Greetings-
I've searched, scanned, and read, but still as a n00b, I'm not sure of what my best options are. I'm on Cog 2.3b6 and like it, but I've also read that Bacon (based on Cog) pretty much rocks- but wired headsets don't work, which is a showstopper for me. I'm considering Perception 4 (largely due to ewingr's post yesterday), but I'm not finding much info about it (is it referred to as a different name?).
I'm also noticing that the battery charges slowly if I actively use the phone; most devices typically run off of the charger while plugged in, leaving the battery to simply charge. I'm not sure if what I'm seeing a device issue or a ROM issue.
So, I'm asking those that know for their input... stay on Cog 2.3b6, or try a different ROM to get the best experience? TIA
Wired headsets don't work in 4 either. But Bluetooth do.

Thanks pinball... but I kinda need the wired headset.
Why are you asking a question in the development section when there is a section called Q&A...?

The wired headset works in my Perception v5 Rom so apparently not all installs or phones are the same.

Because I simply forgot about that section... the mind gets foggy trying to assimilate all of this stuff when you're new. Didn't mean to add to the noise.

Really!!! Does it work for call as well or you are only talking about listening music? I guess the Guy meant wired headset for calls?

At this point I'd wait. Based upon various comments it seems there will be a new Perception very soon.

Hmm... maybe I made too many assumptions about the wired headset problem. I have a pair of SkullCandy earbuds w/a mic and vol/mute controls that I need to use for calls... maybe I need to just try flashing Bacon and see what happens....

ive tried them all and the best is definitely aospMOD. It's fast right out of the gate, doesnt require overclock or lagfixes....but if you do its even quicker.

Wired headset works with Captivate kernels, but doesn't with Vibrant ones. It's a known issue. If you want a wired headset, don't flash a ROM with the Vibrant kernel. Read the description first.
Doesn't work with I9000 kernels, not vibrant.

It's the kernel that causes the problem. If you want to use the wired headsets for calls you cannot use SetiroN's kernel. Doesn't matter what kind of ROM it is.

Hi all,
I don't know if it's possible with previous versions to JPH, but I have connected an Apple mice and a keyboard to my SGS with the stock JPH rom, without any hack, it works great.
This phone, and of course Android, is amazing!!
Cheers!
EDIT: sorry I forget to say that the mice and keyboard are bluetooth

as far as I knew there was not HID drivers on previous firmwares..
Would you be able to try with a Wiimote using this app?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid
Yes, yes, I'm too lazy to flash JPH and try by myself
I pray that you are correct, if so that removes my only remaining small gripe with the phone (can't wait to try out my Datel Retro Wireless controller!!!!).
Can anybody else confirm?
(...having just got my GS perfectly set up with Voodoo and a bunch of other things I don't want to flash again unless this is solid)
Fantastic news to me, there's hope for my Logitech Di-Novo mini then! I'll shed a tear if it turns out it finally will work.

Yep, I will be well stoked, will upload a video showing the emulators with the Detal Retro Wireless to YouTube STAT!
Great news, only if I had a bluetooth keyboard to try it out.
I asked at Modaco, another user there confirms he is using a Dell BT Mouse with his... Looks like I have a flash in front of me right now!

I tried to pair with the wiimote, but it asks for a pin, does anyone knows it?, or it must be paired using another method?

Yep, I realised that the problem of Wiimote controller is not the absence of HID drivers..
It's because Touchwiz uses his own bluetooth module (maybe i'm technically wrong, but this is the substance) instead of the Android one. The same happens with HTC phones with Sense..
And that app doesn't recognize Bluetooth!
I'm pretty sure we'll be able to pair and play with the Wiimote if/when CyanogenMod (AOSP rom that use "normal" bluetooth) will be out.

I already have an iGo Ultraslim Stowaway BT keyboard, just purchased a Dell 5-button BT Mouse (which another use confirms is a go with the GS). With my TV Out should be nice (especially when I can't get on my computer at home because the fiance needs it for work purposes a lot at present!).
I have upgraded my phone to 2.2 from 2.1 and when I make a phone call I can no longer listen to the caller with my headphones. I do not have headphones with a microphone I just wear my headphones and talk though the phone. This was good for when I was listening to music and I had to take a call, I did not have to remove them.
I have seen other threads like this for other phones but none for the Captivate and no one seems to know the answer for this. Does anyone know why this would change, and this was with the I897UCJI6 - Froyo firmware.

