[Q] Froyo Sense - Touch CDMA Android Development

Is it possible to get a port of Froyo Sense to Vogue?
Any help and or Ideas?
(I have a rom dump...)

its certainly possible to port esp since the wildfire is already the correct resolution (i dont know how you would go about doing it though)
but there is no way it would be able to fit on nand, sense builds are really big and we just wont have the room even the 2.1 builds needed an EXT2 partition to run.

Thanks...
Ah well I probably wont get around to using it much...
Im in the market for a new phone
Thanks
Ill live without sense
I'm working on my own custom Froyo build...

also the performance of it wouldnt be anything too spectacular esp since our phones are hurting for ram so as it is, if you want to use sense the old ones are floating around here but froyo is froyo

i think scoot cyanogen build can be modded to sense rom? and with atools we can change partitions.. and when i have data on ext2 phone is fast too.. i think it can be good.... maybe little slower.. but when we oc it it can be really good rom.. can anyone try it? maybe port from wildfire? please.. someone do it..

it doesnt work like that at all, i dont know how to port them but i can tell you you cant just slap it ontop of CM6 and call it a day, htc uses a totally different framework from Aosp

Yeah, you don't want it. It was cool to see the hero rom running on vogue 2 years ago, but they're just not usable. bluetooth doesn't work at all. they're slooooow.
but if you really, REALLY just have to try it, try the tattoo build, it was decent. definitely has its own quirks.

Hero Rom, your feedback - Please

Hey guys,
I'm new to rooting and xda, I'm thinking about getting a Hero rom on my g1 but I have read mixed reviews about lag etc..
My question to you is, are you running a Hero Rom? How does it perform? Which Rom would you recommend?
Thanks, I love you guys.

hero roms when compared to cupcake roms do tend to lag at time. esp when the phone has been runign for hours or days without restart.
in my opinion i think drizzy 2.2r2 is the best hero rom for speed and is pretty stable. i am waiting for drizzy to finish his 5 or 6 rom project and he told me that dopod will be the best hero rom to date.
some hero roms tend to have missing sms...esp when receiving.. i recommend again drizzy 2.2r2 for speed but jacxhero 1.4 or 1.2 is the best as far as stability goes in my opinion. stability meaning lack of bugs. esp in the market and sms issues. but jac hero roms tend to run slower than drizzy.
I'm currently running JacxHeroskiv 1.4 (gotta love the name ) and I find it's fairly useable if you use a 64mb linux-swap partition on a Class 6 card. I only populate one screen, this is just a prefrence, if you use more than one the homescreen is still useable, but sometimes you will swipe and it wont change screen for a few seconds. Battery life is poor. It must be about 3/4 of what I get on Cyanogen Mod, but I can live with that. One of the problems with Hero ROMs is that they are made for a phone without a keyboard. So there are lots of apps that don't rotate and there are issues with the virtual keyboard and hardware keyboard which are ver annoying. If you can live without bluetooth and LEDs (they are working on LEDs) and a slightly slower phone it's worth a try. Just make a nandroid backup before hand.
My advise for the moment is wait from Drizzy Drake's "Dopod" ROM. It's based off and upcoming update for the Hero itself, to make the phone more smooth and add a couple of extra features. We don't really know when it's going to be out but I'm guessing it will be here in a couple of weeks.

According to his latest Tweet it will be released today, he is out running around paying bills, you know the normal stuff people do that have life's, unlike most of us
It's a sad day in my life when I wake up and the first thing I do is check xda for ROM updates! It's Saturday for gods's sake!! I need to get out!
Anyway
I'm running Jac's Hero 1.4 and love it! I'm not one that cares for colors (theme's)
I get NO lag or htc or loading in 4 days since switching to 96mb Linux-swap and swappiness at 60. Love them settings!
SUggest you get it if you want bling and don't care about bluetooth not working
I got back and fourth between Hero and Cyan builds. Check my signature for build types.
My opinion on Hero is this...
It's good to try out and play around with but I wouldn't use it as a primary rom for your phone. In other words... it's good to flash if your bored and with time to kill. I've never had it on my phone for more then a day or two. If you want fast and stable then go for the 4.0.1 Stable Cyanogen Rom (or the updated version depending on when you reference this and since he's updating all the time for improvements) and you won't regret it. Since your considering Hero, I'm assuming that you've already partitioned your sdcard with the ext format. This is a requirement for Hero roms but it optional but recommended for Cyanogen roms (for apps to sd purposes). If you want to bounce back and forth between roms you can use the Switchrom Script with the Cyanogen 1.4 Recovery and it's painless to do. Even without a computer. Give it a shot... the worse that can happen assuming you get past the Danger SPL part is that you won't like one and can switch back.

