Need for Speed motor droid - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

How do I get my motorola droid as fast as possible my long bench mark is at 650 and my short is at 251... rooted.
Carlito's Way

get the setcpu app and change it im currently running at 250 at lowest and 800 at max

My Droid is rooted with 6.1 cm stable and over-clocked at 1100 on CPU, running very well kernel 2.6.32.9 jdlfg- lithmod

[Q] Overclock question

I am using Setcpu on my motorola droid with rooted FRG22. Why wont it let me overclock it higher than 800mhz??? I'm kinda new to doing this and wondering if I'm doing anything wrong. Thank you
[A] Overclock answer
Yes you have SetCPU and your phone is rooted. However, you're missing one more piece to the puzzle. In order for you to clock over 800Hz you have to install a kernal cooresponding to the voltage and what you want to overclock it to. I recommend you googling(haha) p3designs and choose a kernal you want to try. Instructions are on the site as to how to install. I currently have a low voltage of 125Mhz overclocked at 1Ghz. Hope that helps
Question for you Stephen, with you running 1.2Ghz on your droid, has there been any istances of freezing thus far? I was tempted to go higher, though I stuck with 1Ghz to be safe.

The right approach to overclocking is not how fast can you go, but how low can you tolerate? Most Droids are stable to 1.2 ghz. Some can go higher, some can't. I'm running the "stock" 1ghz kernel that comes with Sapphire rom. However, I have it choked back to 800mhz. This gives me 36 hours of battery life on light-moderate use, (3G off, wifi on) but also lag-free performance.
This is chevys 1.25 medium voltage, only reboots were with watching movies online.

The links for the kernals over at p3designs don't seem to be working for me. Does anyone have some overclocking kernels they could post?

I understand what you mean. I've done the trial between 800Mhz and 1Ghz. I have emulators now and I liked the performance on the 1Ghz more because of the speed, so I kept it on 1Ghz. I haven't had any battery drainage issue and all. I liked my low voltage 1Ghz kernal.

Is this the site you tried accessing the kernals? I did a test and downloaded the kernal zip fine.
That does sound impressive. I'm curious to try that out even more so now.

[Q] Kernel Battery Life

Is it me or do Slayher's kernels seem to be head and shoulders above any other dev's in terms of speed? I'm running Pete's BB V0.5 and with Slayher's 900mhz kernel I'm getting about 1300 on Quadrant benchmarks. On Chevy's I was hitting about 1200 with his 1ghz lv kernel, and about the same with P3droid's. Chevy's ran a little cooler than P3droid's and Slayher's, though.
Anyway, what are you guys getting in terms of battery life from these? Any voltage, speed or ROM.
Please no flaming if this is a noob-ish question.

Just ran quadrant with Chevy's 1.2 and got 1726.
Using UD 2.0 right now but I had a similar score on BB 0.5. Batter lasts a full day of continuous use, using the ulv kernel. Phone never gets more than a little warm.

[Q] What's your quadrant score on cm7 RC 2?

I'm just surprised when running cm7 on my nexus one. It felt snappy. But when I put in quadrant, it actually came out in 3rd place when running 998 Max and 245 min. So I overclocked both to 1113 mhz, and the score wasnt impresive either: 1424...which is only a tad bit better than n1 on 2.2. Now does this have to do with the app itself or the device?

Thread moved to Q&A, since this is a question.
FWIW, on my Nexus S, my score (and overall 3d performance) went down considerably between 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 ROMs (e.g. CyanogenMod 7 RC1 and RC2). I used to get ~4000 in Quadrant at 1.4 GHz, whereas now I only get around 3300. The part most telling for me was that in the first 3D test, I used to be locked at 65 fps for the majority of the test. Now I get around 2/3 that. Similarly Smartbench 2010 and 2011 show major declines as well. Not quite as pronounced, but noticeable nonetheless. My previous recorded score was 1635/3669 at 1.4 GHz, and now I get 1551/3251.
On the Nexus S, I know that this decrease in performance is due to the different framebuffer driver in 2.3.3, which now supposedly calibrates the screen to not be as over-saturated and raises the gamma to 2.2 from 1.8. I don't know if this is applicable to the Nexus One.
There is definitely a decrease because I used to have up to 1800 in quadrant when running at 1.113 ghz. But the weird thing is the phone still felt really snappy when I set it to 998 mhz. In contrast, I experienced random lags on cm6 at 1032 mhz. Weird!

