server) to be able to activly use my Outlook Email account on the go, and have those changes reflected in the Outlook on my computer, without setting up a seperate account for email only on the phone?
Hosted Exchange?
These questions are specific to the Kasier but more to how ActiveSync works.
The only way that I know of to sync contacts, calendar and email with Outlook is to use Exchange. You can certainly sync POP email accounts and Hotmail accounts, even Gmail accounts one your phone and the contact info with Hotmail but not calendar entries.
To me the most comprehensive solution would be to get a hosted exchange account and then sync with it. You can install Outlook on your computer and connect via RPC over HTTPS (if using Exchange 2003) or Outlook Anywhere (if using Exchange 2007) Hosted Exchange services are not very expensive and they work well. Simple google search will give you all the details.
There is even another Microsoft Exchange thread on this Kaiser forum that mentions 2 different "free" hosted exchange servers

Hi All,
Sorry if this is a wrong forum.
I have a Kaiser and I want to setup it up to receive my office email on it. Only problem is that my company didn't buy microsoft license for an exchange server, which means I cannot setup my phone with exchange server to receive emails automatically,
Is there any other service which will let me push emails from outlook to the phone through internet?
Please suggest if there is a way to receive emails on phone without the exchange server?
Appreciate your help,
Thanks
yes
I think you just need a soft just like "push mail" and then set it in a right way.I'm sorry I can not take some picture for you so that you can set it by them.
Do they have a webmail or smtp service?

Not sure, All I have is the outlook setup for office emails on my laptop, and I only get emails if I'm connected to the office intranet or log in through the VPN on outside network,What can I use to get the outlook emails on the phone (either directly or through push services)
thank you for your help
For push/pull you (your company) needs to install the services from microsoft.
Can you ask if they have any external services installed? Keep in mind VPN is like if you are in the inside network, just through a secure channel through the internet.
I didn't read yet but if you look in the forums "General" section or use <search> you'll find tons of things regarding VPN access using WM5/6 or WM6.1
IF your company has SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) services installed you may be able to access company email like you receive gmail or yahoo (though I doubt that they have it installed).
One of the few things that I'm having issues with in Android is meeting/appointment requests that are sent through email. What I want to do is just add them to the calendar. I'm not using an exchange server, just pop3 from my isp.
The messages with meeting requests appear with the entered text and an attached file "winmail.dat".
My wife uses this to remind me of things and tasks. I used this in winmo without fail, but here.... no go.
I've read about "Corporate Calendar", which seems to be for 2.1 (I'm running Myn's Warm Donut 1.6). I've also read about Touchdown and Moxier mail, which are paid apps. Might install them to try, but each seem to be tied to an exchange server.
I understand another method of doing this would be to use my home pc (which gets the same email and requests) and sync to google mail/calendar. However, I'm using Office 2010 Beta and there appears to be little software that supports this. I'm really not sure why I'm using 2010?
Anyway, in an ideal scenario I would be able to just hit accept and add it to the calendar.
Thanks,
Jr!
Doesn't Google Calendar invite work?
Hi, I have the chance to buy an unlocked/unbranded Galaxy S, but I need your advice about the following:
a. Exchange Mail/Calendar/Contact sync, this is a deal braker for me, the only experience that I have with android was the Milestone, with the Milestone using the mail program or TouchDown was imposible to make my exchange account work, mail worked sometimes, calendar and contact never.
My company use Exchange 2010 with enforced security, I have no problems using it on my symbian devices (E71 and now N97 mini), of course WinMo phones also work without problem the same as iPhone (my wife work with me and her iPhone works), I have no partners with android phones to check with them. Asking anything to my IT is not an option, my company is large (+250K employees) and they won´t make exceptions.
b. Can I use hotmail via IMAP or only POP? (please, don´t suggest to use Gmail, I also use Gmail but need access to Hotmail)
c. My country is not android market "friendly", any experience using Market Enabler to access the market and buying on it?
Many many thanks for your answers. Regards.
I can only answer to C:
Use MarketAccess:
http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/android/marketaccess
And Eris Market Fix (found in Android Market, to see the protected apps).
I have been using these on 2.1 and now 2.2 and they are working perfectly.
So glad that I have been able to buy apps!
I can only reply to b:
imap works with the stock client but you're better off with K9 from the market (it's free) as it supports imap push and works well.
For b. you can use gmail (a. I'm not sure but you can try it)
Let me explain:
On gmail Settings > Accounts and Import
In Send mail as:
Click on Send mail from another adress (follow the steps)
Then under:
Check mail using POP3:
Click on Add POP3 email account (follow the steps)
Now you will be able to recieve and send message from and to your hotmail account.
If you don't want to do it this way look on community.seven.com for their mail app
NB! Your company Exchange administrators could (and should) in any time to exclude any phone OS to synchronize according to the company policy for security or another reason.
Question a:
- this should not be possible in the Eclair native eMail application (version 2.1 of Android). This might be possible in paid applications, if they have full MAPI compatibility.
- this should be better possible in the Froyo (version 2.2 of Android). Don't know if it works out of box, but...:
Exchange support
Improved security with the addition of numeric pin or alpha-numeric password options to unlock device. Exchange administrators can enforce password policy across devices.
Remote wipe: Exchange administrators can remotely reset the device to factory defaults to secure data in case device is lost or stolen.
Exchange Calendars are now supported in the Calendar application.
Auto-discovery: you just need to know your user-name and password to easily set up and sync an Exchange account (available for Exchange 2007 and higher).
Global Address Lists look-up is now available in the Email application, enabling users to auto-complete recipient names from the directory.

