[Tablet Theme] VintageVega by newbe5 (Zebwen) - Android Themes

Original post is here (competition post).
I have also posted this in the Vega section, but as a lot of tablets have the exact same screen size (1024x600) and in some cases people are running very similar ROMs, this should work pretty well on other devices too (not tested though!), and in case any tweaking is needed, the PST files I used to create all of this are at the end of the post.. I have drawn heavily in the past from the G-Tab and Toshiba Folio 100 forums for things to use on my Vega, for which I thank you all! So this is hopefully my way of giving a little back
I'm going to keep this as short as possible otherwise it's going to swiftly turn into a wall of text, but here is a brief outline of that I was going for
I wanted a completely "unique" look for my Vega. I've tried basically every launcher/home screen available, and none of them felt right. Honeycomb is in the wild, but until that makes it's way to the Vega in a fast and stable form I wanted something that I enjoyed using day-to-day. So, here is VintageVega:

This is an original pack created by me, containing 28 "Objects" and 3 Wallpapers (with a shelf to place some of the objects on) for now. I'm sure that I will add more later. Further down this post you will also find ALL of the PSD files I used to create all of the objects and wallpapers. So if you have Photoshop or GIMP you can edit these yourself to your own liking. You will be able to achieve this entire set up using entirely free applications available on the Android Market, and you will need NO knowledge of advanced tools (such as ADB from the Android SDK). this can all be done directly from your Vega.
To set up VintageVega, you will need the following apps:
ADW.Launcher (I am using ADWLauncher EX but normal ADW should be fine.
Set up your launcher Auto-Stretch icons, and set the grid to 6 Columns and 6 Rows (columns is flexible, but you will probably have to keep the rows at 6 for the shelf). Also I would fix the launcher orientation ot Landscape (VintageVega ONLY works in landscape mode!).
A nice clock widget! I use (and paid for) ShotClocks but you could easily use the free Big Ben Clock or many alternatives on the Market.
SiMi Folder Widget for creating lovely categorized folders on the desktop.
Desktop VisualizeR to place all of the objects in onto your screen
Here are some images of how I have set up my Vega using the VintageVega pack:
This is an EXAMPLE, you can set up VintageVega in any way you like!
Home screen:
Lightswitch on the right opens the app drawer (accross all screens).
clock is a ShotClocks widget.
Portrait on the left (of me and my daughter ) opens the Gallery app.
Cash Register under the portrait opens the Android Market.
Globe opens the browser (Miren Browser for me).
Calendar under the clock opens the Calendar App.
Scrapbook (with stamps) opens the Social Networking SiMi Folder widget (more on that later).
Toolbox opens the Settings menu.
Stack of letters on the shelf opens the Email app.
Office Screen:
The World Map opens Google Maps Application.
Books along the shelf opens Aldiko (but could easily open Kindle App or a SiMi Folder widget with multiple choices).
Newspaper rack opens news reader app (Pulse in my case).
Phone opens Skype.
Entertainment Screen:
Film Projector screen opens SiMi Folder containing BBC iPlayer and YouTube apps.
The 3 portraits along the top open: Angry Birds - Seasons | Angry Birds | Dungeon Defenders (The PST to create your own framed image is linked in the PST pack at the bottom of this post).
The Radio on the bottom right opens the Music App (but again, this could open another SiMi Folder).
The Games along the bottom left open a SiMi folder containing a list of my games, here is an example of how a SiMi Folder set up in this way looks:
Please note, ALL screen shots above have been lowered in quality to make them smaller files, the images are actually MUCH higher resolution than this.
To set up a SiMi Folder Widget:
Open the app Drawer and select SiMi Folder.
Select "Add Folder".
Choose a folder name, and set the folder type to "Apps", then click Save.
Select your newly created folder, and tap on "Applications" on the right.
Add all of your desired applications to the folder.
Click Save, and then exit.
All done!
To add an object to your home screen:
Copy all of the objects images in a folder to your memory card.
Long-press on a blank area of the screen and choose "Widgets" to add a widget.
Select one of the "Desktop VisualizeR" (from now on I will refer to this as DTV) sized widgets (selecting 4x4 gives the best image quality, then you can re-size the widget to the correct size afterwards.
Tap on the newly created DTV widget to open the DTV menu and start configuring your object.
For Icon, select one of the VintageVega Object images from the gallery (or whatever app you chose).
For Action, you can either select "Launch Application" to select a single application, or "Other" to choose a SiMi Folder that you have already set up.
Once you have selected an action, clear the Label field so it is blank.
Change the "Touch Effect" from Orange to "None".
Click OK!
That's it! It seems like a long process, but once you are used to it, you will be adding and moving objects to your hearts desire
Incase that's too hard to follow, here's a quick video that should clear things up
And so, without ANY further waffling... Here are the files
Download the VintageVega Object Pack.
Download the VintageVega Wallpaper Pack.
PST files for those that wish to create their own framed images (or those who are just curious).
Wallpaper PST (Caution, 30mb File!) - High resolution PST file (with shelf) for you to create your own VintageVega wallpapers.
Objects PST - Source files for ALL of the objects included in VintageVega (incase you want to modify any of them yourself). NOTE: The social Icons pack included here was not created by me, it was created by Dawghouse and are free to use.
PLEASE do not repost these as your own work, but feel free to modify and enjoy this as you wish. Please let me know of any problems! And soon I will hopefully post some YouTube vids of this in action and some easy to follow tutorials on YouTube (for those of you who can't follow the written instructions ).
One last note: I specifically designed the wallpaper/shelf on VintageVega to match up with standard Icon sets, such as iDroid so you can actually have those icons sat on the shelf if you wish, and it doesn't look bad to boot
Example:
So if you find that there are objects missing from the pack that you would like, you can always use an icon instead
Add icons in the same way as normal with DTV.
Enjoy!

