ah, think i may have to 'lose' my phone and claim on the insurance then if there's a problem

What's ruu if you don't mind if I ask?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

RUU is basically the stock firmware they (HTC or carriers like t mobile) put on the phones, its a exe program instead of a zip file.

But what's the difference w/ruu ?

[GUIDE]How to Root The HTC Wildire "Bee"

EDIT:I have not tested this on 2.2 - I can only confirm that this will work on 2.1
First, install z4 root, located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=446145&d=1290341328
Once installed, click "root" and let the app do its thing. The app will root your phone, but will hang before it is able to restart. Let it sit for a few minutes before pulling the battery. When you turn your phone back on, ensure that superuser is installed to make sure your root was successful.

The Wildfire I rooted was sold by Alltel, and the phone most certainly does not have a sim card slot. What would the phone be, if not CDMA?

Quick question

Hey guys.. Been trolling around for years starting with a HTC touch. I recently got the raider and been watching the development going on recently since the unlock happened .
I was researching and realized how similar the evo 3d it's to our vivid.. How bad an idea would it be to try and port a ROM over to our little device ? atm i am not worried about not having lte available.
What's the thought on this idea?

Over in the Sensation forums, there's a few.
Here

I need two things for ics for the vivid

I need the known kernels for this device and a way to flash kernels/boot imgs via recovery (in the same sense that we use flash image GUI but to use in recovery when you can't access a CPU )and we might have this today
I'm mobile and I'm having a hard time getting this done

you cant thats why you need S-OFF without the only way is with fastboot commands.
I have a quick tool that can flash them for you but it does not use the GUI your talking about
S-OFF allows access to ALL parts of the device memory.
Can you attempt to achieve s-off, it seems to be your main concern
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA App
And if you're thinking you can use the developer ICS that was put out there, no amount of kernels we have for the Vivid are going to make it boot.

[RADIO] Latest radio and how to flash :)

I've had a few people ask me how to flash radio so here it is:
Download the newest Radio here: http://d-h.st/Idf
put the PG32IMG.zip on the root of your sd card then reboot into HBOOT.
HBOOT will detect the file and install it for you its that simple!

This no safer or worse than the bootloader method, it's just the bootloader does it for you rather than manually typing the command.
While appreciate people need help, there are a lot of these threads popping up in the dev section explaining very specific problems. There is a Q&A forum for a reason, please keep topics in this forum related to dev only.

Not really. Sometimes when you want to flash PG32IMG, it does'nt work. And the cause for that is the cid. If you're cid is not in the android-info.txt, bootloader won't recognize the zip. To check cid, use this command 'fastboot getvar all' and see your cid number.

I don't understand why you use this method.. There is a much more faster method there you just put the radio zip in the root of the memory card and boot into bootoader (it will auto. loade som files) then it will ask you if you want to update the Radio and you accept that by pressing volyme up, then just w8 for it will finnished,

Radio_20.72.30.0833U_3831.17.00.24_M is the latest, and you can test for yourself. If you don't like the new one you can flash the old again.
Check my signature for the radio.

Do not flash roms from international forum

Sorry, but there seems to be a new post every other day about people borking their Sprint phones because they flash a Rom from the "HTC One" forum.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
-------------------------------------
ROMS from the international forums WILL mess up your phone and you will be lucky to fix it after that! I get you want the shiny new 4.2.2 but those ROMS will not --I repeat-- WILL NOT WORK ON THE SPRINT HTC ONE.
Sure, they used to, but once they moved onto 4.2.2 they will not flash.
I feel this should be sticky in every thread on the Sprint HTC One forum.

Would this be helpful to anyone? It's kind of on/off topic... A direct link to HTC's copy of the HTC One update for Europe?
And by a direct link, I mean an HTC URL?
I mean, the proof is in the pudding...by which I mean the constant stream of "bricked plz help" threads.
So all of these stupid people that aren't reading prior to flashing and you think they are going to magically read this? I really hope this prevents a few but I doubt it.

From what I've seen all the major ROM's say in some fashion or another that it won't work for Sprint so it's mostly people just not reading. Maybe they could make the font about it possibly destroying phones if you are on Sprint bigger...and flashing...surrounded by naked women. Then maybe people will see it.
Unless your a Dev or know what your doing I wouldn't flash non sprint things... I know the partition labels and boot.IMG stuff so I have gotten things to work but not for a noobie

I have never seen so many people flashing the wrong roms as I have seen with the HTC One...If people would read then they wouldn't have these issues but we all know they won't read this either.
