AFAIK, this is the only custom mount of ANY KIND for the Incredible produced by HTC, which drives me crazy.

There are two versions available from the Verizon store. The one you linked to and one other. They both have one big issue. If you already have a protector for your phone that you like, it will not work unless you take your protector off. The one you linked to has one other issue, it uses double sided tape to mount. The other one I looked at had a suction mount, but as I said, it will not let you put your phone on it unless you remove any protector you are using.
the one linked is the one i'm talking about. i haven't found it on the VZW website anywhere, didn't think to look anywhere else. i don't use a case or anything full time, i ordered an otterbox for when i'm working to wear on my belt, but when i'm not i just throw the phone in my pocket and run. i wish seidio came out with a car mount like this that worked with one of their cases, that would be epic. i'm sure with a dremel tool you could make it work if you were so inclined.
I have this one
I bought this with my incredible when I first got it. before 30 days was up the clip broke. I took it back and got it replaced. Then a couple of weeks later the new one broke in a different place. I hadn't even taken the new one off the car mount and worn it on my belt. I ended up cutting off the clip and gluing the clip to the mount so that it became a car mount only.

where did it break?
i'm wondering if there's a way i can use another company's clip and case without having to remove it. thinking of getting the seidio innocase and clip or something like that, maybe just cut the little tab off of the car mount clip and using that on whatever one i end up getting.
I don't want or use the belt clip, just adds another point of movement to the system. There's no happy medium with adjustments, you either get it where you want it and tighten it down to no flexibility, or it is way too loose. Due to the way the suction cup is engineered, the act of placing the phone or removing it from the clip torques the suction, causing it to fall off all the time. Was not at all impressed.
I have this mount I just pictured. I find it reliable. I do not use the belt clip.. I always leave that on the mount.
I have never used phone cases on any of my cell phones for 12 yrs.. I only have a screen protector..
Dinc goes in my phone pocket. My designated pocket only for my phone.. Not change or car keys..
Carefull
I have one of these.. or I should say I've had 2 of these. First one broke after about 8 seconds of being up and I tried to rotate the phone, and the hing that holds the clip on snapped.
Took it back to Verizon they swapped it out... had the second one a month or so and went to remove the phone and clip from the stand... and the plastic washer that holds the clip to the mount broke.... I now have it zip tied and it works great.
I was not rough with it, its just very fragile. Otherwise a good mount.
I've had 2 and the first one broke within a week. The clip that hooks into the mount broke and wouldn't mount. The second one I had for a few days before it broke. The one the hinge went. I didn't bother trying to replace it again. They did swap it out, but if two break that quickly, I figure I'll just keep having the same problems.....
Add me to the "it's too darn fragile" camp. I ended up buying a third-party "one size fits all" type... They lie too, but it works. I just have to adjust it so the volume key isn't being squashed. (also, no cut out for camera)
2 broken clips at hinge and counting.
Same here, my clip hinge broke both times. I just have it sitting there in the car driving down the road and the phone just falls off and the hinge is broken. I think the plastic is too thin, should be a metal part, and the spring tension always on it fatigues it. Bad design.
I went to verizon and told them I wanted their generic mount and they handed me this:
http://www.amazon.com/Bracketron-PH...r_1_41?s=STORE&ie=UTF8&qid=1285511830&sr=8-41
The one Verizon actually sells is slightly different as the little bottom nodes that hold the phone phone sits on can be bent in and thus you can move the phone around. I will have to take a picture of mine. Anyways even with a case it fits perfectly and its only like $20 and if you have the corporate discount which gets you 25% off it runs about $16.70 total after taxes which is what I bought it for.

So which one would you recommend? I plan on doing a lot of driving up and down I-95 to visit friends in Maine/NH/PA/MD/VA and would love having Google's "Navigator" mounted on my windshield instead of having it sitting in a cup holder (like I do now). I'll be careful with any mount I get, but those universal mounts are just too bulky and a lot of them mess with the volume controls or doesn't leave me a space to plug the phone into my lighter outlet (or have weird mounting points, like in one of the air vents).

