FRG83D Causing Internet Connectivity Problems? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been having a lot of problems with slow internet and with my browser not connecting to sites since updating my Nexus One to FRG83D.
Anyone else having problems?

Not the right section for posting this is in.
However, nope no issues with internet or connectivity

Me too....
Yes, I am having problems with internet connectivity. My eBay and Bank of America applications also stopped working.

Also having a lot of problems after the update... system is not stable at all, all the WiFi issues I had before FRG83 are back again, several force closes, random reboots. Not impressed.

same. random reboots, crazy screen, voice doesn't work worth a dam and market errors.
I've been searching for a google voice fix. I've tried lots of versions and it acts the same with all of them.
There's just something in the update that isn't right.

network Connection Error

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if any one is currently, or has in the past, had connection issues with their g1. I believe I read there was an issue when RC29 came out, but I'm not totally sure. Anyways, here is my problem. I am running a rooted and unlocked g1 with dwangs 1.6 on it. I have AT&T so I only have edge as well. I've noticed that I started getting a lot of "Network Connection Errors" a few days ago. I'm pretty sure it started before I rooted, but it seems to be worse now. I upgraded to 2.1, and then downgraded again in the past two or three days. My downloads from the Market are constantly stopping and being unbelievably slow (yes, I know EDGE is slow, but they are significantly slower than normal). When trying to search the market, and/or use apps that access the network I'm constantly having to click retry to gain a good network connection. Hopefully you guys have some insight. Thanks!
nope... not really, not on any of my 7-8 G1's, all broken for diff reasons (never signal issues). but im on T-Mo

3G Data Stalls. Radio On/Off Cures

Currently running 2.2 FRF83, but I experienced this on 2.1 too...
Sometimes whilst browsing, the browser will stall when requesting a new web page. Eventually the page will timeout with a page unavailable or data connection error.
At the same time no other data functions work - email, Twitter etc. Also tried Dolphin browser but no luck, so I don't think its browser related.
The 3G icon shows both up/down arrows flashing as if it's requesting and receiving data.
While this is happening, a quick check of the phone info page does indeed show packet and byte counts increasing for both PPP Sent and PPP Received.
It's as if the data is coming down, but the phone doesn't recognise this.
To fix the issue I turn the radio off and back on. This immediately solves the issue, until it happens again, which could be in a few minutes again.
Have tried different radio settings like WCDMA Preferred, WCDMA Only, Auto prl etc. Still the same.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? Any possible solutions?
I have the same exact thing happening to me. I'm on AT&t in the US. Very frustrating, I was hoping that 2.2 would fix this. I've sent an email to Google regarding this and have yet to hear anything back.
So I'm not the only one then. It'll be interesting to see how many more Nexus One owners experience this issue.
Hope there's a solution somewhere out there.
Same ned a fix bad
Sent from my Nexus One
I get the same problem using the FroYo radio (4.06).
No problems with the older 4.04 radio though. Unfortunately I can't use that with 2.2 of course.
I was in America using At&t and had no problems with 2.1. I moved to Turkey and got on Turkcell and had problems then either.
I installed 2.2 (since the first ones came out FRF50) and am now on the latest and ever since I have had similar problems. I have to reboot the phone when this happens and then it works for many hours until it happens again.
When I go into market it pops up a dialogue box and makes me hit retry twice and then works.
It would be nice if this was straightened out.
I just got off the horn with Google support. The SE had me do *#*#INFO#*#* then bring up the menu and choose "select radio band" I then set the phone for "USA Band" the phone confirmed success. This seems to have worked for me. Hope it helps you.
Yep, I already have mine set to Euro Band. The "3G Freeze" still occurs for me.
Interested to hear how you get on with that Band setting nonetheless.
I'm on AT&T and had fantastic signals prior to the FRF83B update. Since I updated the radio, I'm having the exact same issues. It's becoming a pain when I'm trying to stream internet radio, because it cuts out every 20 or 30 seconds. I also noticed the other day, where I use to get strength, I had *no* reception.

[Q] Problem with WiFi

Hi!
I have a really weird problem with my SGS.
When I'm installing ANY firmware (I've tried every single one) except of my original FW "JPB", I can't get my WiFi working.
There are actually 2 types of Wifi behavior on the different ROMs. The first one is when you're connecting to the Wifi and you can actually open Google.com, Android Market, etc, normally. But when it comes to a "heavy" sites such as youtube, wifi connection just freezes and nothing helps before you'll close the browser and reconnect to the access point.
On some other roms you're connecting to Wifi without any errors too, but you can't actually open any site at all. And only on FW "JPB" (which is russian official) there is no such a problem.
Also Samsung Apps doesn't work on other ROMs, I even thought that it can be related somehow... I know that there's no logic here, so I'm really confused.
Oh, and even if I'm installing Voodoo lagfix on my official firmware I'm still getting into this trouble
I really want to hear your opinion, so please don't hesitate to reply.
Thanks in advance,
Jay

Slow Market Downloads on Nook HC

I wasn't able to find a solution in the Honeycomb Dev thread but I found several people with the same issue but so far nobody has found a solution from what I can tell.
I have the market installed and it seems to come up after a while however I can't reliably download anything. Angry Birds for example takes a full day to download. I also get a lot of Gtalk authentication errors even though it seems to log in fine once I go into it. I've also tried creating a new Gmail account to see if there was an issue with mine but so far nothing is working. I haven't tested regular web browsing speeds fully however it seems to be slow as well.
Has anybody experienced this or know of the solution?
Just wanted to confirm your issues. I too have issues with the wi-fi lag. When I run stock rooted and Nookie Froyo I have no issues. I guess it's still in it's early stages and bugs are to be found. Hopefully a fix will be along soon. But so far I haven't found anyone with a solution yet.
Yep, that's the issue.

[Q] Google Goggles not working

Hi,
I am running CM7 on my Incredible S. I have not been able to get Google Goggles to work when using data (only works on wifi). It analyzes the photo forever and then it says "cannot connect" and asks me to save it for later or cancel. Has anyone else experienced this? I see other threads on the matter but most have been resolved.
Thanks
i assume the bandwidth requirement is high for running google goggles.
probably the reason why it is working on wi-fi.
and this proves there could be no issue with the app itself.
are you on a 3g connection or 2g (edge/gprs)?
3G/H...rarely goes down to just "G"
Don't see why there should be a problem.
two suggestions:
1) try uninstalling & reinstalling the app from the market.
see if that helps.
2) i still feel it could be a bandwidth problem...
try downloading speedtest and check if you are getting the advertised speeds.
you should actually have a fair idea on this if you are able to stream music/videos without lag...
for anyone that may find this in the future - I upgraded my ROM to the CM 7.1 stable version that just came out and this issue is now resolved - goggles works fine on 3G (though it uses a hell of a LOT of battery)
