[Q] anyone know this process? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

there is a process that is using way more battery than anything and draining my phone. i am using cm 6.1
the process i found in spare parts partial wake usage... uid 10135
i cant for the life of me figure what this is...
i even Googled and still..... nothing.

I believe every phone assigns uids uniquely. You'd have to find an app that tells you what apps are running and their uid

What's the difference between "uid" & "pid"? Auto mem killer tells you the pid....don't know if that helps.

Been a while since I ran CM6, so I can't remember if this is a feature of android,
or a feature of Sense UI, but in "About Phone > Battery > Battery Use", it tells
what's been using the battery. I can't remember if that will show applications,
or just hardware that's consuming the battery. I'm sure that some of the task
killer applications will also tell you some detailed info about what processes are
running
hope that helps narrow it down.

[Q] Running processes question

Been having a battery drain problem lately when the phone is idle..so I was looking at the running processes. Anybody know what the following are, and if they are necessary?
-AABSyncService (process: com.smids)
-ICsService (process: com.android.samsung.IcsService)
No idea what they are but u can just terminate those processes and see what happens and have u cleared your battery stats via cwm cwm advanced features

I haven't cleared my battery stats. What is that "cwm advanced features"?
Did some online searching and found:
snsservice = security and system notifications
omaDRMconfig = protected media license checker.
Gtalk = google talk chat service
DMservice = device manager
AABSYNC = android address book sync
I read that you shouldn't stop these or your phone may act "flakey" And according to a March '10 Android Central article, any process that has "android" or the manufacturer's name in it, shouldn't be stopped.
Cwm clockwork mod o ..... if u don't have a custom rom or rom manager or root then u wont have this

Thanks for the info guys..
A random question to add to this topic..
What is it with Android and wanting to keep process running and even starting them back up again almost as soon as you kill them with a task killer?
I recently got a free task killer but I am not sure if it worth it if tasks just start back up on their own..
I hear Android is suppose to end processes if it doesn't see active use for awhile, true?

[Q] Any app which shows which app is eating battery?

HI Guys
I see some spikes in the current usage from battery pro but does not say why or which apps is using it.Is there some way to find it out?I know the battery use in settings. ut it does not count the widgets power draw and most applications.
Thanks
You could try CurrentWidget, it has a log function.
Thanks, yes it does have a log. However it does not tell whcih app was using the power, right?

closest ive come to such thing is Spare Parts or Spare Parts plus, which doesnt tell u the app but what consumed battery say :
Partial wake usage
or CPU
or network
other than that, ive read that Battery Monitor Widget & Process Monitor Widget were supposed to merge together at one point of day, to identify what process actually used mAH of battery but i think thats not done, yet
i could be wrong
PowerTutor gives some info on power usage by app
its simple to know about, use any application like taskmanager to view opened applications and see how many percent the processor is using to run it, more the percent is, more the battery will be consumed.
its not a final solution but you can consider it like a tip.
I use Drain-O-Meter. It lists top to bottom which apps are using the most battery.
Is drain o meter in the market? I can't see it

Could you please share the drainometer.apk?

I ended up uninstalling fb because I couldnt figure out how to shut it down. It was destroying my battery, usually draining it completely after around 5hrs.
Was this happening to anyone else?
I just go to Settings -> Applications -> Running services -> Click Facebook -> Stop UploadManager service.
You have to do this after every reboot but it's a temporary solution...
I was going to 'manage apps' --> 'running' ---> then force stopping it. but it'd keep turning itself back on
is your way doing soemthing different?

I have some clock widgets but all of them show wrong time? I found out a possible problem that an aggressive task killer may close the widget app so it shows a stop time. is it could be solved by using that build prob? I mean whether I could lock the clock widget app?

Just go to the apps section in settings and kill all running apps, see if that will help.

Yes there are in the playstore. But I would not recommend kill the apps or processes as they will harm the phone and ruin it's performance. I suggest just looking for the app that is causing the drain and delete it.

it's a background process initiated by google update service..
I have the same problem here since Google installed the Play Services update behind my back. I disabled the CacheUpdateService Service via System Tuner Pro abd prevented all wakelocks from the package via Per App Hacking. See if it works. Phone is now turned on for ten hours with 9 1/2 not in deep sleep due to the great Google update... Damn.