This is just amazing! I could see the same set up for different environments!

Hi Zebwen, I have a SGT and will try it. I'm new at this so it will take a while.
Cheers, and a damn good job mate !!!
LE: Works great. Just need to adjust the BG to have the shelf aligned with the icons.
Thanks a lot. This is opening new ways to customize your Android device.

Hi there! I've made a custom-sized wallpaper for phone devices for you that might work a little better (I based it on the SGS screen dimensions).
I pretty much guessed at the shelf location, so you will have to play with ADW row numbering to get it to fit. If the shelf needs adjusting just let me know (best way would be to post a screenshot) so I can see how much it is out by and fix it!
Zeb

A completely random Twitter Search resulted in me finding this page with a big shoutout for VintageVega! Also, this twitter search show's it had been re-tweeted a whole bunch of times without me even knowing :/
Ah well, nice to see that it's getting out there!
newbe5 / Zebwen

This is brilliant, it deserves much more attention! I don't have a tablet, but if I did I'd definitely try it out! It'll be great to see if more like this come out, it'll reinvent the home screen's capabilities!

Wow, great theme Zebwen, and good job on the instructions. Couldn't have been simpler. I was gonna ask if you had an icon for AB Rio, but it took all of 5 minutes to create one from your icon pack. Now I'm trying to figure a way to include another set of shelves to place objects(icons) on. I know it's possible to edit the books icon, but I'm thinking maybe editing the wallpaper to include a 2nd 1/2 screen shelf. This way I can place icons directly on top of the shelf. With the edited books icon, you can only get so close to an adjacent icon.
Again, great job!.
Tony
In case anyone's interested. An AB Rio icon and an updated AB Seasons icon.

BRILLIANT! These are the first custom Objects I have seen since I released the pack, thanks a lot for doing these! It't nice to see that people are enjoying VintageVega BTW your going to want to save these as PNG24 files to preserve the transparency
When you are done setting it up, would you mind posting a screenshot of your home screen?
Zeb

Here's where I am so far. Still tweaking..
The "test" screen is just used for tweaking.
For some reason the rom I'm on (GHarmony GB) is not allowing for screenshots (Screenshot ER or DDMS) so I just took a couple pics with my Dx. so the quality kinda sucks.

Gtablet, running this rom ---> G-Harmony Gingerbread 2.3.3

Good! Glad to see it is working well on other tablets too. Hopefully starting work on a new theme soon, similar but with a more modern style

For some reason I'm having problems changing wallpapers. When I use the normal method (long press blank area, wallpapers, gallery, select pic) ES freezes up. No biggie, I can still just open a pic in ES, choose "set wallpaper" and chose the wallpaper.
For now, I'm trying to find a good icon for ES (file cabinet, file folder, etc.)
I actually prefer a modern theme. Looking forward to your efforts. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
Here's what I got so far for ES Explorer:

I like them! If you manage to finish it off would you mind me re-posting them in the main post?