I really recommend the Verizon one made for the incredible. all buttons and ports are accessible on the incredible
Like I said, I leave the belt clip mounted at all times, and the only protection I use for my phone is my special pocket and a screen protector.

I just bought it on a whim today and it is definitely great. Way better than the staples generic one that broke in the first 2 weeks
Wife and I both have one. Both broke right away. Replacements also broke. Always in the same place, the hinge for the clip snaps. The spring is simply way too powerful for the strength of the plastic. On the replacements I just slathered epoxy all over the hinge to make it a permanent mount. Neither one of us were using it for anything other than the car dock, but the thing just breaks like a cheap wine glass.
So in my experience they were 4/4 for breaking within 3 weeks. It's a great dock, but you just have to expect it to break unless you do what I did and glue the living crap out of it.
ive had my verizon mount for about 2 weeks now, my only complaint is that it has a removable belt clip. Ive tried different locations around my windshield and since I play with it so much, the clip has wiggled loose a time or two. other than that, its been better than any mounts ive tried to hack together for it.
TL;DR good mount, bit pricey
I had been looking at car mounts for awhile and didn't really like the large generic mounts. While I was in Best Buy last week I saw they had these IQ Mount that works with Iphones etc that was on sale for $8.99. It also comes with 3 universal tabs so I ordered a snap-on hard (back only) case on ebay (I ordered this one that kind of went with the base and wasn't totally black, hopefully reducing the temperature) and put it on the back of this case. The universal tabs allow you to mount it either horizontally or vertically allowing you to rotate your phone by just pulling it out and putting it back in. The case doesn't block any of the buttons and is easy to take on and off since I don't like having to have the extra bulk of a case. The tabs are very small so they could be put on your existing case as well and you'd probably not notice. This mount also gives you the ability to mount it on the windshield with a suction or on the dash with a strong 3m tape. I will try to get some pictures to post on here but I am very happy with they way this turned out.
Hope this helps someone else too.
Sounds pretty neat-o to me. Too bad my miata has some weird ass vents lol. I like the idea of it being suctioned to the windshield, hard to use navigation with it in your pocket.

Excellent solution
Purchased this based on the original recommendation and it works very well in my new toyota sienna. Thanks for the recommendation.
I was thinking of using the phone when cycling to track my route and so that I can see my position. I will not be going off-track often and I don't expect to be falling off the bike often . Could you recommend some good case? Thanks
I'm using this one for the past 2 years and it's really great:
http://www.topeak.com/products/bags/smartphone_drybag_5_wt
It hosted my Nexus 4, then my Z1C and now my Z3C . The great thing is that it has a clip on the back that you can attach to the regular clothes too, so I can use it also if I go hiking or rowing.
You will have to use a bluetooth adapter during those times because the phone will be enclosed 100%.
super cheap yet very solid and functional:

