So I have cm6 stable on my sprint cdma hero. I'm using ATK Froyo beta and juice defender beta. I haven't updated my radio is that a great idea? Should I? If so how? Are there any other suggestions as far as noticeable battery and performance improvements? What about uncapping the kernel how does that help and is it worth doing? If so how? Please provide me with some of the links.

If you have CM6 you are already overclocked to 691. Get rid of ATK and get AutoKiller and set that on aggressive. Task killers are a waste

This thread is worthless without pictures!
you added "pretty girl" as if we won't help those who are, lets say, less fortunate in the visage aspect.
Besides its the internet, nobody really sees anyone else. And for all we know you could be a guy that added that to get more views and a higher likely hood of being answered - speaking of, I think I might use that tactic in the future...
As for the topic at hand, have you ran the 2.1 update RUU? or are you still rooted from 1.5?
If you never did the update, you'll probably want to update your radio.
You can get a list of all the radio's HERE. and the newest one that was released with the latest update from sprint is HERE <-- this link also has instructions on how to flash a new radio.
So SetCpu is not needed. Oh, LOL. I thought it was already OCed, glad this reconfirms that. ATK with AutoKiller seems to work better for me than just AutoKiller.. *shrug*
glad you guys said it first, I was wondering when the "pretty girl" was gonna come into play...no pics = disappointed.
So I got rid of ATK again since it's useless for me without the widget - it wouldn't load after reboot and then disappear from the widget list unless I reinstalled it.
Anyway, I just set AutoKiller on the one below aggressive and it's way faster now!

i also downloaded hot reboot, i like that it lets me reboot just the shell of android or i can reboot into recovery, the little things in life make me happy

There's my home screen. I'm using Launcher Pro and I set it to remove home screen icon labels, now there's a big blank spot under each icon. Is there any way to get the icons lowered?
Not that I'm aware of, I use ADW and when you remove the icon labels it doesn't reposition the icons, it just removes the text, I would assume LPP does the same.
The only way would be to edit the png files, but if you decide to use the labels again, they will be too low.

I don't understand why the download speed jumps from being slow (for this test just now, it started at around 11, slowly creeping up to 40ish), then jump to incredible speed (jumped to ~400-500), and speedtest.net just randomly decides a number for the download result...
The number is an average, lol. Might be the way that fiber optics work. And I am super mad at Verizon for not offering FIOS in my area yet. I'm stuck with TWC @ 10 down and .5 up.

With close servers, yes. Servers very far, nope; it's just slow.
Other speed tests, like SpeakEasy and DSLReports, do do that also. DSLReports Java tests, however, are more stable (doesn't go up to the said 500ish, but only upto around 100 when it jumps).

What speed are you subscribed to. I don't know much about fios except we don't have it here. If its anything like charter and Comcast do though its probably a speed boost at the beginning of your download. It it is then a speed test that runs past the boost would show it slow back down some.

40down, 30up. When I'm downloading something big off direct connects, it caps out around 5-6MB/s and stays like that until completed download, which is around 40Mb/s, so I do get the full speed, but for speed tests, it jumps like that...
One possibility is that Verizon temporarily allocates more bandwidth to an individual user when the system is operating well below capacity (perhaps during off-peak hours), kinda like Comcast's Powerboost stuff that's advertised all the time. You could try testing during peak times and see what happens.
/not on verizon, wouldn't know for sure.

OK, now I don't want to pee on anyone's parade, but I hope that answer from LG was not a generic response, as it has the hints of one, but I guess we will see.
I too am excited for ICS, but on the same hand, I'm not too excited about the possibility of losing root. Hopefully the holes in ICS will be known if this launch comes to fruition, and wow, would it be nice if they don't load the thing with Bingification (but we all know know that kinda "has to" happen to meet whatever contract obligations they have to MS).
Not a pessimist... just a seriously cautious realist.

Not sure, I've never owned one of those, but it would sure be nice if the contract expired and they stopped including it.
It doesn't even make sense. Why would a company willingly ship with Bing when Microsoft on an Android device is a clear conflict of interest (and the results reflect this)? It's like shipping an XBOX 360 with an "enhancement" attachment built by Sony. I sure as hell wouldn't be first in line to try it...
Well that's a surprise. I really wasn't expecting this phone to get ICS lol. Though it probably won't be arriving any time soon, but then again I'm in no rush.

So I've been working at it for a while, and I've finally got half of my immediate family's phones rooted.
To get my brother to do it, he wanted an app to work and he wanted his Optimus V to stop crashing. Sold on root and later ICS/CWM.
I told my dad about Titanium Backup and how easy it was to root the Motorola Triumph and he was sold. And now working on getting him to agree to his Evo V 4G. (although it probably won't happen)
Mom has a dumphone.
And once I unbrick my Samsung Epic 4G, I'll root it and give it to my sister. (Heh heh heh, technically cheating, but who cares.)
So my question is, how did you get your family members and friends to let you root and screw around with their stuff?
I mean, ahem, make it better?
I didnt tell my brother i rooted and flashed a custom rom on his phone. He has never been happier with the sudden unexplained increase in performance lol.

In case any of you are wondering, I just put a couple ROMs on my brother's phone... never had an OpV and it turns out the ones I put on it were buggy as hell... yup, he'll never let me touch his phone again
Unless I happen to have some chloroform of course...

My roommate got jealous of what I was doing with my captivate back in the day, so he wanted me too hook him up. I taught him how to do everything, and introduced him to XDA.
Swyped from my HTC One X using XDA premium.
Used Google Now in front of Mommadukes and she had to have it. She is now Rommed and playing in the big leagues. Can't believe how many stock widgets she had everywhere. Looking pretty clean if I do say so myself:

Will definitely have to charge to do all this for non-family in the future. Going from stock to Rommed and fully set up is a pain in the butt =p
Very clean. Mind sharing?
