I finally got axura running beautiful with awesome battery life on the cog kernel and was wondering if anyone knows if its being developed some where else?

Do you have auxura loaded on your phone? Someone in that thread posted clockwork flashable cog 2 kernal on the auxura thread like a day ago
I have both files, auxura and cog kernal although I an not using the kernal as of now. Just not sure how I would go about posting them and if it is allowed to post auxura

1.flash a clean version of axura if you haven't already
2.Disable lagfix in recovery
3.reboot
4.put the cog kernel on the sd card
5.reboot to recovery
6.intall the kernel zip.
7.reboot
8.enjoy
its as easy as that and will provide some of the best battery life you have ever seen!
If I was to vague let me know and if you need the file pm me with your email so I can send it your way.

I did a straight Odin with the new Cog Kernel (no OV/UV) onto my AXURA RC1. Not problems at all.
I thought I also might add that I'm running the oc version and have experienced zero freezes from start to finish! I see no need to ever flash another rom, but everyone is different.
Thanks so much, will get on it when I get home! Appreciate it yall!

No problem! Unforyunately axura died way too early because of immaturity. Axura is simply the best rom in my opinion

okay just got home and downloaded the new kernel, unfortunately, my battery is at about 42 percent. kernel flashing is probably something i should do at full charge right? oh and i totally agree about this being the best damn rom ever and no need for another one... EVER!!! Seriously hope master decides to come back with his ball so we can keep playing the game, if ya catch my drift...
flash at 100% = best bet have fun!
Whats the best cogkernel to put on as far as battery goes? just booted up with the new OC CogKernel2 and the battery is draining like crazy!! I did flash with a full battery, so something isnt right, im losing about 1% every minute or two. also setcpu back to 1ghz because ive never had any luck with overclocking (phone freezes everytime i use an oc version). and still draining like mad. anyone have any ideas, or the non oc version? maybe i'll recalibrate battery in the morning and wipe batt stats as well? any ideas appreciated. i may just have to start over ::
It's only fair for other XDA users to have access to an already released version in my opinion; here is my personal backup link at fileserve.
http://www.fileserve.com/file/ZbHPhdp
I'm not expert but I flashed the oc CogKernel2 yesterday, then recalibrated my battery. It's been off the charger for at least 13.5 hours and it's sitting at 85% right now. It should also be noted that I only used it a little last night, then a little this morning; so about 7 of the 13.5 hours it was just sitting while I slept. That said, what I'm seeing is much better than what I saw with RC1 and the original kernel. In about the same time and usage on the original kernel it easily had dropped to 70% or just below.
yea i must have had a bad flash, because when i woke up this morning the phone had turned itself off and wouldnt boot up. or would boot and freeze. dont have any idea what the deal is, but just now reflashed rc1 and about to swap to the non oc kernel and see if i have any luck. i just wish i could use oc/uv and be stable dammit!!!! just not fair.... lol
If you guys haven't seen it yet, Hans posted a "support only" thread in the dev section of the forum.
yep, been posting in there too. thanks bro

Hey guys im new to the Captivate. I use to be a heavy iphone user i had the iphone 3g then 3gs then 4 and well i decided its time to take the jump to android. All my iphone were jailbroken so obviously im interested in rooting. I rooted my Captivate the day i got it (Last saturday). I really want to get 2.2 Froyo. Now i keep reading about roms. I know how to load them but what are they, anything you can relate them to as iphone. Now on to my main question since im not to android friendly yet i want a stable 2.2 which one would you recommend to be the most stable. Ive seen Cognition and Axura but i dont know what they do nor do i know if theres better. Sorry to seem like a noob but i mainly got this phone for the learning curve of it so tell me everything haha.
Don't flash Axura first! If you do you'll be disappointed in every other rom you try, lol.
Cognition is a great first flash. It installs the lag fix for you and is very stable (get a non OC version). Axura is my favorite. It is very fast, has some IU tweaks, and they have great support. I still recommend Cognition as a first flash though as everything is done for you during the install. You can pretty much install it, change your wallpaper, sync your contacts and be done with it. (Make sure you sync you contacts with google before you flash)
One thing that I overlooked during my first flash is removing the sim card. Don't forget to do this.
Cognition was my first flash, and I haven't found reason to try something else. Its super fast and stable, and was really easy to flash.
I'm running the beta6 version. These phones are not known for long lasting batteries so I always avoid oc roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Cognition was great, but Perception is even better
Before Flashing I would read the post READ BEFORE FLASHING!!!!! under the dev forum - and make sure you understand how to restore before flashing.
And comparing Apple to Android really is trying to compare Apple to Oranges (pun intended).
NOTHING is the same between the two pretty much.
And.. I'd def go with Cognition as a first ROM - as it is a "basic" ROM that is currently using a Captivate kernel.
After you are really comfortable with tweaking your phone - you have your choice of ROMs. Just beware that the i9000 ROMS have their own unique issues - so flasher beware.
A rom, more or less is a package that updates your phones software. most roms are based off of foreign leaks.
When you flash a rom you are not just getting 2.2. In almost all cases you are getting a new kernel, most of which have s lag fix to further improve performance. Your modem will be changed as well, some moderns enable hsupa or basically faster upload and download speeds then what you have with stock.
Roms also have their own theme. Changes in the notification bar, menus, custom animations, boot animations. Etc
Do not flash anything till you read some, I would suggest starting with this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
This is a program that allows you to go back to stock, also allows you to recovery from a bad flash.
My vote on which to flash us axura or assonance. Axura may be the best option as it is a very user friendly thread and there are many people there who will help you if you need it.

