Music files - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to edit the music files on your phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

More details please. Add album art, make songs shorter, etc?

Just the song titles and artists.

Download "double twist" on your computer. It's almost exactly like itunes, except it's for droid. When you connect, upload the music to DT and you can change all the descriptors. When done, just resync and you're good.

Is there any application to edit them directly from the phone?

YXPlayer in the Market plays everything
Lol no that's an app. A rom is the interface of your phone so I'm going to assume your running the stock htc sense rom..., is that right? What happens when you try playing the video?

Problem located sir, I had the same problem when I flashed cyanogen awesomness. I had a topic on this same problem last week. Well here what I discovered, cyanogen just does not play well with mp4. Not sure why but I tried everything to find a fix.. Unfortunately the only fix I was able to find was I converted all of my mp4's into 3gp I can't think of the program I used off hand but it worked great. Fast and easy to do... I'll post the program name when I get a chance.. There is no app to fix this problem.. if u insist on keeping mp4 try drastically reducing the video quality of the file that MIGHT work
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
A3gp was the program you can find it on softpedia.. If you have problems send me your e mail and I'll send it that way
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Thank you!! I'll give it a try

[Q]Honeycomb music app

I read today on engadget someone ported it to an EVO 4G and even the cloud music sync works. Can it be used on the Captivate as well?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
I just installed it and it's syncing supposedly. I had to uninstall the stock music player and enable music sync in the Google account settings.

Did you have to do anything special to uninstall the old music app? And which version of Android are you using? (Froyo or Gingerbread?)
http://www.mediafire.com/?j73zh5ld7bpcbqn is where you can find the app.

I used Super Manager to delete the stock music app...Root Explorer would work as well. And I'm using Gingerbread...but I saw when I searched for the apk that there is a how-to for Froyo.
Edit: Streaming/ cloud doesn't seem to be working for me.

You may need to reinstall the ROM or kernel. Removing it like that could have broken something
i use this one for gingerbread so not sure about froyo. Also make sure you have a kernal that supports call recording. I have herd alot of people having issues with the GB kernals and getting this to work properly.
The link is broken. Is it possible you can re-upload it please.
Same link is no good.
Can anyone repost the link?

I flashed this first one:

I didn't use too much music player on JB, mostly stock. When I was on GB I liked PowerAmp (I like dark minimal, and with it I could set it up to see just seek bar + name of the song and some small things, rest of the screen was black ) And it has good equilizer.
search for "mort music player"
for me the best.
also
mort widget
mort audio books

Yep, right now i'm using it. What i like of it is that even when my phone is pattern locked, it still shows the media buttons and song name as the album art
Oh and i didn't know that could expand the notification. Lol :3 But it's very cool and free.

I don't know if you're still looking for an app to use, but I absolutely love goneMAD music player.
This is the trial of it. The unlocker costs $4, but it is by far the best, most simply designed, and feature packed. It even has native tasker support! I've been speaking with the dev and he's looking into find lyric searching and lyric viewing. I really love this app.
