[Layout]Animedroid 7 -more tutorials+materials (12.24) - Android Themes

Inspired by the thread "Android Phone 7", I designed a bunch of anime style icons.
1. Style following "Android Phone 7":
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. New style designed recently, I want to call it a "Animedroid 7" style :
-Using "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper" to perform the wallpaper so that the status bar won't be a black bar in LauncherPro.
-The third screen's design is inspired by a lockscreen for iphone4, which can be found here, although I know mine is not a lockscreen and more work is still needed.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
On the pictures. (For how-to, keep reading~ )
-HTC HD2 with MIUI 11.19 - convenience, speed, beauty
-Desktop Visualizer - for the anime icons
-LauncherPro - for arrow shortcuts, dock, resizing
-Sticky Memo Widget - for the label of the links
-Widgetsoid - for the Switcher and time banner
-mClock - for weekdays
-MultiPicture Live Wallpaper - for a "live" stable wallpaper so that the semi-transparent status bar won't be black in LPR or ADW
Azusa wallpaper original:
credit: kemonomimi madness!
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
How-to:
For style 1, it's just same method as the "android phone 7" style, not going to explain here.
Style 2 - Animedroid 7:
-In image1/screen1, everything is built by desktop visualizer, except for #15, I used it as a LRP shortcut, which you can still apply the image as a link to other stuff.
-In image2/screen2, 1 to 4 are built by desktop visualizer as well. 5 to 12 are fake labels built by "sticky memo widget"(uploaded, not in market any more). 13 you can use either widgetsoid or extended controls(newest version).
-In image3/screen3, widgetsoid for the time banner and mclock for the day of the week. You can use OneSeven for the day of the week as well, but the options of font size are limited.
-I've indicated needed columns and rows combination on the images, the final combination should be 10X8.
-More about #15 arrows:
The reason I build another set from the original sets of arrows is that with the original set, when you use LPRshortcuts/DesktopVisualizer to put them on desktop of your phone, their positions are never where I want them to be. So I change the size of arrow icons in order to have them at the right visual position.
More about wallpaper:
1. Making your own wallpaper like mine
p.s. If you have more than 4 screens, just calculate how wide you need (width of your screen times numbers of screens) and change the canvas size.
2. Trick about "multipicture live wallpaper"
If you have downloaded my background pack and looked at my PSD, you shall see some cyan vertical lines, which divide the picture into four parts, which each is actually an individual wallpaper for your screens.
For more details, look at the tutorial picture below.
p.s. If you have more than 4 screens and have already changed the canvas size. You can just cut the picture into the number of pieces you need and then apply the trick said in picture.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Anime icons used in on the first screen of style 2 - Animedroid 7 (Now with PSDs):
animedroid7.rar -(now using multi-upload)
Purple icons and PSD as in the second screen of Animedroid 7 style:
SWG-moded.rar -(now using multi-upload)
PSD for making your own picture like the background in my images:
forlivebg.psd -(now using multi-upload)
Some people report that they can't find sticky memo widget on market. I checked the developer's webpage and found out that it's no longer in market now, so I uploaded this titanium-backup of this widget. Unrar the RAR file and put the three files in it into "titanium backup" folder in your SD card, and then run titanium to install it. Please let me know if it works. klyzon reports that it's working. So I guess no more concerns here
stickymemowidget-titaniumbackup.rar -(now using multi-upload)
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
In the attachments,
"animedroid7.rar" is the package of anime icons in the first style.
"animedroid7 v2.rar" contains the anime icons in the second style.
-the dock bg
-the red button
-back and next pngs are for the original arrow icons as in the first style
-back and next page pngs are to be put on the desktop as in the second style(the reason why I develop a second set of these arrows will be explained in the "how-to")
[the two sets of arrows are in white so they are not very clear to see in the attaced area below, but yeah, they are in the attached images, if you right click, you can always save them]

That is awesome! XD

Wow I really like the idea...very original

If you mean the first screen of the second style, it actually cannot be scrolled, I made the bottom icons look like they are faded in order to get that looking-effect

I've updated the how-tos and uploaded my anime icons. You can get the size from those icons.
Sorry that I missed the widget name, it's actually "Sticky Memo Widget". But I just found out it's no longer in market. Check the first post of this thread; I've uploaded a titanium backup of the widget. Try to use "restore" to install it, and let me know if it works. Thx.
Let me know if you have more questions.

PTP's LauncherPro Docks & Icons [New Designs 03/07/10]

PTP's LauncherPro Docks & Icons
------------------------------------------------------
Here you will find all of my various dock and icon based creations for your Android powered device. I am always looking to come up with a new look for my phone, and now I want to help give your phone a face lift as well. Each dock is designed to work with LauncherPro on most Android handsets. The icons packs also are made to work with LauncherPro unless otherwise stated. They are made to look as good as possible with the known size and dimensions of the icons that LauncherPro uses.
Got A Request? While I do tend to constantly come up with new ideas on my own, I am always on the look out for someone with a good idea. Post in the thread with your idea, or request for a modified version of any dock or icon pack. I am also always on the look for new ideas for the icons themselves. I try to steer clear of random programs, but ones we all use, or phone functions I have not made one for are all on the table.