started out with cognition and Axura once it was available.
Cognition, Axura, and Perception were my first three roms and didn't think i would wonder from DG.
Still think DG does great work but i have just about everything with the exception of Darkys (though i have seen a few new ones pop in in the last couple of days i haven't played with Insanity and the ginger clone)......
once i found and flashed Chronos i haven't looked back or missed any other rom enough to flash something else.
So my recommendation would be chronos.

Titanium Backup, it is free in the app store.
You can backup your apps+data, but it is not recommend to backup system settings. It only takes a few minutes to set the system settings, not worth any possible problems later on if you choose to restore them IMO.
ok i just flashed to Cognition Do i need to do anything i read something about the battery also keep seeing something about Voodoo care to help me?
I would read more before flashing
go to your my files. Should see a file called voodoo. Go inside, should be logs, go inside. If there are files in there voodoo is working. Not a bad idea to do a couple reboots

The last time I installed Cognition voodoo was installed automatically, not sure if they have changed it since then. Did your captivate talk to you during the first boot? They usually have a voice telling you what is going on while installing voodoo.
Ok voodoo is running because there 2 folders and file in there

I don't remember doing anything to the battery. They say to make sure it is fully charged before flashing. Maybe there are some tweaks you can do, somebody else who uses Cognition more will have to answer that.

You've got me interested. I'm going to try out Chronus. I'm a fan of minimalistic roms... it would take allot to sway me from Axura though. It just runs so smooth.
Ive been searching this forum to no end to get some information on installing voodoo....every page I read has conflicting information. I have the leaked froyo JI6 and cannot find a voodoo lag fix only instruction set....if anyone with this ji6 has installed voodoo can you please tell me how and if its worth it? also whats with this reddening of the screen? Anyway thanks to all xda people this site rocks.
ps. in addition to the leaked froyo ive rooted with the one click super root. Just a beginner but this lag fix sounds like a necessity
You would have to flash a kernel that has voodoo through odin onto you're phone. My suggestion would be to return to stock then pick out a custom 2.2 rom. Several have voodoo as well as many improvements over what you are using

Are you rooted? If so run a titanium backup for all your user apps, no system data.
I have never used the ji6 leak so as to the look I do not know for certain
cognition is based on leaked captivate froyo, like what you are on. Many, like the rom I am on are on leaks our official releases from other devices.
Voodoo is vastly beter then ryan za oclf. From what you are saying flash stock then cognition. I believe that would be the closest.
If you do not like cognition there are many options out there. If you need help along the way pm me.
Google bar you are talking about is just a widget I believe. It can be there if you want it to

You could just pull the kernel out of the cognition rom and flash that. It will bee the zimage file in the updates folder. Easiest method is using sgs kernel flasher app that neldar created. Then you could keep what you have and enjoy voodoo lagfix as well until you find a rom that you want to try.
Sgs kernel flasher. It is an app in the market that the last poster mentioned. Looks like you can use it to change your kernel and get voodoo. I have not used it yet though
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
See THATS what im talkin about. You guys rock. Once I flash the kernel...which voodoo do i use? Not sure that lagfix only is availabe....have you seen a screen problem with voodoo? One guy said his screen had a red tint and im not really into that kinna stuff. lol
Voodoo uses ext4 file system so not really a choice other than on/off or choosing to use it for /system (yes by default). I have not seen a screen color change using kernels with the "color fix" and I don't think the kernel in cognition even utilizes it, though I could be wrong.

one last question. if hell freezes over and we DO get an official 2.2 pushed to our phones.....the method to disable voodoo is the same for us leaked 2.2 folk correct? making a folder that says disable lagfix ?
If the kernel does not have disable built into recovery, yes disable lagfix folder in voodoo folder on sd card will disable it. Also, if you use Odin to get back to stock it will wipe out the ext4 file system.

