I'm having some trouble lately, maybe the past week? I keep seeing low memory, and I'll go in and delete some apps and it'll go away, and keeps coming back, I've cleared all my caches and such and am still hovering around 15-16MB of memory.. I rooted my phone about a month ago and flashed Fresh 2.4.0 onto it, and have really liked it versus stock! But, this low memory thing has me a little worried.. I've tried searching and haven't found much, anybody have any advice for me?
I've found that after wiping data and reinstalling my apps, I gained about 50 megs. Even with all the same apps and data from titanium restore... Just a lot of trash gets built up over time (it had been months since I had wiped data)

Use firerat's internal partition mod...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754805
It repartitions the internal space. When youre donr you have 2-300 mb of space for apps and cache. Very simple to do
you have a few choices here
1. switch to an odex'd build these have more internal space because of how odexing works
2. modify your partition like PMDColeslaw suggested
3. delete some of the apps your not using, i know on my phone i can name atleast 6 apps i have installed that i use barely at best

Hello there,
I really am stumped, and would really like some help! I've searched the forums, can't really find what I'm after, so apologies if this as already been asked/answered.
Basically, my G1 hangs a lot when it goes to sleep. I'm running Cyanogen 4.0.4 with an 8Gb Class 6 card - everything was fine when I was using the stock 2Gb card that came with the phone, but after having loads of trouble trying to transfer my apps, I decided to just wipe and start again. The card is Ext2 parted with a 293Mb size partition. I did have it as Ext3, but thought this might be the problem (since I didn't have any problems with Ext2 on my old card), and wiped and repartitioned as Ext2 but that wasn't the case and problems persisted. Occasionally the phone will hang when it is on, but mostly the hanging happens when I leave it alone for a while; the screen stays dark and nothing happens, and I have to take the battery out and restart the whole phone.
One thing to note is that when I did reinstall everything, MybackupPro often didn't like the card, and gave me 'I/O problems with card' or 'Cannot install app' mesaages until I rebooted and started again each time the messages came up. I had to reinstall my apps in 10 - 20 app chunks in the end, rebooting when errors came up, but eventually I got everything reinstalled.
I'm running Swapper (I know Cyanogen does something similar natively, but wasn't sure how it worked...someone please correct me if I shouldn't be using it), and Overclock Widget. Like I said. I never had a single problem before with my old card and these apps, so this all leads me to think it may be the card, but any advice would be much appreciated!

Hmm... sounds like the card to me. And the fact that you are using swapper on a possible defective card may very well be causing your system to hang. The system is relying on the sdcard as part of it's memory. So if the cards fails at any point, so will your phone. It'll be like pulling the RAM module out of your computer while your using it. Include a logcat of the phone crashing if you can and post it. Also reformat and check the partition for errors.
Thanks for your advice, I thought it may be the card too. Partitions seems fine...I used Partition Manager and it didn't throw up any problems.
As for Logcat, I did try and do that, but got a bit stuck trying to fiddle with my computer, and I don't think it's going to happen. I'm a bit of a newbie I'm afraid.
I don't mind getting a new card, but the only thing I'm concerned about is moving my apps...on this post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=553469 it looked pretty easy, but could you tell me if these commands are to be executed in the terminal on the handset? Does it copy the apps, because I imagined that if you fiddled with stuff that's in use (like moving an app from the Ext2) would cause a lot of FCs and possibly even hangs.
odd hang
I myself am getting a bit of a hang when waking the phone up, i have to hit the menu button several times, kinda reminds me of the coma issue that we had back on the old kernal. i didn't have a problem till i clean out my phone by wiping and reformating my card, it is not that big off a deal but it is just strange. oh and to the op, you do not need to run openclocker since cyanogen's rom has cpu scaling that does it already and if you have your partions in order as fat, ext, swap than it will auto use compchace