PTP Dock Pack - Updated 03/07/2011
The Docks
------------------------------------------------------
Cleared Up
At first I was making docks just for me, then I randomly decided to make one to hand out to the masses. This was my creation; a weird blend of what I personally like, and some graphics techniques I hadn't used in ages. For a first round back in the realm of Photoshop, I say not too shabby.

Dock:
Merge
A dock I used for quite some time; Merge was a complete redo of a dock found on the LauncherPro forums. I took the idea and moved the app drawer button to the middle (not a fan of side based ones) and also made the app drawer icon a static part of the dock. Still one of my favorites.
Preview:
Dock:
Encircled
After 'Cleared Up' I wanted to do a simpler less busy dock using the same basic idea and method. Encircled is what came of that goal, and my current dock of choice. Encircled is also the main dock I tested and based my 'Punch-Out' icon pack around.
Preview:
Dock:
Enclosed
After completing my first icon pack, I wanted to make a dock specifficaly for 'Punch-Out' so I took the color scheme of 'Encircled' and made it a solid dock. At first I planned, like 'Encircled', to have a Light and Dark variant, but after testing I found it did not work as well. So I went with a normal style dock, and one with a static app drawer button in the middle.
Preview:
Dock:
Embers
Take one look at my computer and you will see I love text based icons. Embers was an attempted at text based dock that used the icons themselves to add an interesting effect. Sadly I did not at the time know the exact way LP handled icons, and it was a large fail. But both the dock, and the icons ended up turning out alright after some tweaking.
Preview:
Dock:
Flat Grain
After the fail of 'Embers' I had to try again for a good text based dock. This time I went with flat colors, and a more grainy effect. Also the icons created for this dock look almost like they are sliding on a track, an effect I plan to use heavily in the future.
Preview:
Dock:
Real Droids Wear Pink
A quick dock done to work with one of the new colors for 'Punch-Out'. This was a request I did quite quickly as it was my first request.
Preview:
Dock:
Utility
As somewhat of a graphic artist, there are times a good idea (with me often one taken from something I've seen) ends up turning out more like a "what the hell was I thinking?" kind of idea. This is one of those. To be honest I thought it was going well right up until the end. And a cookie to whoever can guess what my real world inspiration was for this And why no icons? None of mine work well with it I would have to make a custom set. If someone is actually interested in this I will. But yea...
Preview:
Dock:
The Clearing
There are tons and tons of these solid color slightly transparent docks out there. I have been avoiding them, but they work great with 'Glassy' icons. I have been using and loving the rounded box one. They are very simple, took no time to make and yet work fairly well. And yes the single small bar at the bottom is an idea I like. Its my odd sense of style.
Preview:
Dock:
Carbon Footprint
What started as me trying to make a half sized dock for 'Glassy' icon pack, turned into this, and I am very happy with its outcome. I have this carbon fiber pattern I never get to use, but love; I also have not gotten to do one of these 3D effect docks. So I put the two together, and got this. In the preview you see a custom wallpaer which extends the look of the dock up, click the link and set it as your wallpaper to get the full effect!!
PTP's Wallpapers For Android
As you can tell its meant to not scroll with your phone. To get this effect on LauncherPro, while on the homescreen, click Menu > Preferences > Appearance Settings then check the box next to the option Disable Wallpaper Scrolling.
Preview:
Dock:
Colors Of Ember
Someone request 'Embers' in a different color, and I admit I had already thought of it. I got a little carried away, so unlike most times, I am making a seperate little area for this one instead of adding it to 'Embers'.
Preview:
Dock:

Tabbed
Quick attempt at a tabbed style dock. I will try and expand on this later as well as more colors for it.
Preview:
Dock:

Transparent
I wanted to make a specific dock for the new Reflected icon pack, and really like the way "The Clearing" docks looked with the text based icons, so I modified the idea of "The Clearing" and added much more detail and a baked in app drawer icon. I was also playing around with rounding the edges, and came up with a unique look i quite like.
Preview:
Dock:

The previews you see above are not taken on a phone. I use a handmade layered .PSD which allows me to change the background, dock, and icons at will simply by copying and pasting new designs in. As such expect the look and feel of each to be slightly different on your device. Each preview is modeled after my Nexus One, and is resized down to 360x600px as to decrease bandwidth usage.