there is also TouchDown 2.0 (paid) for Android that is vastly improved over TouchDown 1.0
back to hotmail account, it works great with the Samsung push Email & IM program, i have all my hotmail accounts real & fake ones all running simultaneously.
but as metioined above if you'd like more funtionality then you might be better off with K9 (free) mail app.

the samsung modified email app push works for you? I only checked with the stock firmware i had (JF3) and didn't have push for imap
btw: i'm personally not a lot in favor of importing stuff to gmail. that's embrace and extend at it's best: they read all data for their statistics. So ok it's a google os with a lot of such stuff but i'd rather separate some things when possible. (note:k9 is giving full satisfaction, just wondering about stock)
yes i'm using the Samsung Push Email as my main email app for all my email accounts, including google
4 accounts from hotmail
3 accounts from yahoo
12+ accounts from gmail
i hardly use my PC for email now since i got the phone, it's amazing!
Many thanks to all, one thing that Android doesn´t lack is user´s support. Since the N8 is delayed again I ordered the Galaxy S to give it a try.
I can respond in general that if you going to use Galaxy frequently with GPS, WIFI, Email then carry your charger or USB plug.
I found that even with light usage the battery needs to be charged everyday which I find it that I cant use it as my main phone as I travel a lot and I need more than 2 day with light usage of phone.
Is there any posibilities that when we configure everthıng on email setting for eXchange server(fOR OWA) on nexus one (stock frg83) easly transfer user name pass and all securty settings anda configure outlok or Thunderebirds ?
I dont have proxy adress and sec set. to configure it
I've looked at configuring mail and calendering other than with that-search-engine-everyone-uses.
There's an (expensive) app called Touchdown Exchange, which is supposed to handle all that for you M$ users.
Mozilla has a project called Raindrop which addresses mobile use, but nothing's released yet.
I really want calendaring. It seems most mobile uses are a client which syncs with some server, whether it's a corporate one (M$) or that-search-engine-everyone-uses which I hate. I want my emails, schedules, todos, etc on MY system for MY use through encrypted traffic. Still looking for a solution.
With my servers (on which I've run Linux for 14 years) a daemon like Apache will run on a given machine, and is presented to other machines through a reverse SSH tunnel. The remote machine reaches into its own bellybutton and finds the service on a local port. Filesystems are remotely presented using sshfs, but sshfs doesn't seem to be available for Android.
I’ve been on an Exchange server for over year. I’m on 2010 now and the transition of my Contacts & Calendar was not an issue when I moved from WM to my N1. In your >Accounts & Sync settings, I’ve turned Sync Off for the gmail account & left Sync On for the Exchange account. The native Calendar app is the only thing that needs major improvement. TouchDown provides more of feel of Outlook and the use of Notes and Tasks. I also connect either OWA or Outlook 2010.