Couple of notes: I use Calibri font exclusively, so please install by copy & pasting Calibri and Calibri Bold under \windows\font. Also, the main theme goes in \Program Files\Lakeridge\
Also, I included the Icon templates in PSD format for the Home Page Main Apps and the regular icons. If you create some icons, please share them in this thread so others can use them as well, thanks!!

Left vertical bar is battery: Yellow is regular, green is charging
Right vertical orange bar is reception
B square is for Bluetooth: Blue is on. Tapping it toggles it on/off
W square is for Wifi: Green is on. Tapping it toggles it on/off
O square is for online: Orange is on
V square for volume: Yellow is on, red is vibrate, grey is mute. Tapping it brings up volume control
Upper right clock:
Tapping it opens up task manager. May change it to something else (besides clock). What app is the HTC Task manager?
Main app boxes:
Music = Pocket Player
Navi = iGO8
AltTab = TaskFacade
Lock = S2U2
Next appointment:
Tapping it opens up Agenda One, which you can change to your own organizer

Current city can by tapped to bring up visiting city and vice versa
Tapping on the weather pic itself opens up the Full Weather dock
SOFTWARE PAGE
Pretty self-explanatory, although the grid uses Object Grid, so to add, you must be in Author Mode. This is the only way to add those nice custom icons.
Tapping Software again brings up Resco Explorer
The Menu button on the far left is replaced by Home button, which closes the dock
SYSTEM PAGE
The four notification boxes mimic the little squares on the upper left side of the Home menu.
The grid uses Object Grid, so to add, you must be in Author Mode. This is the only way to add those nice custom icons.
Tapping System again brings up control panel
The Menu button on the far left is replaced by Home button, which closes the dock
IMPORTANT! Download the weather icons here: http://rapidshare.com/files/217925270/Concept_Moderne_Weather_Icons.zip
Also, I have found a small error on the weather page. Tomorrow's Forecast is not set right and is actually only reading off Today's Forecast.
Open the full weather page by clicking on the weather pic at the bottom of the Home Page.
Go to Author Mode and hold n' tap Tomorrow's Forecast text. The "Text to display" should read %MultiForecast1%. If yours is not, change it to that. Now your Tomorrow Forecast is going to show tomorrow's forecast.

simply perfect.
Sorry, ive gotta dissagree with everyone else here. Its beautiful sure.. but isnt it a bit cluttered? and also it looks like its a tad unconventional and might be difficult to use. But still a very great looking UI

I really like the layout, but I do think you could incorporate more of a color theme to this to glue everything together a bit better. Another item to note is the use of (or lack of) docks.. The homepage has a lot going on which could be solved with a top down swipe to remove some clutter. Music integration with song information would be nice as well.

Can you go more in details in what you are mentioning? I believe I do have a color theme going: white, light grey, dark grey, and orange. Do you see something else otherwise or lacking?
As for the docks, the Software, System, and Contacts button on the bottom open up their own perspective docks. The Agenda and Weather has their own docks. What other docks/features do you propose? What do you consider with the top-down swipe?
Music integration is something I will add later. The only thing is that there is no relatively universal music integration for the main apps out there. I use exclusively Pocket Player, in which I can add the fast forward, rewind, play/pause buttons. Other people wants S2P, Nitrogen, Core Player, or WMP. Perhaps, there's an app that can mimic A2P functions?

where do we put the other 2 files.
It does abit annoy me though that you havn't even mentioned where you got the "inspiration" for this theme from. Atleast credit the original creator.

Sorry, I had this thread in the WAD2 forum, where the original Concept WAD for Omnia was pretty well known. I did update my first post to include that thread: http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15005
As you can see, I was inspired by the theme and color palette, but my overall design is very different from the original Concept Omnia version.

I posted my remarks in the WAD2 forum, but to keep the xda community informed, here are my remarks: I am so incredibly impressed with your design work, your graphics and the WisBar software. The software alone has opened a new world. My problem is I don’t understand the WisBar programming technique enough to know how or where to “program” it to have the same outcome and appearance as your design would dictate, and frankly I don’t have the time to teach myself. I am a computer hacker so I know a fair amount, but not the intricacies of a new program like WisBar. Can you find time to describe in slightly more detail, in what directories (or even if you have to make new directories) how to make my phone operate as the YouTube demo I watched. I think your knowledge would be a real gift to the community.

Not that I think I will get time to do it, but if there isn't a WVGA version would either of you mind if I had a go as a homage!

