[Q] Nandroid Restore hangs - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I think I´ve got a little problem.
I wanted to restore a backup with the Recovery (RA v. 1.7x) but since about 45min my phone does nothing... only the full stops are going to be more and more and now my screen is full of them...
So as a conclusion: Since 45min my phone tries to restore my backup.
So what shoukd I do?
I´m afraid to brick my phone if I remove the battery or do sth. during restore...
EDIT: Problem solved...
Noticed that adb commands are working during restore and so it was possbile to reboot my phone...

NAND restores often don't go so well for some reason.
You can either NVFlash your phone back to life, or pick this moment to move to a custom ROM
it works thanks

[Q] Need some serious help with Clockworkmod Recovery bootloop...

and before i even explain whats happened and how i got here
no exitrecovery.zip did not work :'(
So I had in the past had the RevoToolkit installed with clockworkmod working and I made a backup, i went to restore it today and revotoolkit was broken and would not let me have access to recovery mode through the program like normal...
I messed up and did a factory reset with the volume and power key thing after watching a youtube video saying that that was how you get into recovery... silly me :'(
it kinda reinstalled my android os but not really the lock screen and the home buttons didnt work, and after i reinstalled all my apps with titanium backup it bricked my phone
performing another factory reset kinda got it back again
but obviously i could not use my phone like that
well in that same post with a video was an installiation guide for clockwork with adb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121952
so being a DIYer i installed it successfully but when i restored my backup it got stuck in a bootloop that only goes to clockworkmod recovery
not even any android os so now im in serious trouble with no phone at all... and i have a feeling that you cant get verizon to replace when you obviously are the one who messed it up and voided the warranty or whatever
and again no the exitrecovery.zip did not work
so what now

[Q] Urgent help Phone not booting and stuck at samsung galaxy note screen

hello
i had clean installed the JB rom xxlsa on my note
my battery died while i was playing a game so i put the phone on charging
now when i turned it on its not starting
what shud i do
i booted into recovery and tried to clear cache and dalvik cache also reinstalled the rom from memorycard but still the same
can anyone guide me
Reinstall like the 1st time, do all wipes + formats then flash.
Is the phone looping ? Meaning on the glowing samsung logo, It vibrates then restarts the animation over and over again ?
Also, how long has it been like this ? Have you left the phone to charge for around 30mins before trying to power on ?
Im certain its nothing serious as you can still get into recovery and its still attempting to boot, So maybe its ROM / Kernel related.
EDIT: I just noticed you said its stuck on the Galaxy Note screen, not the boot animation... Have you by any chance just flashed philz kernel ? I had this issue the other day and I could only get it to boot by doing a full reset
BUT....... If recovery is working, Make a nandroid backup, reset the phone, then restore the apps from the nandroid using titanium backup. That way you wont lose any apps that you have installed since your last backup.

Well your contacts will be backed up with google but im pretty sure a nandroid will back them up too, including sms's
Titanium will only restore apps from a nandroid, if you want to restore other things, try this app
What is disturbing is this just happened to me as well. My battery also ran down while using an xxLSA based ROM and won't boot past the "Samsung Galaxy Note" logo. Fully charging my phone so I can do a reinstall.
edit: Just confirming that Factory Reset fixes the problem. All my data is backed up so I went for it.

yes factory reset solved the problem for me
but now back to 4.0.4
Just to make another confirmation: This happened to me running an lsa based rom also.
Same here. LSA based Rom. Happened 2nd time already. So annoying.

Me too. I tried at least 4 times to get v5 installed. It works fine until I try to install any app such as Titanium. Then it gets stuck at the first Samsung .. screen on the next reboot.
It's really p****ng me off. There must be a hell of a bug in this ROM.
This is the result of hurry. Let the developer test the firmware first. Not everything is flashable let the devs make a sacrifice first then on his recommendation install the FW

[Q] Repair bootloop without loosing the data?

Hi guys!
I was using the Apocalypse ROM for over half a year, just recently my battery started to go bad, the cell phone wasn't able to be operable for more than few minutes and yesterday it got turned off in the process of booting up.
Since then, even though I got new battery or when I plug it to the charger, when I turn it on, the phone starts booting and the gets stuck switching between the Apocalypse screen and the cyanogen mod screen. It never boots into the system.
I don't have any backup anymore cause the phone was working ok long time. Of course I can reinstall the system, but with the normal process I would loose all my data.
So my question is: is there a way to repair the system (bootloop) and get to the system without wiping out all the data I have there?
Make a nandroid backup and wipe.. Later on you can restore using titanium backup
Since, ur rom isn't booting anymore & u don't even have its backup:sly:, the following info might help ya:-
★First of all, take a Nandroid backup★
Do u still have Apocalypse Rom.zip?? If yes, then,
1. Goto recovery,
2. Format /system(Note:Don't format/wipe anything except /system)
3. Then install the Apocalypse rom.zip the usual way.
But do this on ur risk.

[Q] Galaxy Ace: stuck in bootloop for unknown reason?

Reposting this here…
Hi, all!
My Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) running under a custom ROM The Ultimatum (I've been using this custom firmware for a few weeks now, with no real problems up until now), is bootlooping with no apparent reason. On a rare occasion, most apps on the phone stopped responding and would crash upon opening, and would require a restart before they worked again. Well this happened to me a few hours ago, so I decided to reboot my phone. After coming back to check my phone, I had found it was still booting. This has gone on for several hours now, and I've tried turning it on and off, removing batteries and everything. It's stuck in bootloop. I found this was odd, as I have had no dramas with the firmware I've been using. I have not made ANY recent changes to the phone whatsoever, so I can hardly believe it would be my fault.
Now, my question is; how do I fix this without wiping all data and installing a clean ROM? I have a lot of stuff in the internal storage I can't afford to lose, and it's really important to me. A full wipe of all data would not be ideal. I can access recovery mode.
I have tried a suggestion a user here made and made a nandroid backup, did a full wipe, reinstalled the ROM (which allowed me to get out of the bootloop) and then restored the data from the backup (which stuck me back in a bootloop). Still no idea and I really don't want to lose this data. If it's too much effort to fix the loop, is it possible to extract the data from the backups on a PC and manage to restore it to a clean wipe?
Thanks in advance!
Fixed my problem by doing a clean installation, and using Titanium Backup to extract the data from my nandroid backup. It was quite a simple solution, really. No idea why no one seemed to suggest it, though.
Oh well, my problem is solved.
