[Q] Extended BP6X battery for our Milestone - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hi everyone,
since I'm starting to be obsessed by my Milestone battery usage, I'm trying everything: ROMs, modding, schedulization and so on.
Now I would like to change the battery: after a bad experience with a cheap battery from China, selled as genuine but that lasts half of the original, I've found on the net a Gold Battery BP6X 1930 mAh!
That is about 40% more than the original one.
Had someone of you never try this type of battery?

link it please.

It's from eBay, not sure if it's possible to public links from there.. btw, that's it:
http://wap.ebay.it/Pages/ViewItemDesc.aspx?emvAD=320x544&aid=320578087861&emvcc=0

Yeah i cant see the link here. Anyway, this battery provides you an extended battery cover too?

Here is the normal ebay Link
http://cgi.ebay.nl/GOLD-1930-mAH-BP...ltDomain_3&hash=item1e5f5fbc19#ht_3487wt_1139

Sorry I sent the mobile link!
It says that the battery has the same size as the original one, so no cover is required. I was just wondering if someone has tried them, since in the past I bought superbatteries just on paper.. on real environment, they were not!
As also I bought superbatteries and they really worked fine..

Corrected the link. Funny thing was that i searched for the ebay number in the link from puffo81.

I would never put that kind of battery in my phone for which, you can see 1 km away it isn't Motorola signed and the serial number is nowhere to be seen.
Try it, then report how it does...

Meh. Dunno, but if they use Japanese cells, it's not half as bad.
I'm a camera lover and we dSLR owners know what it feels like to throw $80 at Canon for a spare battery. Many of us have bought eBay stuff. It's not an official battery, and lots of them try to reverse engineer for the more advanced "chipped" batteries that report % capacity. Sometimes we run into issues like the leads not being gold or stuff not fitting as well, but in terms of battery quality, I wouldn't say run away. I haven't heard of anyone's camera exploding or anything.
I think the worse you would run into is a "fake 1930mAh." I've had batteries that claim 1500mAh compared to my 1000 mAh Canon OEM. I'd say it performs more like a 700mAh. Doesn't mean I can't use a spare

Hehehe, unfortunatelly, there in no chance at all, that this is what it says it is...
It is 100% a NON genuine battery, for starters, and anyway, i bet no small chinese company could make a 1900 mAh battery in half of the size motorola can,and sell it cheap like that...lol
Sent from my Milestone

what you want to be buying is a motorola bp7x. its really for the xt720 but they sell them for tthe m-stone some places with a new battery cover. gives something like an extra 400mah.

the link was correct, it is a BP6X, no matter if it is for Nokia Motorola or whatever.. it is a BP6X!
I've bought yet a BP6X from China, 2,36 euro shipping inculded! But just the price was good.. But I've bought some years ago a chinese battery for my N96, 1450 instead of the original 960, and it worked very fine, so not all batteries are bad!

I figured there are only 2 types of alternative batteries, cheap ebay fakes which are very good for backup. I always order one for my phone or 2. I got it for Milestone for 4EUR Because most of them are the same stuff it is best to buy the cheapest Maybe there is 5% of ebay that are good batteries but why risk, buy the cheapest
Than you have some good companies, that actualy make comparable to original batteries but half as costly. For example ony such company is Mugen. I once bought one and it realy was mostly the same as original in terms of battery life. They also make extended ones with extra battery cover, but as i go loook no extended yet for Milestone/Droid. But if your original gets old this is the best way to buy new:
http://www.mugenbattery.com/motorola-droid.htm

I wouldn't really trust those fake batteries.
I have the official BP7X extended, and i actually like it with the door, it has a nice feel to it and it is only a few mm thicker.

Do some google search about mugen and their claims and you will find some not so nice reviews backed by a cold hard facts and measurements..

Ditto. Everything else, especially the $1 ones could jeopardise your phone (by swelling/leaking/catching fire/exploding/etc swelling being most common)
BP7X is just a tad more thick, at least on Droid 2 it doesn't look half bad when installed (the ext battery cover). People report it gives solid 1 day of mid-to-heavy work on the phone while original BP6X requires recharge mid-flight.