Ahhh i know the feeling of waking up in the morning with the hope of a brand spanking new rom out there... i do it practically everyday... haha
as for my hero preferences, I'm running JACxHeroski 1.4 as well, only with my swap at 32 and it's running perfectly. been running it for a while and only gotten one or two loading screens.
ALSO, if you check out Teh Dust's Rosie color changer, you can change the entire system colors. it's pretty awesome. i've got a purple rosie and purple framework and everything.
That about says it above. Hero has some cool features I like like flash 9 and some other cool UI stuff. Like it was suggested above and on jac's post use as few screens as possible and I stay away from the weather widget, or I choose one and it usually does okay. For me after the newness wore off I wanted my speed back! Anywho...Go for it!
It's not worth it, not made for g1 no matter what they do to it. Lags no matter what you do. Get Cyanogen's or jacxrom's build.

that's a little negative... sure, it has lag occasionally, if you do it correctly. but then again, cyan's isn't perfect either. don't get me wrong. cyanogen is my go-to cupcake rom. but it still has it's bugs.

I agree...it even lags on the actual hero itself. With that being said it's fun to show off and experience first hand without actually buying a hero. It's cool, Just not stupid fast or super stable as of yet.
And that's what I need...stupid fast! lol
Spent 10 hours today!
I am not new to this stuff...been modding iPhones since the first one came out and so forth. I spent 10 hours today working with Hero...JackHero..I think it was. I loved it! It took some work to make it work however...alot of work. The end result was i twas not fast enough for me. I thought i could comprimise becasue I had seen the demos and such...but I am more "Go " than "Show" Unfortuatly I could not get it as fast as I liked. other than that it is AWESOME!

I think the hero rom is the best one out there. The lag is not really a problem for me(using 92MB swap). However, the they are working on the update that will improve the speed. Nothing beats the Hero's UI!!
I just rooted my phone today after finally getting an 8gb class 6 so I only have one days experience with the hero Rom but so far I like it, the lag is there but I can deal with it for now...my browser is pretty fast and I get all things incoming so I'm happy as long as that works..eventually I'll start to mess with the partions to get it to run a little faster...I've been nodding psp's for years now so I know I could get the hang of this...

Not negative truthful, want him to know what he's getting into before he does it. Every build has bugs that's just the nature of the beast. Patience has nothing to do with it for me personally, I use my phone for a phone above all and I need something reliable.

new UI choices?

hello all. I was just wondering if anyone could update on all possible UI's if more do exist besides Hero and the stock t-mob. I must say i do love Hero very much but more so for me the novelty has allready worn off or maybe im just board with it and love flashing roms. At any rate i was just wondering what else might be available to even try to port or is allready done and maybe just doesnt get any love. Thanks, Veritas
I'm in the same boat as ya. Been trying out different UIs mainly hero and stock ui. I somehow always end up back at the stock ui well cyanogen's ui. I'd say just stick with the fastest ui for now until hero is running completely smooth or buy the htc hero itself. =D
There is also OMS but a working port has yet to surface. There were some folks working on it a couple months ago, but I think they are waiting on a full dump of the Dopod a6188 (the China mobile version of Sapphire/Magic) which runs it. If you want to see what OMS looks like do a video search for Lenovo OPhone.

Your right, we're waiting for xDan to get this dump so can be ported over to dream. Also there is alot of themes (if you look in the theme section) There in a format of a update.zip.
the blur was announced this week. idk if ok to port because im not sure the ui is open.