This looks incredible. Most original idea i have seen for a home screen. Good work.
Thanks If anyone tries this on the G-Tab, be sure to get back to me and let me know how it goes!
Wow. Nice work. Very inventive.
SO this is nothing like a rom, but maybe more like a skin for ADW? I actually use this launcher and may have to give your idea a go around.......if i do i will post what happens!

Yea, this isn't a ROM, it's a kind of "Manual Skin" that doesn't require any knowledge of ADB (or any of the SDK tools) and doesn't require ClockworkMod flashing etc. You can use these packs to set your screen up however you like. This should also work in most launchers BTW, not just ADW.
I gotta admit,
This is pretty friggin tight!
Goog Job Zeb!
Thought I'd try this but got stuck because I couldn't find Desktop Visualizer in the app market. I tried downloading the apk but it crashes whenever I try to find a custom icon. Is there a fix for this or does anyone know of an alternative to Desktop Visualizer?

Thanks for the kind words all! I'd love to see some screenshots if anyone has tried getting this set up on the G-Tab!
This look sick but very time consuming even for one that is tech savvy. Once again this is bad ass is there a way to put it all together in and zip format we could download and apply thru clockwork. Now that would be extremely bad ass.

I started playing with this today, unfortunately DTV wouldn't recognize the PSD objects as images. So I did a batch conversion from PSD to PNG using Adobe Fireworks and that worked for DTV to see them as icon images but the icons wouldn't line up (Sit) properly on the shelf of the wallpaper properly, even with setting the icons to Autostretch in ADW_EX settings.
I had to experiment with the cropping of the wallpaper to get the icons to sit nicely. However if I tried to resize the icons it wouldn't sit properly afterwards so I would be stuck with the original size of the object, leaving little room on the shelf to place other objects.
Also, DTV did not have the option for me to set the lightswitch object as the drawer launcher. So I had to create the lightswitch launcher under Settings > Add > Launcher Actions > Open/Close App Drawer. And from there Long Press the Icon > Edit > Click on Launcher Icon > Choose Lightswitch from Gallery (Or file Explorer). But that left the Lightswitch object on whatever page I created it on.
I was hoping I can set the lightswitch icon as the main dockbar button so it would show up on all the homescreens via ADW_EX settings but it only gave me the option to set the image as the background with the original icon still over it.
Thanks again Zeb, but as sweet as this theme looks, it seems its a very tedious task to achieve the proper "Vintage" look and feel with all the Haberdasheries on the GTAB.

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to try this out, I'll try my best to answer a couple of points:
1) You don't need to use the PSD files at all unless you want to change the original files. If you simply download the Object Pack (just above the bottom of the original post), all of the objects are already in PNG format and scaled correctly. There is also a PNG Wallpaper pack there too! So no need whatsoever to convert them from PSD unless you want to change them a bit first.
2) I'm not 100% sure ont he wallpaper sizing for the G-Tab (do you guys use the Big-Bar or Small-Bar?). This was tested on a Vega with the Small-Bar.
3) For the lightswitch, don't use a DTV icon. Just create a regular ADW-EX icon that opens the app drawer, and give it the lightswitch image for it's icon, then move it into the correct position on the sidebar (you can change the sidebar settings in ADW-EX to only have one icon slot, which is what I did for the switch.
If you try those things, you should be good to go It really shouldn't take long to set up, but I realise it might not be perfect no the G-Tab. I can always change some things to help if you need though!

Hiya!
The Objects.. (The Till, Globe, Books, Mail, Etcc..) within the Above Zip file are in PSD format only, The Wallpaper and the Vintage Stamps are in PNG format.
Thanks for the tips on the set up, I'll give it another go when I get some free time.
Edit: I see where I went wrong, I DL'd the files at the very bottom and not the files below the Image Groups.
This might help!
Zeb

(Seeing as there's no General Thread for tablets, I've re posted this here.)
Hey guys I finally ported my "hubs" set up to Android Tablets and I have to say its 10x smoother on our 1.0 ghz dual core device. The general idea of "Hubs" is to create a dedicated screen for each piece of media/productivity while providing a visual eye candy. "Hubs" is easy to emulate, and even easier to create your own style. Despite the lengthy tutorial, its actually easier than it seems. The fun part comes with setting up you layout!
What you'll need:
Main
Adw Launcer EX
Launcher Pro Plus
Multi Live Wallpaper
Minimalistic Text
Simple Text
Optional
Pulse (for widgets)
Cowon Clock/ BobClock Widget
Mizuu Movies
Launcher Pro Plus (Widgets)

