THIS IS FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE ENTERED THE APN SETTINGS AND CANNOT ACTUALLY CONNECT TO THE 850MHZ BAND
WARNING: FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE WILL WIPE ALL DATA YOUR PHONE (minus the SD Cards)
Flash back to UGJG8 available on samfirmware.com. (Odin 3 + 512 pit)
Open the dialer and enter *#272*xxxx#
The above x's are the current time. So for 2:15pm, you would enter 0215.
Select BMC and then Install.
Wait till the phone reboots.
Your radio should now have the 850mhz band working again.
Feel free to flash back to UGJH2 again.
Just want to add, as long as you flash JUST the code in ODIN you should never lose 850Mhz again after doing this.
Would be nice if we could extract the CSC from the rom and never have to worry about downgrading again if we mess up.
Bumping this as it seems there are still people with the issue...

What is the best way to verify that the phone has lost 850 MHz?
Where does one find the APN settings and where are they entered?
I don't have this issue myself, but it would be very nice if this was a bigger single reference.
EDIT: I missed this, APN settings are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769400
And does Bell use only 850 MHz for 3G?
Not sure if they ONLY use 850MHZ. When I had the issue I had perfect coverage in the city center. But absolutely none on the outskirts where I live. I couldn't even connect to the network for data calls. After a few hours of messing with it to get it back, I tried what's in my original post and thankfully it worked.

In my experience all you have to do is flash any Bell 2.1 rom again via ODIN to restore your America/Aussie radio, I suggest JH2 instead as the OS and Radio are both newer in that build. You can flash whatever 2.1 ROM you want as long as you don't go to a 2.2 radio you will be fine. I know because this was the first thing I did, and basically one of the big reasons I bought this model, so I can flash away all like a regular i9000m just keeping my bell radio. I'm on AT&T and I get HSPDA/HSPUA 24/7.
You can do this on HTC devices, as they usually just release radios by themself to flash alone via stock recovery/clockwork/whatever. So I was glad to see Samsung didn't jack that around and make one rom use a specific radio only. That would have sucked hard, as you can get better service with others.

Myself, and a couple of other people have had the issue where flashing back to UGJH2 simply does not restore the 850MHZ band, hence this thread. I flashed the new HK JP2 and it worked fine. However, I completely lost connectivity to the 850MHZ band. I flashed back to UGJH2, which did not fix it, went back to the new JP2 again, still nothing. After hours of torture, I finally tried the CSC method in UGJG8 and it worked. 850MHZ restored!
Obviously, you've never had the issue where you've had to use this tutorial. When using UGJH2, which I currently am, you cannot use the *#272*xxxx# code. It simply does not work. However, it does work in UGJG8, and lets you select the BMC CSC which is what fixes the problem.
I do however agree that we should always go with the most recent radio, which is why I went back to UGJH2 after fixing my issue in UGJG8.
I def lost 850 mhz band, i flashed to the new Froyo JPC for a few days and it was a disaster, flashed back to UGJ8 now, and installed BMC, looks good
but one thing bothered me, when I put in the code, above the BMC
It said: Sales Code: KOR
Is that normal, or has JPC transformed my phone to a Korean Model permanently (can this be fixed), and what are the effects of this, will I be able to receive the OTA and flash froyo when its out normally?
Thanks

Under the thread about the JPC update they talk about this very issue.
Did you guys flash the CSC and the MODEM or just the CSC for JG8?

You need the whole rom, CSC and PDA to be able to activate the CSC. Modem shouldn't matter, but I did flash it as well as everything was packaged in a single .tar file for me,
Is it possible to go to XWJM8 without flashing the modem? Or, is there another compatible Bell modem that can be used instead?
I flashed the XXJM4 modem and I'm pretty sure I lost 850MHz.

Did you guys flash with the BMC CSC?
I flashed JM8 Code with the JM4 modem and the BMC JH2 CSC and my phone came up with the BMC sales code and Bell APN's. I do have to add the pda.bell apn after. All of the inet ones are there. I have yet to find a CSC that has the pda.bell.ca APN pre-loaded.
Here is a link to different CSC's as well as Richtofen's release.

XWJM8 CODE and XXJM4 MODEM work but not properly: they don't let you use 850MHz. I think that on Bell we need to use a UG MODEM.
Maybe Richtofen could split out the MODEM as well as the CSC.
Hi,
I flashed the latest stable CM7 for the i9000 last night and now i can't get 3G signal. I flashed back to the stock Bell rom and everything worked fine, but when I put CM7 I only get a roaming signal.
I'm on Fido in Montreal and I've put the correct fido apn, but the phone recognizes the sim as CAN Rogers Wireless Inc. Before it would first state Rogers and then automatically switch to Fido and I'd have full 3G signal, but now it just says on Rogers and roaming.
I've tried installing different modem files, but still no luck.
I can't make calls or use the internet.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance!

i hope this help you and don t forgot to save all your files in pc and remove external card
I managed to get it to work after trying different radio and modem files, but now i have another problem.
I am with Fido, but the phone now identifies the network as Rogers Wireless. I know they're both the same network, but before it would be identified as Fido. Is this a problem? Are there any risks of being charged roaming fees?
I'm using the same Fido APN as before...
My phone is Verizon Droid 3 XT862.