Absolutely, and not that it happens often, but think about your health. If a battery is to explode in your pocket or while you're holding the phone against your face, that wouldn't be a pretty sight.

I'm just wondering isn't that a printing error??!!
Original BP-6X got 1390 mAh, and the picture shows 1930 mAh, why not 1900 or 2000 mAh? Besides, it cost only 9.9, isn't that too cheap for a high capacity battery?

It's not so cheap.. in genuine batteries, you pay for the brand more than the item itself!
There are fake batteries good as the original ones if not better, but it's not easy to recognize them.. externally, they are all the same!

They're all fake. They don't make it a quarter day. Worse than original ona which comes with the one. Do not waste your time and money with those cheap BP6X...

usb terminal broken

i dont know when it happened but i noticed it today when my car charger stopped working. i looked at the usb port on the phone and noticed the usb terminal was partially bent downward. the phone still charges with the regular charger and still syncs, so until it completely stops working ill just leave it. PPCtechs will fix it for $80. htc told me that most likely it wont be covered under warranty but they need to look at it first to determine if i broke it. I asked the rep how do they determine that. At that point i realized it was a bunch of BS. he said the charge to repair is $305. and even if its not covered and i decide to let PPCtechs fix it, i still have to pay a $28 dollar inspection fee.
Shame, mine broke like that too but it was within a few days of getting it so T-Mobile changed the handset.
It really shouldn't be possible to break the USB connector. I know we should exercise care (and I do now!) but it's a critical point of failure. I still don't know how I broke mine.

Mine is bent a tad but still syncs fine. If you google you get thousands reporting this, but HTC doesn't fix it in new models. Cheap component. If it breaks on me I'll be getting another windows smartphone by a different mfr.
As nice as the HTC products are, such a critical component is made as poor as can be. If that point fails, you can't charge your phone or perform sync functions. This means a bricked device. What gives?
yea im already looking for a replacement device. my last nokia had a rare joystick failure. im not even sure what to get next. i waited way too long for this phone to release and paid top dollar to have it when it first came out. now i finally have my phone set up perfect and its broken.
Same thing here... hasn't broken yet but it's slightly bent on on the right side of the mini usb on the phone.
here is the direct number to htc. 425-861-9174. once i find the right person to talk to i give the ext. maybe if more than one person callls the same person at htc they will give in.

Hey, that's the exact same for me. The right side is slightly sloped down.
If someone does get a extension I'll be sure to call!
well that is strange that all 3 of us have it broken the same exact way . at this point it looks like a manufacture issue. ill get a direct extension tomorrow. and ill talk to my lawyer on friday.
Cant Aim
I am also on my way to a Broken USB. I know how my USB broke and it was pretty dumb. I have been in a dark place many times and pushed the stylus in the port (upper right corner). I have moved it back into place and put a little Super Glue in there. I don’t think this will last. So I was just wondering if the USB problems everyone is having could be caused from the same. I am looking for a cover to prevent this from happening again and if anyone knows of one please let me know. DUHHHHHHH!
If anyone ends up with a broken usb port and wants to sell the phone please PM me...I know someone that can fix it (had to have it fixed on my mda) and would like to upgrade my old phone.

I found this place that does HTC repairs. Positive feedback from people on other forums.
http://pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~HTC_Kaiser-71~area~repairs.htm
Since I paid $400 for my phone, worth the $60 pricetag to have this repaired if it breaks. Just thought others would like to know if they ever meet the cold reality.
In my book it is poor business practice to design core components cheaply , so that it will inflate sales when failures occur. (So that you or your carrier will have to eat the cost when a USB port breaks. Pure profit for HTC)
Definitely makes me angry the port is so cheaply made. Of all things on a phone to be cheaply made. Make the PTT button we never use cheap, make the camera cheap (since it's not amazing anyway), make anything cheap BUT the USB port.
The USB port is the central way to charge the phone, apply updates, sync it, it's the lifeblood of the phone. Without it, the phone is trash unless repaired. But thats probably the whole point.
Make cheap USB port
Breaks
Carrier foots cost for buying replacement phone for customer. (Or customer foots cost)
PROFIT FOR HTC!
Wow... I thought it was just me. Here's a pic of mine, I think it shows it pretty well. Like I said before, it's still works fine... doesn't look very pretty though. I've been babying my Tilt and haven't had any maltreatment. This is just from normal wear and tear...