FINAL
WALKTHROUGHADW Launcher Users[/U][/B]
-To remove top bar-Press and hold and empty area on your home screen then click on "Launcher Actions" > "Hide/Show Action Bars"
-Enable Widget Overlapping-"Menu"> "ADW Settings"> "UI Settings" > "Screen Preference"> Check "Overlap Widgets" in the Advanced Settings Tab
-Increase Retail Space on your screen-"Menu"> "ADW Settings"> "UI Settings" > "Screen Preference"> Increase the desktop "Rows" and "Columns" in the "Desktop Layout" Tab.
Launcher Pro Plus Users- while not optimized for 3.2, it still runs perfect.
-Increase Retail Space on your screen-"Menu"> "Preference" > "Homescreen Settings" > Increase the "Number of columns/rows" in the Homescreen Grid.
-Remove Icons From Right Dock- Hold your finger on the icon you wish to remove> "change shortcut"> "Blank"
*You may add screen transitions for each launcher if you wish, however my advise is to leave it at default as you can set transition for Multi Live wallpaper. Doing both launcher and MLW will make your screen look "too busy" IMO.
To set the "Bars" (Titles for "Home", "Music", "Movies" etc.)
Minimalistic Text
-To set title- Press and hold a free space on the screen > "widgets" > "Minimalistic Text" (size may vary per style however I use either 4x2 or 6x1 as long as its horizontal > ensure that "background color" is checked > "Predefined Layout" > "Custom" > "Custom Layout" > Click on the plus sign > "Misc" > "Static Text".
-Black Bar Tutorial click here
Wallpapers
-Set up - Load up your wallpapers on your sd card/internal memory and placing them into seperate folders and name them based on the images (ex. Music, Movies, Games etc)
- Long press an empty screen on your homescreen > "Wallpapers" > "Live Wallpapers"> "MultiPicture Live Wallpaper"> "Settings"
- For each "Screen _ Settings" Select the picture source as "Picture Folder" and navigate it to point to your corresponding homescreen.
- Additionally you make select the screen transition here that reflects your particular taste. You may also set a default wallpaper for your lockscreen.
Despite the dozen of widget on the homescreen and live wallpaper, battery use is minimal.I have provided wallpapers below to help you get started.
NAVIGATING BETWEEN HUBS
There are two methods in which you can navigate to each individual homescreen.
Method one: Prior/Alternate way for navigation text was achieved using this methodby trekkie0927. Using invisible icons in tandem with minimalistic text can make it easier to flip to each hubs. Please rate/comment his video.
Method two: I found a great alternative to Minimalistic Text in terms of using the text buttons to jump from one screen to another called Simple Text. Since it's only an icon and not a widget, it consumes no memory and provides a great minimal look.
User AcIdC0R3 has posted a great tutorial. (Please thank him!)
Make sure you have ADWLauncher EX
Go to the market and install Simple Text
Long press on the screen and select 'Custom Shortcut'
'Pick your activity', select 'Launcher Actions'
Choose which screen you want, 1 - 5 or 1 - 7 if your using seven screens
Click on the picture of the 2 screens side by side
Select 'ADWTheme IconPacks' and select 'Simple Text'
Select the grey box named 'Simple'
replace the word 'Simple' with whatever of your choosing like 'Video' for your video hub or 'Social' for your social media hub and so forth
Adjust your text size, Y and X coordinates, your shadow settings etc.
Click the little blue 'A' in the top right side of the screen and select your font (more on fonts further down)
You also have the option to select the color wheel next to the 'A' and adjust your text color
Select the menu icon on the task bar at the bottom and select 'Save Style' if you want to keep what you created for later use as well.
Click 'Save Icon' which will create your icon for you
Back at the black edit screen remove the text from the text field and click OK
You should now have a custom text icon that will activate whichever screen you chose for it. You can click any app icon on your screen and follow the same procedure for your apps so all your apps also have text icons.
[FONTS] In a file manager go to /sdcard/Simple Text/ and create a folder named 'fonts' (that is plural with an 's' at the end). Next go to somewhere like dafont.com and download you some kewl fonts and place them within that 'fonts' directory you just created. Now when you go into Simple Text to do your editing you will have more fonts to choose from.
That's all there is to it.
You can also work with layers within the creation of your Simple Text. Notice below where I created a new layer, rotated my new text layer and intersected where both words have the letter 'E'.
However you may notice that simple text does have it's limitations:
Icons can only be 1x1
Works best on adw
No way to resize; it is only an icon after all.
Miscellaneous
ISSUE: You may experience widget being placed "behind" the black bars. If so try this method provided by user SwiftLegend
1. Put the widgets/icons you want on TOP of the blackbar FIRST. You need these before anything.
2. Select a Minimalistic Text Widget, I usually use 1x1. Clear out the text options (Predefined layout > Custom, delete all of the things there)
3. Once you're back at your homescreen and see the MT Widget, just long press and re size it to your liking.
You HAVE to make sure that whatever you want on TOP of the blackbar is put on the screen FIRST. Anything put on after will go underneath.
ISSUE 2: Users have reported that Minimalistic Widget refuses to post/ show up on the homescreen.
1. Turn your tablet into portrait mode.
2. Add the widget whilst staying in portrait mode as you apply you designs.
3. Rotate back to landscape.
ISSUE 3: You can no longer take full advantage of the screen real estate using adw ex (particularly the corners)
1. Recent update kills the use of every inch of the screen. In his attempt to emulate ICS, anderwebs made the edges of the screen inaccessible.
2. Revert back to an older version (1.3.3)
here's the original layout from the nook color if you guys are interested on putting this on your homescreen HERE
and here it is in action HEREhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8DxCVzARfE&fmt=38

