I recieved my tilt from Amazon roughly aweek ago. Everything was going fine up until not to long ago. The screen stopped registering any screen taps from the stylus or my finger while everything else worked just fine. I reset the unit a few times hoping to resolve the issue. Nothing. THEN I made the big mistake of hard resetting the unit. Now i get to the calibration screen and no further. Anyone got any ideas? Any idea where I can take this to get looked at? i was contemplating sending it to Amazon as defective but ive already flashed the HTC Rom to it shortly after recieving it. Am I completely screwed? Help!!

you could try reflashing the original ROM
Yeah, I tried that shortly after making my original post. Still nothing. I'm curious if the cable for the digitizer came loose somehow (no idea how though) or if it is an actual hard ware issue.
I thought something was wierd when it was working though. When I used the stylus the taps were very inaccurate recently. More so towards the upper hight hand corner of the screen. Calibrated it a few times hoping to correct it but it was always slightly off still. Then it just stopped working all together.I thought it had something to do with my screen protector but after removal was still a no go.
Luckily I am still able to make phone calls thanks to the slide out keyboard. Not sure if it rings or anything when I recieve one though. Still stuck at the calibration screen Any other ideas?
What size star key is needed to disassemble the tilt/tytn II? I may try taking a look inside to see whats up.

If you're stuck at the calibration screen after a hard reset, how are you able to receive calls? Surely the reset hasn't completed?!?
Also, if you have reflashed to the original ROM, and thats now stuck also, then it has least got the correct ROM image on the device, thus allowing you to return it for a replacement.
Still a little confused about how you're able to use it at all though...
i honestly though it wierd myself. after flashing back to the original rom. at the calibration screen if i slide out the keyboard, press the talk button , close then reopen the keyboard, it lets me dial out using the number keys on the keyboard.
I can actually make out the home page behind the calibration screen as the screen reorientates itself.
edited Well I've no idea what just happened but the screen just stared working again out of the blue. My dog jumped on the bed n stepped on it ant the cursor moved. Very weird. Damn I'm lucky. lol Thanks for the input guys. Lets just hope it doesn't happen again XD

I agree, sounds like a loose connection somewhere
Could be grit between the screen and frame
One of my friends had an XDA Orbit and he had this problem. It turned out it was a crumb or piece of grit wedged between the frame of the phone and the screen causing the screen to be permanently pressed at that point. He used some fine implement (maybe a pin - can't remember) to dig it out. If this was the problem with your phone that may explain why it suddenly started working viz the bit of grit became dislodged by itself.
Cheers,
Ashley

Hi all.I bought my galaxy note almost 2 months back. This is my first android phone.I have used iPhone 4 before buying this beast.I must say its awesome. However lately i have started experiencing a little problem.I have noticed that at times while typing my note's screen( Right hand corner) became unresponsive. I had to press the screen a lot of times to actually type a single letter( it was the GO button actually.) After struggling with it for 5-6 minutes it started working fine. After a few days i experienced the same problem again.I took my handset to the service center but the screen was working fine then.
I face this problem sometimes . i noticed that after locking the screen and then unlocking it solves the problem for that moment. Is this a software problem or hardware.
I wasn't able to convince the service person that my device has the problem. How can i make him convince and get the handset replaced.
Any help would be Highly appreciated. (The problem area is actually the place on screen where application icon is situated.)
Is the problem there only when you charge it? Because, there are known issues with many smartphones where that is the case. If it is, then I am right there with you, and trying different chargers I heard will alleviate the issue.
No the problem is not when i charge the device.I face this problem very rarely but not when charging.I would like to mention that the charger provided with the device was very slightly bend on the charging end as if it was forcefully inserted in some device.Though it charges the device without any problem.
Sorry, don't know what else to say. Good luck though.
I have had the problem with the bottom right corner becoming unresponsive to screen taps .This usually happens when the phone is not in my hand but is lying on a soft surface such as a pillow. However the minute I pick it up in my hands, the problem goes away. Strange. I had my note replaced under warranty, only to find the problem re occur on the replacement phone after a few days.

I'm having the exact same problem and thinking of taking it back to the service point. However, could it be rom related?
I'm running LA4. GOing back to a backup of KK5 alleviates the problem.
Something else I've noticed is that when left on a surface the application
button rarely responds but as soon as I touch it on the sides it works and when Ialso plug the usb cable it also works flawlessly.
A friend of mine has the same issue, but it only occurs if the device is laying flat on a table which is odd, he plans to have yet another screen replacement but will probably wait a few months due to shoddy quality control.
I had this issue since the 1st day. It became worst during charging. Have tried every old and new rom with no luck. I though it was a screen issue where I even applied much pressure to the affected area hoping it would help but no luck.
But the issue went away after I flashed Abyss kernel 3.9 via cwm. Now the right bottom corner is as sensitive as the left bottom corner. You might wanna try a different kernel 1st before sending to the service center...
If I remember correctly one HTC phone had similar problem, screen was unresponsive when lying on table but as soon as u pick it up it worked fine. It had something to do with screen/digitizer not being grounded properly.

