do you mean hard reset (hold power + left + right button)?
i did, and on the screen shown test "this operation will delete all your bla..bla.."
but when resetting complete, it's still restart when booting and logo sonyericsson appears
is it hardware failure?
I would not give up yet. You say you have tried installing another rom to no avail? Is hard spl installed on your phone? What kind of rom do you use (WM 6.1, WM 6.5)?
looks like your rom is messed up and can't boot anymore.
error 262 means you haven't got hard-spl (needed for task29 as well).
try flashing a new rom, either usb-method or sd-card method should work.
a) flash a stock-rom, doesn't need hard-spl
b) flash a custom-rom, but before that you first have to flash hard-spl!!!
how to do all that -> read the stickies.

task 29 is not working for my x1. error code [262]
wish me luck
Since you have original X1 SPL and ROM, I'm not sure, try stock ROM that is posted by PavelX1.
If it's customized, try other ROM, it's easy.

Yeah it is happening to me too lately and according to Russell's experience, he tells me to charge the phone @ full battery 100% then flash a new ROM (try other ROM). Task29 can be performed before flashing and removed battery for few secs as williyung recommends it. Good luck!

I did Task29, then original R3AA-010, then latest "2917 Energy ROM". All flashing by micro SD.

Followed your guides but nothing better. It still starts in bootloader mode automatically and cannot hard reset too.
it still doesn't find a system despite you flashed stockrom?!
well, then i'd say you have either a hw-failure or you're doing something wrong. i guess it's the second...
- after micro-sd-flash, are you waiting for the "ok" or do you remove your battery as soon as it eaches 100%? (=too early)
- what does it say on bootloader-screen, any error-messages?
flash stockrom with usb-method and see how it goes. you can also try downloading stockrom again, maybe the file is corrupted (unlikely, but...)
i'm saying stockrom because it should always work, no matter if you have hard-spl flashed or not.

Thank you for your advice.
I did ROM flashing by micro-SD and via USB many times before so I know how to do. But it's stuck into bootloader all the time I turn it on (it looks like you press & hold power+down volume button to enter bootloader mode) so I could not do flashing with USB method.
I also downloaded a fresh stockrom SonyEricsson_X1i_firmware_GENERIC_UK_R3AA010 but it still the same all the way.
I remember that it began to get stuck on bootloader few times ago and I simply did softreset until it worked normally. But now there's no way!
I already sent it to SE Service Center and they asked me to pay US$125 to change the whole mainboard!
never said you're a noob.
but yes, you can flash via usb if it's in bootloader. just connect it - pc recognizes it and you can run customruu.exe. (ignore any error-message from activesync/mobile center) i'm doing it this way all the time.
you can reflash stock-/hard-spl this way as well. maybe that would fix things.
i still think you've got a software-problem, something got messed up on your nand. for example, i had a "degenerating" file-system twice, where more and more files would get messed up in windows until the system wasn't bootable anymore (filesize 1.4 gb and such crap). after flash everything was fine and within a day - "dead". only stockrom cured that (task29 didn't). that's why i say concentrate on stockrom - it's your best chance before flashing a custom-rom again.
try everything before paying money for this old phone (replacing the mb surely would fix everything, but...). of course hw-failure is always an option, but rather unlikely in this manner.

Finally found the problem.
I powered up X1 with USB cable plug-in and it starts normally
I think the battery is going to die so its low voltage may caused that malfunction.

You probably have the wrong Original Rom from HTC installed (may wrong language).
To solve the situation you will need USPL. USPL will install. If you are using Windows Vista you will probably have to update the drivers (See the thread).
Once USPL is running install the Original HTC 1.56-ROM.
but how can i can i installl uspl if every time i get into bootloader it turns off after 10 seconds and then turns back on...
nobody else can help??????
Try to take out the battery for one minute or two, then see what happens when switching on.
If ok (usual start) make usual normal bootloader state, and see what is your SPL. Then decide which flash you have to do.