It is listed as a 2.2 issue for captivate. If you read through the big 2.2 issues thread you will find it.
Thanks for the reply, I saw that but was hoping there might have been a fix somewhere for it. Oh well I guess I will have to wait for a fix.

Not as of yet.
Rather than opening a new thread... I'll bump this one. Solution found?
would be interested to know the answer...
the stock headphones seem to work well but can no longer send the audio with any sort of volume through my car speakers
Until we get a non-beta build, we will probably be stuck with this issue.
Now that froyo officially got released for the captivate, has this been resolved?

Where did you get that information? There is no official Froyo for our phones yet.
hey guys,
first off i wanna thank all you awesome devs for making the android platform and the sgs the awesome experience it us i switched from iphone about a month back now and i have no regrets.
well maybe except one tiny one? when i was playing music in the car.. and i got a call.. the call audio would come through the same headphone jack and i could hear it through the car speakers while speaking through the phone mic.
is such an option possible on the sgs? also does anyone know of a way to lower the mic input volume for video so as to be able to film in loud environments such as gigs?
im running the megatron rom with froyo.
thanks for your time guys!

I would love for this to work too. I do a lot of work in very noisy areas, and use noise cancelling headphones to deaden outside noise. On my iPhone I could answer calls using the phone mic and headphones for the speaker. It's driving me insane that I can't do this on my Galaxy S.
search.. is that so hard for everyone .. i have posted solution to this multiple times.

Would you mind not being so vague?

Hi all,
I also want to know how to enable/make this work.
I am using Darky's 9.3 ROM with Voodoo Kernel 5.4.1 and have tried all the settings in the Voodoo control app but have had no luck.
Help please...
Since the last month or so I have had a problem with the headset on my O2x. It is NOT an issue with the headset, it works on other devices and also other headsets have the same issue on my phone.
The thing is that the right channel is very, very, very low. Left channel sounds great. I've been running Temasek CM7 with symbi0sis all the time and never ever installed any kind of mod that would mess with sound. I have reflashed rom and kernel several times. I have not gone back to stock because it's such a process, but I will probably do that today or tomorrow.
I have been googling for days now but now I feel I have to start this thread here because I don't see a way of fixing this issue.
Sooo, my question is: does anyone out there have an idea of what I can do?! Please post if you do. I'm desperate at this point.

Get a piece of cloth, wrap it around a small pin and clean out the headphone port with that. Try using a compressed air can before you stick a cloth into your headphone port.
So from reading just about all the threads in the dev sections, it seems that Bluetooth is something that is inherently broken frome htc? This would explain alot of things...including why my awesome Bluetooth nyko controller doesn't work. lol. Anyone have any input on this matter? And i guess another thing i was curious about is the leaked 4.2 RUU that was posted in the dev section, does anyone know if the Bluetooth is fixed in that by chance? I know that the jump from 4.1.2 to 4.2 was a large improvement of Bluetooth for my nexus.
Bluetooth works just fine for me. Granted all I use it for is the headunit in my car.

Thats really weird. I always have problems trying to pair any bluetooth controller to the One. They all say they pair but never work in any apps :\
Bluetooth source is botched from HTC just for the Sprint variant. So on stock kernel you'll be fine but until fixed (which I'm working on) all custom kernels you won't be able to use bluetooth for calls. Streaming works fine.

Bluetooth pairing worked fine for me with my car, and I was able to import all my contacts to the car. Haven't actually used it for an in-phone call yet, but so far no issues. I also haven't rooted or run modded kernel/ROMs.
Bluetooth is only broken on custom kernels. I use viper rom and use Bluetooth all the time in the car for streaming and calls as well as at home with my desk headset from Plantronics.

This was my experience as well with my nexus s 4G on Sprint. I've had serious low volume issues with my HTC One when trying to connect with the factory bluetooth in my car (2004 330ci). I started a thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266974 ) but have yet to receive any replies. Good luck!

Thanks for working on this! I love this phone aside from this, which is a serious inconvenience. When you say you're working on this, is it a custom rom or custom kernel that you're working on, or just the bluetooth problem specifically? My phone is currently stock, but I'll happily root it if you release a solution for this. Thanks again!
Bluetooth is so slowly for my cell phone.
