low battery vibration while SILENT - turn off??? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi i recently got the samsung captivate and i really like this phone except for the "low battery" warning which when in SILENT mode vibrates for like 2 seconds and screen comes on. this is ridiculous as it wastes the battery of the phone even more for the screen + vibration. i had this happen on an older samsung phone i had SGH-E870. SILENT sound profile means SILENT!! does anyone know how i can stop this from happening?
thanks in advance for any help.

Is your vibrate set to only vibrate in silent mode?
It's under settings for Sound> Vibrate
Sent from my Captivate

ill check but im pretty sure i have only seletected SILENT. the phone hasnt made a peep or vibrate for 4 hours except for this low battery vibration with screen coming on. ill check tho.
thanks

i looked under sounds and display there is no options to adjust vibrate. i have it set to SILENT. but when low batt comes on it vibrates with message of low batt displayed on screen.

Looks like a job for tasker.

Have you had any luck with this issue??

I usually have my phones on a scheduled soft reset in the middle of the night. I put it face down so the light wouldn't wake me but the Kaiser(Qualcomm) does a vibrate pulse as if I needed that... Anyone know how to disable that?

There is a software, but I think a registry tweak will be easier:
Code:
Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/AllLEDMgr
Change the "Index" value from 1 to 0
Soft-reset the device
Killing the vibrate isn't a feature, it's a consequence in this case.
And, it's not killing the vibrate on reset/power on.
I think this is something on the chipset level that can only be resolved by a altered ROM or "chipset" update from Qualcomm...??
stop vibrate at every soft-reset
Has someone been able to stop the vibrate starting at every soft-reset ?
I prefer to think of it more as a shudder whilst yawning as it wakes up
How to reduce the vibration time period ?
When I put my PPC in vibration mode and a remind alarm arrives, my PPC is vibrating for a TOO much long time ! I just want it to make, 1 short vibration , how do configure the PPC to do that ?

Surely this must be a hardware issue which can't be changed?
I've change my ROM and radio more times than i can remember and still have the same issue. Correct me if i'm wrong but don't some of these ROM bases even come from different WM hardware (which doesn't have this problem)?
I don't think the vibration duration is linked with the hardware, there must be a way to configure this, as it is possible to configure the ringtone to increase the sound or not.
Anyone has already tried changing the vibration duration ?

There's 2 ways you can put your phone into vibration mode:
1: tap the speaker icon on the top bar of the phone and select "vibrate" from the on, vibrate, off options.
2: tap the speaker icon on the top bar and leave it set to "on", but drag the two volume sliders to the bottom.
If you use method #1, when you get a notification it will give you 3 short bursts of vibration.
If you use method #2, the duration of vibration for reminders and other notifications (email, sms, etc.) is related to the length of the audio alert. I have my phone set to make noise and vibrate at the same time and when I get a message, it vibrates for the entire time that it's making noise, and not a bit longer. When I drag the volume sliders down instead of putting it exclusively into "vibrate" it vibrates for the same amount of time, so I imagine it is still playing the sound file I have associated for that notification, just not outputting it to the speaker, and vibrates while the sound file is playing.
So if you want a shorter vibration when your alarm arrives, choose a shorter beep, tone, jingle, whatever sound you want it to make when you get an alarm. Or use option #1 for putting it into vibration mode if the 3 short bursts are acceptable to you.
The vibrate upon startup is some low level thing, and I have no idea how to change it.

Loudspeaker remains on

Hey guys,
I've noticed that my phone's Loudspeaker stays on and does not turn off (it makes a quiet shshshshshsh sound) as usual after 2 or 3 seconds after playing a sound it should turn off. but it doesnt.
This happens randomly, and i cant find exactly when it happens, and i have to soft reset the phone to make it right.
it uses a lot of battery power. when i feel that the phone eats up battery, i put the phone near my ear and there is shshshshshsh noise.
but after soft reset, it has great battery life.
any reason?!!
I just noticed this sound today! it is weird! wth is up with it? is htc aware?