Amazing.
Looks like a picture of my tilt with the USB bent in the exact same way.
A coworker checked out my new phone the second day I got it and said "You already bent your USB?" and I had to b.s. and say "No the plug is designed that way" he was like "ahh.... thats not right."
HTC oughta fixit!
this is why the right side is bent on usb port

..cuz you must have accidentally poked the stylus in the usb port while meaning to poke into the reset hole. I've had this happen a couple of nights ago while driving where I had to reset the device and in the dark I pushed the stylus in the usb port a couple of times instead of the reset one.. I only realized this when I synced the device next and found it to not recognize it and also not charge via either the computer or wall charger. So, I looked at the usb port and there it was.. slightly bent down from the right edge of the inner pins.
Whether its flimsy or not (which I totally agree that it is after my gentle inserting of the stylus just a couple of times) HTC should have given a rubber/soft cover for the port. Would make a lot of difference.
I managed to fix mine for now though.

You are probably right... don't remember doing this but it sounds like the likely cause.
sorry to hear that a few people are quick to blame themselves. the only place i accidentally put my stylus is between the keyboard and the display. i did that twice. i rarely use the stylus and unike others i would have remebered it. mine does look exactly like the one in the pic. in another forum i was told it was designed to be bent? anyway bad design imho and sice im not the only one thbks should be fixed. i build and sell 500-700 thousand dollar homes. when someone is unhappy i sometimes have to bite the bullet and take it out of my pocket. its called good business.
anyone get theirs fixed yet? now none of my charge and sync cable works. The only cable that works is the original charger and the original sync cable.im sure i will have to get this repaired soon. i have called HTC corporate but nothing so far.
fixed mine..
I had the same thing happen to mine after 2 weeks of ownership. I took it to a ATT dealer and he tried a different charger and nothing worked. He said its a dead USB port and to exchange it. Mine looked that picture above as well.. I ended up fixing it by taking a flat edge butter knife and gently straightening it out so it was flat again. I plugged it in and bingo worked like new. I can't believe that these ports are so sensitive.
the usb port on my 8125 broke a long time ago and i just went to a repair shop.. he fixed it with a brand new one in about 20 min and charged me 35 bucks.

QTEK 2020 POWER battery, the world record

QTEK 2020 POWER battery, the world record, I do it my self.can last more than a week in normal
it is 1200+2200*3=7800mah, SIX times MORE than the orginal battery, and the qtek2020 is wm5.0 frmo windows mobile 2003, I bought it three years ago
I found that this forum is for QTEK2020I, please help me to move the post to the "Himalaya & Andes" forum
Tell me do you walk around with that? if so do you walk leaning to one side? jeeeez must be like carrying a brick.
yes,I take it daily life. It's really much heavyer than the orginal battery, but being using for several days ,you will used to it,and you will fell how powerful when using gps(with buletooth),reding books, playing games it's. that's why I made it
Well I hate to tell you but I bought a 3600 Battery cost very little and I can go two / three days with out recharging if needed but soon as I connect to my car and the GPS its charged up and it doesn't weigh very much at all
yes,it's in city
but I make it for outdoor
LoL, amazing but for you security I think that you should not play with the batteries otherwise *BANG* likes LG one.
2 The Owl: Where did you buy 3600 battery an how much was it?
It was off of Ebay but I found their e-mail address it is [email protected]
and was £9.99 plus P & P which made it £15.98
Beware that the 3600mAh Battery comes from Hong Kong (which isn't a bad thing) but it does come with an extended back - and if you use them with a GPS, you will probably need to modify the holder to accommodate the extra depth of the battery.
But - the battery is really really good and worth having
I bought one of these mounts
http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=114876&#moreinfo
I also as has been previously stated bought one of these Batterys
http://www.digitalera.co.uk/products/XDA_Battery_for_O2_XDA_II_XDA_IIi_High_Capacity-759-44.html
Both work together with out ANY modifications
Forgot to say I do use it for the GPS and this is the uint

lol amazing modif on battery
can you show the schema it's very interesting job

ORA USB Cradle (Thoughts?)

