i ran into something like this yesterday, i just popped the card out and put it back in, seemed to fix it...

I tried it a number of times. I uninstalled the adb composite drivers seemed to had worked but then it stooped working. It was working when I first updated the drivers the first time.

yep
Confirmed... I am having this problem as well after rooting device.

I just noticed the same today
Is there solution to this ?

An obvious thing, but important. Your NC needs to be on and unlocked for it to recognize as external storage, but it only needs to be plugged in for adb access.
If this is already the case, try going into device management and uninstalling (but not deleting) the Android Phone or Android ADB Device or whatever the entry is called. Scan for changes again. It should show up as external storage now. If you need adb access again, you can simply install the driver using the usual method.
I had to repeat this once or twice, but my NC always shows up as external storage in Explorer now. I think this is what fixed it (maybe + a couple reboots)

When I go to device manager there is no Android Phone or Android ADB Device listed
The only strange thing is that under Portable devices I get I: drive with yellow triangle.

Working Angry Birds fix (tested on TnT Lite, may work elsewhere)

Credit goes to deis, who found this fix first. Again, I am just passing it on and packaging it for everyone.
As always, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. This is an OpenGL driver change and could cause system instability. Limited testing has shown no issues so far, but YMMV.

This is an update.zip with a recovery command file. You would run this the same way you would run any firmware update (for cwm users, just extract and place the update.zip anywhere on /sdcard - for non-cwm users, you need to drop update.zip on the root of /sdcard and the recovery folder there as well, and run recovery). After reboot, give the system a minute or so to stabilize.
Also, to install Angry Birds (on TnT Lite), mount /sdcard to your PC (so it's no longer accessable to Android) and then sideload Angry Birds or install it from the Market. It should install. EDIT: Here's a trick to do that, if you have the Marketplace working via the cache / Titanium Backup hack:
1. Go into Settings -- Storage and unmount the SD card.
2. Go into the Marketplace and install Angry Birds. It should be successful.
3. Go back into Settings -- Storage and re-mount the SD card.
4. Enjoy AB and all the hours of time you will waste playing it.
If anyone has any major problems with this change, please PM me and I'll update this post with a backout update.zip. Essentially, this fix is one file that was taken from the latest Nvidia development kit.
EDIT: This fix has been integrated into TnT Lite 2.00.
People are going to love you man.
Okay so. When I try to install from market, I get download unsuccessful. When I try to sideload, it says Application not installed. And I don't know how to sideload when SD is unmounted. Suggestions?

Got it to install by plugging into my computer turning USB storage on then inststalling from market. But no video on zpad
Double post
Installed update (zpad 1.X). Update applied fine, but when going to market I get an error stating there isn't enough room (settings showing SD Card Not mOunted), and Internal phone storage at 3.37GB

Yes, good point on sideloading. I use "adb install" and that worked for me, and I used the Marketplace as well. I guess you could also use Dropbox as a solution?
cannot get this to work on zpad, i flashed the fix in cwm but ab will not install. can anyone confirm it works on zpad?
Saved for future reference. I actually was able to install from the market and play just fine, but this is good to now in case anything goes wrong.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Installed fine in Zpad but no video.

I can confirm it works on zpad. You must mount your sdcard to your computer or ab will not install.

When you say mount to pc.....that is to turn off debug and enable sd to pc correct? Then when you say side load, what does that mean? Sorry for dumb question...only way i have been able to load AB is with adb install which i dont think works when you enable pc to sd setting. Thanks

ok, i've just been having trouble getting things to install from the market lately and i can't loading it from the sd while its mounted to pc. so i gues my only other choice is to load via adb but i have been unsuccesfull writing to anywhere but root of sd with adb(in tnt at least)

There are two problems with AB - getting it to install and getting it to run with full video.
This is exactly how I got Angry Birds to install, on TnT Lite:
- Download the 1.4.2 pk from anywhere, ie. from getjar.
- Setup the Android SDK so I can use ADB.
- boot up the device, connect to USB and enable USB debugging (so that ADB will function).
- mount the storage to my PC (this is the critical part - if you don't do this you can't install the app). This disables /sdcard from being visible in Android.
- run "adb install Angry_Birds_v1.4.2.apk" to install the app.
Now some of you probably don't have ADB - in that case, I would recommend trying to use the Marketplace, possibly Dropbox or maybe even copy the file via root explorer to some other location than /sdcard and then run it there. You have a few options.
The fix I posted assumes that you already have Angry Birds installed, and you are having the "no video, only sound" issue. This fix should correct the video problem.
Btw, I really hate this game.
Thank you
I have AngryBirds working on stock Now
also says installed on market

ok... got it installed... using this method... But after the first "round" when it ends, it aborts instead of going to the next round.
I am running full vanilla.
I did the open gl zip update, then connect to usb, mounted sd, enabled debug and loaded it via adb.
Also had loaded it several times from root explorer before I did it this way. But in any case, it still aborts after first game
Tried clearing davlic cache... no difference...
works- Thanks guys!