So this is not my phone's problem only. I think the os causes the problem.
I've found that this happens after receiving SMS, if i'm in sms page (where i type message) and screen is turned off.
(in the sms page it playes a ding sound instead of sms tone. but sometimes when screen is turned off, it plays both 'Ding' and sms tone. in this case loudspeaker stays on with a noise, and eats up battery)
It should happen with every WP, so dont be worried.
Regards,
SL55
same speaker problem with my HD7 !
any solution ? i don't think other phones have same issue. most probably it is HD7 bug.

HTC One Soundprofiles

Hey,
just wanted to ask a question concerning a slight issue I'm having with my HTC One.
With my SGS3 I was used to simply shut of all sounds and vibration during work/school, so that there are no vibration sounds while lying on my desk. Then, I would want to put it back into "only sound mode", so to have no annoying vibration sounds while lying on my desk, but just sound.
In order to do this, I have to check all apps and disable vibration in those apps, am I right? Like disabling vibration in whatsapp, facebook messenger etc.
But then my problem is, that when I want to add vibration when carrying it around in my pocket, I would need to add again vibration in every single app?
In fact, I would like to have a completely silent profile (no vibration, no sounds), a vibration only profile, and a sound only profile. Is this in any way possible to achieve?
Thanks in advance,
Ben
bump
I'll bump this as well. Has anyone found any nonrooted solution to this yet? I DLed Sound Profiles from Play, but that didn't seem to do what I wanted.
Thanks
Open options, click Sound, Profiles are right there (Normal,Vibration and Silent).

Normal includes vibration. There is no option for Sound but No Vibration. Driving me crazy!

Well, you can go to Settings / Sounds and turn off vibration during calls. I think that would shut it off.
Also, you can disable vibration in the power saver menu, even if that is all you shut off.

Turning off in calls doesn't turn it off in Notifications.
The downside to the power saver option is then I can't have haptic feedback on capacitive buttons.

The power save option to turn off vibration feedback doesn't affect the buttons?
EDIT: I'm not sure I entirely understand. But I'm using the Business calendar application for the reminders, and it has full control of vibration.

Sound mode changes to Sound+Vibrate at midnight

I'm using the notification power widget buttons to change sound modes on my phone.
I usually tap it to change it to Silent at night (no vibration, no sound) but sometimes a call or a message would wake me up even though I had set the phone to silent.
I recently discovered that the phone changes to Sound+Vibrate at midnight. I'm using this ROM but I have no idea if that's what is causing the problem.
Anyone else has this issue?

[Q][Help] Notification/Ringer goes silent

Ive noticed since I got my X on Monday that randomly my notification/ringer won't make any sounds. Even if I have it set to the loudest possible setting. When I choose the volume thru the volume buttons the sound when raising or lowering doesnt always work either. I have all the settings correct to make sounds. Could this be a Lollipop thing, or is it my X? Has anyone else had this happen?
Yeah, it's been happening with my device aswell.. no idea what could be the reason, either the Lollipop update or some conflicts with moto apps perhaps? Wish I could fix it.
Bumping this in case someone finds a solution!
I found that if I use the volume buttons to change volumes it goes silent. So I just adjust the volume in the settings/sound to change volume.
I've noticed that the volume takes a step down in certain apps and situations, for instance: whenever I get a notification from whatsapp with the screen both on/off, the volume is rock solid.. but whenever a notification comes through facebook messenger with screen off, the volume is ABSOLUTELY low; meanwhile, with the screen on the volume is fine with both of them. SMS, Youtube and Email notifications are fine aswell (for now).
EDIT: well, it happens randomly even when ringing from a phone call even after adjusting from the settings and not the volume rockers. Gosh, Moto should fix this one asap.
If we had a LED I wouldn't care. I have to keep turning my screen on to see if I have a text msg