[POLL] Overclocking, How far does you galaxy Go and S stay stable? without rebooting

How far is your Galaxy s stable?
mine just hits the 1.1GHZ, beyond that only crashes no matter which voltage i Use. please Use the poll so we have a good picture of what the average galaxy s is capable of..
also comment which version of SGS you are using and 8gb/ 16 Gb etc..
i9000m
PS this thread should be moved to General
had mine at 1.54ghz running MIUI with tk glitch kernel.
was amazingly fast, but my phone got hot quick, i dont like OC'ing i feel it may do more harm than good in the long run.
others may and will disagree but thats my opinion on it
Mine with 1.3GHz OC and some Undervolt is perfectly stable.....

Agree with the chef ...
Although I can overclock to 1540MHz it does get hot and Im sure it will do damage in time ..
1300MHz is a great overclock ...
It will be interesting to see what my SGS 2 can be safely overclocked to
1.2 GHz seems ok for me - with UV
Doesn't really get hot.
Running mine @ 1440 MHz with MIUI but i think I can go higher if I want . I have the 8 GB version
1.3 and very stable and with great performance both q score caffiene mark and in daily use
Which voltage are you using?
Mine seems to freeze on voltages above the 1.3V,
above the 1.2 GHZ always freezes. I,m using darkeys 9.5 Rom.
someone some advice which rom is the best for OC, (just for benchmarking) for once.

Mine can handle up to 1.3-1.4ghz
Im getting stable speeds of 1.7ghz. Im on watercooling though..

1.4ghz is my max for full stability. 1.5ghz works fine (no reboots), but the CPU occasionally gives an invalid result during calculations, e.g. during benchmarks like linpack, results can sometimes be inaccurate; 1.44ghz also seemed to work, but I picked 1.4ghz max for longevity/reliability.
UV Values are:
100mhz - 200mV UV (750mV)
200mhz - 150mV UV (800mV)
400mhz - 100mV UV (950mV)
800mhz - 75mV UV (1125mV)
1ghz - 50mV UV (1200mV)
1.2ghz - 50mV UV (1300mV)
1.3ghz - 0mv UV (1400mV)
1.4ghz - 50mV UV (1400mV)
Max UV were found by starting from 100mhz Max frequency, decreasing UV until stable for 5 minutes of software decoding of 720p MKV, and then increasing Max frequency one step. Occasionally the previous step UV needed to be decreased by 25mV to obtain a stability at the next frequency step.

Mine is stable at 1.5 Ghz with a 200mv undervolt, but only if I select it as a single frequency.
For multiple frequencies, I was stable at 1.4Ghz on an earlier kernel, but it's slightly unstable now... I'll probably try tweaking the governor.
I'm on a i9000m using tk-glitch's V9D-VC and CM7 #11 build.
By the way, shouldn't this thread be in general?
I am on MIUI v3 and CM7_SGSMTD_platypus-kernel_20110522_r0_quorra-prer11_test4-r2 kernel.
I don't use undervolt settings and 1.2 Ghz is fine for me; above values generally don't work stable.
By the way, 1.2 ghz is almost enough for all games and operations, I did not run into that pushing apps for high oc's.
Regards.
1.44GHz, extremely smooth and stable!
Never seen an option to go above 1.54, but 1.54 works flawlessly so I've chosen 1.5 in the poll. (16gb i9000)
1.3-1.4 GHz tkglitch kernel Miui v3

It's not the ROm it's the KERNEL who can oc, i adviise using XAN, hardcore kernels in 2.2. or gto's ginger kernel at 2.3 they are stable and 1280 i guess it's the limit not to warm up
But a questin what send me an undervoltage config, to 1300 if the gpu games work for someone at 1300mhz

Question CPU after upgrade to stock ICS 4.0.4

I bought an used Optimus Speed 2X for a very good price in very good shape. Intention was to give it to my daughter, which I did, after upgrading to stock 4.04 using LG own utility. I got surprised, as while doing some testing with Antutu I got reported that 1) CPU is running @ 1.2 Ghz while I thought it was 1Ghz from read specs in several sites including LG's and 2) it surpasses my Galaxy Nexus score at same speed (while I normally use it OC @1.420 and it's faster with kernel tweeks)
Anyone knows if LG while upgrading to 4.04 "allows" that 1.2Ghz CPU speed or if eventually this phone is a last generation one with more CPU speed?

Yeah they had speed up the cpu for ics to 1.2ghz they also have a swap partion and a new boot loader.
although antutu would report the cpu at 1.2 when it was only 1.0 in early cm10.
I think the cutom roms for ics default to 1.0