Im considering buying this cradle
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=194466
As I have a £15 voucher to spend at expansys and I thought it would be useful and nice to get a cradle. I dont want to spend much over the free £15 and so this one came to my attention It looks quite nice, I did have one thought though, how will it fair when flashing ect.. does it act just like a usb cable or will it have problems going through the flashing process?
Also I want to get some peoples opinions on it,
Thanks in advance

Looks identical to the one I bought from Clove the other day. Only difference is that yours seems able to charge a spare battery as well.
The stand has a low centre of gravity and appears robust. The plastic guard at the back helps locate the device onto the connector AND hold the device securely in place.
On mine you can sync and charge at the same time provided you use the charging device that should come with the stand.
Is this enough detail for you or do you want more?

Details and other images availalbe on the link above.
It connects via the micro usb and the 3.5mm headphone socket. There is a 3.5mm socket on the back so that you can put it through external speakers. The only downside is that if you dont connect it to external speakers then you dont hear the phone if call or message comes in as it thinks its connected to a headset (not a big problem for me as i ignore most until im ready to speak or reply to them). It holds my HD2 solidly .

@ [*],
Not used my version of the stand for anything else yet other than charging the device and syncing/file transfer routines which it does well. Can't see why running in bootloader mode should be a problem but I have not tried it yet.
As I said mine is the one from Clove not the one you are on about; however, apart from the spare battery slot, they look very very similar.
Why don't you just order it and give it a try. If you don't like it then send it back under the 7 day distance selling rules and get your money back (I am assuming you live in the UK).

Yeah maybe your right, I should just go for it, I will probably go for that cheaper one, (the first one I posted) as if you look at the other one a couple of posts up, it would cost me £20 instead of £10 (with vouchers applied) and the only difference appears to be (havent fully read through it yet) the speaker? which isnt a big deal to me.
And I would appreciate if you could test the bootloader/flashing, of course your not obliged to as I know its a pain, but I would really appreciate it (maybe flash a radio?)

But with the new bored installed I don't get signal or sound from the rear speaker! It does charge in my computer and from the wall but it's now a bit tedious with no signal and no sound.

Not very difficult to deduce that you made a mistake when replacing it. No you should follow the video on YouTube for possible repairs - to be honest: I think now would be a good time for a repair center - not ruin more by trying yourself.

Tbh theres n9thing that can go wrong its a simple unscrew of 9 screws to take or the back plastic.
Then 3 screws to take the speaker casing off, then take off the ribon cable and atenna.
Install then new one.
Its £60 at the repair centre as the it was broken because of the previous owners fault and cannot be mended under warrenty.

You got a bunk board.
You need to get a new board from a more reputable manufacturer.
---------- Post added at 03:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:49 AM ----------
I think that your replacement is NOT OEM. Look at the labeling.
Mine looks exactly like your. The only thing I've noticed with mine, is although I have a signal, in places where I never dropped before, it drops
out. Does anyone know if the "tape" on the factory one is conductive, and is acting like some sort of passive radiator for the GSM antenna?
It will peel off the old board. I noticed that both my original & replacement (I've since ordered another board from a different vendor) have the
same revision stamps & other info. Both boards appear identical, except for the gray/silver tape. The factory one has it, the replacement
does not.
Well they guy I got it from on eBay told me it was an oem and art but now looking at it its missing a chip as on the oem part there are 3 in a line the new one doesn't have the middle one and yeah it doesn't have the foil on the back either and I think this my be a factor as well
I got the new board for £8.99 as well so I wouldn't have thought it was a genuine oem part.

