Hi there,
today i experienced an annoying issue for the 2nd time.
In normal standy use, my phone seems to lose the connection to my provider (if thats wrong, i mean the institution i bought my contract/sim card from).
It really wont reconnect, even if im going to flight mode and back. Only rebooting helps me with this...
It's showing the forbidden-sign in the top left corner, asks me whether i want to find phone networks. I do search for them and i find mine, but clicking it wont help me neither. It shows that the phone cant connect to the network.
For now, only rebooting helped, and it immediately recognized my standard network.
I don't think that it has something to do with signal quality - i am in Frankfurt central at the moment and generally connections of providers seem to be very good in signal quality right here.
regards.
It may be a sim-card problem...try other sims (if available) and if the problem seems to disappear, ask your network provider to change your sim. Usually, on contract, changing the sim card should be free.

I just did a speed test with a 100K file and look how bad the results were:
36kb/sec
2.367 latency
22.066 d/l
Please advise!
Them's GPRS speeds.
What signal do you have?
Does your network support HSDPA?
Even if they do, is it enabled on your contract?
Speeds are affected by an awful lot more things than just what phone you have.... like how busy your network is in the area you're in. the more people online, the lower the speed you'll get.
Seems to me, you may just have a GPRS signal.
crap! I'm just on hold calling Orange now, just upgraded my call-plan so maybe HSDPA has not been activated yet...?
Just spoke to Orange and they said that as my sim card was only activated yesterday at 5:30pm, it's possible that 3G is not yet working on my sim even though it shows up as activated on their system. So I need to wait until tonight, then test again...
Any other Orange users have this happen to this? How annoying.
it's fairly normal.
The sheer amount of systems that need to be updated to get everything working is staggering.
It took t-mobile 3 days to get everything working correctly on my SIM.
It's normal in the UK sadly, just be patient and it will come.
I just spoke to another guy from Orange and he said that it should have been transferred by now and that I need to take the battery whilst the phone is on to do a soft reset - I thought pressing the little red button did a soft reset? If this doesn't work he wants me to call back to configure the internet settings manually...
Anyway, I shall wait. Just to be sure, aside from 3g being enabled on the phone there is nothing much else to do is there? When I switched it on after the rom upgrade it detected Orange settings and said it configured accordingly. Sometimes the symbol says 3g, somtimes it says G.
Is there anything I can do/check in the meantime to make sure this is a network issue for sure?
Sorry if this is long-winded.
Just press the little red button for a soft reset. You could check Settings - Connections - Advanced Network, if HSDPA/HSUPA is enabled. And if you can find the Orange mobile internet settings online, you can check Settings - Connections - Connections, to see if your Diamond's mobile internet connection settings are correct. Else call back to configure them manually. Once you're properly connected you should see the 3G or H icon. After that you can compare your results here, if you want. Please remember that your actual speed depends on a few factors, including your Radio version.. Good luck!
Thank you both for your kind help.I shall take into all into consideration. In the meantime, I shall wait until tonight (when everything should have been transfered to my sim).

My N1 randomly loses the cellular network and I see the triangle with the exclamation mark in the notification area.
I am not sure it's relevant but my N1 (a refurb from HTC) does have a dodgy SIM card slot since I need to stuff a piece of paper on top of the SIM card in order for it to be registered. Still once that's done and the back is on, there is no problem.
Anyway I will look down at the phone and see that I have lost the network. If I go to Mobile Networks/Network Operators I get an error "Error Registering on Network" or words to that effect.
The only solution is for me to either switch to Flight Mode, switch back to online mode and redo the search. The various networks usually then appear and I can choose my home carrier. A reboot of the phone also works.
This suggests to me that it has nothing to do with the SIM slot and it must be some other issues. I am running an unrooted phone on 2.3.4.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks
I'm not sure but I think it is probably related I would call htc and see if they can take a look at it cause for one they should not have given you a phone with a faulty sim card slot and it probably brought along some other problems.
Its kind of hard to explain, I have reasonable signal at home but its like sometime it can't find my network at sits at no signal, if I manual scan it finds every network but my own, I have to restart the phone and all is fine again until I go into an area with no signal, the only way to get the signal back is a restart. Even when I do have signal however it can't be trusted either, late messages, missed calls etc, its almost like cell scanning or whatever just locks up
update ur baseband version to latest(i mean radio)

I had reception problems when I bought mine. They advised me to change my sim card since it was an old one.
Did that, reception got better.
Hi all,
I have bought a Htc One M7 handset recently and I have noticed time to time there are No Signals (Limited Service) on it. When I switch off/ switch on or if I turn on the Airplane mode and turn off again, the signals will restore. This is happening around 2 times per day and really annoying. Need to know whether this is a known issue for the model.. I still didn't change the SIM and check. Please help!!!!!
Thanks alot!

