Has anyone else had a problem with the keyboard? At times the keyboard doesnt show what im typing in the box, better keyboard, IME Mod does it untill i choose touch input and use that for a little while then both of those work again. It does at random times every day, anyone now why it does this?
Does this happen at startup or just randomly? ive seen this in drachdroid also, i think its a memory error or something, just exit out of the app (kill it) and reopen, should be fine.
Or its a kernal issue? anyone?
it happens randomly , i have to switch to touch input ofr a few minutes and then the other keyboards work again, even the touch input delays a bit sometimes before what you wrote appears in the box
Yea I had this happen to me the other day . No matter what letter I pressed the letter q would show up . Simple reset did the trick

I've been running Cognition 2.2 beta1 since the day it came out. Today I restarted my phone and it started to vibrate every 5 seconds or so non-stop. I realized I couldn't type anything using the Swype keyboard so I enabled the Samsung keyboard and the vibrating stopped.
Is there any way to get the use of Swype back without having to flash the phone again?
I disabled the lag fix and that didn't fix it.

Anyone else having any wi-fi issues since the recent update? My wi-fi is very spotty, yet I didn't have any problems until this update.
Also, am I the only one who can't stand the new keyboard? It was perfect before, but now it includes a top row of 1-9. As a result, each key is a lot smaller, and it's driving me nuts. Is there a way to get the old keyboard back??
Thanks guys, and Happy New Year.
Wifi ok
WIFI seems ok but the new keyboard only gives me "null" whenever i hit a letter. If I hold the letter down I get a CAP letter and the numbers work fine but the lowercase letters do not. Only started happening after updating toe XXKL7.

That's strange. Are you rooted? Or have you messed around with the OS in some way? Have you tried resetting your phone?

I haven't had any issues at the time being. Maybe something will develop, but so far, so good. Have you tried resetting to default options, too? It seems to be the best advice I can give :s. The new keyboard also drives me crazy. I'm using GoKeyboard which seems to be a little better.
Keyboard
Ended up doing factory wipe. Samsung keyboard still not working as described above. Using the Swype keyboard which works fine. Have not found any other issues with KL7 so far....
Hello.
I have a strange problem with my Note. I noticed this a few weeks ago and thought it might just fix itself automatically. However, it hasn't.
The issue is when using YouTube or Play Store. When searching for something the keyboard will freeze but only when the word begins with "O".
So for example if I search for "Opera Mini" on Play Store the keyboard will lock up. Same happens if I search for "Call Of Duty" on YouTube, the keyboard will lock up when I go to type "Of".
I've restarted my phone and tried all the usual fixes but nothing has worked so far.
This problem didn't occur when I first bought the phone, it only came on a few weeks ago so I'm not sure what triggered it.
If anyone else has come across this issue or heard about I'd appreciate some feedback.
Thanks.
FYI - I am running stock Android 2.3.6 with the stock keyboard.
I'm not sure whether my trivial problem is similar to yours. But I have experienced, yet very infrequently, that my Swype keyboard wouldn't type the letter "w" when the word start with it. I was able to close the app and back again and the keyboard works fine.
Honestly, I don't know the reason behind your weird problem. But why don't you try using another keyboard?
I've tried other keyboards but I just prefer the stock one.
I'm currently using Swype keyboard until I can figure out my problem.
Is anyone else getting multiple daily keyboard firmware update notices? They say they complete when I install them. Just wondering if they are actually sending out that many or if I have something like a stuck update.
Ive had a few, but no where near once a day.
i got same problem... update for keyboard firmware few days a time.
Same here. Just received the keyboard 7 hours ago and I've updated 4x already.
Mine goes through random periods where several times in a row it will pop up that there is an update available. Some times it indicates that the firmware updated properly, other times it says it failed. I can usually trigger the firmware update message by connecting and disconnecting the keyboard about 5-10 times in a row.
I'm not sure if anything if it's actually updating any firmware or not. It's just another one of those little Samsung issues I accept as normal. *sigh*
I'm noticing the same thing -- multiple updates for the keyboard firmware. Curiously, the update never successfully installs if the keyboard is folded around behind the tablet. But if I prop up the display with the kickstand and lower the keyboard to a flat surface (laptop style), the update always successfully installs.
I am thinking it has a default behaviour of popping up the firmware update prompt anytime it has problems talking to the keyboard. I'm getting probably 5 or 6 prompts a week. Most of the time I just click "Later" as I'm sure there are not that many actual updates.
One other quirk I've noticed is sometimes the tablet refuses to wake up. The screen stays dark and the tablet is unresponsive. The first couple times I did the physical button reset, but I noticed if you remove the keyboard when it happens the tablet wakes up and you also get the keyboard firmware update notice. This happens rarely, maybe once in a couple months. If you do see this just separate the keyboard.

Yes! Same here. Never happened with the non-keyboard book cover, but then appeared after I swapped to the keyboard book cover. It happens less frequently after (one of?) the firmware updates, but still happens on occasion. I'll try your keyboard separation trick next time.
Knocking on wood but after updating to the Dec 1 patch ASL3, I haven't gotten the keyboard update thing.

Give it some time. I updated to ASL3 firmware today and then a few hours later I got a keyboard firmware update popup.
Same as when I was on ASK1 firmware, I can trigger the firmware update popup by removing the and reattaching the keyboard 5 to 10 times in a row.
Oh Well.

So far no firmware notification yet. I remove the keyboard when I play certain games and reattaching it later does not show any update anymore. Finally!
Looks like that update fixed the firmware prompts. I loaded it last week and have not seen a keyboard firmware prompt since.
Just curious: is there any screen on the Preferences where you can see which firmware version you have on your keyboard? (I didn't find that info myself).
Thanks in advance!
According to Samsung, they said update it in DeX mode and it will completely install and no more prompts to install again, it worked for me.

Does anyone know if you can take this update while rooted?

Confirmed. Was getting the prompt every 2-3 days and always chose to install the update. Finally read this and did it in DeX mode more than two weeks ago, and haven't been prompted since.
Thanks, I'm glad I was able to help.