Definitely a hardware problem because when I took it to Samsung service centre, the first thing they did was to flash the phone firmware. Only when the problem persisted, a replacement was given.

shot in the dark here, do you have a case on your note? I was going nuts on the first few days with my note using a flip style case only to find the damn magnet was causing the touch response issues. Took the case off and haven't seen the problem since.
After further testing it seems in my case at least it was definitely a kernel issue with cf-root kernel la4. Replaced it with a different one and problem solved.
Same problem here, put it down and bottom right corner doesn't respond, pick it up, responds instantly like rest of screen. I thought I had some kind of insecure Note that needed to be held or something. Last few days it was really freakin me out to the point I was purposely putting it down and then pressing and pressing and pressing the back button...nothing...pick it up...works with one slight touch, I was like WTF? What the hell could cause that???
Somewhat relieved to see I'm not the only one with a clingy Note. I'm going to wait and hope ICS fixes the issue, if not I'll guess I'll have to learn how to flash.
Right-hand corner of death
Thank goodness I'm not the only one in the world with this problem.
I first observed the problem when i upgraded to LA1. I was loving the improved battery life like a puppy until i noticed the bottom right part of the touch screen was as dead when placed on a flat surface. It started working again after I had picked it up, making me wonder if it had a "Hey I'm being hand held" feature, but it would still trip out when i'd type an SMS or email.
Called the Samsung service center to ask about it. they said they've never heard of such a problem and that I should just bring the phone in for software downgrading since my Note was ok till I upgraded it. For them, it was a firmware problem so replacing it was not on their priority list.
I ended up downgrading myself to KJ3 (using odin) which works fine. Unfortunately, i no longer enjoy the improved battery life or one-handed keyboard config.
No choice now but wait for ICS and hope it works flawlessly.

This is definitely a problem with screen. I got mine replaced an hour ago and did the LCD test. The new one is working perfectly fine (with and without flip case).
Try the LCD test . *#0*#.If the test fails get the hand set replaced.

Outsyder,
What software version are you using?
Tried the screen test and mine works flawlessly on KJ3. Since I'm from southeast Asia, I don't have any other updates available except for LA1 which is buggy on my Note.
My girlfriend's N1 has gradually developed some problems. At first the headphones were not being recognized properly. Then camera stopped working. Now that I've taken a look at it the flash light does not work either. If you call someone, 4 times out of 5 the screen goes blank and you cannot end the call. Sometimes this happens when receiving calls as well.
I was using CM7 before and no additional apps were installed. Tried with or without SD card, rebooting, resetting to factory defaults, putting another ROM, restoring to factory ROM.
The symptoms:
- any camera app starts with a black screen and later throws wait/close dialog
- flashlight apps seem to work but no light is coming out
- headphones do not get recognized, tried 4 brands, compressed air, pushing, pulling, pressing. Not a lint issue.
- immediately after pressing a call I get a black screen which I can come out of by pressing a random combination of keys
I tried moving the camera and LED modules with my finger but nothing happened.
Everything else works: calls, trackball with led, bluetooth, wifi.
I had a similar problem with the flash and camera and it was fixed when I swapped out the main board which also has all the ports your having problems with

That sounds unfortunate because the original seller has now closed the shop: site is offline, amazon and ebay products are delisted, does not respond to email.
Even worse, I'm located in Germany and bought the phone here, but I don't really speak the language well enough to contact consumer protection authority and even the HTC support site is all in German. Original box and warranty are in my home country. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
I've written a mail to HTC support since GooglePhone has closed shop as well.
Since I'm still on a rant, touchscreen has been acting up since day one, upon heating it registers wrong touches, but this is already a known issue.
It was a nice phone while it lasted, but in hindsight I wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore. It still looks like new fwiw.

Its hardware issue caused mayb y dropping the N1
so try to replacing ur main board or mayb u can get it repaired if u have a good engineer around u
Thank If my reply helps u ..
Just as an update, the issue with all these phones is the ribbon cable connecting headphone jack, camera, proximity sensor and perhaps [front] speaker. It's probably an easy replacement and the part cost is around 25-40$. The cellphone repair guy said that he has done it a lot of times for this phone type, so it's probably a production/engineering issue.
My Nexus One Fell from a height of approx 1.5 meters.
> Now the charging LED is not glowing.
> When i turn on the Camera, the screen completely goes BLACK for about 1 min and then say NOT RESPONDING
> When i dial/call some number i can hear the voice , but the screen goes blank and i cannot hang up the call.
I wanted to Re-Install my OS, but i am not able to enter the Recovery.
I am using 4EXT Touch, the screen stays at the count of 0 and keeps looping there.
I even updated the newest Recovery using the 4EXT recovery APP. but No use.
These are the problems i so far found.
The mobile fell just a few mins back and i am very concerned :crying:
Please help
Seems like all the TOP portion things are not working.
The Proximity sensor is acting ODD.
Some times it does not Turn off the screen. SOme times it does not turn on the Screen.
Please reply.
How to Flash the ROM without entering the custom Recovery ?
I disassembled the mobile and checked if there are any loose connectors but didnt find any.
Please help me
"Fell from 1.5mts height"
AND IT WORKS?!?!?! No broken screen!?? Miracle!!
Best chance is to get a cracked screen/digitizer one on eBay, should cost around $20 or so, and replace the motherboard + camera.

