Help Needed with Rom Flash - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hi All,
I am having a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
I have been trying to flash a custom ROM onto my Milestone using RSDLite 4.6 and have have not been having any luck. I am currently using windows 7 x64 and when I put the phone into recovery mode and plug it into the computer I get a driver problem on my computer. Windows just says that it cannot find the driver for A853 and RSDLite never finds the phone.
I have downloaded all the drivers that I can find and installed them but no matter what I do it will not work.
Any advice on how to get RSDLite to work?
Thanks!

What ROM are you Flashing? You have to be in bootloader mode when using rsdlite.
If the Instructions for the ROM is to install via recovery, then you don't need rsdlite for that. if it's an update.zip, put it in OpenRecovery/Updates in your sd card. if it's a nandroid backup, it should be in nandroid/openrecovery.

Thanks for the advice, the ROM I have is a CellCom ROM from Israel. I have the SBF file for the ROM and I thought the correct way was to put the phone into recovery mode and then flash it via RSDLite. Am I missing something? All advice is appreciated!

Thanks for the help, I managed to get it working. Here is what I did.
1) Downloaded RSDLite 4.6
2) moved the SBF straight to the c:\ drive and not in any folder
3) opened RSDLite, and loaded the SBF
4) Connected phone -> this order is important apparently because it did not work when I connected the phone before loading the SBF
5) Clicked Start when I saw my phone show up.
Hope this helps other people.

[Q] Cant Flash Bootloader

Hello,
I got a A853 Milestone.
I would like to have miuiandroid on it.
I already rooted my phone (I got Superuser.)
In next step i tried to flash my boot loader (90.78).
I made it with rsd lite 4.6 -> Success.
So i tried to install an unsigned update.zip (miuiandroid ->For Milestone)
It wont work my loader tells mit it is an unsigned rom so he wont be able to install it.
i flashed my bootloader again with an .sbf from an different source. same result. rsd told me that he flashed it but i cant instal miui.
i tried it with an third loader. same result.
now i cant even press start in rsd lite. and i don't know why. he is recognizing my phone but i am not getting any file properties.
what am i doing wrong?
i am looking forward to your answers.

The greyed out start button in RSD is because the filename is too long. Try renaming the sbf to a.sbf or something.
Have you flashed the Vulnerable Recovery for Milestone? After that you need to install OpenRecovery then you can try applying MIUI.

Alright, flash the VR from android.doshaska.net/rootable
Make sure to backup everythng you want to save (apps, etc)
Then get OR, place MIUI in OpenRecovery/updates, enter OR, do a Nandroid, full wipe of data and both caches, apply MIUI, wipe caches, apply baseband and reboot.

You can't flash the bootloader because it's locked.
How are you trying to flash the ROM?

Once the VR is installed, you just go into OR by turning the phone off, holding Power+x and then camera+ vol up when you see the Motorola Logo.

-Put Phone into bootloader mode(turn off, power button+d-pad up)
-Launch RSD Lite
-Rename SBF file to some one letter name.
-Browse to SBF
-Plug phone into computer
-Click start.
-If you get errors, look at this thread: http://androidforums.com/droid-all-...hing-process-0x7100-rsd-lite.html#post1274587
-Phone should reboot automatically, if not reboot into bootloader mode.
-Now take the OpenRecovery and update.zip from AOR 3.3 and put them on root of SD Card
-Place zip file of that ROM in OpenRecovery/updates on SD Card
-Boot into recovery mode (Power button+x/power+camera, camera+volUp)
-Use D-Pad to select apply update.zip
That gets you straight into AOR or OpenRecovery, with VR installed.
You made my day!
Thank u very much!
Its working finally!

Kind of bricked Droid 1

My friend from work came up to me today said his droid was messed up and asked me to fix it, im somewhat of an android aficionado, so i said sure, well i get it and he doesnt have a launcher installed basically i got it into recovery and restored it, and it still doesn't pop up with a launcher, now im coming from a samsung phone where odin can fix anything, im wondering if there is any such wonder tool for droid, or if someone can point me to an update.zip i can use to install a custom recovery to install a rom, cause ill just put a rooted stock rom on here for him, he doesn't care
i have found and am installing rsd lite, is this the odin like tool ive been looking for???
rsdlite fails to install the sbf file due to "unable to retrieve initialization files from INI file.

