Having recently installed XBmod Manila Rhodium VGA Port (here) i was annoyed that my comm manager skin was still the stock O2 blue skin
I search for ages to try and find someone how had made a black one, the closest i came was this which isnt black and this which had render issues and had the white left buttons, so it might not be perfect but i made one.
If anyone has any suggestions or the original Manila Rhodium VGA background on its own please send it and your suggestions over and i will see what i can do.
Also ive design this so it will just replace your existing skin and not change the existing options on your comm manager page like add the 3g button if you dont already have it.
PS ignore the background looking so crap in the screen shot, this is largely because of soti pocket controllers preview mode being a lower colour base.

So I am moving here from Raphael Section and I have a doubt that I could not clear by searching through Rhodium and Topaz forums.
What is the difference between Manila 2.1 and Manila 2.5 or as HTC wants us to call it, HTC sense 2.1 and HTC sense 2.5?
Is the home screen weather (the one with full screen clouds, snow etc.. on a full screen layer) available in both?
Thanks
I'd also like to know this as I've used 2.5 and not overly keen on all the changes.
yes, both have weather animation on the home screen. 2.5 has more detailed animation but is slower, 2.1 animation runs a lot smoother i found.
thank you
I will try 2.1 first.
I think 2.5 might become more optimized once HD2 matures.
Anyways, last few days of reading has landed me with following list.
1) 2.5 has widget themed home screen. i.e. clock, calendar, shortcuts are made to look like widgets. However, they are not as configurable as Hero or SPB shell.
2) 2.5 is social networking centric with support for twitter, facebook, footprint, youtube uploading, etc.. 2.1 has just facebook integration.
3) 2.5 has landscape support for audio, gallery tabs which has cover flow inspired from iphone
4) HTC says that sense 2.5 has deep roots in the ROM and is not just a today's screen plugin. I cannot confirm this in cooked ROMs as i haven't got my Pure yet. But this is what HTC said in one of the HD2 previews.
5) 2.5 is designed for 1GHz processor and thus might be too much for our 528 Mhz processors.
6) If you are not a twitter user and don't quite use your phone for playing songs, go for 2.1. It will always be more stable than 2.5 on our phones. HTC designs it with our phone in mind.
I might be wrong with this list.... and it won't be the first time
Thanks.
Yea I've tested some various builds before starting to cook my own and I like the 2.1 version. It feels like normal Manila but with the animated homescreen which is a nice touch. Manila is MUCH better on a WVGA phone vs the Raphael's VGA screen (too cramped).
My favorite build was Dutty's and had a nice simple black background. I like things simple.
Manila isn't bad, but I HATE how EVERY part of the screen is clickable and takes you to an app; especially the HUGE clock. I always end up launching apps I don't want. I guess Titanium is the same way but it has a tendency to scroll before actually clicking, so there are less app launches.
That plus it adds like 60mb to a rom (wtf).

ah thank you
I take the above stated, to ask if the 2.5 Manila have weather fullscreen animation with other background that the default one. I didn't found ANY possibility of having personalized background's with the weather fullscreen animation in 2.1 - at all. Anyway, I guess that is supported by the 2.5 Manila version.
Can someone confirm this, please.

Yes, with manila 2.5 you can choose between 2 options:
Weather Wallpaper
Animated Wallpaper
The weather wallpaper lets you choose any wallpaper and the animated weather will work with it, in the whole screeen, bealtifull but slows the Topaz to a crawl.
The animated wallpaper just do a kind of glow bottom to top, behind the clock and links of the first screen, with whatever picture you choose.
Thanks for that info.
That's what I need - weather wallpaper in 2.1 Manila.
I'm so desperate....
guys, thanks for the summary

looking for sense 2.1 rom from desire z and desire hd.... any idea
Hi,
i just wanted to know if there is a way to add weather tab in the home screen, some roms don't have this facility, but they are really good at performance and all/ How to get weather tab in M2D in those roms?
Thanks in advance
You could install MANILA v2.0
how about getting the home weather BACK on the home screen after you've installed a theme that has taken it away? i am running the HyperDragon IV WM 6.1 ROM with M2D, but after installing the Blue Galaxy theme, the weather on the home screen (under the clock) is gone. the only way i can get it to stay is by installing the theme WITHOUT deactivating Touchflo on my phone, but then i still have the flip clock, rather than the clock that matched the rest of the Blue Galaxy theme. any ideas? i've been trying to figure this out for about a month now.

The old M2D themes aren't compatible so you need to head to this thread to check out the latest ones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575723
There are ways to 'port' most of the Blue Galaxy theme over, but it involves xml and a lot of fiddling.....
I have an t-mobile hd2, and wanted to figure out how to edit my theme
i.e. changing the tabs, amount of tabs, and the amount of apps on the home screen, and also how to change the honey comb kind of look on the start menu. if anyone can answer some questions or point me to the right thread/tutorial that would be great.
if anything at all the location of the files that i can edit this theme information would be great.
Hi... I'm not an expert myself but I'll try...
1. For your home tabs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483
2. For home tab editor: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633590
3. For the hexagonal icons thingy for WinMo I believe its the Titanium theme. Haven't used it myself but check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508968
Have fun!!!
to change the order and remove the sense tabs simply go to the options of sense...there i can't help you because i have an italian rom
to change the amount of apps on the home screen you should try cookie mod and cht editor
Ok..i recently flahsed a Genesis ROM that CLEARLY said its WITHOUT a CHT..
AKA Cookie Home Tab...
When I flash it, THERE!! The icons are still very much there...So WHAT exactly IS a cookie home tab....
From what I uderstand, this is a cookie home tab in the attached pic..
PLz help me with this confusion!!
No. This is Manilla 2.5 from Leo. If you don't want this quicklaunch icons take manilla 2.1.
CHT is tool for changing layout of widgets in hometab of manilla. Like this :

Oh...thanx
I really thought CHT only meant the icons I have marked in the attached jpg..so NO CHT means these icons will remain but NOT the CHT...right??
what you have marked there are the standard quicklinks from Sense.
click on one, and you get the option to link to an app, contact etc.
It you want to remove a link, you click on the soft-menu "menu", which gives you that option, as well as some other Sense options.
So that's all Sense functionality.
As mentioned, CHT allows you to move widgets (eg clock, calendar etc) around the page - with just Sense, you don't get that option.