The mobile was having the Silicon Cover so i think it absorbed some force, but some internal parts might have been effected
I dont have any problem with the TOUCH. It works well.
I found no loose connections in the connectors.
Non working things are :
1. Ear phone socket - Does not detect the headset
2. Camera - shows blank screen for a few secs and force closes
3. Proximity Sensor
4. Charging LED
so far i found these issues.
I cant enter the Custom Recovery (4EXT) too.
Please help me.

Sounds like you've damaged quite a bit of it. It may not be the motherboard that's the only problem, and could mean also replacing screen, etc. Unless you're up to that it could be time to let the Nexus One go..

I'm sure some items aren't absolutely necessary such as the charging led, but the earpiece and the proximity sensor could be more the problem. At least it boots - better that than nothing at all

Take a look on eBay - there are some ear pieces available (at least in the UK) and proximity sensors. Then if you follow a video which you will likely find you can manually replace these parts to see if they are the problem
Had the same problem; it can be the ribbon cable which is either loose, or completely disconnected. The bad news is that you'll have to disassemble pretty much the whole phone. We've actually damaged one the of the cables once while trying to do this, so if you try it, be very careful! There is a page online somewhere that tells you which cable it is exactly, just search the symptoms:
1. Camera doesn't work
2. Charger LED doesn't work
3. Proximity sensor always shows "near", as a result -the screen remains black after making a call
UPDATE:
Found the link with the picture of which cable it is:
code.go ogle.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15291
It's a long page, so just scroll down
My Nexus one also has the same issues!
I know that it is coz of the flex cable. the other thing that doesn't work is the camera flash (when you try to use it as a flash light)
luckiely for me the ear phone does work! i am able to use the phone (except for the camera and flash light) for pretty much everything
as i always make/answer the calls using the ear phones, i dont have to worry about the proximity sensor not responding during the calls.
My suggestion would be to try and see if your ear phone is detected or not (may be play a song) and then use it to make some calls.

Unfortunately its not working. I thought i can atleast use for media listening/watching but its not detecting the earphone
there are some dedicated ROMs for usage as Media Players so i thought of it, but no use.
Only possibility will be to use the Bluetooth Headset. (I have Plantronics Backbeat 903+ but my ears pain a lot , doesnt fit will )

RE: Safe Mode...
I've had this before, all I did was to take my N1 completely apart, until the point where I couldn't see anything else to remove lol!
I then left it to air for the next 48 hours, reassembled and it works!
BUT !
I warn you, if you do this, you MUST make a note of where every piece on your phone goes or you'll regret it at the end!

My case was that the water entered the Trackball.
once it dried it was normal again.

Yes, patience was the key. After some 24 hours it started working. (Trackball got drenched in water).
Thanks.
I flashed a cyan build delta using the app cyandelta the other day and after that, the phone refused to charge unless it was turned off. I figured the build had broken something but discovered that the phone would hang when trying to boot into twrp. So i did a full reset using the 1.29 ruu to see if that would help and it did not except now i get a warning on screen saying the usb host is unplugged and unable to change in the notification area.
the stock build also suffers from other random quirks like during phone call it repeatedly turns on and off the speaker phone and the gyro sensor will randomly turn my screen sideways.
took it into the sprint store and said there was corrosion on the charging port but i know it has not gotten wet at all the past few days and that the problem occurred right after the flash.. They refuse to touch the phone and say i have to pay 150 to replace it. I have tried cleaning the port with a dry toothbrush to no avail
Is there anything else i can try and re flash that might fix some messed up software or was flashing the ruu the best bet.
Thanks for your time and help

Had the EXACT same issue on mine, never unlocked or rooted. Sometimes the volume would just disappear as well (even when using headphones) but the Beats icon would still show. Everything would go into permanent landscape mode at times. Calls answered in speaker automatically. If I plugged it in while it was on I got the usb host notification. The car mode app thingamajig launched for no flippin' reason, had to turn it off to charge it, all that jazz.
Definitely a hardware issue with the usb port. I took mine to Sprint hoping for a replacement but it has a barely visible crack horizontally across the screen so that was denied unless I agreed to pay the $150 deductible. It flew out of a car with me about a month prior so that did some damage to the phone. Then I dropped it the day these issues started happening. The port felt loose, I figured all of the wear and tear messed it up.
I didn't actually fix the phone though. It just randomly started working smoothly again and I haven't had a problem with it since - it has been a couple of months now. From all of the research I did, I saw that most people had the problem just fix itself for no reason and never come back. I tried cleaning the port and poking and prodding but nothing fixed it. Just one day, BOOM, all better.
Hope it decides to behave soon