I can't get Multipicture to work. I have my wallpapers in path: sdcard/DCIM/Wallpapers
Within that Wallpapers folder I have 5 folders. Each folder is named and contains one wallpaper image. I go to set the live wallpaper and point each screen to it's corresponding folder and when I click set I don't get anything. I get a black screen telling me I have to set it up in settings. It's frustrating because I can't for the life of me figure it out. Did I put the images on the wrong path? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was advised a few weeks back that the full sizes of the first versions of these icons - pretty much what's seen in the sample layout below the version pics in this post - are too small when applied using DVR in certain setups. All versions except the pink are up and resized. Also in progress is a DVR TUT, stay tuned. These newly bigger ones look best at a 2 row 1 column ratio, and the DVR option you select for widget size - 2x1, or 4x2, or 6x3 - should be closest to the display size you want in advance. Resizing am icon from 2x1 to a 4x2 will stretch the image, but selecting 4x1 and expanding it 1 row will do the trick for a larger icon. Please let me know if this makes sense
Here's V1.2: grey toned buttons with colored glyphs. Contains the same icons as V1.1R
V2.1R & 2.2R
V4.1, .2, & .3: White, Color, and Smoked Glass

Please post your screens or links to them - I'd love to see what you've done with the icons
On applying the icons: I use a photo editing program to put the icons on whichever screens I'd like, directly on the wallpaper. Not only can I then space the icons however I please, but this also allows for different wallpapers on different screens.
One of the easiest ways to apply whatever icons you'd like (without a computer, or on your phone) it to use Desktop Visualizr: these icons will come out best at 2 rows wide by 1 tall, depending on your layout. I am in the process of writing a very in depth TUT on doing so for a variety of setups, so please stay tuned Here are the very basics
1. You can save the icon image(s) to your SD card and apply it as a widget anywhere on the screen. 2x1 works best. Long press, choose DVR 2x1, select the image on the prompt, and selection the app/action that corresponds to it.
You can apply the icons to wallpaper via photo editing, then simply use transparent .png pictures to put your shortcuts/apps in the areas over the paper using DVR.
Here are some tutorials and discussions: click, clicky, click, clicky, and click.
If you haven't seen PaulMZ's Windows Phone theme for Android over at Android Forums, his first post gives a huge amount of great info on Desktop Visualzr and image editing for custom icons on your homescreen.
To use different wallpapers on different screens, there are two applications I know of to do this, both free on the market: MultiPicture LiveWallpapers and Super Wall Lite. I prefer Super Wall because it hogs less memory and it MUCH more stable in my experience. Please ignore the bad ratings: those were given by users who were not informed about how to apply the super paper: you must access the app via the 'Live Wallpapers' setting on your phone; the same is true for MultiPicture.
There is another benefit in using 'panoramic papers' of Super Wall- that is, one extra wide paper styled to use on mutliple screens. In MultiPicture, however, you must apply one paper to each screen. Since I am always changing screens, and can often be testing icons and themes on 7 screens at one, I prefer the ease of Super Wall in just making one big paper to span all the screens.
If you aren't familiar with a lot of image editing practice, I am glad to apply the icons to a paper of your selection - just post the paper and which icons you'd like applied, along with your phone's resolution/model and your layoud grid for columns and rows.
If you like what I have done and would like to show your gratitude, Leo is pretty hungry...

