best rom:
Froyo: Official AOSP 2.2 OTA
Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620
Reason: Well first im not a fan of froyo roms but this ones the fastest so far and it doesnt have all the junk lots of other froyo roms have its also not bad on battery life maybe the best on every froyo i tried
Eclair: Xillius200's,Mikeyman77's,Spikeynick94's DroidEris 2.1r3
Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807183
Reason
* Fast for sense
* Sense UI is sexy
* Updated more frequently then any other sense UI ive seen
Donut: Super D 1.11
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613809
Reason
* Good battery life
* fast
thats pretty much all for that all though updates come rather slow maybe zx donut is better anywho idk for themes
I would recommend GammaFly. It has all the speed and stability of the 2.2 AOSP ROM, except for it has a really nice theme put on it.

Not for me. The battery life is just as good as it was on the 2.2 AOSP ROM. And GammaFly is pretty much the same as 2.2 AOSP, because it is based off of it, and the only big changes to the ROM is theming, and some added apps, which shouldn't affect speed and battery life. At least in my opinion.
thanks to all of you
i would try them and see whats best for me tnx!

which eclair sense rom is most stable, fast, long battery life and works best on the g1?? ive heard great things about kingklick, superbad and artifex i am currently using super E 1.0.2 i love the speed and stability but want more eyecandy
How about just searching and asking people on that ROMs thread instead of making your own thread?
Anyway, try out SuperBad v1.5 with LauncherPro
Is it possible to make the new miui lockscreen flashable just like the miui camera is?
Should be able to. Just try to push it to system/app before you do just to make sure its gonna to work first.
The lockscreen in miui isn't an apk so I don't think it is that easy. I doubt their lockscreens will work on other rom's either.
Oh ok. well I don't know much about miui. Im sure someone could figure it out though
Just use MIUI its better anyway.... Has Iphone, sense3.0, and gingerbread lockscreens without zips to install just go into themes...
I'm pretty sure it's tied into the framework... so, lots of work to do there if you're truly interested, haha. I'd use MIUI but CM7 is just faster and there's a million more, IMO, useful customization features compared to MIUI... pretty much the whole Cyanogenmod Settings tab. The one thing that really bugs me about MIUI is the menu system. It's beautiful, as it replicates that of the iPhone, but it's always been so laggy for me, I can't deal with it.

That's a shame. From the pictures, it looks like a combination between the honeycomb ring/ripple-lock and the sense 3.0 ring-lock. Both of which I like, so the newest miui lockscreen had me all excited. Lol

MIUI is built from open source but the rom itself isn't open source. It simply isn't possible.
MIUI > Vanilla Android
I was a loooooooooong time CM6 and CM7 user. But the latest MIUI is blazing. IMHO it's faster than CM7 in day to day use (I don't benchmark) and more stable.
MIUI has so many hidden subtleties throughout the ROM. Use it for a week and see if you like it
I liked MIUI in the froyo days. It was super stable and smooth. However ever since Gingerbread it's been much laggier across the board and far less stable than the froyo build. Swiping between homescreens is no longer smooth unless you use a hack that disables wallpaper scrolling (miuiandroid build) or keep your homescreens widget free with minimal icons. Of course if you use an alternate launcher then that isn't even a concern. But as mentioned earlier, the menus are also very laggy and annoying to use. I will admit the new dark theme makes it look a dream, but it has a bug that makes screen rotation take a relatively long time to flip and as such less usable.
CM7 may not have the aesthetic superiority that MIUI has but at least everything is smooth and gingerbread. I would love to see the MIUI lockscreen on CM7 but that will never happen.
Sent from my Droid Incredible using the XDA app.
To all that have a complaint about MIUI - the rotation lag is normally tied to a theme at the moment, I don't get lag anywhere else. Make sure you try your favorite launcher as well - I don't like the one that comes with it but if I swap over to Go launcher everything is nice and smooth again and I can find my stuff!
On the other hand, I have never found a rom other than CM7 with so much raw speed. CM7 will restore all my stuff insanely fast - all others are fairly slow in comparison. But how often do you go restoring everything unless you swap roms daily and are on fresh builds! I have really been enjoying MIUI lately, especially with the new themes and lock screens.
I'd say my favorite thing about MIUI is not having to install a decent camera app everytime. That was kind of annoying with CM7 which is otherwise wonderful as is.
Hi all...read about Sense themes for other phones on CM7...
I downloaded the sense.apk and I want to know if it is in fact working ok on the TB.
I'm not a fan of LPP, ADW, etc. I like sense. Hate all you want...lol.
I would like to try the CM underpinnings with the Sense face/feel.
TIA!
you are completely defeating the purpose of putting CM7 on your thunderbolt. If you like sense stick with the sense roms if you hate sense like a good percentage of people out there go with CM7.
Maybe I'm not understanding properly.
A sense theme is a bit different than running sense itself, no?
I would like the speed and battery life of CM7 but the look of sense.
The speed and life would still be CM7 based, not sense based...or am I way off base here?
Maybe a better question is...has anyone on CM7 tried a sense theme and reported differences in speed and battery life...?

Not true at all. Some use CM7 because Sense is so bloated, not necessarily for looks. I wouldn't mind having the speed and lightweight of CM7 with the looks of Sense.
Also, to the OP. You can make the device look like Sense with the 'HTC Elegance, theme and LPP with some tweaks to make it look like Sense, but it would be too much to get the Sense launcher onto CM7 if that's what you're asking.