My phone did the exact same thing when I was using either Jac's Hero 1.3 or cyanogenmod 4.0.1. I tried everything and it wouldn't go away so I ended up switching to xrom.
Since cyan has been doing a lot of kernal tweaks lately do you think that it is possible that the coma issue has gotten reintroduce though, I mean both mine and the op is doing it, his is worse but if you remember that is what was happening to a lot before, mine never got to the point of pulling the battery but to the point of annoyance just like it used to
How is the xrom <that's jac's non hero build, right?> is it comparable to cyanogen's, I love cyan's performance but if this persits, I might find something else for awhile
I love it honestly. He just updated it to 1.4r3 and its is sweet, it has a custom theme and it looks really good. The performance is great and I don't even use a swap with it. I tried cyan again when 4.0.3 came out and only used it for 2 days before switching back to xrom. Personally I liked the icons and lockscreen of xrom 1.3r3 better then 1.4r3 but that is just my opinion, If you want to try 1.3r3 I can send it to you since it's not up anymore. Try 1.4r3 first though and see what you think because IMO it is the best rom out. Hero is nice but no matter what you get some lag and after a week or to it gets slower so I don't use it yet, I try the new builds but never stick with them.
Yeah I feel the same way but the hero builds too, nice to play with but nowhere near usable for me, I might just have to check out the xrom but I don't wanna give up loccy's browser, it is just friggin sweet and it works good for me because of the option of viewing just destop versions of sites since I get the men's health daily newsletter and whenever I would click on a link it would give me the moble version and not the article I would like to read, if loccy's brower works on the xrom, we might just have a winner
I haven't tried it yet so I'm not sure. Is it just a simple .apk to install or do I need to push it?
I just read the thread on the browser and it says it should work on xrom. It says to push it but I have just installed it like a normal apk before
Yea I am downloading it right now so I will let you know how it goes. Just so you know the browser on xrom doesn't have those zoom in/out buttons that pop up when you touch it, also it has multi touch just no double tap to zoom. I don't see any settings for turning off mobile pages though.
Well I am downloading the xrom right now so I will be flashing within the next half an hour or so, let me now if the browser works for you, by the way is compchache or swap automatic on it like cyan's or do I need to set it up myself, I perfer swapper, it just seems to work better for me
I think swapper is automatic but to be honest I never have used it for xrom because it is fast enough without it. The better browser works I just installed it normally, no pushing and I am using it right now with no problems, you have a pm.
If you like the notification bar icons in the first picture on the xrom thread they are from 1.3r3 because they changed in 1.4r3. If you want the older ones I can give you that rom amd it runs just as fast, only has a few differences from the newer one.
This xrom is nice, I am happy with the newest, oh and when I installed swapper and went in it was already set at 96mb and swappiness of 80 and I am on a fresh install and reformat so it must be automaticly set to then, explain why it is so smooth. Definitely comparable performance wise to cyanogen so I might have to stick with this for a while
I dont even have a linux-swap partition on my sd and I haven't had any problems with speed or lag.
Mine is silky smooth, better than I have had on any roms even the stock one
Trying very hard to keep the Internal Storage on my Eris @ 50% . Wonder how low I can really go before I run into issues ???? Too bad I'm not rooted otherwise I would move/install some of my apps to my 16GB MSD card.

Just try to make sure you're only hanging on to apps you actually use versus something that was cool for like 10 minutes and then forgotten. I would also reccomend wiping dalvik cache every now and then. Also there's a cool little app called app monster that allows you to store apps on your sd card. you can't run them but if its something you dont want to get rid of then you can have a back up.
why does it matter if your internal storage is at 50%?
Maybe a bit of obsessive complusive (not saying this to be derogatory) mixed with hoping to keep his phone as fast as possible?
Don't know about the compulsive part, but yeah I am looking to keep my phone "mean and lean". I gather I can load up my phone with tons of Apps and not be concerned about how little storage space I wind up with. By the way I am a Windows person , and learned the hard way . Tis not the case with Android?
Yea, the system paths are set up a little different in that respect. What's holding you back from rooting? If you're leaked, I understand, and sympathize. If it's warranty issues, then you can always recover and go back to stock. If you aren't sure how to do it, well there are plenty of how-to's and helpful people here. Apps 2 SD is pretty nice, and that's just the beginning...muahaha.
I was leaked the day it came out in March ..just my luck . Just wondered about space. Saw/heard on another forum where someone ran out of space and ran into issues. To me this is the best forum to get positive answers
Hi all I'm having this problem that's doing my head in. I went to use OCLF but was informed that I didn't have enough space in my phones internal memory. On checking it, apparently I only had 800 mb free, so I went and deleted all my large apps, and left a whole bunch of small apps about 4-5 mb in size (in total there wouldnt have been more than 30 mb combined). This didn cut it as now I only had 1100 mb free and I needed 1.5 gb to run the fix. After reading a few forums my understanding was that I had to do a factory reset to free up the rest, but in doing so I would lose my contacts, messages etc. So I used titanium to back some important things up then did the reset. On rebooting my phone I was shocked to see that my free available memory was still around 1.1 gb, and the reset was in vain as I had lost everything and my backups didn't work. Wats worse is the reset left some apps behind but none of them work! I ruined my phone and gave myself a big headache for nothing! Please somebody help! How can I free up some bloody internal memory so I can run OCLF and wat can I do about my failed titanium and astro backups?? Any help would be greatly appreciated

OCLF?
Isn't Voodoo Lagfix is a better solution?
I'm assuming you are still on the Stock 2.2 Firmware, right?

