Shutdown Animation: Android Scribble - Captivate Themes and Apps

I've made a shutdown animation based off the Android Scribble Boot Animation. It's simply that animation played backwards. I originally made this for myself but I thought some of you guys might like it, so here it is.
Flash through ClockworkMod Recovery.

Sorry I don't know how to make a preview for you, but it's the Second Version:Without Flares.
I tested it on Perception Build 8, but should work on other roms.

What file do you replace with it?
I know for boot up it is /system/media/bootanimation.zip...

Just flash it in clockwork recovery.
It replaces the files in /system/media/video/shutdown

Did you compile this correctly? I can't seem to install it in CWM. Even when I try to open it in windows 7 I get an error. "! C:\Users\Neekster777\Documents\My Dropbox\Android\scribbleshutdown.zip: Unexpected end of archive"

hmm... try re-downloading

The shutdown.cfg needs to be changed to 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, instead of 12345678910.
Otherwise it started flashing and doing all sorts of crazy things at the start of it.

working on axura! Hung first boot at unlock screen. Simple battery pull and everything has been golden since!
Oh and make sure you change the .cfg file as stated above.

I redownloaded it and it's working beautifully!!!! Nice job bryman!!! I always hated the stock galaxy s animation.

ZIP file is packaged incorrectly. Other than that it seems to work fine. Good job.

This isnt for a computer or winmo....This is android forum so you cant ask q's like these....You cant use this for windows...The gif is way to small and win have to use a certain format for bootup images...

I just tried to flash through metamorph its saying that it doesn't have a certain file for ot to be flashed through metamorph
Yeah I tried it and I get the samething.
The theme control file exists in the .ZIP, but Metamorph isn't picking it up. Even if I place the .THM file and .ZIP in the AndroidThemes folder on my SD... NO WORKIE!
how to get this to work in metamorph:
1) After u download this file to ur SD, use a file manager such as EStrongs Filemanager.
2) Find the .zip file that you just previously downloaded, click and choose to unzip/extract it.
3) Find the new folder u just extracted to and open it.
4) U will c 2 folders. Delete the Mac one & copy the other to AndroidThemes (located in the root of SD card).
5) Open Metamorph, click Open Existing, find the folder again and then then .thm file.
well... I got this to work, but must say that the image quality is really poor. It looks sorta 8-Bit on my MT3G...
are there any other boot animations available for metamorph?

good thing i created a back-up before i applied this piece. . theres a hidden (no data) file that screws up the entire sytem. . wipes all critical files and everything is FC. . plus the image quality sucks !

No Boot Animation?

Somehow my Boot Animation disappeared? I'm running sense virus rom. I deleted all my boot animation. zips to try to get everything off the device and then I downloaded the stock animation and put it in the media file and the system custom resource file and it goes to my splash screen, then goes black, and then the phone comes on. Any idea how to fix this so I don't have just a black boot animation? Is there a stock boot animation around? What are the steps to properly installing it?
Didu name it right? Some have to b VZW_bootanimation. Others just bootanimation

Downloaded it and renamed it bootanimation.zip then copied it from my SD card in root explorer and placed it into my system/customize/resource folder along with my system/media folder.
Restarted my phone. Got my splash screen, then screen went black. No animation.
Then I tried it using VZW_Bootanimation.zip
No luck. WTF!!!!!

have stock virus animation but too big to uplaod.......virus bootanimation is a bit dif from stock
Extract all the files from the zip on your CPU.....hilight all the files and right click, select archive, when the window appears select zip, and from the drop menu select store....mine was doing this also if I just zip it.....hope this isn't too confusing

Cant Change Boot Animation

Im attempting to add a custom boot animation to my OPO and I am having a lot of trouble. I searched around and all the threads basically say to put the zip file into system/media for CM roms. My current boot animation comes from a theme pack. I went into themes and unchecked boot animation before adding the new one. Even after adding the new one the animation from the theme is still there. I then swapped to the default theme, and im still getting the same result. I tried using data/local just incase, and got the same result. Do you have any idea what im doing wrong?
You may have a flashable zip as opposed to one you just simply put in the /system/media folder. What did the op recommend for install. I don't know what bootanimation you have.