Fully restore your phone using my Fast / Easy unbrick method, just search the general section. (All it does is restore your phone to complete stock.)
You can try other stuff, but this method seems to fix most issues that aren't "easy" to fix.
I will try this method.
But I want to know if there are something can be changed or flashed other than this rom.
I want to fix my phone's network.
It not work on cdma , gsm or wcdma.
I flash xt883 rom, but nothing happened.
Can i flash radio? Change hardware setting.
who can tell me.

You don't need the xt883 ROM in order to use the phone on any foreign gsm. The phone must be unlocked by Verizon, then you need to flash the xt883 radio.img, then edit/replace the build.prop. I would flash back to stock first, since the xt883 is a weird ROM, but you probably don't have to. There are already plenty of threads where the explanations have been given, so look around: search Verizon D3 on T-Mobile, D3 on AT&T/T-Mobile, etc.
You will have to turn off 'automatically select operator' in settings and choose manually the one you're using. T-Mobile users will only get edge and below, while AT&T users will get 3g.

I'm not sure what is wrong with your connection, but mine has problems sometimes where the phone will not recognize any available gsm networks. It's sometimes like this after I reboot my phone, but if changing my settings doesn't work, rebooting again will usually work.
Is your phone unlocked by Verizon? Did you flash the xt883 radio.img since changing your ROM? Did you replace your build.prop file with the tweaked one? I will try to find these resources for you if you still need them, but you should be able to find them by searching if you haven't already. After doing these things, you just have to reboot then go to your settings and tell it to prefer gsm. On T-Mobile, you wont get umts. On AT&T you will get gsm and umts.
In settings, you need to select wifi & network settings -> mobile networks -> network mode -> then choose gsm/umts, back to mobile networks -> under gsm/umts settings, click select network, then choose gsm only for T-Mobile or automatic for AT&T, then click operator select, select network and choose your operator. Select automatically will have a check box next to it and you should deselect it. I didn't have to put in my apn settings, because my sim card provides those automatically.
If these settings tweaks don't work for you then I really have no clue what will fix it because it is likely that something else is wrong. I can't be of much more help without seeing the device. I would suggest to keep playing around in settings and just use your head to see why it's not connecting. If you are getting voice and text service on your carrier, data shouldn't be a problem if your settings are done correctly.
Good luck!

Hello, I have this SGH-T879, It had the stock 4.0.4 firmware, but I flashed the SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio to unlock it via service menu, but now I don't have signal, right now i'm running CM10.1 and tried to flash multiple modems but still don't get GSM signal, i have Tmo_SGH-T879-UVLG3_radio installed right now but still it's not working, it says NO SERVICE. - TELCEL (my carrier), even it shows me the Voicemail icon, but what I need to do? I'm searching everywhere the stock odin file for going back completely to stock, but all the links are expired, help me please. And I don't know if KIES is usefull but I don't know if its possible to use it in this case.
I have a HTC J ONE HTL22 and a few days ago I lost my network signal completely. Contacted my network provider everything was good, bought a new sim tried that and still no network. The day I lost it I went into the service menu #*#*4636*#*# and into Phone Information and was just trying some different network settings. I clicked select radio band...and I saw Euro Band,Japan Band,US Band ,AUS Band ,AUS2 Band. I tried US Band to see the result and than i lost that menu ,now I only see Automatic, Cellular(800-MHz Band) and PCS(1900-MHz Band). When I try Automatic it says Unsuccessful. The other 2 successfully work but don't give me my network back? I've done a factory reset and still nothing changes. When I manually search for a network,it comes up blank. before it showed Bell,Telus,Rogers etc. So it's defiantly something with my radio.
My cell is UNLOCKED, S-OFF, CID-11111111, HBOOT-1.54.0000, RADIO-1.23.11.0829 and CWM installed, running stock 4.2.2. So I'm wondering is there a way to reset my radio or any help on flashing a new radio? Thanks

This might be of a bit more value. It seems the prior link was for a different HTC One model. Above link is for M7. Check it out if you still need a radio/baseband.
I also realized your phone is a Japanese variant...I dont know if that makes a difference or not in compatibility, but I wanted to mention you could try using ADB to flash the radio/baseband instead of using recovery. I think you could also upgrade your firmware, which usually includes the baseband. Good luck...
Thanks for reply

Same here...still no luck yet. Still have no network. Makes no sense why the radio bands cant be restored!?
