Hi All,
I recently bought a i9000 galaxy s from Turkey, phone doesn't have the market app by default. I want to make the minimum changes to my phone so that I can access the android market. I looked through the previous posts but I am lost. Hopefully someone can point to the right direction.
Here is the version info:
pda i9000jvjh1
phone i9000jxjg2
csc i9000trcji1
Here is what I attempted so far:
- I can access recovery/download modes.
- Rooted the phone. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304)
- Running system/app/Vending.apk gives a parse error.
- Installed the market-enabler app
- Found a vending.apk on another website and copied it to the sd-card, I was able to install it but when I try to download an app it says: "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again." Also when I look at the downloads tap of the market I see that things are stuck at "starting download..".
What should I do next? There is an update to Froyo available on Kies for my device, but I learnt that update doesn't have the market app either.
P.S.: I am on a Mac and have limited access to windows.
Thanks a lot.

Is this the correct section of the forum for this kind of question or should I repost somewhere else? Thanks.
Why dont you flash a whole new firmware, it comes included, you will also be stock and have no unnecessary modifications

I have been working on this issue for the past couple days but couldn't resolve it. It seems like flashing to a new firmware is the way to go. I wondering if flashing would void any warranties? Also how do I decide which firmware to use? I'd appreciate if someone could suggest a firmware. Thanks a lot.

Hey samsunghgt,
Have you found a solution for the market issue? Did you flash a new firmware? If so, whiich one did you flash ? And is it working well?

Aswome thank you
as the title of the topic says i can't get KIES to install in order to upgrade to the latest froyo 2.2. i've searched the forums here at xda and so far haven't found a topic that would relate to the problem i'm having:
when i run the setup for KIES i get the error which is visible in the picture below. i have done some googling and as far as i can understand it the 2057.mst file is some localized language file where the KIES installer gets stuck and doesn't proceed. the funny thing is that the 2057.mst file is in the setup folder as i have circled it in the image below...
i've searched the internet for many hours now and i can't find the solution to the problem, which is mainly the inability to install froyo... i have used odin for previous flashes, however as i understand it the KIES flasher and the froyo firmware it applies isn't the same as the process in odin, therefore i'm desperate to get this thing working... if anyone has any advice or experience with the simillar problem any kind of help would be greatly appreciated
The new market at https://market.android.com/ looks great!
But, under setting its not recognizing my device. I guess its because I am on Draky's rom and not a stock rom on my phone. Any one else with this problem?
Any ideas?
It's recognised mine as Telenor Samsung GT-I9000 I'm on Darky's too.
Quite fun to pick apps there and see them auto-install on the device
*Sorry double post
Lucky!
It won't let me on
try to go to Market and get "A server error has occurred. Retry or cancel"
Was doing this to me last night so I upgraded to 2.2 finally, and it's the same
any suggestions?
I'm in Canada, on Bell. using the baseband version i9000UGJL2. Its not rooted or anything.
it started yesterday, but I can't connect to twitter, through apps, or even through the web browser. It will work if I have the phone on Wifi, but it won't work on 3G/HSPA. All other apps and websites work fine.
There's appearantly a new firmware out, but Kies won't let me update to it. I tried using the registry editor to force the update, but when the process starts, it stops and says its not available for my firmware version.
I had to use Kies (older version back around the new year) & the 1.7 reg editor to force update to froyo. Is there anything else I can do with what I've got? Or do I need to look into rooting it? I'm kind of new to all this, so any help would be appreciated. TIA
What new firmware ??
Most likely a Twitter/ your Twitter account /settings problem as its both an app and web problem .
Rooting will not help that's only gaining administrator rights over your phone .

Hello XDA forum members,
I couldn't find my specific issue in the search so I thought this was the best place to ask.
I recently acquired my third A855 Verizon Droid from a family member and I can't get it to boot. He previously had it rooted, but I am not sure which firmware.
Upon start-up, at the activation screen, I get an unlimited loop of this error:
The application Dialer (process com.android.phone) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
First off, I am not sure which rooting guide I should use on this phone that would be best, or which is the latest version of firmware that runs stable (my current build on my other phones is not very stable at all... Kernel: 2.6.32-lowV-1.0Ghz-ChevyNo1 #53111
Next, would rooting this new phone solve the problem? I tried to re-update the firmware with the same version, but the same issue persisted; don't think my version is good anyway...
Just looking for any help I can get! Thanks guys!
To the top!
Just a suggestion, but you might try taking the device back to stock first. If you don't know what firmware you're starting with (given unit age or previous operator skillz) then a fresh start might help you on your way. I've always found ChevyNo1 to be very stable on my D1, but take that FWIW. You might try Steel Droid, if you're looking for something fresh, but I'm not sure it's the ROM you're using. As for rooting, I just used super one click. real simple and yeah, that could help with your install if it's not already rooted.
