hey guys,
i think that other threads have the same problem, but i tried all methods, but nothing helps.
The computer always show that no connection is between the mda compact 2 and the computer. the pda only display Serial or, if the usb cable is pluged in, USB.
But why does the computer does not realize the mda?
I tried it from windows xp and from windows 7. nothing.
Maybe i have the wrong drivers?
king regards,
niiine

Hi,
I'm trying to run an app on the Kaiser phone, but unfortunately it does not recognize phones unless they are configured as serial devices. Is there a way to configure the USB port on the Kaiser as a serial communication port? I tried punching in ##3424# but was unsuccessful. I also could not find a flag in the registry that allowed use of USB as a serial bus. Does any of you have the drivers that allows mapping the USB as a serial port in my computer?
Thank you,
SJ
Last time i checked
USB!=Serial
If you are trying to use the phone as a serial modem, then there are existing drivers for the HTC Modem.
Got it to connect as a serial modem
Hi,
I made some progress in this front. I got my Vista computer to recognize my phone as a HTC USB modem.
But when I start the wModem using Menu > Start and then on Vista goto Start > Connect to > HTC USB Modem it drops the WModem connection on the Kaiser. The Wmodem application closes and reappears after Vista has determined it is unable to connect to the modem.
Has anyone else seen this problem.
Thanks,
Shree
format C: and install XP should do the trick
usb cant emulate old serial == rs232 that few new pc's even have anymore
a usb to rs232 adaptor is required but those require the device using them
being able to be usb host and only flame and Athena support that
Hi
Whenever I try to connect the phone to my computer using USB, it simply gives the 'connected usb device' sound and after that nothing, it says the device cannot be recognized or, on a very rare occasion.. It works (2 times in the past 2 months). I tried numerous things, but nothing seems to work.. I just want it to show up as a Diskdrive, nothing more. I run Windows Vista Ultimate x64.
I just tried connecting to another computer with Windows XP. Without any problems, it recognized and installed it in a few seconds. So there's nothing wrong with the device itself or the cable.
Thanks in advance
For the last year I've had my Diamond, I've never had a problem (for the most part) connecting my diamond to my laptop via a USB cable.
But last night when I plugged in my USB cable into my Diamond, it said that it didn't recognize my USB device.
I blew it off thinking I just needed to reboot my computer. Turns out tonight after investigating, this is a common problem with Vista and USB's.
Anyone have a cure? I've read till my eyes bleed, I've done reboots, edited the registry, installed, reinstalled programs and drivers till I'm blue in the face.
Today I got my HD in and it won't connect either. Obviously I have a problem with my laptop but I need help.
Anyone?
Thanks,
Mark
did you try another USB-Cable? Maybe its broken or something
One of the reasons I don't use Vista
Put XP on it, but that would be an extreme solution maybe? Is there someone who has similar problems with Vista?
Thanks all but it looks like my USB connection is just dead at that connection.
I say that because it doesn't work when I switch cables nor devices, I get the same result.
Yet, when I use the USB connections on the other side of the computer, they work. Apparently that one USB connection died.
Thanks,
Mark
I'm running windows 7 x64, and Cyanogen's 3.9.7 and suddenly my computer stopped recognizing my phone, it didn't replace the driver with something else, when I plug my phone in it doesn't even communicate with the computer. There is no drop down to mount, and the computer doesn't even see it as being a connected device, I've tried USBDeview and it doesn't show up as being connected at all. I have no idea what to do. Help would be great.
Does it appear in Device Manager?