I'm a bike commuter and like to have my phone on my handlebars every day either as speedometer, clock or music player. I've used a number of different mounts with varying degrees of success.
Right now, I'm a huge fan of QuadLock (quad lock case dot com) . For the Z3c, you'd need to get a secure 3rd party case case (not sure which would be the most secure, maybe the Ringke Fusion? or Terrapin? I dunno), then get the Bike Kit which includes the bike mount and the universal adapter. I've used this setup with three different phone/case combo's thus far and each has been rock solid.
I can't comment on the earlier poster's ebay mount, but I can offer some advantages of the Quadlock over the Topeak bag. A huge benefit of the Topeak is that it's a dry bag, protecting your phone from the elements. But, that's not a concern with the Z3c since it's water/dust proof. And, the downside of the Topeak is that it can overheat, they warn about this on the Topeak site, and I've experienced it with other enclosed mounts. Also, with the Quadlock, you will still have access to charging (depending on your case) either from a battery pack or a hub gen if you have one - I've done both.
The downside of the Quadlock is that it's $40 USD. But, being the most reliable one I've tried thus far, I don't have a problem with that cost.
HTH,
Jack
Hey Jack, I'd like to get your opinions after using Quadlock after a year. I'm looking for most robust option. Quadlock has dedicated products for iPhones and some other devices but they recommended universal adaptor for Z3C. But I don't trust the adhesive that will be mounted on Z3C case. Have you had any issues with this? I suppose you have used Universal adaptor as well.
I can also buy a more up-to-date and compatible product that supports charging while using the device. I have a Roswheel front bag on frame for Z3C. Basically I'm not happy with using it. But I can use it to house my charger and from there an extension of charging cable to Phone at handlebar could do the trick. What do you think? Of course this is a rare case scenario. I'm not a great fan of cycling. Only joining weekend activities. Usually they take only 70 miles.
I would also appreciate a little update. I also have something similar to the bag mount. Quadlock looks really cool, but I can't justify the price.

If your headset stem is square-section, the easiest way to mount your phone is with a simple loop of elastic. Starting with the loop under the stem, pull up loops along the left and right sides of the stem. Then thread your phone through those loops so it's sitting on top of your stem. Our phones are waterproof, so no need for a case. They also have those tiny wrist-band strap holes at the bottom which you can use to make a secure back-up to stop the phone hitting the floor if the elastic fails.
I cycled across Europe like this last summer - absolutely perfect tool for the job.
I'm looking for a car mount that can replace my old N5's qi based charger. I have a curved/textured dashboard, it would be great if I can mount on that!
Thanks!
My old civic had a curved and textured dash and was incredibly difficult to find a suction mount that actually held.
Enter iOttie.
These mounts typically have a soft and sticky suction mount that will adhere to almost any surface. I picked up the "easy flex 2" which has served me well for a couple years without ever detaching.
Word of caution though, when trying remove the mount yesterday it took CONSIDERABLE effort to pry it from my dash as the sticky bottom of the suction cup had become so settled that it seemed glued to my dash. I eventually pried it off but not without leaving some marks on my dash which I do not know if they can be cleaned off. The most common complaint for iOttie seems to be this "super adhesion" and is worth considering before purchase.
Tons of their mounts are available on amazon, http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias=mobile&field-keywords=iottie
HTH!
Any idea if a magnetic mount will work on the 5X (as with the 5?)
Thanks!

This! I love this mount and always recommend it to people who have a CD slot in the dash, as long as its not in an awkward position. It's centered, close, my old iOttie dash mount was leaving an imprint, and cooler temperature wise by not being in the windshield. The last one is important for me especially in the hot Florida sun.

Just the CD slot version for me. On my Audi it sits very nicely above any car interface I might want to use, thus doesn't get in the way of anything.

One has a magnetic plate
One has the normal cradle to put your phone in

I actually decided to order another one but this time the magnetic Snap 3 version. I realized that because the phone has both power and volume on one side, the cradle version would have to grip it lower than it does on my GS5. Kind of throwing it off centered while in landscape. I do like the idea of putting the mounting badge on the inside of a case to keep it more discrete.
I went with the Spigen mount... It works great on my current HTC One M7, but I have concerns with the buttons in the middle of the phone on the 5X. Will see this week...