[Q] [REQUEST] Rogers Stock 2.2 files

Due to a series of unfortunate events, I ended up accidentally wiping my internal sd card. I don't know what the work around for this is, but I've searched for hours and can't find an answer. I have backed up my data to my laptop, but I had to send my laptop back to dell for repairs a week before. I got lazy and didn't back up the data to my desktop so now I am in big trouble.
I can still access download/recovery mode, but I can't odin to stock because I virtually have NO files on this phone apart from CWM folder.
I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to send me their system files whenever they flash back to stock, or if anyone has a work around for this.
Thanks.
uummmm what??
you dont need any files on your sdcard to flash in download mode. boot into download and flash to stock with odin...
you do have the drivers installed on the computer right?
here is the stock rogers odin package

[Q] Install CM for Galaxy S i9000 stuck

Hi All,
I've tried to find the answer but cannot see one specific to what I am experiencing.
I followed the guide from wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_galaxysmtd
Semaphore's ClockworkMod Recovery was not working so I used the file from Replicant's recovery.img as per instructions at bottom of the page.
I followed the instructions. I rooted the phone, but I'm stuck. I can get into the recovery mode but I cannot mount the phone back to the PC so I can put the CM zip file onto the sdcard.
As soon as I turn on the phone, it goes into the CM Recovery menu.
Anyone know how to get the phone to mount to the PC and how I can get a CM image to the phone to install?
Thanks, please help. Need to get this phone working as I want to give it to my daughter to use in Italy.

Thanks, but I figured it out late last night. In recovery mode, there is an option to turn on USB mode. With USB on, the PC will see the phone. I downloaded the CM image (zip) to install. Put this into the root folder. Also downloaded the correct Google App as described in the link and put this into the root of the phone.
Turn off the USB. Leave phone plugged into the pc. With recovery mode, select install zip and select the CM zip file you put onto the root. This will install the CM. It will do this twice to convert the phone file system.
Phone will boot up and your in with CM. Now turn off and boot phone into recovery mode again using 3 button method. Select the Google apps zip file to install. This will install the Google Play and other software. Reboot and setup the phone!
Got the Galaxy S i9000 working again!

Stuck in bootloop

So I was working on flashing this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408 and I got so far as using the tools in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2713954 to one click root and install twrp, made my nandroid back up, copied that to my computer, then flashed the 24a bootstack zip from xdabbeb's rom thread. the bootstack flash failed and now I do not know what to do next...its stuck in a bootloop at the lg logo.
I am able to get into the recovery and download mode if that helps.
please help!
Here is a bit more information about my situation:
Hi all,
Started by rooting with the one click method, then installed twrp via one click and moved the 4 zip files from this rom thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408 to my phone in preparation for flashing the new custom rom.
went to flash the 24abootstack.zip via twrp, that failed, so i tried to do the a recovery via twrp, and that did nothing.
after that i found out i was able to get into download mode still
the phone doesn't show up correctly in device manager which means I cannot makee sure it is on com port 41 before trying to use the lg flash tool to flash the tot file.
The phone shows up in the category 'Andorid Phone' and its called 'USB Modem Phone ADB port in the device manager.
I have deleted all the drivers and re installed them also.
Im going on a week and a half without my phone and i really need it back!!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do?
Whoever can get my phone up and going will receive a generous donation via paypal. There is just no way I can go another week without a phone!
If we need to use linux to fix this, I have Ubuntu 13.04 ready to go via bootable usb also.

I would do that, but like I said I cannot get the phone to show up correctly in device manager which means that I cannot make sure it is on COM PORT 41.
A big thank you goes out to bouchigo for helping me get my phone working again. All I had to do was adb sideload a new bootstack zip and rom zip and I was up and running.