Yeah, OCLF is so deprecated, any thread that relates to it on these forums should be eradicated.
But isnt OCLF supposed to have a much faster fix than voodoo?? If not, then i'll be damned. I bet knowing my luck voodoo wouldnt require as much internal space. All this headache seriously for nothing - everything I intended to be removed off the internal storage is still their only corrupt and doesnt run, and everything i intended to keep through backup is lost through backups that don't work! ARGH!
Back to the matter though, how can I clear my internal storage if factory resetting isn't clearing up the 2g internal partition??
AND does anyone have any experiences with voodoo being much faster, efficient to use etc. than OCLF?? Thanks in advance
OCLF used black magic and trickery to get high benchmark scores but is not faster/smoother/better than ext4 voodoo.
Where have you been all these months and please don't tell us you are still on 2.1 or something.
haha ive been extremely busy with work over the last few months and haven had any time to play around with my phone or even come back on here (i forgot my old username and password cos i didnt come on in so long). that was until last week when i upgraded to 2.2 (and am hearing rumours of 2.3 coming officially coming soon?), rooted my phone and tried this OCLF rubbish all in the same night.
hard reset ur phone, then apply the oclf, not just the factory data reset..heres the dialer for hard reset

ok so i tried a new approach and im having more problems. sorry i guess its my inexperience. first problem was when i tried the hard reset by dialing *2767*3855#. The phone went through the process of 'resetting' the phone only when it rebooted, all the damaged apps which id been seeking to remove were still there (since initially trying the 'soft' reset option under privacy in settings, anytime i try to open one of the apps left behind the phone will vibrate twice then force close the app). the second problem was when i tried to flash voodoo using the recovery mode. i can enter the 3 button recovery mode only i cant move up or down the menu using the volume keys! fml
you need to just put it in download mode and flash back to stock.

alright dudes and lady dudes, It's that time of the month again - yes, the time when I need help with my phone.
Anyways I went to install and update a few apps today, and each time I try I get a popup error saying something to the effect of, you're out of room.
The thing is - I have over 20gb free between all my storage locations.
Around 1.3gb of the phone's built in storage, half give or take of the internal SD, and 13gb of the external 16gb card.
What could be wrong? I've really got no clue on this one...
Edit: Oh and it's worth mentioning I've migrated back to serendipity 7 after a jaunt with cyanogen mod 7 and several other roms. Running the standard s7 kernel and modem, had to re-install bootloaders due to the fact that I wiped and went back to 2.2 retail before S7. followed instructios to the letter, or so I thought. Maybe I messed something up.
PS Search is not working. I tried, and I'm very sorry if I've horribly ruined someone's day due to a double post.
Have you tried clearing market cache?

Hello,
I have a GT-I9070 with a LightJB v1.2.
Since the start of 2014, its started being slow. I didnt care about it, but by the time, it became slower and slower. Now its earned that type of slowness, that is playing with my nerves and my patience.
Since I got my phone, I couldn't watch a WHOLE YouTube or any video of its full length.
What can I do? I tried CoCore kernel, original kernel, LightJB, original 4.1.2, wiped everything, nothing changed. I used to overclock my CPU a bit, then it was a BIT better, but not so much.
But there is a thing that I can't understand. Games are going so cool, smoothly. (but i dont play)
What the hell can I do with it, because next week maybe I'm going to sell it, but if I won't, that would be good if I could use it, not waiting a hour to load Viber, Contacts etc.
Thanks,
Erik
What you're describing is a bit strange. I'm using the unofficial PA 4.4.4 ROM and the performance is great, apart from the occasional hiccup, but that's to be expected. I did attempt a FULL, and by full I mean delete both storages plus factory reset and all that, cleaning and noticed a bit of an improvement.
Both storages? You mean the external sd card too? or just the internal storage?

I did nothing to the external sd. The phone itself has 2 storages, one for apps and one for media and everything else, and they can be formatted through the settings menu. Again, the performance boost happening after the format may just be a coincidence since it was just a "deeper" clean flash, if you will. I did do a backup AND copy everything on the phone to my PC, just in case.