Exactly what I was getting at. Thank you!
I'm looking for the correct link for these themes that will work on the TBolt.
Or...is CM7 generic in this nature? I've got a great CM7 nandroid I keep going back and playing with...this would be the icing on the cake possibly.
Try inj3cttheory its a desensed Rom with most of the best parts of sense lest in its fast great battery life but still has a slight sense feel

If you are using themes, as long as you download one that says 'hdpi', you should be set. I'm not sure if HTC Elegance is hdpi (i believe it is), but as long as it's hdpi you shouldn't have a problem using the theme on CM7
This should, in fact, work on CM7 for the TB

Thank you to all. Gonna give CM a fighting chance.

Totally forget the name right now, but there is a launcher that will mimic the Sense style launcher.... It also does a few other styles. Hopefully someone else knows what I'm talking about and can give you a name.
Which Sense rom with 3.0 features have you been successful with?
I tried ARHD w/ 3.0 add-ons, and it was fast and smooth, but the battery life can't compare to CM7
What are your experiences with Virtuous, or other roms? Which kernels did you like?
My current favorite is CM7 with the CM kernel, I get 2+ days of normal use, 1+ day of heavy use, 5hrs 30min+ of screen on time! What do you get with your favorite ROM?
Thanks!
I've only tried CM7 so far. I am curious though, do the Sense ROMs rotate the buttons?

Yes, the rotating buttons are a HTC Sense feature and is not a basic feature of Android Open Source that CM 7 is based on.
Nice, I might give Android Revolution a try then.
ARHD 1.1.6 is the best, and I love the gui of MIUI rom
Ehab's 2.3.4 sense 3 ROM has been the perfect mix of performance and battery life imo..
Other sense 3 roms seem to chew battery but this one is great

i have nothing but praise for vu 2.39. stable, fast, beautiful, and great battery life to boot.
arhd, however, takes the cake. i've used it on a couple of phones and it's the best sense rom imo. just waiting for mike to update it to sense 3.0 (or 3.5 hopefully).

I'm just using sense 3 for a change.
I bet mike will make an amazing sense 3 ROM

newts rom were pretty nice for a while.. what a shame he stopped though!
I'll throw my support behind Virtuous Unity. I have played with ARHD, and i found it just OK, but the full Sense 3.0 experience in VU blows it away.
I am excited to hear about Pyramid 3D as well, but it looks like its not ready yet.
Jorte widget display is not clearly in VU rom

Hi I'm currently using Virtuous Quattro Rc3... But there is something that ain't working like the videocam and some gameloft games..
So I wanna know what is your favorite rom and why is it your favorite

fully agree
whats the difference with roms?
whats the difference between gingerbread, sense and ICS? do all the apps still work on any?...
i currently have a downgraded version so i could finally S-off and root the phone now looking at what to use
im guessing the CM7 or Nik Trinity Sensation XL V.4.0 sounds like the go?
There's no doubt that Nik's and CM7's one of the most popular ROMs around. But there are other ROMs like CoreDroid or MIUI. So it depends on what you want your device to feel like at the end of the day. Personally I prefer CM7 because it doesn't have htc sense which boosts the performance speed a lot but due to the less developed camera app, I switched to Nik's Sensation XL because I really need a good phone camera.

I am not agree. I had some glitches with this ROM which I don't have with others.
I found Virtous Affinity more stable and less battery-hungry.
My fav is Android Revolution HD, Sense 3.0, no fancy add ons but very stable, bug free und battery friendly.
I've tried most ROMs.
Miui: don't like the look or feel of it. Too iPhone ish and hence reeks of KIRF syndrome (iPhone envy).
Coredroid: battery drain excessive.
CM7: excellent battery life, geeky interface, no integration between apps like sense, poor in call volume unless you use tiamat kernel.
Sense 3.5 ROMs like niks, virtuous, runny etc: beautiful visual interface, sometimes too much bling making the phone slow & overworked. Poorer battery life, best UI.
ICS ROMs: still experimental, buggy, bad to unusable camera & FM radio. Same geeky interface, and seems worse than CM7 IMO.
Sense 3.0 ROMs like ARHD: best balance between UI, ease of use and battery life.
You may wish to differ in your opinions, but at least respect the other's opinion & choices. See my signature for my choices

First, you're not idiot (I think), between GB (without sense)/ GB + Sense/ and ICS, a lot of graphical changes; that's attractive i think.
Then, you know that Sense is visually beautiful, but pretty battery killer..
Everything's depents your needs: If you wanna have a succesful user interface, choose ROM with Sense, If you wanna have latest piece of cake from Google, choose ICS ROM.
About apps; some GB apps will doesn't work with ICS. And vice versa.
Hope i was helpful
Used CM7 for a couple of weeks. Liked it, but then went to Virtuous Quattro and probably won't look back from ICS. Google Chrome for it is really fantastic to have compared to the stock Android browser.

I can't stand Sense so I've always been a Cyanogen fan from the first moment I tried it. Every now and then I try MIUI but after a day or 2 I always come back to CM.
I like VQ and CM's AOSP settings UI, but I also like Sense's widgets and hate the Sense settings UI.
If there was ever a way (highly unlikely) to combine the weather widget into CM7/CM9, that's all I could ask for as I don't miss anything else from it.
Beautiful/Fancy widgets and the rest of the stuff are nice imitations, but not good enough.

cm7 , miui (AOSP is fast, smooth and stable with great battery life)
niks trinity (great battery life for a sense 3.5 rom, fast, great support)
virtuous affinity (same)
ARHD (stock feel with good stability and awesome battery life)
Miui. It's fast, smooth and it's customisation options are unparalleled. I'd say, outside of a sense ROM, it's the most polished available.