Draft of Instructions for Live Tiles: more info/screens soon.
The font closest to what I used in the V1 icons is Jersey M54- click here to download from DaFont.
The font for the serif tiles is DejaVu Serif Condensed.
The best way to make 'live' tiles, frankly, is to apply the icons to your wallpaper, then put whatever text widgets you'd like on top. You can put the icon down as a widget using Desktop Visualizer then apply another text widget on top if your home launcher supports 'overlapping widgets' during customization. This will work...or it won't. Often, people say it works until the phone is rebooted - then presto, chango, the widgets are unstacked.
I am sure that some of you have mastered 'make your own widgets' like Chronotopia or M-clock, and can then use the icon as the backdrop with the desired text on top - I hope to give these or other similar apps a try in the near future, but I myself find it preferable just to mess with the wallpaper
There are blank email, gmail, call, sms, calendar and clock icons enclosed within all versions.
I have used SMS unreadcount mods on all the tiles- the easiest way is to apply the icons to your paper, then put a transparent icon for the SMS unreadcount bubble. I have done the same with ADW Ex notification bubbles, using ADW Ex to make the icon for the gmail/phone/sms icon a blank image over the top of the paper. I am glad to help out with this process

Sorry, I was just updating the thread with another color scheme and instructions.
Basically they icons are:
1. png's to apply to your wallpaper in a photo editor - put them wherever you want, then use transparent icons/shortcuts/widgets on top - a lot of people use Desktop VisualizR to do that.
2. Apply with Desktop VisualizR using the images as the actual widgets; you can use any image to as a widget/shortcut. This limits the size of the icon to whatever your grid layout is for you screen. So if your grid is a vageuly squarish setup - like 4 columns by 6 rows - then the image would be resized to fit in this space. That means you're somewhat restricted on how closely you can place icons/images together, and where they can go on your screen. That's why I personally use method 1.
3. Also, some home launchers (like ADW) will let you replace default icons with your own images. This has the same restrictions as 2.
I promise to do a step-by-step and link TUTs for this by tomorrow with screen shots.
In the meantime, I am happy to apply the icons to a wallpaper of your choice if you are familiar with using Desktop VisualizR- that allows you to put transparent shortcuts on top for anything you want. I would need your paper, grid layout, and phone model/resolution.
Come back soon for more, sorry for the delay MP

[THEME][ZOOPER][WIDGET] Wgilles' Video Game Zooper Themes (UPDATED: 5/29/2014)

Hello everyone! I've been posting some of my screens in the Home Screen Thread, but I've decided to make my own thread with all of my video game themes. I can provide some support for users looking to apply these and I am also looking to start taking some requests! I will update the thread as any changes are made and as I add new themes.
REQUESTS - If you wish to make a request for a specific video game, please do the following:
Request it here or PM me
Tell me which video game you want
Include any ideas of what you are looking for
Screenshots of specific items are appreciated
Keep in mind, it may take me a few days to make the theme as I often have to fiddle around in Photoshop and Zooper. I only get to work in Photoshop when I am not at work, which slows me down a little.
There are also some limitations to what I can or can't do. I will do my best to match your requests and to make it as perfect as possible, but I am only human
Let's get started!
What you will need to make these work:
Nova or another launcher (I am using 12x9 grid in Nova)
Zooper Widget Pro
Basic knowledge of Zooper (in case you need to move things around or adjust hotspots)
Final Fantasy 7 Theme

1) HP shows the time in 24 hour format. The bar becomes full as time passes closer to 2400.
2) MP shows battery life. The bar decreases as battery life goes down.
3) The limit bar shows storage space taken up on memory card. The bar increase as more storage is used.
4) The time bar displays days of the week. As the week progresses, the bar becomes more full (Full on Saturday, empty on Sunday).
5) Calls and Texts will both display the "pointer finger" when there is a missed call or unread text. It goes away when everything is read.
6) Sense is a hotspot that opens the internet browser.
7) Item is a hotspot that opens the App Drawer.
8) Everything on the bottom can be changed to whatever you want. There are rectangle hotspots that can be configured, just change the text to your liking.
9) I do have hotspots setup on HP to open the Alarm/Clock, on MP to open battery usage, on Limit to open Storage and on Time to open the calendar.