Yah, the Motorola "Blur" (mentioned in early post) for the Cliq phone would be the next option I think besides the Hero and stock G1. But the cliq is like an 850mhtz phone..If it can be ported, it will prolly have to be cut down to run smooth on G1 and the Hero UI on a G1 still has its issues after months and months of work by XDA devs. Not sure what is in store with the Samsung Bigfoot as far as UI goes, Haven't seen any UI pics, may just be stock donut. LG has an android phone coming out for UK only at this point, but that looks like stock donut.

actually jac 2.1 is not even close to be stable when compared to modaco / akirahs 1.5.1 and jacs 1.6r2a.
2.1 still has bugs that older builds like 1.5.1 and 1.6r2a dont have.

3.1″ HVGA Touch Screen, 320×480 pixels
Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz
512 MB ROM, 256 RAM
114mm x 58mm x 15.6mm
the click is not a 850mhz phone. its 528mhz as you can see. and 256 ram... which is less than hero(288mb) so prolly BLUR might run smoother than hero when fully optimized.
the only android phone that has a processor higher than 600mhz is the sony ericsson xperia x3(rachael) at 1ghz
yeah i have thinking of trading in my g1 for a cliq next month. but the new "ui" is basically widgets that are attached to a blur account. so i dont see this is working on the the g1 we will most likely get a launcher that has 5 home screens and the colors but i doubt much else.

best daily use HERO ROM

Hey guys, I am a bit tired of donut 1.6 and would like to jump up to hero (because 2.0 is pretty much a dead os, and 2.1 is not at the stage where its dialy use)
I am wondering what your favourite hero rom is (hopefully with a link).
Are there any hero roms which are still updated, and have any hero roms. Come to the point where they are suitable for daily use?
I like MLIGN's with 96mb swap on a class 6 sd, but you just have to try them out for yourself.
I know there is mglin and sense hero. Is eclair hero, hero or eclair?
A hero rom is basically a rom with a custom UI that HTC calls sense.
Most of the hero roms here are based on android 1.5 (Cupcake) Like MLIGN's.
Eclair hero is android 2.1 (or 2.0, but I am pretty sure it is 2.1) with HTC's sense UI. I have no experience using this rom.
Lol "Jump up to hero" From a 1.6 ROM?
more like fall down a huge cliff but yeah MLIGN is one of the best ways to go.
running V3.3 now and loving it.
lol, i havent tried a hero rom and would need to make my own kernal for it so i wanted to know which was the best before jumping in, i guess ill go with that one then.
What exactly do you mean by jumping down rather than up, i know the speed will be less what else?

Nah its that you said you wanna jump up to a Hero rom that's not 2.1 from a 1.6 rom.Normal hero Rom's are 1.5 so its more like jumping down then up. there arent really many differences. Hero ROM's are pretty quick so that's not gunna be an issue.

I like jcarzz more. although its bugging me out all of a sudden!
Personally, I had bad luck with MLIGN. But maybe that's just me. It ran fine for awhile, then I started getting random freezeups and reboots up the ass. Tried a wipe and reflash, ext repair, etc, but alas, no luck. But I'm also running a Class 2 SD card so maybe that's what did me in. I'm sure MLIGN is a great ROM
I'm using SenseHero 1.4, with BFS 300 + RAM Hack, and so far I'm nothing but pleased . No random lockups or reboots yet, everything's veryy smooth and I haven't had the loadscreen for Rosie come up at all yet (aside from initial boot, of course).
Current continuous uptime is at something like 15 hours right now (my battery died this morning - I've been using the ROM for a few days now).
Bottom line though -- ya just gotta try em and find what works best for you.
I'd say top contenders are MLIGN, SenseHero, Jac's Hero, and King's Eclair Hero.

hTc WildFire

The roms are here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=703655
the wildfire is similar to our vogue in size
Maybe someone can port it
Looks interesting...

incubus, as much as its great to have the latest OS (froyo) on our trusty old vogues, its starting to feel like running windows vista on my old celeron. Meaning maybe FROYO and all its capabilites are weighing us down. Maybe Froyo is just not fully optimized yet. How is the speed of this rom relative to the ROM you and DZO are putting out?