I hadn't thought about that. Please update with how that goes. I still haven't pulled the trigger on it.
Ok, been using the Spigen mount over the past few days... Overall, I think it will be hit/miss for many. I started with the phone centered in the mount, which results in the volume buttons being in the 'clamp zone', the power button was not interfered with. I inserted/removed the phone several times. There was one time that I noticed the volume button was hit (showing the volume slider on screen), but it wasn't being held down. So, there will be instances when the volume (and maybe the power, depending on how you insert) can be bumped, but it doesn't appear that the mount design will keep the button pressed.
I then adjusted the phone so it was offset in the mount so that the volume/power were not interfered with. Made inserting the phone a bit awkward, but that is likely due to having a certain method of mounting the phone. I think I just need to re-learn the process and it will be fine. I was happy with the result because it actually moves the phone closer to me. I have had no issues hitting the volume keys with it offset, nor was there any issues with the stability of the mount with the phone like this.
So, YMMV, but I will continue to use the Spigen mount...
I bought a Spigen magnetic vent clip mount. Then I cut down a Ringke Slim case and mounted a plate behind it. Phone slips and the magnet holds the butchered case in place when installing and removing. If I am running a case I put a plate in between the phone and the case and place a piece of dryer sheet between the phone and the plate. Not the nicest but quite functional.
I've been trying to find out if the magnetic car mounts are harmful or totally safe for a smartphone but every time I find mixed answers, I'm looking for a car mount for my S7 Edge but still can't decide for a great option

Most reviews I saw simply mentioned to use with a case. Long time usage *might* be detrimental but quite a few people use them without issue. In the end, it's your call to make.
I have used for all my phones, never had a problem.
If you mean will the magnet damage the phone or your data, then no, they're completely safe. Nothing in a cell phone is stored magnetically. There are no magnetic disks in the phone. Some manufacturers even supply magnetic cases that trigger certain functions when they're closed. Neither RAM, nor ROM, nor LCDs or LEDs are affected by magnetic fields. Well, I might not want to expose it to the kind of magnets they use to pick up whole cars at junkyards, but even that would probably be OK.

I've been using a magnetic car mount called Magic Mount and it has given me 0 issues.
Using it with a Spigen Neo Hybrid case.
Thanks guys, now I have a better idea
We've been using magnetic mounts for years. The only issue with the S7E is that in order to maintain wireless charging, the metal plate needs to be at the bottom of the phone. This means landscape is impossible and even in portrait the phone may come off the holder in a hard turn. I'm still searching for a wireless charging holder for the car that isn't clunky and doesn't use some form of sure to fail adhesive/suction cups to hold the phone. I'm surprised how bad the selection is and may try to McGiver my own out of a cheap ($5) charging pad.

I always used the magnet car mounts with my Note 4 and it was great. I got the S7 edge and after the first day of use the screen would jump around on it's own and the phone was acting crazy. It went back to normal the next day. I tried again using a back plate between the case and phone and I again got the same issue. I didn't want to permanently mess up the phone so I gave up and went with an ugly window mounted option. I'm jealous of those saying they don't have issues with their magnet mounts and S7 edge because they are great. I assume it's something with the metal back on the phone.....
Been using this magnetic thingy for a year and all good so far.
Magnetic car mounts safe for s7?
Ive been using a magnetic car mount for 3 weeks. Yesterday, woke up with phone switched to wifi and would only boot in safe mode. Tried resetting about 20 times. Later, driving home, put phone on car mount and reset again: instantly returned to regular boot up. Does this possibly mean the magnet might cause the mysterious appearance of safe mode? Should i remove the magnet before I fly?
Thanks for any advice
Been using a simple magnetic mount and a Qi charger with magnetic mount for probably a year with no issues. Went back to the older type of mount but nothing that was related to the magnet itself.
Think about this, magnets destroy magnetic media (floppy disks, old hard disks, etc). Phones do not use any sort of magnetic media. Some phones have magnetic switches related to opening of phone covers/cases, and this one probably has one too, since Samsung does make a case for our phone that seems to magnetically activate various features. Also,, I have accidentally walked into MRI scanner rooms with my phone in my pocket, with no issues, and as you can imagine, the magnetic field is strong enough pull in large metal objects such as oxygen tanks and metal carts.

Have you tried a different mount ? If its working fine for others and not for you i doubt that its something to do with your particular mount.