Flash back your original ROM, you don't need USPL to do this.
For your original ROM look at this link:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe
If you have problem flashing with you PC, you can try to flash from SD just extracting the files from the original ROM exe you downloaded on a temp folder (you can use winrar to do it), rename the "ruu_signed.nbh" to "BLACIMG.nbh", copy it to the root of your SD card, and flash the rom from the tri-color screen by pressing the power button.
Then, if everything is fine and your phone work again, you can think to flash a coocked ROM using USPL.
NOTE: you can read the wiki to learn something more, start here:

It mean your phone stay at bootloader? tri-color sreen with SPL you can see. It's ok. You should download USPL 2.5 and Rom ship 1.56.4xx. Fisrt you flash SPL by running blac_uspl , your SPL will be change to 1.15USPL, then you flash ship rom 1.56.4xxx, then everything will be ok. Give it a try
Note : It's more stable if you use Win XP.
from my experience with HTC Wizard and what you are describing it
sounds like
your battery is very close to dead
you need to find a way to recharge it
your phone is protecting it by shutting off
also i don't know how valid this is for the Blackstone
but the wizard would not charge in tri-color mode
(again for battery sake)
so make sure you have a nicely charged battery (buy a spare or a table charger)
and then try to flash something again
P.S. i don't know how one sentence cries for help peppered with EXCLAMATION points encourage anyone to help you

A clarification of the above post. When you have 3 colors (actually 4 with white color) and USB on the white band you have to start blac_uspl.exe. That will replace the original bootloader of your phone with cracked temporary bootloader named USPL. At this stage it shall no more give errors and you may flash it from the PC or from the memory card.
The suggestion for the battery also seems fair.

You have to copy the BLACIMG.nbh on the microSD using a USB card reader, not your phone. Then with the microSD on the phone, in the tri-color screen, it will automatically flash your ROM, if you don't have low battery of course.
If you want to use USPL to flash a coocked ROM (for your original official rom is not needed). Your phone have to stay at tri-color screen for more then 10s.
Perhaps your problem is a low battery as someone already suggested.
Do you have tried to remove battery and put it back, let the phone off and charge it with the wall charger?

Dont stress so much next time. When your stressed out you dont think with a clear head. Glad it worked out for you.
The changing of ROM only seems can not brick your phone. Only unsuccessful changing of SPL can. Until SPL is OK you may ever flash new ROM.
I just tried to download a cooked ROM onto my T-Mobile TP2 and I guess the actual software didnt successfully download and it stopped at 57%. Name a ROM-Image file to rhodimg.nbh and place it into the root-directory of your storage card. Then switch on the phone while pressing and holding the volume down button.
The phone then goes into bootloader and flashes the image on the storage card (but this does not work with all storage cards I've heard -SanDisk shall work fine as far as I know!)
ADD: I think he flashed HardSPL, otherwise I'd wonder why the flash did go to 57%...without HardSPL the flash should not even start, or am I wrong?
buckingham, I have done that....I have actually successfully installed cooked ROMs on my phone in the past couple of days, its just that this one I am assuming wasnt finished downloading but I didnt know that and it stopped at 57%. Skycamefalling, I dont have a storage card, but thanks for the advice, I appreciate it greatly.
Hi everyone.
Ive got a MAJOR Problem here.
My Cell Phone doesnt start at all.
If i put it one the USB Cable it can Start up like 5 Seconds.
Then it Reboots and Reboots again and again by 5 Seconds.
If I Disconnect the Phone from USB screen turns Black Immediately...
I thought it could be the Batterie... but.. it worked just fine yesterday..
(have i Mentioned that this weird Sticker on it turned red..? Some kind of sign saying me it got wet?)
All this started as i got a Coloured screnn with saying ´´Serial´´ @ the bottom of the Screnn... just exact like the Flash Screen
I Flashed the Rom which is on the Internal Storage i put bevor. To bad it aint the Stock ROM!
Then i also tried Hard Reset.
But everytime i boot... i only get as far as 5 Seconds.
Is there any Chance to Flash this Baby with original ROM (Stock ROM, RADIO and SPL)
I want to send that Baby in... but if they find out i Flashed it... i wont get any Warranty... ;(
So PLEASE GIVE ME ANY ADVICES!!!!!