I have the same thing
To add some detail for diagnostics see below:
- I travel into London every day and sometimes when signal drops in the tunnels it will never pick back up again after leaving them whereas my old One X did not have this on the same journeys.
- It even dropped out mid call and came up with the sim card icon at the notification bar as if no card inserted (but no selectable notification) first time its happened to this extent.
- Do you have a 4G SIM/connection or are you on 3G like myself? I'm thinking perhaps its something to do with trying to pick up 4G instead and completely disregarding the 3G connection that is available.
- I have also noticed that ever since getting the handset its never had as good signal as my One X which was pretty much always full signal in my normal areas (home, work etc) This may just be the way the handset gauges the signal not the signal itself but something to note anyway.
I'm having the same issue here in the US. It's prolly my only complaint with my phone.

I'm also having this issue but more sever with an all-day no signal. After reboot, I gain signal and I can't make and receive calls.
Try to turn 4G off.

How does one do that? Having the same problem, both wifi AND mobile network drop off. Wifi comes back on its own after a few seconds, the mobile data connection often comes back (obviously if not on wifi away from home), but the mobile network stays as no signal and doesn't come back, unless I reboot or cycle aeroplane mode. I know there's some problems with touching antenna, but this is happening a lot in the car, when the phone is powered and sitting in a cradle.

To turn off 4G you go to Settings -> Mobile data -> Network mode and then select "3G / 2G"
don't know if it'll help though, but trying is worthwhile

Thanks. The problems seems to have gone with that change. Perhaps it is some system thing kicking me off the network because I don't have 4G on my contract and my phone was trying to get it.
Now, if you can just tell me why my lovely 3-4 bar indoors signal on EE has dropped to 0-1 outdoors (as they deny there is a problem)

Are you sure it's not just cosmetic? Try going into Settings->About->Network and see if the signal (dBm) is dropping.

I have it constantly on att - I have to turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to get my network back, I have tried different roms and updates and still the issue is across all roms.
Maybe try this: in your dialer type *#*#4636#*#*. Once the menu is opened, select Phone information, then scroll down to Set preffered network type and choose one of the options (im from Serbia, europe, and I usualy go with GSM auto (PRL)).
Issue with 3g only
Whenever I keep it on 3G, it drops signals for 2 to 7 seconds at random intervals. People often complain that when they call, they get a message that my phone is switched off.. I am probably gonna try another ROM and SIM to see if that helps before dumping this phone forever.
how to solve limited service or loosing service on htc one m7
Hello
it seems to be a hardware fault where the radio is not staying on higher band
it seems to be having issues on 2100 and all umts and hspda or lte networks
however switching back to 2 g can resolve this issue and phone ( hope so) will never lose signals or drop then again
i tried this and for me this works fine so far over 12 hours now no issue
give it a try and see this should work
setting>data>network>2g only
by this you wont have option to use fast internet though but at least you can phone can be used for voice calls messaging etc and also wifi too
I was on stock lolli pop and tried to flash cm12.1 but does not help sort the limited service issue
enjoy and leave your feedback
Edit:
some people cant find 2g in settins>mobile network>preferred network type> lte or 3g only, the solution is go to *#*#4636#*#* phone info>set preferred network type>gsm only( this will put your device into 2g mode)
hope this work
I'm not rooted, and have stock ROM. It's a SIM-Free HTC One. Connected to EE network in UK.
I've got a fairly new issue that I just noticed in the last week. My HTC One is my second phone so I don't use it as much, but I'm at a point where I want to get rid of it due to the following issues:
I can't make calls, it would sometimes connect but i can't hear anything. This doesn't seem to be a network issue as a user with an iPhone5 seems unaffected.
I can connect to my 5Ghz WiFi network, but not the 2.4Ghz one, it just saves the password but won't connect. I've also noticed if i disconnect from the 5Ghz network, restart phone, i can make calls and hear the other side.
Using Data network, it doesn't seem to want to load anything, it shows 5 bars HSDPA and either goes incredibly slowly or just doesn't load at all.
General performance issues, everything would become incredibly slow, stuttery and incredibly annoying to use. yesterday the device crashed and restarted.
Any ideas what I should do? Try a full reset (ugh...) or is the device faulty in some way and I should contact HTC Support?
go to the dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#*
choose phone info, scroll down to the only dropdown box and select the correct setting for your provider ( wcdma preferred if you don't have a 4G contract)
and then back button about 4 times and try it again
It seems to be the way it should be: GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. I was in France a week ago and it had serious issues roaming and data roaming, i had to change it to GSM/WCDMA auto or WCDMA only to make it work. and now back in UK, i set it to the same setting it used to be before I left.
On a side note, I have realised that EE is having data network issues in my area. I tried the SIM in another Galaxy S3 and it had difficulties loading websites, but, it COULD make calls without problems.
Also, no crashes as of today on the One, I still can't connect to my 2.4Ghz wifi router. Could the fact that I was using 5Ghz somehow messed something up inside the One?