The Icons
------------------------------------------------------
Punch Out Icon Pack - V.3
These icons were made for 'Encircled' & 'Enclosed' docks, but work well with many different dock designs. The icons come in a Dark and Light version, and three different bottom glow colors; the original Blue, Green, Pink & Red. 25 Icons in each color and glow.
All icons are 66x66px

Embers Font Icon Pack - V.2
Made to work with the 'Embers' dock. Font based icon set, full words. Updated to work with my better understanding of how the LP icon's are sized.
All icons are 85x85px
Preview:
File: Embers-Font.Zip
Flat Grain Font Icon Pack
Made to work with the 'Flat Grain' dock. These are a font based icon set, and unlike Embers quite a few are abreviated to make the font a bit bigger on the screen.
All icons are 100x100px
Preview:

Glassy Icon Pack
I loved most of the actual symbols in Punch-Out, but really started to fall out of love with its general look, so I remade it. Glassy uses the symbols from Punch-Out as a basis, then I refined almost all of them, and added quite a few new ones bringing the total number of icons in this pack to 35.
All icons are 66x66px
Preview:

Reflected Icon Pack
I love text based icons, its what I use on my desktop. I also really liked how I did the "Flat Grain Font" icons. So i took the basic idea of Flat-Grain, got rid of the arrow, and added a reflection. I am currently loving this on my phone and hope you will too.
All icons are 100x52px

lol sadly those aren't my icons. I would love to take credit for 'em. I am still working on the initial icon for my first pack, so the design isn't final. I've got like 3 other docks almost done along with the two you see here (i work better with lots of projects going on at once) so i decided to go ahead and post what I had.
I should have put those weren't mine i guess xD Although I can post that set if you want them.
Please post those icons! They look nice!
Here are the Icons. I don't know where I got them, but its what I currently use. Making my own version inspired by them for my first Icon set.
So anyone actually interested in the docks, or just the icons i happen to be using
Here is a preview of the Icons I'm working on. Using the parts of the icon set you see already for now as a placeholder. Getting the styles and things worked out, then I'll do custom icons inside each one. But that takes a while. This should give you an idea of the first Icon set though.
As you can tell its built for Encircled. I'm doing one for the Dark version as well.
Hi papertreeprophet !! Off topic, what's your clock widget ? Which Beautiful Widget Skin (if BW...) ?

It's SiMi Clock Widget. I actually have BW and used it since I got my phone (you can see the weather at the bottom of the latest screenshot) but once I found SiMi i fell in love with its looks and simplicity.

The new Icons are coming along nicely. I got rid of the placeholder images, and am almost finished. Just a bit more refining and a few more icons to make to start, then I have to do the dark versions. Nearly there!!
Heres a preview of the icons as they are now:
thanks for linking the icons from the original pic, ill probably use those while waiting for your icons to be released.
Well won't be waiting long. Just got the last of the initial batch done. I'm working on exporting everything and creating the zip files and all that jazz.
Also once finished, I will take requests for a few days on new icons to add to the pack anyone might need. I pretty much did the basics and a few specialized ones I use for mine. But any others you might need/want i'll make upon request.
Alright! First set of Icons is finished and uploaded. Get yours now!! I am going to take a smoke break and try and crank out at least one more dock tonight. Maybe one to go with the icons that uses the App Drawer icon I included!

[Tablet Theme] VintageVega by newbe5 (Zebwen)

Original post is here (competition post).
I have also posted this in the Vega section, but as a lot of tablets have the exact same screen size (1024x600) and in some cases people are running very similar ROMs, this should work pretty well on other devices too (not tested though!), and in case any tweaking is needed, the PST files I used to create all of this are at the end of the post.. I have drawn heavily in the past from the G-Tab and Toshiba Folio 100 forums for things to use on my Vega, for which I thank you all! So this is hopefully my way of giving a little back
I'm going to keep this as short as possible otherwise it's going to swiftly turn into a wall of text, but here is a brief outline of that I was going for
I wanted a completely "unique" look for my Vega. I've tried basically every launcher/home screen available, and none of them felt right. Honeycomb is in the wild, but until that makes it's way to the Vega in a fast and stable form I wanted something that I enjoyed using day-to-day. So, here is VintageVega:

This is an original pack created by me, containing 28 "Objects" and 3 Wallpapers (with a shelf to place some of the objects on) for now. I'm sure that I will add more later. Further down this post you will also find ALL of the PSD files I used to create all of the objects and wallpapers. So if you have Photoshop or GIMP you can edit these yourself to your own liking. You will be able to achieve this entire set up using entirely free applications available on the Android Market, and you will need NO knowledge of advanced tools (such as ADB from the Android SDK). this can all be done directly from your Vega.
To set up VintageVega, you will need the following apps:
ADW.Launcher (I am using ADWLauncher EX but normal ADW should be fine.
Set up your launcher Auto-Stretch icons, and set the grid to 6 Columns and 6 Rows (columns is flexible, but you will probably have to keep the rows at 6 for the shelf). Also I would fix the launcher orientation ot Landscape (VintageVega ONLY works in landscape mode!).
A nice clock widget! I use (and paid for) ShotClocks but you could easily use the free Big Ben Clock or many alternatives on the Market.
SiMi Folder Widget for creating lovely categorized folders on the desktop.
Desktop VisualizeR to place all of the objects in onto your screen
Here are some images of how I have set up my Vega using the VintageVega pack:
This is an EXAMPLE, you can set up VintageVega in any way you like!
Home screen:
Lightswitch on the right opens the app drawer (accross all screens).
clock is a ShotClocks widget.
Portrait on the left (of me and my daughter ) opens the Gallery app.
Cash Register under the portrait opens the Android Market.
Globe opens the browser (Miren Browser for me).
Calendar under the clock opens the Calendar App.
Scrapbook (with stamps) opens the Social Networking SiMi Folder widget (more on that later).
Toolbox opens the Settings menu.
Stack of letters on the shelf opens the Email app.
Office Screen:
The World Map opens Google Maps Application.
Books along the shelf opens Aldiko (but could easily open Kindle App or a SiMi Folder widget with multiple choices).
Newspaper rack opens news reader app (Pulse in my case).
Phone opens Skype.
Entertainment Screen:
Film Projector screen opens SiMi Folder containing BBC iPlayer and YouTube apps.
The 3 portraits along the top open: Angry Birds - Seasons | Angry Birds | Dungeon Defenders (The PST to create your own framed image is linked in the PST pack at the bottom of this post).
The Radio on the bottom right opens the Music App (but again, this could open another SiMi Folder).
The Games along the bottom left open a SiMi folder containing a list of my games, here is an example of how a SiMi Folder set up in this way looks:
Please note, ALL screen shots above have been lowered in quality to make them smaller files, the images are actually MUCH higher resolution than this.
To set up a SiMi Folder Widget:
Open the app Drawer and select SiMi Folder.
Select "Add Folder".
Choose a folder name, and set the folder type to "Apps", then click Save.
Select your newly created folder, and tap on "Applications" on the right.
Add all of your desired applications to the folder.
Click Save, and then exit.
All done!
To add an object to your home screen:
Copy all of the objects images in a folder to your memory card.
Long-press on a blank area of the screen and choose "Widgets" to add a widget.
Select one of the "Desktop VisualizeR" (from now on I will refer to this as DTV) sized widgets (selecting 4x4 gives the best image quality, then you can re-size the widget to the correct size afterwards.
Tap on the newly created DTV widget to open the DTV menu and start configuring your object.
For Icon, select one of the VintageVega Object images from the gallery (or whatever app you chose).
For Action, you can either select "Launch Application" to select a single application, or "Other" to choose a SiMi Folder that you have already set up.
Once you have selected an action, clear the Label field so it is blank.
Change the "Touch Effect" from Orange to "None".
Click OK!
That's it! It seems like a long process, but once you are used to it, you will be adding and moving objects to your hearts desire
Incase that's too hard to follow, here's a quick video that should clear things up
And so, without ANY further waffling... Here are the files
Download the VintageVega Object Pack.
Download the VintageVega Wallpaper Pack.
PST files for those that wish to create their own framed images (or those who are just curious).
Wallpaper PST (Caution, 30mb File!) - High resolution PST file (with shelf) for you to create your own VintageVega wallpapers.
Objects PST - Source files for ALL of the objects included in VintageVega (incase you want to modify any of them yourself). NOTE: The social Icons pack included here was not created by me, it was created by Dawghouse and are free to use.
PLEASE do not repost these as your own work, but feel free to modify and enjoy this as you wish. Please let me know of any problems! And soon I will hopefully post some YouTube vids of this in action and some easy to follow tutorials on YouTube (for those of you who can't follow the written instructions ).
One last note: I specifically designed the wallpaper/shelf on VintageVega to match up with standard Icon sets, such as iDroid so you can actually have those icons sat on the shelf if you wish, and it doesn't look bad to boot
Example:
So if you find that there are objects missing from the pack that you would like, you can always use an icon instead
Add icons in the same way as normal with DTV.
Enjoy!

Hi Zebwen, I have a SGT and will try it. I'm new at this so it will take a while.
Cheers, and a damn good job mate !!!
LE: Works great. Just need to adjust the BG to have the shelf aligned with the icons.
Thanks a lot. This is opening new ways to customize your Android device.

Hi there! I've made a custom-sized wallpaper for phone devices for you that might work a little better (I based it on the SGS screen dimensions).
I pretty much guessed at the shelf location, so you will have to play with ADW row numbering to get it to fit. If the shelf needs adjusting just let me know (best way would be to post a screenshot) so I can see how much it is out by and fix it!
Zeb
A completely random Twitter Search resulted in me finding this page with a big shoutout for VintageVega! Also, this twitter search show's it had been re-tweeted a whole bunch of times without me even knowing :/
Ah well, nice to see that it's getting out there!