Just go into bootloader mode (you have Hard SPL installed right?) by booting up the phone while holding down the volume down key. Then connect it to the pc with the USB cable and run the CustomRUU to flash another rom. Should work! Else you should try to MTTY (that solves the resetting stuff right?).

This is normal behavior when flashing from/to custom made ROMs, at least with USPL (never tried HSPL )
My TP2 stopped working ((((((
I was using it with some cooked ROM (i think it's not relevant what exactly). This morning i had my breakfast and i've got an SMS from an acquaintance. After this i couldn't see my home screen anymore, but i could still use start menu and so on. I wasn't first time as this error happened, so i didn't thought anything and just made a reboot. After this i saw bootloader screen and it was message about missing ROM shortly to see. Nohting else, only bootscreen, hard reset didn't work either. So i came home, connected my phone via USB to my notebook, powered it on and started to flash ROM. As flash was successfully complete, the phone rebooted and i saw... bootloader again!
So i don't know what to do now, anybody some thoughts?

Yes, i have a GSM TP2. As you advised, i downloaded Task 29, unzipped it and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe from its folder. How are you hard resetting your phone? All I do is power it off then hold the send and end keys and press and hold the power button until a message pops up asking if you want to hard reset. Press the vol up key to reset and after it completes press the vol up key to reboot.
Just a random thought here--is it possible your volume down button is stuck?

It sounds like your bootloader is somehow broken, if it isn't a problem with the volume down key.
Try searching for information about the "mtty" utility. It's kinda complicated, but I think it's helped people in a similar situation.

Now I am encountering bigger problems with my device. I tried to use MTTY ver 1.42 first. I couldnt use it because there wasn't an option to choose USB-port. Yes, i unchecked "Connect via USB" in WMDC and killed it then in task manager. Then i flashed stock SPL ver 0.79, hm nothing new. Then I tried to flash the original SPL, i.e. ver 0.84 and it got stuck by 0%. I waited and waited and waited, so i had to remove cable and the battery. After that nothing worked. No flashing worked at all, even Task 29 gets stuck by 0% every time........ I dont know what to do now.....

Have you tried flashing a ROM using the storage card method? Might be some error being caused but your computer.
The following was taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
You might also want to try flashing from another computer.

well it seems that you have flashed back to stock spl since it is showing you spl version (0.79)
which means you will have to hardspl it again in order to flash any custom roms again but it is probably unlikely that it will not work because when you reflash stock spl you are suppose to flash stock rom & radio first before flashing stock spl i'm just guessing i'm not to sure on this 1 i could be wrong though
P.S. - just a suggestion since you have stock spl back on the phone try & flash a stock rom to see if that works

Is that maybe the problem ? Did you flash the stock SPL back onto it as you referred to earlier ? Because 0.79 is a stock SPL version, so it won't boot a custom ROM with that SPL.
So is the whole problem that you have a custom ROM and stock SPL ? I hope it's that simple, but fear it isn't.
I hope!
Hello,
if you have 0.79 hard spl,
1. you should install stock rom, not cooked. After go to bootloader mode.
2. Run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.exe from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4363807&postcount=1
3. Install cooked rom!
It is working!
I hope it will help your problem!

Have you tried flashing a ROM using the storage card method? Might be some error being caused but your computer.

Yeah guys, here's what i did and what i see. Before i flashed stock SPL 0.79 i flashed stock ROM and stock radio. Then i tried to flash stock SPL 0.84 and it didn't work for some reason. OK, then I read an advice from Doo Doo and tried to flash stock ROM again. I was wondering that it worked... but as it got 100% the device entered bootloader mode again! But after this the version of SPL was 0.88
I cannot use storage card method because i don't have any possibility to get access to the card from my PC And I just tried to hard SPL my phone from another PC (winxp) so it didn't work either, stuck by 0%.
Try to older stock rom. Maybe it will install older spl...
Sorry, but I couldn't help this problem! :S