Fall 3 Pipboy 3000 Theme
This is composed of 3 widgets, the top, middle (Vault boy) and bottom.
There are tons of hotspots to configure to your liking. Here is a brief overview of what each element is.
PHN, SMS, EML (Phone, SMS and Email). Will show a box around each item when you have missed calls, texts or emails (In this example a call was missed).
HP - Battery life
AP - Day of Month/Days in Month
XP - Time in 24 hour format/2400 (hours in Day)
Vault Boy Widget:
Above his head will show next alarm time (or "Not Set" if no alarm is set)
Progress bars (Top left: Day of week, will get filled as week goes on - Top right: If Alarm is set, it is full, if not it will be empty - Bottom Left: Memory bar showing how much memory is left on SD card - Middle: Battery life bar)
Vault boy Level: Shows date
All of these can get reconfigured in Zooper to show whatever you want, you just need to edit them.
Bottom:
Pretty self explanatory, these are app shortcuts. All of them have pretty large hotspots.
I made a lot of the hotspots pretty big so they are easy to click and there is plenty of hotspot space around the text even if you are not accurate.

Halo HUD Theme
This one took a while, each one of those lines on the hud (every bend) is an individual layer and it took a lot of patience to get this right.
1) The grenades are missed texts (frag grenade) and calls (plasma grenade). There are hot spots to launch the application you want.
2) The health bar displays battery life and a hotspot is available to launch battery use.
3) The ammo counter displays the hour of the day in military time and the ammo will increase as the day goes on. Once again, hotspot is available.
4) The radar has a hotspot setup to launch maps.
5) "Radio" has a hotspot ready to launch a music app.
6) "Cortana" has a hotspot setup to launch a web browser.
Each of the hotspots are located at the bottom of the layer list with their corresponding name.
There may have been a little more I could do with this one, but it wore me out with all those damn lines. I'm very happy with it.

Zelda Windwaker Theme
For the icons on this theme, you will need an app that can change the image for application. QuickshortcutMaker or Desktop Visualizer should work fine.
1) Heart battery bar (hearts decrease in 10% increments. The heart with the white line will show at 90%, 80%, etc and the empty heart will show at 80%, 70% when the heart with white lines moves to the next heart.)
2) Clock is displayed as a rupee count
3) Quests shows next 2 calendar events
4) When there are unread SMS messages, the bag will display with a rupee in it (right screen shot) and when all are read it will display an empty bag (left screen shot)
5) When there are missed calls, a broken sword will show (right screen shot) and when there are no missed calls a full sword will show (left screen shot)
6) Shield is there to complete the look, does not change
7) Icons are the following apps going from top down to the right (SMS, App Drawer, Facebook, Alarm/Clock, Browser, Banking App, Maps, Phone)

Resident Evil 2 Inventory Screen Theme
This is comprised of 2 widgets. The top widget is the "status" that contains the top nav bar, condition, equip etc. The bottom widget is everything else. The top widget needs to take up about 1/4 of the screen and the bottom widget should be a full screen widget.
Nifty things this widget does:
-The condition changes from Fine to Caution to Danger depending on battery level (below 50% changes to Caution and below 25% changes to Danger).
-The bottom info screen will display the message "Would you like to read your text message? Yes/No" when you have an unread text. There is a hotspot over "Yes" that you can set to launch your SMS app.
-The inventory on the right side can be set to launch whatever apps you want. The herbs are SMS/Calls/Gmail in that order. Unread or missed will display the count.
-Each inventory item is a PNG, so you can set the actual PNG as whatever hotspot you want (I did the film as the camera, herbs are their respective app, gear as settings, the gem as banking and the lighter as the torch)
-The bar at the top has hotspots ready to go for whatever you want to set them as. The last one is a clock.
-The middle info screen displays next 3 calendar events and free RAM and storage. Hotspots are there to launch your apps.
Wallpaper is a blue background, but is needed to complete the look. Wallpaper and files are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vvkqsuip31k2ysg/AACxVfDRS2dCXM_Thfhy3pN0a

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I'm hoping as I add some more (I'm currently planning a Resident Evil one) that the thread will gain a small following.

There is a really good Super Mario theme floating around here or MyColorScreen somewhere, so I'm going to leave that one alone. However, FF9 sounds like fun. I'll have to look at some Crash Team Racing screen shots and see what I can do. These generally work better with games with inventory screens or expansive menus/customization screens like RPGs.
Updated OP on 5/29/14 with the Assassin's Creed Animus Theme!
Also, I will be on vacation for the next 2 weeks. I'll work on some new stuff when I get back. I'm thinking FF9 as @aldiandrew requested and maybe a Watch Dogs theme.
