Android 2.0?

I just read a blog from the Android and Me widget, that said 2.0 was spotted. Have any of the ROM devs seen or heard anything about 2.0?

Giant eclair goodies are coming to the 'droid!

Anyone know what Eclair's bringing to the table?

A friend that works for google here where I live.. says its called "Zoom" which is what we know of as Eclair or Android 2.0
He has been using it on his G1 as an everyday ROM.. so with that said we can feel safe that it should work on our G1 nicely.
He won't let me try it out so I can't check it out myself..

From what I understand 2.0 is going to have a different UI and multitouch among other features. Also its good to note that I don't believe the dump we have from the sholes has the full 2.0 just yet. It is coming just not yet.

yeah it seems that the upcoming HTC Dragon is going to be known as the Zoom 2 or something and will be running Android 2.0. as of right now there's not much else known. so if eclair's 2.0, flan would be 3.0 or 2.5 right?

evidence is a good thing to have when your statement contradicts what everyone else is saying.

Eclair is no more Android 2.0 than Donut was Android 2.0.
However, neither is it 1.7.
Android versions are not given version numbers until //AFTER// release, folks!

and plus if you look at the eclair picture leaks, it does seem like it is a major update.

2.2 Froyo with Sense (Desire Port)

So the desire 2.2 sense rom is out now, i have been trying to port it to the nexus for the last few hours and no luck. anyone else working on this?

Can you post a link to where you found this port? Also a link to the kernel your using. Thanks.

im using djdroids froyo desire rom ported to the nexus shipping rom, still trying to figure out everything kernel and radio wise.

No you can't, eugene's kernel is only for 2.2.1 or 2.2

It's posts like this that cause new users to brick their phones. Luckly, most of us here in the Dev section have been around the block long enough to know off the bat what does and doesn't work.

the vibrant would need a vibrant 2.3 kernel source to make these intercompantible sgs kernels (such as deadhorse) for the vibrant to run 2.3 i9000 roms right?

I've already got something in the works. But can't really work on it till I get home and boot into linux. Yay for already having a AOSP build built.

there is something that i don't understand. Since when we can flash i9000 roms? with dead horse kernel can i flash ANY 2.2 or 2.2.1 i9000 rom?

He made it a couple of days ago, and it's compatiable with ANY(like you said) 2.2 or 2.2.1 firmware with the proper flash of modem(kb1), and kernel (dead horse)

Could the the kernel from CM7 work? That's a 2.3.2 kernel made for the Vibrant.....

Nope. We need a leak from Samsung. CM9 can't be finished without some additional drivers. But it'll come, so don't worry.

The thread is based on various leaked and cooked roms with ICS for the Desire HD for example or the Galaxy S2. But honestly Samsung promised ICS in march for us so its not that far away its only a months wait .
Compare that to LG for example........

Its anytime now

If they do what they did with Gingerbread, i guess only in the next year XD .

i have read an article that said they wil release ICS at the end of this year.
but i realy don't care, the dev's here are probably going to release ICS earlier and we have so much great custom roms here so i don't want to go back stock.

+1 and given that lg didn't do a very good job with gingerbread i think the best hopes we have are here by the members that are really trying to deliver a full working ics port.and i guess it would be even better than official half ported release from our beloved lg.

And when LG releases their official ICS for the OB we probably won't have an OB anymore

Yep, its true, but im pretty sure we will get some ics roms based, i dont mean theme, i mean ICS based, so just wait

Just wait a little more (maybe 2-3 months) before getting a "stable" ICS rom ported by our amazing devs! The development progress of the rom is super quick! Yesterday it was just released and now it's already at alpha 4! At this rate ICS will be for very soon, definitely sooner than LG's ICS lol.

Be patient, keep test the rom, track the bug list, if you found new bug, report to the dev