I have the files for a flashable zip as well as a bootanimation.zip meant to be put directly into the system. The post provided both methods. I tried the flash through TWRP and it failed. As stated above I put the bootanimation.zip into system/media and nothing happens. I even tried it in data/local (had to create the local folder) and still nothing.

Can you throw me a link to which one you are trying to use? Also, what are you running? Cm11s, aosp, etc... You shouldn't have had to create the local folder under data, so best bet would have been the system/media folder.

Sure, thanks for the help. Here is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115717. Yes Im using CM11s, rooted but not otherwise modified. I thought the problem might have something to do with permissions, so I gave the zip file permission to read/write/execute. Now I am no longer seeing the custom nexus loadscreen from the theme i was using, but I am getting the factory OPO lockscreen.

On CM11s the spot for it is definitely in /system/media. Make sure to move the old one into a folder called old or rename it bootanimation.old. The permissions should be rw- r-- r--. But, if you still don't see it the files may not be formatted to fit the one plus screen.

Thanks for the help, it seems like there might be something going on with my phone. Now no boot animations work. Even the ones built into themes that worked before just show me the stock boot ani. Any ideas what went wrong?

Not really any ideas. I would just flash back to sick and start over. That way you know the system is fresh and nothing should stop it from working correctly. Losing data sucks, but you could run a rom like Calkulin stock 38r. Just wipe phone correctly and keep all the sdcard data. Minimal setup required after that. And then try out bootanimation right out if the gate.

I ended up doing this today just to get the 38r update. Boot animations from apk's work again. Still no luck with the one I was originally going after but Im still trying. Thanks for the input.

I've tried downloading a few boot animations from Theme Showcase, but no matter what I click (boot animations, fonts, wallpapers) it only shows me a list of themes to download. Is there any way to browse the boot animations form this app?
I'm using a OPO which is NOT rooted.

OP is for 551 version, are you sure you don't mean 550?
EDIT: Never mind, I looked through the files and saw they were 1080p versus OP's 820*520 pixels. Thanks.

4. Set permission to RW-r-r and reboot the phone... animation not showing in rebooting time only black screen appear and after 1 minute my phone get showing my home screen.

you need to flash it through recovery or extract the bootanimation file from the zip and do you processure
Can i flash in my 550ML?

I have tried to flash this file in recovery mode but I cant see where to select "install zip" as it was titled in Android on my Samsung S3 in recovery mode...
I have also tried to copy the file across using X-plore but am getting an error message regarding permissions...
Apologies if this seems simple to tech heads...am a middle aged dufus attempting to get used to this new phone...

U need custom recovery to flash.
Or u need to change permission if zip file if copy manually.

I was bored/ unemployed and decided to turn the nexus 6p commercial into a bootanimation.
Just replace your original from system/media ( make sure you keep the original in a safe place) change permission to rw-r--r--.

I flashed your zip file but it didn't change anything. I have been trying to flash a custom boot animation with audio for a few days and I can't seem to get it to stick. I've even used Rom Toolbox to flash but animations but all that I've achieved is actually losing my standard boot animation.
Can you please help?

Would you like the stock boot back? ( ALWAYS KEEP IT IN A SAFE PLACE) I'll post it below . I just noticed theres an Error in the flashable.Zip. (To add sound to your bootanimation you must save an .ogg file in the same folder and code it into the animation) .Use root explorer to replace whatever boot animation you have in the SYSTEM>MEDIA folder and edit permission to rwxr--r--

Ate you setting the right permissions? Rwxr--r-- and if that isn't working try rw-r--r--

I hadn't thought about the permissions so I'll go check those out.

Yes permissions must be set in root explorer for the manual method to work. I will check yours out

after my initial research your png files in each folder must be consecutive i.e P1 000.png-070.png P2 071.png - 139.png Etc..... they must be consecutive. you started from zero in each Part. 70 .png per folder

If you send me your original image files ill compile them for you i just dont want to go back through and rename all your files since you already have them. ship it to me in one bulk folder
I've attached a zip file with all of the images. I renamed each one to be in exact numerical order starting at 000 and going in increments of 001.
I placed that zip file with the desc.txt file into system/media and set the permissions at 0744(rxwr--r--).
It still didn't work.... Is there a limit to how many images can be in one folder?
I attached the zip in question to this post so you can see.