This is brilliant, it deserves much more attention! I don't have a tablet, but if I did I'd definitely try it out! It'll be great to see if more like this come out, it'll reinvent the home screen's capabilities!
Wow, great theme Zebwen, and good job on the instructions. Couldn't have been simpler. I was gonna ask if you had an icon for AB Rio, but it took all of 5 minutes to create one from your icon pack. Now I'm trying to figure a way to include another set of shelves to place objects(icons) on. I know it's possible to edit the books icon, but I'm thinking maybe editing the wallpaper to include a 2nd 1/2 screen shelf. This way I can place icons directly on top of the shelf. With the edited books icon, you can only get so close to an adjacent icon.
Again, great job!.
Tony
In case anyone's interested. An AB Rio icon and an updated AB Seasons icon.

BRILLIANT! These are the first custom Objects I have seen since I released the pack, thanks a lot for doing these! It't nice to see that people are enjoying VintageVega BTW your going to want to save these as PNG24 files to preserve the transparency
When you are done setting it up, would you mind posting a screenshot of your home screen?

Here's where I am so far. Still tweaking..
The "test" screen is just used for tweaking.
For some reason the rom I'm on (GHarmony GB) is not allowing for screenshots (Screenshot ER or DDMS) so I just took a couple pics with my Dx. so the quality kinda sucks.

Gtablet, running this rom ---> G-Harmony Gingerbread 2.3.3
Good! Glad to see it is working well on other tablets too. Hopefully starting work on a new theme soon, similar but with a more modern style
For some reason I'm having problems changing wallpapers. When I use the normal method (long press blank area, wallpapers, gallery, select pic) ES freezes up. No biggie, I can still just open a pic in ES, choose "set wallpaper" and chose the wallpaper.
For now, I'm trying to find a good icon for ES (file cabinet, file folder, etc.)
I actually prefer a modern theme. Looking forward to your efforts. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
Here's what I got so far for ES Explorer:
I like them! If you manage to finish it off would you mind me re-posting them in the main post?

Hey guys I finally ported my "hubs" set up to Android Tablets and I have to say its 10x smoother on our 1.0 ghz dual core device. The general idea of "Hubs" is to create a dedicated screen for each piece of media/productivity while providing a visual eye candy. "Hubs" is easy to emulate, and even easier to create your own style. Despite the lengthy tutorial, its actually easier than it seems. The fun part comes with setting up you layout!
What you'll need:
Main
Adw Launcer EX
Launcher Pro Plus
Multi Live Wallpaper
Minimalistic Text
Simple Text
Optional
Pulse (for widgets)
Cowon Clock/ BobClock Widget
Mizuu Movies
Launcher Pro Plus (Widgets)

WALKTHROUGHADW Launcher Users[/U][/B]
-To remove top bar-Press and hold and empty area on your home screen then click on "Launcher Actions" > "Hide/Show Action Bars"
-Enable Widget Overlapping-"Menu"> "ADW Settings"> "UI Settings" > "Screen Preference"> Check "Overlap Widgets" in the Advanced Settings Tab
-Increase Retail Space on your screen-"Menu"> "ADW Settings"> "UI Settings" > "Screen Preference"> Increase the desktop "Rows" and "Columns" in the "Desktop Layout" Tab.
Launcher Pro Plus Users- while not optimized for 3.2, it still runs perfect.
-Increase Retail Space on your screen-"Menu"> "Preference" > "Homescreen Settings" > Increase the "Number of columns/rows" in the Homescreen Grid.
-Remove Icons From Right Dock- Hold your finger on the icon you wish to remove> "change shortcut"> "Blank"
*You may add screen transitions for each launcher if you wish, however my advise is to leave it at default as you can set transition for Multi Live wallpaper. Doing both launcher and MLW will make your screen look "too busy" IMO.
To set the "Bars" (Titles for "Home", "Music", "Movies" etc.)
Minimalistic Text
-To set title- Press and hold a free space on the screen > "widgets" > "Minimalistic Text" (size may vary per style however I use either 4x2 or 6x1 as long as its horizontal > ensure that "background color" is checked > "Predefined Layout" > "Custom" > "Custom Layout" > Click on the plus sign > "Misc" > "Static Text".
-Black Bar Tutorial click here
Wallpapers
-Set up - Load up your wallpapers on your sd card/internal memory and placing them into seperate folders and name them based on the images (ex. Music, Movies, Games etc)
- Long press an empty screen on your homescreen > "Wallpapers" > "Live Wallpapers"> "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper"> "Settings"
- For each "Screen _ Settings" Select the picture source as "Picture Folder" and navigate it to point to your corresponding homescreen.
- Additionally you make select the screen transition here that reflects your particular taste. You may also set a default wallpaper for your lockscreen.
Despite the dozen of widget on the homescreen and live wallpaper, battery use is minimal.I have provided wallpapers below to help you get started.
NAVIGATING BETWEEN HUBS
There are two methods in which you can navigate to each individual homescreen.
Method one: Prior/Alternate way for navigation text was achieved using this methodby trekkie0927. Using invisible icons in tandem with minimalistic text can make it easier to flip to each hubs. Please rate/comment his video.
Method two: I found a great alternative to Minimalistic Text in terms of using the text buttons to jump from one screen to another called Simple Text. Since it's only an icon and not a widget, it consumes no memory and provides a great minimal look.
User AcIdC0R3 has posted a great tutorial. (Please thank him!)
Make sure you have ADWLauncher EX
Go to the market and install Simple Text
Long press on the screen and select 'Custom Shortcut'
'Pick your activity', select 'Launcher Actions'
Choose which screen you want, 1 - 5 or 1 - 7 if your using seven screens
Click on the picture of the 2 screens side by side
Select 'ADWTheme IconPacks' and select 'Simple Text'
Select the grey box named 'Simple'
replace the word 'Simple' with whatever of your choosing like 'Video' for your video hub or 'Social' for your social media hub and so forth
Adjust your text size, Y and X coordinates, your shadow settings etc.
Click the little blue 'A' in the top right side of the screen and select your font (more on fonts further down)
You also have the option to select the color wheel next to the 'A' and adjust your text color
Select the menu icon on the task bar at the bottom and select 'Save Style' if you want to keep what you created for later use as well.
Click 'Save Icon' which will create your icon for you
Back at the black edit screen remove the text from the text field and click OK
You should now have a custom text icon that will activate whichever screen you chose for it. You can click any app icon on your screen and follow the same procedure for your apps so all your apps also have text icons.
[FONTS] In a file manager go to /sdcard/Simple Text/ and create a folder named 'fonts' (that is plural with an 's' at the end). Next go to somewhere like dafont.com and download you some kewl fonts and place them within that 'fonts' directory you just created. Now when you go into Simple Text to do your editing you will have more fonts to choose from.
That's all there is to it.
You can also work with layers within the creation of your Simple Text. Notice below where I created a new layer, rotated my new text layer and intersected where both words have the letter 'E'.
However you may notice that simple text does have it's limitations:
Icons can only be 1x1
Works best on adw
No way to resize; it is only an icon after all.
Miscellaneous
ISSUE: You may experience widget being placed "behind" the black bars. If so try this method provided by user SwiftLegend
1. Put the widgets/icons you want on TOP of the blackbar FIRST. You need these before anything.
2. Select a Minimalistic Text Widget, I usually use 1x1. Clear out the text options (Predefined layout > Custom, delete all of the things there)
3. Once you're back at your homescreen and see the MT Widget, just long press and re size it to your liking.
You HAVE to make sure that whatever you want on TOP of the blackbar is put on the screen FIRST. Anything put on after will go underneath.
ISSUE 2: Users have reported that Minimalistic Widget refuses to post/ show up on the homescreen.
1. Turn your tablet into portrait mode.
2. Add the widget whilst staying in portrait mode as you apply you designs.
3. Rotate back to landscape.
ISSUE 3: You can no longer take full advantage of the screen real estate using adw ex (particularly the corners)
1. Recent update kills the use of every inch of the screen. In his attempt to emulate ICS, anderwebs made the edges of the screen inaccessible.
2. Revert back to an older version (1.3.3)
here's the original layout from the nook color if you guys are interested on putting this on your homescreen HERE

I can't get Multipicture to work. I have my wallpapers in path: sdcard/DCIM/Wallpapers
Within that Wallpapers folder I have 5 folders. Each folder is named and contains one wallpaper image. I go to set the live wallpaper and point each screen to it's corresponding folder and when I click set I don't get anything. I get a black screen telling me I have to set it up in settings. It's frustrating because I can't for the life of me figure it out. Did I put the images on the wrong path? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was advised a few weeks back that the full sizes of the first versions of these icons - pretty much what's seen in the sample layout below the version pics in this post - are too small when applied using DVR in certain setups. All versions except the pink are up and resized. Also in progress is a DVR TUT, stay tuned. These newly bigger ones look best at a 2 row 1 column ratio, and the DVR option you select for widget size - 2x1, or 4x2, or 6x3 - should be closest to the display size you want in advance. Resizing am icon from 2x1 to a 4x2 will stretch the image, but selecting 4x1 and expanding it 1 row will do the trick for a larger icon. Please let me know if this makes sense
Here's V1.2: grey toned buttons with colored glyphs. Contains the same icons as V1.1R
V2.1R & 2.2R

