[Q] Quick Question about root and flashing. - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey just a quick question...so I used Androot to root my g1 and ive flashed amons recovery. And my question now if I flashed a custom rom would I still be rooted since I used a program to root my phone?
And also would I still have a custom recovery if I flashed a custom rom because when I flash a custom recovery and reboot the phone, I lose my custom recovery and have to flash it again.
Im just scared that when I flash a custom rom and the phone reboots it will erase my custom recovery leaving me stuck or something. Thanks..

Trying to flash Cyanogenmod, got stuck in recovery

I have stock N1 on 2.3.6, just unlocked the bootloader and now I'm trying to load a custom recovery image so I can put Cyanogenmod on there, but it won't go into clockwork mod. I can't get root either. Is there anyway to flash it?
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
I went with Amon_Ra's Recovery instead of ClockworkMod Recovery and finally it worked.
Is it reverting to the custom recovery?
Edit: Ok glad you were able to solve it sorry i didnt read the other post!

Rooted stock firmware won't run custom recovery?

Hello,
I've been running stock rooted 4.1.2 for a while but my phone randomly reformatted itself last night so now I'm going to keep regular backups of my Rom.
I tried to boot into. CWM Recovery but I keep getting the stock recovery.. if I use Rom manager and flash CWM followed by an automated "reboot into recovery" then it boots into CWM but until I reflash CWM within Rom manager I can only get stock.
I want to try a few roms out so I'd like to "permanently" flash a custom recovery before making a backup!

try philz touch, it has a function to remove the auto-flash stock recovery. Otherwise there's a method in the general root thread if you want cwm.

[Q] Xperia SP C5302 Stuck in boot logo! PLEASE HELP!

I was curious about installing custom roms so i decided to try. I successfully had rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader and i just needed CWM recovery so that I could install CM11 custom rom. I didn't put the custom rom on my phone because I'd figure I would do it after installing CWM but after flashing CWM, I couldn't even go into my stock rom! I tried everything from formatting the cache to the data, I even have TWRP flashed as well but no luck there. I don't want to mess with my phone anymore because I am quite frankly, scared. So all I want to do is remove CWM and TWRP recovery, and flash my stock rom. Oh, and I tried to flash the stock rom with flashtool, that didn't work either
Thanks for the help!
UPDATE: I DOWNLOAD ALL THE DRIVERS FOR FLASHTOOL AND TRIED INSTALLING MY STOCK ROM THROUGH FLASH BOOT AND IT WORKED! SO FAR SO GOOD.
UPDATE 2: ITS WORKING. ALL I DID WAS LOCK MY BOOTLOADER WITH FLASHTOOL AND FLASHED THE STOCK ROM!
I think you could mount the usb storage from CWM, so you could copy the rom you wanted and install it? You could have saved a lot of hassle loool

Bootloop on custom ROMs; stock ROM OK

Hi all!
I flashed my recovery to TWRP and ever since then, I always get stuck in bootloop no matter what custom ROM I try. Flashing back to stock rom via ODIN works.
It's been a while since I've tinkered with custom ROMs so I may be missing something. Any ideas on where to start?

Hi,
Which phone ? i9305 or i9300 ?
Which version of TWRP do you use ?
You should try latest version of TWRP (2.8.7.3).
Or try Philz touch Recovery 6.48.4 or 6.59.
1.Repeat ODIN step to stock rom
2.Root the phone by kingroot (as it's doesn't required pc)
3.After rooting, Download Cwm rom manager
4.Install Cwm by selecting your phone model and etc
5.flash it directly from the apps
6.now you can flash any rom ( please backup your system for your safety)

Recovery

EDIT: SOLVED!!!
Hi guys! I have a question. I have twrp that I installed with the help of advanced stock kernel. But it doesn't look like a permanent recovery. If I install a custom ROM without a recovery, I will lose my recovery. Can you help me install a permanent recovery on my phone. ?
I have tried flashing using flashtool and it only boots into twrp and not android.....
Thanks !

The reason you lose recovery when installing a new ROM is because TWRP is built in Advanced Stock Kernel, and when you flash for example SLiMM ROM it reflashes its kernel.
That means that every time you install a new ROM you will need to reflash the kernel.

Don't worry, Im going to close the thread now . The problem was that i cannot flash the kernel on roms like PA or CM without getting a bootloop, but i managed to find out how to flash a recovery to the recovery partition and then enter it using a key combo, and it works quite well, perfect for my needs!
Thanks anyway!:good:
