[Q] Unable to add photos to contacts - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm a Android newbie. I recently got a Samsung Captivate (default f/w version: I897UCJH7), which I upgraded to Froyo (I897UCJI6) and rooted etc. I also deleted a bunch of stock apps.
The problem: when I try to add a photo to a contact, it fails. When I go from Contacts->Edit-> (click on photo icon) -> Select Photo -> Album - it always says: 'No pictures are available on the phone.' I have photos taken with the phone that are in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera. I also tried with external photos copied into that folder. Not sure if this worked out of the box/prior to all the hacks.
Also, when I go the other way - click the camera app, pick an existing photo and say 'Set As' -> and pick a contact -> it crashes (vibrates) and then throws up this message: 'The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.' This definitely worked out of the box (prior to the upgrade/rooting).
What's wrong - is this a result of the upgrade/loss of some apps? :-( How can I fix it? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have installed the leaked froyo, that has some problems that come along with it. Personally, I have not flashed the leaked froyo bare version so I would not know. I recommened flashing cognition 2.3b6 because it is based on the captivate froyo leak and it is very stable.

HELP - FTtouchFlo ERROR

A few months ago, I installed the CUBE. I uninstalled it a while back. Ever since then when I do a hard/soft reset, when the phone comes back online I get the following error:
"The file 'FTtouchFlo' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
Also, when I go to Start --> Programs...I have 3 SCLPF folders, each with Cube Settings Icon inside. There is a SCLPF settings folder as well. I can't delete them, can't find them in a search (on the phone or through active sync). The cube and TouchFlo are not in my "remove programs" settings either.
Can someone give me a clue? I want to get rid of these folders and the annoying pop up error i have been receiving upon start-up. Thanx in advance for your help!
I've got the same Problem, dosen't anyone know how we can delete this Problem?
At first Sorry for my bad english
you most likely have an entry in your startup folder for FTouchFlo:
Check here:
C:\Windows\Startup\

Stock Browser Error with Youtube

I'm on:
CM 5.0.6
Amon Ra Recovery 1.7
Guys, can you help me out? I've really tried search high and low, in this forum, on google search, but no one seems to be having the same problem..
I see this error:
Library Info
Open Library Fail!
It occurs when trying to open a website (not youtube) which contains any youtube video embedded, in the stock browser. (recently i found out skyfire has the same error)
I've tried clear all cache, reset default, wipe everything including dalvik cache.
I'm not saying its related to CM or anything (i noticed this since CM5.0.3 as far as i can remember)
Please do share if you have encountered this or have a solution to it.
The error i see is - http://picasaweb.google.com/m/viewer?source=androidclient#photo/oberonstrife/5450127167987793377/5464679150109946130
For example, when the browser opens this page on my phone - http://phandroid.com/2010/04/26/htc-incredible-unboxing-and-pictures/
It will display that error first, then i need to tap OK, then it goes to the page, but leaves a blank space where the video's suppose to be.
I tried xscope, its working with on error, havent tried dolphine browser.
Some person mentioned AdFree as the cause, but i've uninstalled it, and rebooted few times, same error.
Thank you very much!
Update: I just tried on Dolphin Browser, it gives the same error.
What exactly are you trying to fix? Do you not want to receive an error, or do you want to view the video?
The reason I ask is, well...you can't view video in the N1 browser if the video uses flash (ex: youtube). So nobody can really help you there until froyo / adobe releases flash for android.

Hi thanks for the reply
Actually how can I fix it so that I wont see the error, i vaguely remember i can still see a picture (sorta like a preview) of the video, but when i tap on it, it will popup to ask me to open via youtube / other apps.
xscope does show the video as a picture, when tapped on it, it will ask to open it or download it.
Just an update to this, in case anybody has the same issue..
AdFree does not contribute to this error, I have confirmed it by wiping everyting, and making sure that the error does not appear - I see the picture preview of the video in the page.
1. installed AdFree, went back to same page with youtube video, no error.
2. Reboot phone, checked - no error.
3. Clear all cache including cookies, password, everything on browser and checked - no error.

[Q] "Installation error - insufficient storage available" when installing skype

[Q] "Installation error - insufficient storage available" when installing skype
Hello Everybody,
this is my first post on this forum, i decided to start this thread cause i've been struggling with this problem for something like one month now, i really want to fix it, and this looks like the best place where to ask for help.
I'm having problems installing the Skype application on a Samsung Galaxy S, in Italy.
Initially i installed it from the market, the installation went fine, but i couldn't log in cause i was still running Android 2.1
After the upgrade to 2.2, Skype worked only the first time i tried to use it, then it started giving me a weird bug; basically each time i tried to make a call, it would say "already 2 ongoing calls".
I uninstalled it, and now each time i try to install it again i get the same error message "Installation error - insufficient storage available".
I have 5.22GB available on the internal SD card, and 573MB on the internal phone storage, and i have no external SD card.
I tried to contact the Skype support, sent them something like 10 different emails, but each time they came up with stupid answers and in the end they couldn't find a solution, so they said
"Please note that the message you are receiving is an operating system message and is not a Skype message.
We suggest that you contact Samsung to find out under which circumstances the operating system returns this message and what can be done to make an installation possible."
I tried to contact Samsung, but they didn't even reply.
I started a thread in the Android Market Help Forum and one guy suggested to use adb to delete the skype folder
So i rooted my device with z4root and also did the OneClickLagFix V2.2+
I managed to install the Android SDK and get the adb up and running, but when i try to delete the skype folder, this is what i get
# rm -R /data/com.skype.raider
rm -R /data/com.skype.raider
rm failed for /data/com.skype.raider, No such file or directory
#
basically there is no such folder..
at this point i really don't know what to do, and i hope that someone here is able and willing to help me.
I think i gave all the possibly needed information to help you fixing my problem, but if you need more please just ask.
Thanks a lot and by the way big up to this forum, so many useful informations in here!
Cheers
Pedro
update
i installed Titanium Backup
if i go to the Backup/Restore tab and scroll to the very botton, the last one is com.skype.raider, but it has a line on it and i'm not sure what that means (see attached image)
if i click it, all the options are grayed out, so i can't uninstall it..
if i click and hold, a different menu comes up, where most of the options are grayed out as well, i can only do Assign Labels, Explore and View in Market.
If i click Explore, it says:
com.skype.raider
files/
shared.lck 0B
defetto/
main.db-journal 8.0KB
any idea what's going on? thanks in advance
Never mind, i made it!
I bought an application from the market called Root Explorer, i couldnt find a free one doing the same, basically giving full access to my folder structure.
Anyway, i was able to find the com.skype.raider folder and delete it..
after that, next install went fine!
the correct path was /data/data/com.skype.raider
so if you have the same problem, you can use abd and delete the folder and you don't need to buy the above mentioned app..
p.s. how do i set this thread as answered?
Had a similar problem! I couldn't downlaod anything from the market. Unmounting the sdcard has fixed the issue. Thx http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi, I have the same problem on Samsung Galaxy S. When syncing contacts in the bottom right corner is the status bar, it gets to 27% and the I receive the same notification "Cancel task in progress"
same as
Bump! Bump !
Try to:
- Disconnect from Kies
- Export phone contacts to SD
- Remove all contact on the phone
- Import contacts back from SD
- Now it should work... at least it worked for me

Hi guys !
Encountered the same problem... Following the steps described by fax2368 the things went OK. Maybe some stupid database bug in that stupid Kies... Wondering why Nokia in the past and now Samsung (both of them having good built phones) cannot build a decent software at least for contact backup issues...
Thanx again Fax2368 !