In consideration of stuff missing I would demand a refund and by another from someone else

Iv asked the guy for a refund but now he's started to give weak reply back. He's only selling this board but tbf it is my fault as well as I went on what he said and also he has the oem part photo.
I'm gonna have a look for one on amazon as I never normally use ebay.
This is what his page looked like as I capt it and the oem photo he's using. My bad tho really

if he is not replying back then you can report to the ebay about this deal in which you have mistakenly bought a faulty board with the bank transaction no. and can ask them to help you get a refund?

Here is a dealer on ebay who does sell exact part with the tape in the back
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-USB-Cha...153?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac1421059
Now I just came to realize that the 2 usb ports I bought from china don't have the antenna tape in the back, other than that, the part is exactly the same. My replaced part works good, charges the phone and antenna works fine. BUT BUT...Now that the OP mentioned about lack of signal and the other person mentioned about dropped calls; I seem to have the same issue. My signal was weak to begin with in my office now I have almost no signal in my home as well. In order to make calls, I have to be next to a window. I am wondering if the antenna tape in the back really does make the difference in getting good signal and bad. I am not sure as I live in dominican republic and the signal changes from time to time as the cell company turns on a tower and shuts off another one to reduce costs. I wonder if anyone could check the tape in the back to see if its just a plastic take or some sort of metal reflective material? I wonder if I can make something similar to improve my signal. Unfortunately I threw away my original bad part so I can't go back to it to compare the difference in the new and old usb port. So please if you are going to peel off the tape from the back of USB port board of your n7000, take pictures and do list your observation.
Note to the person who says there is a missing chip on the new board::
you had mentioned there was a chip missing on the new board. I saw that AT&T i717 charging port has 3 chips so you may have the wrong usb port to begin with.

The reason iv noticed about the oem bored having three chips is because I took it to a friend at and ex local Sammy repair store. The ones he had in had the exact same tape on the back and the three chips in a row.
If you look at my replacement there isn't any rape and there's only 2 chips. What I'm thinking is that the missing chip must be for sound and the tape on the rear must be fore the antenna? Just a guess. He wants £20 for that chip and tbf I didn't get it because I didn't have the cash on me at that time hence I got the one on eBay.
Regarding your signal, must be due to the network and not down to the board I'm assuming as my note atm has got the new chip in so I can at least charge it without having to take out the battery. When I have the new board in I don't get any signal at all it only shows up as a circle with a link through. So if your picking up signal, sound and can charge you must have the right one I assume?

[Q] No screen after lcd replcement (White screen+noise)

Hey
I own an htc one m7 (801n)
After my lcd was broken i have bought an original lcd+digitizer (comes together as one piece) from etradesuppy
I have connected the the battery & the charging port to the main board and then the lcd- connected a usb cable so the screen will come up..,.
All i can see is a white screen with noise (like tv used to have...)
I found a photo on the internet, it looks the same!!

Send the phone to HTC for proper repair
Agreed. Send it back to HTC. They most likely just get cheap Chinese parts and resell them.

You can buy parts that are subpar from China left and right. They are not obligated to be truthful to the buyers if they are OG parts or not. This is what happens with alot of on line sellers. They buy these parts from so called Good dealers and then when they sell them Custormers have issues. It happens all the time. They can even cause more harm. Send it back to HTC
But the screen i 've bought is original ... (from etradesupply)

Thats the thing is you can never be sure that it is. All you know is what they tell you. Many sites say OG parts and they are not. Send it back.

Here in Israel the disturber of HTC wants 300$ for a new display. for around 320$ i can get a used device.
I wonder how much HTC UK charge for that. I'll send them an email, thank you.

Good luck. That goes to show that if the official wants that much for the display, anything that is less them say half the price is most likely not official parts. You have to be careful. Hell you can get a used one in swappa for like 150

It is very likely that problem is coming from an improper connection with the LCD flex cable and the FPC connector on the main motherboard. I had it happen before when I didn't fully connect the cable back when I was putting the phone together. Unless, otherwise the flex cable is damaged or has some other issue.
Your options are to
open the phone and inspect it yourself, you can do it for free and this keeps your costs to a minimum. You need to be careful or you risk damaging your back cover.
send it to a local repair shop to have a look (hopefully you can find someone trustworthy)
send it to HTC
I circled the location of the LCD connection on the main logic board.