No ..I mean like the very first round with the red birds and one pig....after it tallys the score instead of advancing to the next game, it aborts and returns to gtablet hopme screen. It is as if it is not able to "Save" that first score somewhere, and it then closes....what a tease this was!

USB Mount Problem after fully rooted.

I fully rooted my NC and installed a number of apps that work but now my NC wount mount to my computer as separate flash drives. How can i fix this problem? Did i do something wrong? Ill appreciate the help.
Funny, I just realized this happened on my NookColor as well - just got to the bottom of it though.
Somehow, my Windows box was recognizing the Android Composite ADB device twice, and this was somehow nuking the usb-storage mode. The fix was simple:
Make sure adb shell isn't running
Go into device manager, and uninstall both instances of "Android Composite ADB Interface" - I deleted the device drivers to be sure (Windows 7 option)
Unplug NookColor from USB
Plug it back in after a few seconds. Let Device manager do its thing. For me, it fails and gives me the 'Drivers not installed' caution symbol next to the "Nook" entry in the Device manager.
Rightclick on the Nook entry in Device Manager, then select 'update drivers.' Point it back at the original USB drivers that you used while rooting when prompted.
Wait for the system to do its thing, installing all the drivers - takes a good minute or so. Drives appear in your Explorer
(I had to unplug and replug before the computer would actually let me access CONTENT on the Nook and the SDcard - your experience may vary.)
Or you could just use adb to push/pull files.
You could - but I find it easier when my media directory (for instance) is just mounted as part of explorer.
Mine does the same thing. Tried your solution and it still don't work?
Plumbergeek -- I have found that sometimes the last installed APK (application) causes this fuss. Uninstall the last thing you added, reboot and try again. Sometimes I have to go back several applications to find the culprit. Once the offending APK is identified I then try to find an alternative application to install.
If you don't know how to uninstall applications, search the threads ... the answers are here. You can also install an application called Quick Uninstall. This app, though, usually will not delete/uninstall system applications.
Hope this helps!

Well, the last one was Auto Config Script so I'll just wipe it and start over.
I have the same problem and can't figure out how to fix this
Both drives are listed in Device manager as B&N Ebook USB Disk storage
but the won't mount in windows.
When connected to PC that wasn't use to root it driver installation will fail
and there is Unknow device listed in Device manager (Nook) and two B&N USB Drives
but they will not mount as well.
Did anyone found what causes this ?
Thanks
Never mind, got it,
you have to push the n button to get it in to USB mode.

That's strange... i've never heard of anyone having to do that before...
Anyone else need to do this to mount?
I've always had to unlock mine to get it to mount in Windows. I just thought that was normal... is it not?
Sent from my Nooted friend...
I was going crazy unable to mount the storage and this did it for me
I have no-lock installed so unlocking wasn't the problem for me.
This didn't help. I can't even find those in Device manager
I'm also stuck with this problem. I am on Linux and can see two drives listed as B&N Ebook Disk, with all the other properties "unknown". I can neither open the drives nor connect to them with adb. It says that there is no device connected when I try to connect with adb.
This problem only started after installing Honeycomb. I was able to connect to the device through USB just fine when I was on a normal-but-nooted os.
Drive letters appear in explorer, but still can't write to them
Hi, I have a variation on the problem... My ADB install is confirmed (via cmd line) and I have two new drive letters appear (I guess it's one for the nook's internal memory, the other for the micro SD card). However, when I try clicking on either letter, Windows pops up an error message saying "please insert card". If it helps, my device list ID's the nook as a "composite USB device", not as a "nook"... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