Please post your screens or links to them - I'd love to see what you've done with the icons
On applying the icons: I use a photo editing program to put the icons on whichever screens I'd like, directly on the wallpaper. Not only can I then space the icons however I please, but this also allows for different wallpapers on different screens.
One of the easiest ways to apply whatever icons you'd like (without a computer, or on your phone) it to use Desktop Visualizr: these icons will come out best at 2 rows wide by 1 tall, depending on your layout. I am in the process of writing a very in depth TUT on doing so for a variety of setups, so please stay tuned Here are the very basics
1. You can save the icon image(s) to your SD card and apply it as a widget anywhere on the screen. 2x1 works best. Long press, choose DVR 2x1, select the image on the prompt, and selection the app/action that corresponds to it.
You can apply the icons to wallpaper via photo editing, then simply use transparent .png pictures to put your shortcuts/apps in the areas over the paper using DVR.
Here are some tutorials and discussions: click, clicky, click, clicky, and click.
If you haven't seen PaulMZ's Windows Phone theme for Android over at Android Forums, his first post gives a huge amount of great info on Desktop Visualzr and image editing for custom icons on your homescreen.
To use different wallpapers on different screens, there are two applications I know of to do this, both free on the market: MultiPicture LiveWallpapers and Super Wall Lite. I prefer Super Wall because it hogs less memory and it MUCH more stable in my experience. Please ignore the bad ratings: those were given by users who were not informed about how to apply the super paper: you must access the app via the 'Live Wallpapers' setting on your phone; the same is true for MultiPicture.
There is another benefit in using 'panoramic papers' of Super Wall- that is, one extra wide paper styled to use on mutliple screens. In MultiPicture, however, you must apply one paper to each screen. Since I am always changing screens, and can often be testing icons and themes on 7 screens at one, I prefer the ease of Super Wall in just making one big paper to span all the screens.
If you aren't familiar with a lot of image editing practice, I am glad to apply the icons to a paper of your selection - just post the paper and which icons you'd like applied, along with your phone's resolution/model and your layoud grid for columns and rows.
If you like what I have done and would like to show your gratitude, Leo is pretty hungry...

Blank tiles for applying live info to are in the the post below and included in each set above (9/22).
Draft of Instructions for Live Tiles: more info/screens soon.
The font closest to what I used in the V1 icons is Jersey M54- click here to download from DaFont.
The font for the serif tiles is DejaVu Serif Condensed.
The best way to make 'live' tiles, frankly, is to apply the icons to your wallpaper, then put whatever text widgets you'd like on top. You can put the icon down as a widget using Desktop Visualizer then apply another text widget on top if your home launcher supports 'overlapping widgets' during customization. This will work...or it won't. Often, people say it works until the phone is rebooted - then presto, chango, the widgets are unstacked.
I am sure that some of you have mastered 'make your own widgets' like Chronotopia or M-clock, and can then use the icon as the backdrop with the desired text on top - I hope to give these or other similar apps a try in the near future, but I myself find it preferable just to mess with the wallpaper
There are blank email, gmail, call, sms, calendar and clock icons enclosed within all versions.
I have used SMS unreadcount mods on all the tiles- the easiest way is to apply the icons to your paper, then put a transparent icon for the SMS unreadcount bubble. I have done the same with ADW Ex notification bubbles, using ADW Ex to make the icon for the gmail/phone/sms icon a blank image over the top of the paper. I am glad to help out with this process

Sorry, I was just updating the thread with another color scheme and instructions.
Basically they icons are:
1. png's to apply to your wallpaper in a photo editor - put them wherever you want, then use transparent icons/shortcuts/widgets on top - a lot of people use Desktop VisualizR to do that.
2. Apply with Desktop VisualizR using the images as the actual widgets; you can use any image to as a widget/shortcut. This limits the size of the icon to whatever your grid layout is for you screen. So if your grid is a vageuly squarish setup - like 4 columns by 6 rows - then the image would be resized to fit in this space. That means you're somewhat restricted on how closely you can place icons/images together, and where they can go on your screen. That's why I personally use method 1.
3. Also, some home launchers (like ADW) will let you replace default icons with your own images. This has the same restrictions as 2.
I promise to do a step-by-step and link TUTs for this by tomorrow with screen shots.
In the meantime, I am happy to apply the icons to a wallpaper of your choice if you are familiar with using Desktop VisualizR- that allows you to put transparent shortcuts on top for anything you want. I would need your paper, grid layout, and phone model/resolution.
Come back soon for more, sorry for the delay MP

Using ADW as a launcher, Desktop Visualizer for the icons, Ultra Player for music Android Pro for the Twitter feeder, Minimalistic Text for the status and Animated Analog Clock for clock.
Swipe down and you get notifications, swipe up and you get app drawer.

360 launcher - Complete rework theme - HDPI only?

