G1 Won't Pass Boot Up Screen

My G1 will not go past the boot screen, I tried to change the theme by adding a update.zip file to the sd card and now the phone will not boot up. It gets stuck at the G1 screen. The phone was rooted; however, for some reason that no longer comes up when I hold the HOME and END buttons. I tried uploading RC29 - RC33 to try and fix the problem and got this message:

I've been searching google all day and haven't found the solution yet! Please help.

By 'that' do you mean the recovery console? Did you flash cyan's 1.4 recovery? Can you enter bootloader/fastboot? What rom did you have? What theme did you flash?

Yes, the recovery console doesn't show up the way it would if the phone were rooted, it comes up the unrooted way. I did flash cyan's 1.4 recovery though, so I'm confused to why this is happening. I don't know what bootloader/fastboot is, but if that's whats supposed to come up after holding the camera and end button then I don't think I have it. A colorful striped screen shows up. I had Cupcake 1.5 installed and I was trying to add a theme from theunlockr. com called Hero Theme by Tehseano & Moonsspoon. I hope that helped..

Possibly the theme you tried to install didn't go with the rom you have. But some background information will help to fix your problem.

What background information do you need?

Just like the second poster said. What rom were you on? What theme did you try to flash, and what was it compatible with? I know you said you tried to reflash RC29, did that ever work?

Sorry, I'm new to this Android stuff. I don't know what ROM I was on, all I know is that I had Cupcake 1.5 installed. There had been no previous themes applied beforehand.

The flashing was unsuccessful.
The only other information I have is:
1.) Model Number - T-Mobile G1
2.) Firmware Version - 1.5
3.) Baseband Version - 62.50s.20.17H_2.22.19.261
4.) Kernel Version - 2.6.27-00393-g6607056 [email protected] #1
5.) Build Number - CRC 1

So you had JF rom with a theme then tried to install what theme? You may have to reflash a stock DREAIMG.nbh and start from scratch.
But you really need to provide more information.

How would I reflash it? What other information would be helpful, I'm sorry I'm trying to give all of the info that I can, but I don't know what else you need to know. Please email me at [email protected] if possible. Thank you.

Prolly your best bet is to start from scratch. Reflash RC29 and continue from there. But this time make sure you know whats on your phone and what your flashing.

G1 Won't Boot

so today i was trying to change my current JF ROM to CyanogenMod and everything seemed to be going well untill the second reboot. My g1 stayed at the tmobile G1 screen and wont go past it. i dont think my phone is bricked because i can use the HOme+Power and go to that screen. However thats all i can do. What can i do to make my phone work again?

do you have the cyanogens 1.4 loader?

Upgraded adp1 1.6 to cyanogen..but now my adp1 is a g1...

So I successfully downgraded my phone from adp1 donut to rc29 g1 (instead of adp1 1.1 my mistake) and then upgraded it to cyanogen. So...how excatly do I get my phone to realize that it's an android dev phone instead og a g1 with cyanogen?? thx

I'm pretty (from my noob handbook) sure it's the rom...try flashing back to the adp image and seeing if it's recgonized as a adp

It wont, the build prop has it labeled as a G1-Tmo phone not a dev version.If you just flash the adp image in recovery mode that wont be such a good idea.

adp1 to cyanogen
I am stuck with adp1. I accidentally flashed it, how did you downgrade. I am a noob, my boot screen shows an explanation mark over a phone, and whenever I hold camera with power button it stays on rainbow sceen. Is there a link u can show me. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I flashed the adp image into the phone and it wasn't such a great idea lol...what u have to do now is startover and treat your phone like a g1 basically. downgrade to rc29 with dreaimg.nbh..go here and follow the instructions from there

Is my G1 Bricked?

Hey.
I had my G1 today it was running Cyanogenmod 5.0.7 (the latest)
all worked fine untill this morning I hooked it up on USB.
Suddenly the phone reboots and keeps hanging on the G1 Splash screen.
Recovery wont work (home+power)
SPL wont work (camera+power)
it just hangs..
is there a way to fix this or do I need to return it?

sounds like a brick to me. i just bricked my phone 2minutes ago. i flashed death spl before updating radio. this what happens when you dont sleep and start flashing away. tmobile sending me a new g1 told them my phone froze and pulled battery out. rebooted and was just hanging on g1 screen, played dumb for the techs, and now im getting new one,

I already figured.
Although I didn't flash the danger SPL.
I actually had the rooted phone downgraded back to stock 1.6.
And after that the phone went downhill.
had alot of FC's and applications that were installed that came up telling me it wasnt installed but couldnt redownload from the market etc.
Really weird...
ahh well ill call tmobile later today.

So you tried pulling your battery out....and then turning the phone back on using Home + Power?
What about Camera + Power?

i rooted my g1 then put a rom in it and it didnt work when i turned it on it staid on the g1 screen so i tried to unroot it n fix it but now its like stuck on 1.0 with TC29 build number i need help to just get my g1 back to unrooted 1.6 fresh so any help please
