Do you have them saved in a folder on your SD card?
Amon Ra will only see the root of your SD card. If they are in a folder just move them to the root of your SD card where the rootme.zip and 2.1 RUU are.

Correct, and I would use the 1.7 RA from Darch, much faster
Alright thank you I'm ditching Rom manager since they don't support the hero at all anymore other than the standard clockworkmod stuff I mean it is nice to be able to install without having to turn of your phone but ras recovery is much better than clockworkmod

I'm currently using 1.62. I have never updated recovery before, do I just flash over using "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" via ADB? No need to uninstall or other preparations?

I need ROM to flash with Odin. Clockwork thing is not working for me and all the modded rom's are clockwork oriented. I am actually dying to install cynogen. Off late they stopped releasing odin versions. Somebody please suggest some rom better than the stock Froyo which is flashable using odin.
My phone is rooted and unlocked.
get clockwork working properly....so much is riding on clockwork...
have you asked for help making it work properly?

Exactly i am in leaked froyo ji6. I rooted it.
You have two options. Swap in a kernel that has 2e recovery or flash back to stock and then flash the rom of your choice.

The version you are on had a recovery that prevents you from using clockwork

Hi!
I've succesfully rootet my SGS. testet wtih terminal, and i got the # sign.
Also, I have suoer users installed, and granted access to ROM manager, e.g.
Now, I would like to flash darky's custom ROM. And usually, i would boot into custom recovery menu and wipe, and apply zip from sd. (this was on my HTC).
Well, this is causing me some problems. I would rather not use Odin, as it seem a bit unsafe but I installed ROM manager, and flashed Clockwork Mod recovery. Now, when I reboot into custom recovery I get the stock android recovery, though ROM manager, says my current version of clowckwork mod is installed, and all went succesfull.
Now, my question is. Can i rename the zip file update.zip and flash with the stock android recovery anyway?
When you flash clockwork i think it just puts a .zip file on the sd card so youbshould try flashing the custom recovery through stock recovery. If not then ODIN is the way to go which can be perfectly safe if done properly.
*You have to select reinstall packages i think.

I never get into clockwork mod, so I guess I dont get the option to reinstall packages... The only option I have beside wiping and reboot is to apply update.zip from sdcard in android recovery. But I don't think there is any update.zip on my sdcard. not last i checked at least. Guess Ill have to go with Odin then :/
Usually the option to reinstall packages is on stock recovery. I might be wrong but odin is easy to do if you get the right firmware for your phone. Sorry i ciuldnt help more.

I think im on android recovery (3e) as I recall, perhaps they removed it
I was wandering. I found the clockworkmod.zip /recovery_update.zip on the sd-card. if I move this to root of sdcard and rename to update.zip, can I then flash it via android recovery with the "apply update.zip from sdcard" function, or is this not for the purpose?
That might work, you may aswell try butif not try looking at the url i posted and see if it helps. If not then im sorry for wasting your time :S

thanks, but i think Im caught in between... i cant choose reinstall packages, and I need to get back to stock kernel...
got download mode to work now, and think I know what to do from here. thanks for the link and response
Finally - reverted back to stock android recovery 2e and flash clockworkmod recovery.... but - a new problem... when in clockworkmod, i need to choose zip from sd card, when i go into this, and choose external sd, it says no files
what to do? the files are there, when I put in the sd card in the PC the files are there...
Not entirely sure but i think you're meant to put the .zip on the internal sd. If not then maybe the sd card is not fat32 format. This is only speculation :S

FYI, I am new to the game
Been doing a lot of research and decided to root with Z4 and to use Rom Manager (rooting isn't the issue). Flash ClockworkMod Recovery works fine. My problem - When attempting to Reboot into Recovery my hero attempts to reboot but stays at the opening HTC image.
Any ideas?
Try to make it go into recovery through ADB. I think that's the command program. Not sure. I'm very forgetful today.
Open up Rom Manager and flash alternate recovery then re-flash Clockwork Recovery. Hope that helps

I have no computer right now and I've tried flashing recovery images through terminal emulator but with no success. I downloaded a HERCIMG.zip that contains clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 recovery but hboot won't read it? It keeps saying 'no image found HERCIMG.zip' when I'm in the hboot section of bootloader. Anybody know why its not finding the HERCIMG.zip file? I'm at my wits end and am about to shoot this phone. Please help if you know anything.

I had this issue when I was pushing hercimgs to the sd card through adb without deleting the old (invalid) one first. Try deleting the hercimg from the card, empty the trash and manually add it again, then reboot to hboot. Don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me.

Are you actually rooted? Have you tried installing ROM Manager from market and installing a recovery through that?
Yes, rooted with superuser and everything. ROM manager isn't seeming to flash the clockwork or RA recovery at all. Everytime I try to go into recovery mode, it sticks at the HTC screen.

a couple of times when I've used rom manager to flash recovery, I haven't been able to boot into it by any other means than by using the reboot recovery button in rom manager.

Did you open up the hercimg and make sure the recovery was in there??? Also did you check to make sure the zip was named correctly??? As in HERCIMG.ZIP and not zip.zip

Yep. Everything is named correctly. But now the main problem is; why is it seeming like a successful flash (via terminal and Rom manager) then not booting in to recovery?

Well don't I feel stupid. HERCIMG.ZIP not HERCIMG.zip. well it worked and I got the recovery working but its not letting me glasnost ANY other recovery than cwm 3 :/
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure the reason rom manager was failing is because you had an unsupported version 3.0.0.5. Try this: rename that image to version 2.5.0.1 or 2.5.0.7 (leave the rest of the image name the same) so rom manager agrees with it and then try to flash a different one. Also afaik if you have rom manager it doesn't want you to use TE either, so it may disallow flashing thru there. Yet another reason I dislike rom manager, you should just delete it If you can flash a recovery using a HERCIMG.zip (I assume this means you are s-off) it will take any recovery you give it, there are no safety checks or signature checks at all.
Hey Guys,
This may be a stupid question but here goes... Hopefully it doesn't upset a MOD
I manually installed CWM on my Incredible S, later I got ROM manager. When I start rom manager it tells me that I don't have CWM installed, but I have 4EXTRecovery v2.1.0 RC1. Is there something I'm missing and... what would happen if I loaded ROM Manager and click the install Clockwork Mod button?? I'm a little nervous about trying it and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
All CWM does is put an update.zip file in your SD card. When you reboot into recovery through rom manager it flashes the update.zip and you use clockwork mod recovery. When you reboot into recovery again you will be back at 4EXTRecovery.

Just noticed I think ROM manager actually permenantly replaces 4ext recovery. You can always reinstall 4ext with a .zip file though.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
I noticed that as well and I reinstalled 4EXT after. Not a big deal, thanks again for the help.
if you have EXT4 installed and IMO it's by far the best recovery available for us then once in rom manager use the manual flash over ride option rather than installing CWM