{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So I've reworked 360 launchers settings giving icons shadows, resizing them, removing icon names and dock bar. (ignore the milocker shot, not part of launcher)
To add icons just decompile add a full sized icon to drawableHDPI with the first part of the underscore names from this website http://activities.droidicon.com/
(example)
goto the android activity website and search for facebook. It'll list four kinda of activities. Get the third activity which is "com_facebook_katana_loginactivity" now compare it to the first one "com.facebook.katana" now if you cut the actual launch activity off (which is longinactivity) and make an icon called "com_facebook_katana.png" now you have to add app_ to the start of it. so if you make an icon called "app_com_facebook_katana.png" you'll have a theme facebook application. Pretty simple. Probably easiest application i've seen to theme.
(example)
all over parts can be altered in values dimensions and styles. If you want to add icon names back, etc.
Things that don't work:
After adding shadows to the icons the folders have a shadow overlayed onto them.
----
I take no credit for anything here, I didn't make the launcher or the icons, all I've done is modify it. All credit to the original authors. If anyone has a problem just let me know.
----
Launcher can be found here
Edit: oh yeah, the layout used is 9 x 7, go into preferences to change this.
Thanks for sharing Taine
Thanks for sharing the details! And yup, most definitely HDPI only. These are from my MDPI Optimus V.
Taine, is it possible for you to share the MiLocker .mtz? Thanks in advance.

Thought so! could easily be fixed by decompiling and adjusting the icon size though! it's just in res/value/dimension.xml then move shadow location on the background image to fit!
amazing taine! thanks for sharing

hmm, can you post a screenshot? I've only tested it on my phone, so can only see from that. The dock icons will always be miniature because I made it as small as possible for my layout effect. as for the shadows, I'm not sure why that could be. :/

Yeah, that's correct. You need to remove the icons from the dock, I made it as small as possible so the page indicators are as low to the bottom of the screen. As for the suave icons, they're just the ones left over from my experimenting, so not full size. Just add your own full sized icons using the file names and they'll fit. I only really full size themed the apps I mainly use. As for the folder, i didn't bother re-alligning the icons because the overlay shadow kinda ruins the folder icons anywho. Probably won't suit everyone. But i modified this launcher to my needs and tastes!

Help please!
Hey all,
First of all, thanks to Taine0 for sharing his wonderful ideas and APK's!
I have an MDPI phone (HTC Aria) and I've been trying to figure out how to re-align the shadows for my icons!
I think I have the actual icons looking okay, but there are a few things I need help on:
1. How can I re-enable the "Application name" text under each icon?
2. How can I align the icon shadow to look like Taine0's screenshot?
3. How can I add more icons, such as QuickPic. (I tried to use the DroidIcon Activity name, replaced the icon, but it wouldn't work )
Thank you to all who will help!
A couple screenshots!!!

Right 1. go into res/value/styles.xml and under work space icon make the font about 11.0sp and the color to FFFFFF(or whatever black is in hex) you may need to adjust the workspace icon padding top in res/value/dimensions.xml (theres also a valuemdpi/dimensions.xml to adjust icon size and some different things.
2. theres two ways to do this. Make an MDPI version of the shadow file and shrink it or reposition the shadow within the PNG to make it line up with the shadows. (it was trial and error for me)
3. I'll give you an example.
goto the android activity website and search for facebook.
4. Notice the page indicators aren't quite as low on MDPI, go into res/values/dimensions.xml and change the bottombar size. If you want the dock back. just change it to the size you want the icons to be.

Hey Taine, I've been lurking around XDA for quite a while now. But only registered an account to post in this thread!
Basically, I just found about 360 Launcher and would love to use your 'port', however I have a MDPI device (Samsung Galaxy Ace) I saw you said you need to decompile and edit the xml file. I have decompiled, and found the xml file, but I am a 'noob' to editing for android so I do not know the values, any help?
Regards,
P.s. Thanks !
EDIT: I've found the icon size of your icons is 72px, I will batch change the size to 48px using photoshop.
Could you guide me through the rest of the steps to ensure the setup for MDPI?
edit 2 A link to all 'drawable-HDPI' icons for MDPI (converted from 72px x 72 px to 48 x 48).
As I can't post links.. here: [addhttphere] goo.gl/Lp8fq
So far...so good
Thank you so much for all the help!!
Here's what my phone looks like now after:
1. Setting icon name text to white and 11.0sp size
2. Attempting AND FAILING to re-align the shadow.
3. Decreasing the docksize, so the indicators are in their proper place.
I tried to shrink the shadow for the icons, but I don't know what I'm supposed to reduce it to. I have a 320x480 resolution phone. What do you recommend?
ALSO:
I followed your instructions for theming custom apps, and it worked successfully for:
MiLocker
QuickSSH'd
Facebook
Edit: Root Explorer
however, when I try to theme the app "QuickPic" (using the same method) it doesn't take any effect Please help! And once again, thank you!!!
Edit: Taine0, in your screenshots, how did you get BatteryBar right below your statusbar? It looks really nice!!! I followed the instructions in this thread, but it doesn't look like yours. please share! EDIT AGAIN I figured out how to ^^ (the battery bar on bottom) solved on pg 32 of ^ that thread
awesome...greaatt dude.can u share xml for bottom indicators or u can modded go launcher bottom indicator