Nope, not at all.
Tried it with more then one usb cable? One of my cables went bad not too long ago... Also could try different usb port. If all else fails.. try it on the different computer just to rule out hardware issues. If it does not register on different PC then you may need to exchange you device...
Good luck
Hey guys I realy could do with some help here
When I connect my bran new x1 to my laptop (vista 32)
I get this message....
"One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows dose not recognize it for assistance in solving this problem click this message."
And then i get...
"This device has malfunctioned try reconnecting the device or replace it"
I sometimes had this problem on my last x1 but it worked after few reconnection's (my other usb devices allways work fine and so did my first 2 x1s). After trying over 40 times with different ports and different usb
Cables I assumed that it must be a problem with my laptop.
so I did a full destructive restore totally wiped everything off my laptop. Turned it back on and got a different message when I connected the phone.
"Windows mobile adapter has failed"
I typed this into google looking for a solution and found a few random forums that showed other people had had the same problem in Aug 14, 2008, March 17, 2008. a problem thats over a year old will have been fixed I thought. So ill have to wait for windows update to finnish.
After 16 hours of vista updating and resetting updating and resetting i plugged the x1 in and got this message
"usb devise not recognized. One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows dose not recognize it for assistance in solving this problem click this message."
And then i get...
"This device has malfunctioned try reconnecting the device or replace it"
iv updated all my drivers. iv tried Microsoft's fix it tool that scans your computer for errors and it came back with....
"No problems have been detected on your system."
Iv been on the tech guys website.
Iv tried different usb cables,
Istalling windows mobile device center makes no difference,
Iv even tried it on a different computer (running xp)
and still no joy! xp fails to find settings and asks for the cd that came with the device (I didnt get one with this phone (x1)so I used the one from the old phone(x1i) this didnt work and it also gave the option of searching for settings on the internet, this didnt work ither!
Surely theres something iv missed I cant have had 4 Sony Ericsson x1s and they've all been ****ed? each have had different problems. iv tried phoning Sony Ericsson support all they say is send it off for repair but how many times do I have to send these things off? its beyond a joke! I just want one that works!
Any help with my usb problem would be highly appreciated.
Is anybody els having the same problems?
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

Generic roms don't need to be HardSPL'd to flash via Micro SD method.
Download one of the generic roms and extract the nbh file (if it's an .exe use winrar to extract the file), rename kovsimg.nbh, whack it on the micro sd card and put the phone into boot loader mode (hold vol down and power when turning on).
Once you have flashed the generic rom, check to see if the usb connection works properly on this version before making any changes.
You should try and get your phone back to stock before sending it away for warranty repair.
You are using Vista, what did you expect lol?
i gave up trying to sync with vista on my laptop. i use xp and active sync.
wish you good luck bro
quite shocked when saw a screen break xperia, lol
I had a Motorola MPx220 which had this problem (I was using XP at the time), the socket on the phone motherboard had gone bad.
If XP is asking for drivers, you need to install ActiveSync first. If you've had 4 X1s and they haven't worked on your Vista computer it is probably your computer. Go back to the XP computer, install ActiveSync (download it off microsoft.com) and try again!
Vista does work with the X1. I think I'm not the only person who can testify to this. It is possible that your computer is not supplying enough power through the USB port- in this case you need to disable charging over a computer USB port on your phone.
have you tried other usb ports? i've had no problems. even on vista 64 or win7 64. i did had problems once, my pc didn't recognize my xperia, but it was to a faulty usb cable, maybe that's your problem too.
Check the settings on your phone. Settings, USB to PC, uncheck that checkbox under ActiveSync. Oh, and switch to Windows 7, bro.
Every now and then (say once every 3 months) I get over-zealous with adding USB ports to my laptop. It comes with two ports standard but I have another two through the use of a PCMCIA extension slot. Say I have a 2.5 HDD, 3.5 HDD, printer and wireless router connected at the same time, most of the ports go bonko.
Thats the source of the "One of the USB Devices has Malfunctioned" warnings. I think its just collectively, there is not enough power to run them efficiently at the same time. Changing USB ports or disconnecting some of the devices tend to work for me.

many great suggestions here! some things I havnt tryed yet and im glad to hear I can still flash roms. thanks guys ill let you know how i get on
Pretty sure it's a problem with WMDC caused by a windows update.
You have to delete the device, uninstall WMDC (fully) and reinstall. I'll see if I can find the instructions again.
EDIT:
Uninstall WMDC and WMDC driver update and reinstall the latest WMDC.
OR
Try:
1. Keep your device connected
2. Press START+r and enter "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotation marks).
3. Look under the "Network adapters" node for "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter". If this is not present, skip to step 4. Otherwise, right-click "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" and choose to "Uninstall"
4. Look under the "Mobile Devices" node for "Microsoft USB Sync". If this is not present, skip to step 5. Otherwise, right-click "Microsoft USB Sync" and choose to "Uninstall"
5. Disconnect and reconnect your device. Your device driver will re-install and Windows Mobile Device Center will launch.
Then:
6. restart your PC
7. uninstalling (make sure you click the box to remove associated software) both WMDC and WMDC driver update
7. install the latest WMDC 6.1 from link above.
8. restart your PC
