[Q] Does CWM JH2 update.zip exist? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to reflash my phone back to JH2 without having to use odin so as a result i was wondering if Stock JH2 was ever compiled into an Clockword Recovery Mode type update.zip file.

Insalling cutom rom with I9000XXJPK

okay guys,
so i would like to be able to flash rombie v2a. i have flashed the phone itself using 512pit file and 2.2 jpk firmware using odin. so i got a jpk 2.2 samsung galaxy s and want to flash to rombie whats the saftest way ? Do i just copy the update.zip to sdcard/ then do 3 button recovery and flash that way or is something else needed.Rombiev2a jph files state the kernel needs changing and to use odin to flash it i get all that. but doesnt state if this is the same for jpk aswell. if anyone at all could shed some light and tell me hows i can flash rombie v2a 4 jpk i would be very gratefull cheers wattsy
I am using Rombies' V2A Full with JPK. You need to flash the i9000 kernel first to have recovery mode 2e. You need it to be able to flash the update.zip or you will get an error about unsigned updates. Then once you flash the update you flash the JPK kernel back to the phone.

[Q] verification failed

I have a bell sgs and I had an issue with booting into recovery so I followed this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810686 to allow the three button mode working.
I just updated to bell froyo LH2 and when I try to install any update.zip in recovery mode it says verification failed.
-I am not rooted
-I have not added anything extra past the original three button fix which I did on 2.1 before I flashed to 2.2
2.2 has Recovery 3e which doesnt allow unsigned ZIPs to be flashes. You need to get recovery 2e. You can get it from CF-root kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Bell froyo LH2, is this the newest Bell version? I can't find anything about it. I am on JL2 and I thought this was the newest one.
I just reinstalled Windows, so I will install Kies now and give it a try.

Can Darky or any pre-rooted Rom be Flashed via odin?

Hi
Maybe I didn't search very well but I have a question that seems very stupid...
With Odin, is it possible to flash a custom rom?
I mean the rom that i use normally flash with voodoo on the recovery mode can't bee found by odin...
Thing is that i've got the corrupted memory problem and acted to fast and flashed the stock 2.2 firmware from bell....now i'm stuck with 3e recovery...
If I could flash to a pre-rooted rom with CWM or Voodoo it would be better i thing if i want to try some manipulation with adb

Click to collapse
I haven't confirmed this or searched but I think it's because you have voodoo enabled, this format is ext4 which is a linux format and can't be seen on windows unless you ahve some 3rd party software installed. Just boot into recovery and disable the voodoo, this will put your phone back to the normal format and odin should recognize it.....i'm totally guess here since i haven't tried it but I think this would be the cause
Darky's ROM is meant to be flashed via Clockwork recovery and can not be flashed by odin, darky's comes in a zip file and odin only uses .tar extensions

Voodoo 5.5 for Froyo

Hi
my Galaxy S GT-I9000 is not rooted and is on Froyo 2.2
PDA-I9000BGJP3
PHONE-I9000BGJP2
CSC-I9000XECJP2
I would like to apply the Voodoo 5.5 lagfix
so I want to know which method i should use
Do i simply use the Update.zip method located here :
http://project-voodoo.org/installation
I mean, Recovery mode will do it?
or ClockWorkMod recovery and Rom Manager are necessary? (because thats what i read here : http://project-voodoo.org/download )
thx
Just flash it with odin. Donwnload the 5.5.3 tar version for odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806195 and mount it as a PDA in odin, get your phone in download mode and flash it - it takes like 10 seconds and after that wait around 5 minutes till Voodoo converts your file system to ext4. You'll need CWM if you want to flash kernels with recovery coz the 3e stock recovery in 2.2 can't install unsigned files
ok thanks.

[Q] cant flash a stock rom

Far ago I have try to update to 2.3.4 nb0 file by flashing via stock recovery. I've tried to flash firmware.nb0 file but stock recovery reporting error and cant flash it. And then, I renamed firmware.nb0 to update.zip (just rename, didnt do anything more) and when I try to flash update.zip its worked. so now I'm running my device on 2.3.4 with no problem.
But now. I need to flash back to 2.2 but stock recovery cant do it. it cant do flash 2.2 nb0 file as a update.zip or firmware.nb0 file. I must use stock recovery to flashing because my usb hub doesnt work. so how do I flash back to 2.2 with stock recovery?
The error that stock recovery reported is the update is unsigned so its stoped.
ooooppp. could anyone help me?
Use SUTL3 program to load stock 2.2. You can search this forum for both.