[Q] HELP Getting Samsung Captivate to Mount...will not mount no matter what I do

Ok, I've had this phone for 2 months now. It's the 2.1 Eclair. It used to mount just fine, but now all it does is charge the phone when I attach the usb to the computer. I've eliminated the cord as the issue since my mom's captivate mounts just fine with it. I thought it was originally my computer, which is now Windows 7, but again my moms' captivate mounts just fine. It also won't mount to my other computer running XP. I've installed and uninstalled every samsung driver available but I still cant' get it mounted in either debugging mode or nondebugging mode. I also thought it might be a software issue since I had rooted the phone so I unrooted and did a hard reset. Still no mount! I want to get mounted, and not just by my wife!
At this point I would be happy to simply load apps via the sd card but I can't seem to successfully edit the settings.db file, either. Any help with mounting the phone or simply being able to load nonmarket apps via the sd card would be much appreciated.
Alternatively, here's a question to those much smarter than I. If I can't get the phone to mount via usb cable, how can you install a rom or nonmarket apps without attaching the usb cable?
Thanks!!
1. you can try to download a rom via wifi using internet browser. it will be stored in your \sdcard\download folder. also you need to download update.zip into your sdcard root folder.
2. shut down your phone and reboot into recovery, load the new recovery. (you may need to load twice)
3. flash the new rom by installing the zip file in your download folder.
sounds like it could be an driver prb i had same thing i belive went 2 samsung and got drivers reinstalled and phone mounted 2 pc with no troubles
I believe I found the issue.
Disable auto-sync.
Settings > Accounts and Sync > Deselect the auto-sync option.
My wifes phone had never been able to connect and mount via computer on the cable to the PC. Different PCs, different cables, everything. My phone always worked. First thing I ever did when reinstalling a new ROM was disable auto-sync. Soon as I disabled her auto-sync, the option to mount came right up.
Hope this helped.

*edit* I spoke too soon. Exchanging the phone tomorrow. It has other issues too...

Installing downloaded apks with easy installer from marketplace

i got tired of trying to get adb working so i did a search for installers on the marketplace and installed easy installer.
i copied some apps to my sd card and when i ran it, it gave me an error message that downloaded apps could not be installed.
i think i also turned usb debugging on and later off, but the short story is that i am able to install directly from my sd card without adb
ps - i also installed astro file manager and super box, but not sure if these had any effect because i later uninstalled them
enjoy

ADB Wireless is a great workaround as is Samba Filesharing.

Version 2.1 gives reproducible blue screens with Win7 x64 SP1 at the first link when I confirm the superuser, or in further tries, when connect the USB cable.
Only uninstalling the apk helps to solve the problem.
A little off topic:
After UMS_mode.apk does not work for me, here is another way to access both memory cards in the P880 (and any other Android-Device) from Windows OS:
Install Total Commander (Shareware): http://www.ghisler.com
Install Total Commander Plugin "Android ADB" (Freeware): http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/android_adb.html
Android device driver has to be installed too!
Through links, both SD-Cards appear with 3 differen pathes in the P880 operating system.
The external SD-Card has its mount point in (!) the internal SD-card:
Code:
Internal SD-Card:
\\\ADB\LG-P880\data\media\
\\\ADB\LG-P880\mnt\sdcard\
\\\ADB\LG-P880\sdcard\
2. external SD-Card:

Wow!
This is the greatest thing created for this phone so far.
MTP is painfully slow, doesn't work with cars/stereos/etc, requires installing drivers everywhere I go, crashes all the time, doesn't allow access with a file path, and somehow caused my sd card to wipe itself three times in two weeks, so this was a major issue for me that was making me regret buying the phone.
Initially after installing this app (v3.0), I had to repeatedly toggle UMS/MTP mode and plug/unplug my phone from the computer several times before it finally started working, but now it's perfect.
If you have a paypal or flattr link, and I'll send something your way. Or put it on the Play Store so I can buy it and update
Thanks!

I can not confirm unfortunately.
I wanted to give the app still a second chance and have installed 3.0.
Then I restarted the phone, without starting the APP before.
Now it hangs on startup LG boot logo.
Even without the second SD card the same problem.
Any idea without factory reset or flashing KDZ?
My phone is still stuck in boot, but I have an access via adb shell to system.
Unfortunately I have no permission to access "/data"
Could anyone tell me the aplication name of this UMS-Tool under "/data/data" ?
I only found "com.noshufou.android.su" in classes.dex, but don't know wether this is right:
Code:
[email protected]:/data $ run-as com.noshufou.android.su
run-as com.noshufou.android.su
run-as: Package 'com.noshufou.android.su' is unknown
[email protected]:/data $
Ok, I guess it's not quite working perfectly for me now that I've used it a bit more, but I still love it.
1) it's really tricky to get it working initially. I almost always have to toggle it multiple times and sometimes reconnect the usb cable.
2) like someone else mentioned, it never remounts the SD card so I have to restart the phone to get it working again after I'm done.
I have not had any problems on boot like BudCord.
I'm running stock firmware 10f.
Anyone have v3 hosted any where else? I can't download from media fire.. no captcha support..
Tried stock browser, dolphin, and chrome..
Any chance to get it working on mac os x (10.6.8) ?
For the moment it is the only default i found with this phone : the lack of "connections" with Apple's OS :/
PS : I searched on the web and I found a solution for Mac OS X users : Android File Transfer (on the official website).
Sorry I can not the url because I am new on this forum.