That's pretty much the impression I get when I run froyo, which is why it's so hard for me to give up donut. If I had a copy of eclair with improved performance, though, I would jump ship in a minute!
Sent from my Sprint Vogue with Myn's odexed Warm Donut
Hmmm... I'm surprised you're finding Froyo slow - for me it's as snappy as Donut if not even faster on the Vogue. Regardless it's nice to have this ROM from a native 320x240 device to try out.

Plemen, which NBH and build are you using? I've been using Myn's Odexed Warm Donut for a while, and before that I used DZO's Odexed Donut for a bit. Every week or so, I back up my Donut and test out the newest Froyo iteration, and the speed difference is pretty drastic. From my experience, it is about as fast as Eclair, but in no way as fast as Donut.
However, I would LOVE to be wrong. If I have just been using a buggy Froyo build and /or NBH, and the thing is actually really fast, I will so be there!
NICE!
I would love to have a faster sense available for my Vogue just for tampering.. But hands down Froyo is by far the fastest release for my phone. It even beats the NFSFAN Winmo rom that I use sometimes (just for pocketufo). Warm Donut was great but I havent found a single reason to stray from Froyo. While ive had some issues with rls 11 and 12.. rls 10 has been nothing short of amazing for me

I'm using the latest 240x320 nbh and latest build from dzo:
nbh:

build:

There are minor issues here and there but dzo has been super quick dealing with things as they come up.
Of course incubus's build is really nice as well.

Absolutely NO! dzo's nbh files are only for vogue/kaiser/polaris/nike. This thread is about porting wildfire rom to our devices.

[Q]best rom on my g1

yo wassup people
i got my g1 on cyanogen nigtly 25x or 27x some **** like that...
it has the kernel with extra memory and also that new radio...
so right now i wondder, since ive been out of the game for like a month or 2
what is the overall best rom you would choose?
i know that the gingerbread roms arent gonna be 100% even tho cyanogen got someone workin on it, so i wont ask about those...
but what about this new froyo by laszlo? or biffmod? sparksmod? how do they stack up?
i do a lot of reading but it dont help much and im already too busy so i cant actually test them all right now... so i wonder does anyone have prior experience with these mentioned roms, or possibly better ones...
any response would be appreciated thanks

Cyanogen has got nobody working on gingerbread on G1. EzTerry is the legacy master for G1 gingerbread and many variations of his gingerbread roms have become available. The best I found and currently using is Ginger Yoshi by Yoshua. You can find it in the HTC SAPPHIRE/MAGIC forum. Its almost hundred percent. Very fast and cool. Try it

They have been talking about Cyanogen taking on (or asking somebody to take on) gingerbread for G1/Magic since the day gingerbread was announced but that has been categorically denied by Cyanogen himself several times. As for trying Froyo roms goes, its your choice brother......but its a huge PSYCHOLOGICAL pleasure and satisfaction when you see "ANDROID VERSION 2.3.2" written in your phone settings......that phone which is two and a half years old....well I love it that we dream/sapphire users have fast and cool gingerbread roms while Samsung Galaxy people have just got froyo only.........LOL

You should definitely try FroyoByLaszlo. Its probably the best ROM I've ever used. I've been using it since v1, and I usually never stay on a ROM for this long. It's by far way faster than any other Froyo ROM I've used. Plus, there's quite a lot of themes for it, so you can do a lot of customizing.

Laszlo is fast and from what I've been reading, has good battery life. I'm actually downloading the rom now to try out the new version. I've been using CM 6.1. That is also a good rom. You might want to try both of them and maybe other roms to. Just to see which one you like. Use them for a few days so you can check stability and batterylife.
Thanks man, I am currently using ezterry's AOSP and I can tell you that it is much2 faster than biffmod, you guys should try it! you have to upgrade the spl and radio first but it is not hard!
Happy flashingggg!!