Ok so I've noticed a few things. 2.1 stock ran better than stock 2.2 on my phone. So I'm wondering if there are any 2.1 custom roms anywhere? Just to test,I'm running continuum v4. Its great but I've tweaked so much that I feel I need to take all precautions and charge 100% and flash back to stock and the charge 100% before flashing another rom. Any advice?

define "ran better"
You are kidding, right?
no.. seriously noone knows what you consider better..
battery? speed? features? lag? modem speed? call quality?
oh snap!
how long did you run stock before upgrading?
how long have you been using 2.2?
have you tried any other roms than the 1 you are using now?
are you running antivirus? or task managers with 2.2? (LOL that would do it.) WASTE!
Ok I ran 2.1 stick for about 3 weeks and 2.2 stock for about 2 weeks. No antivirus,no lookout or app killer. The roms here run much better,I was speaking as far as stock goes. The thing is that I have tweaked and feel like I've flashed "dirt" so many times (with less than 50% battery every time and never return rom stock) and I fee like its slowly bogging down. As far as 2.1 vs 2.2 stock,I felt like 2.1 multitasked quicker, and easier. And it did everything I wanted with no lag. 2.2 wasn't bad but waking the phone up always took a second to warm up and get going and would lag if I ran Facebook,Gmail, browser and messaging at the same time. I know that's alot but 2.1 stock, handled it. For me anyways. Buy different users get different results I reckon

Just the usual, back up, flash to stock, master clear, charge battery to 100 re download the rom to make sure your copy didn't get corrupted somehow, once you are ready to flash, In cwm wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache, then flash rom. That is the cleanest flash possible.q
way to over complicate!
tibu backup
flash new rom in CWM (all good roms do a wipe NOW, going to stock is pointless!)
tibu restore!

I agree its way over complicated, I dont do it that way myself, he wanted the way to get the "cleanest flash" and the way you mentioned always comes with the disclaimer that if you have problems go back to stock. Usually a simple wipe or reflash would fix the problem but a complicated process like that gives a placebo effect also
I too just wipe cache partition and dalvik cache and flash over, but if you want just a little more super duper clean I go into mounts and storage and wipe every thing but the boot and sd. When I do the verbage actually says formatting not wipe. Who knows it, it could just be a placebo but I haven't had any problems yet.
Samsung SGH I897 Andromeda3 powered, fueled with win
will have to say,i tried clearing cache, going into advanced in recovery and formatting things. but after flashing back to stock and charging battery before doing anything, seemed to help. im back on continuum and its running better than i thought it was when i first flashed it..and,after playing with 2.1 stock today before rooting/flashing rom,i not withdraw my comment about it running better than 2.2 lol. i dont know what it was when i first got it but it seemed to run better.oh well,im satisfied

Not really. Found logcat at 14% in battery usage, no idea how it got activated.
Went ok after a few reboots but cpu is up again, logcat not there anymore.
Probably should master clear.
Can I go to apex from pinnacle?
I followed the procedure in the flasher readme.
edit: just went to apex
Thanks!
By the way, I'm sure I read somewhere (can't find it anymore!) that somebody had a similar issue!
For now I'll stay on the apex version, it's great!
I hope eventually sources for the Captivate version will be released!
Thanks!

No, I have not seen any of those problems on Pinnacle 1.3.
I just installed Pinnacle 1.3 yesterday (coming from KJ3 with the Samurai 1.2 kernel). What's the best kernel to use on Pinnacle? I'm on Boog's latest version. Tried Red Antares for a little bit (not sure why I switched). I like Samurai, and understand it works with Pinnacle, but it's based on KJ3 instead of KH3, so there might be some unknown incompatibilities.
I thought memory use would be less with this ROM? I'm using 329 MB of memory (same as under KJ3). Others have reported much less RAM usage with Pinnacle. Could it be the way KJ3 partitioned my ROM and Pinnacle didn't repartition when I flashed it over KJ3?

You vould try Legend KK4 or Simply Stock KK4. Also, even though it has been discontinued, many people (including my wife) still run Illuminance paired with Corn Kernel.
