Hey guys!
I'm new to Android and how it all works.
here I have a Galaxy S I9000 on T-Mobile with 2.1
I wanted to upgrade to 2.2 and from what I've read on the forums I did the following:
downloaded Odin and .pit files (used odin 1.7, and pit file ending in 512)
then used for PDA file I9000UGJL2_homebinary_add_param.tar
plugged my phone in, went into download mode and started installing the 2.2 I guess.. and now is COMPLETELY DEAD!! won't turn on at all and I'm really frustrated. I removed the battery and the sd card and tried to boot it up few times ... but NOTHING!!!
please help!!!
You can try this, remove the battery then just press the buttons for download mode while its held down find a way to insert the battery back, this should give you back your download mode.
my phone doesn't have the 3 button thing... my home button is a touch button not a regular one.
Then do the combo keys required for your phone ( if any ) while the battery is removed and insert the battery while having it held down. Should have researched a lot before flashing with Odin.
Don't worry, the t-mobile version is pretty hard to brick
here is the correct forum for ur phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=708

is there an another option?
i'm pretty sure there is a way of forcing download mode, and then flashing a ROM using Odin.. not sure how though.. try googling it or asking around on forums.
Although, if you dropped your phone, and now its not working, there's a possibility of physical damage, and then you'l have to get it fixed.
The good news is that if you cant force download mode or recovery mode, and you cant turn the phone on, your dealer won't be able to tell what you were doing without forcing a flash or replacing hardware, so you're safe anyway.
But yeah, try forcing a flash using a bootloader.
EDIT: oh yeah, check this out. seems pretty scary, but hey, what the hell do you have to lose??

I have had this problem already. You need to force download mode by pressing three buttons and then with Odin reinstall the version you use to have you can find everything on this forum if you search a little. Success!

Stupid reply but: Tried pulling the battery out?
Anyways:
No download mode means buying/borrowing a jig.
Or you could try the hair dryer method but thats a bit risky.
If you cant to any of those you'll have to send it to Samsung. Just say you were updating to 2.2.1 with KIES and then when the update was finished, your phone wouldnt start.
If it fails starting in download mode remove the battery put it back and try again. If the telephone can boot to the galaxy screen. It can boot in download mode. It was tricky when i had the problem and it took me 2 hours until i manage to have it. In my telephone the trick was press menu first then on and volume down..

Note CAPTIVATE NOT SAMSUNG GALAXY S
Its a different system for download mode on a different phone .
Method remove battery replace hold down volume DOWN button and HOME button Now hold down POWER button .
When phone boots to splash screen let go of home and volume down followed by power button .
not work means you need the download mode recovery jig from the front pages .

Please help me..i have a samsung galaxy gt i9000 i tried to upgrade the version but i think i did download the wrong one using the odin.3.now its not rebooting even hard reset will not do and there is no recovery mode if i do vol up menu and power nothing happens.its almost 2 motnhs now and im here in dubai its very expensive going to service center and i really cannot afford it.its only showing the sasung gt i9000 and its flashing not even getting to samsung logo..please help.is using a 300 ohm usb jig will work in this? i dont wanna risk coz i risk this before..and gets me in trouble..please help..huhuhuhu.
try to remove battery wait two minutes and then try to go to download mode!
yes i did that mny times removing the battery coz you cannot turn of the mobile witout removing it..does not work like that
Just remove the Battery ...press vol down + home + power(on/off) simultaneously and insert the battery(don't release the keys when u r inserting the battery) ...you will get the download mode...and reflash a fresh copy of stock firmware again...good luck...
So I've acquired a AT&T Captivate. I tried to do a System update from froyo to gingerbread(I think...its been a few weeks since the process...)anyway...the power went out and now im left with what im fearing is a paper weight...I cant enter any mode (download, recovery etc) and the only button combo that works is the VOL+ and POWER pressed together for apx 10 seconds...a screen comes up displaying RST_STAT =0x1, PMIC_IRQ1=0x0, PMIC_IRQ2=0x0, PMIC_IRQ3=0x1 PMIC_IRQ4=0x00 PMIC _STATUS2=0x0...all in orange..This is off battery with no cable attached. Im kinda hoping this means that im not totally SOL and this can be fixed...can anyone point me towards a fix, ive looked around and cant find anything conclusive....
U just need a Jig to get into Download mode. Either make or buy one. Ur phone is recoverable, as it is not hard bricked.
Once u get into download mode, flash Stock i897ucKK4 GB 2.3.5 and continue from there.
