The Sony Ericsson Aspen Troubleshooting Thread – Calling all WM Masterminds! - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Specifications:
Unit: Sony Ericsson Aspen M1a (Different UMTS bands than those of the M1i)
Software ID: 1238-7064
Software Version: R1AB038
Customization ID: 1237 - 4794
Customization Version: R7A
Software Language: GENERIC_WWE
Content Version: PA6
Radio SW Version: 32.29.00.048
CE OS 5.2.3104 (Build 23104.5.3.4)
Major Cons:
Turn off backlight after 30 seconds turns off the screen completely. The X1 would go dim but the screen is still on. The Aspen turns off the screen. Maybe I got a lemon? Can any other Aspen users comment on this?
Incoming Calls: Unable to receive calls. The phone will be working just fine for days. Then suddenly, you receive one call, the phone and keypad will light up, but the home screen will not change to show the Caller ID/Actions screen. You will have to first reject the call, then go to the call register to see who called you and call them back. You can still make calls, but you can never receive any on any of the installed panels once the problem appears. Only a Soft Reset can fix it until it happens again day(s) later.
Bluetooth issues: disconnections, static noise, stuck at connected to headset mode even if headset was turned off.
Tested & Running Smoothly:
Opera Mini 5
Opera Mobile 10
Garmin Mobile XT
Bug: Splash screen and main menu don’t cover the full screen. A thin strip of the home screen appears below the upper status bar (clock, battery, volume, signal). However, Map View doesn’t suffer from the same problem; i.e. it covers the whole screen.
SPB Backup (Free download available for Aspen phone at wap.sonyericsson.com/fun/)
All my previously purchased Marketplace applications for my dead X1i.
Windows Live Mobile Version 11.x
Bug: Hotmail Email checking from native messaging application doesn’t detect Wi-Fi connections. Solution: Sync Email via the Sync function built in the Windows Live application or sign into Windows Live Messenger Mobile before attempting to send/receive messages.
Skype Panel: Pulled from the website mentioned in 4, comes preloaded on M1i. Thanks for U.b.o.o.t for uploading the Cab file for me. Tested and running perfectly on the M1a. Panel based on Skype for Windows Mobile Version 3; SMS texting from Skype account to cell phone numbers is available.
On-the-Road Panel
Pros:
The panel now supports choosing any of the installed applications as the default Maps (Navigation) application.
Speedometer works without having to press the “track” button. In the X1 version of the panel you had to have an active track recording for the GPS section of the panel to display current speed. Kind of neat but also means that your GPS chip is powered on, which means more power consumption.
Cons:
Apparently, Night Mode is somehow bricked by the Power saving features of the Aspen. The phone turns the screen off after 30 seconds even if Night Mode is ON. It doesn’t, however, power off the device or send it to standby; i.e. you can wake up the screen by pressing any button not necessarily the Power button.
Playback is bricked! Player stops at the end of each track. Play/Pause button shows “Pause” graphic, as if the player is still playing, when the track reaches its end and player doesn’t move on to next track. Clicking next takes you to the next track but it will be stopped. You have to press play to start playing again. Disabling File System Caching, increasing cache size to max (8 Mb), deleting On-the-Road Panel cache files, soft reset, three Master resets and uninstall/reinstall don’t fix the problem.

hi, I think you have posted in X1. But I think it's ok because I can see that XDA don't have M1 forum.
I like M1 model. As usual SE phone, it's beautiful phone. But I'm just afraid SE will be creepy again like its previous WM phone so I cancel my idea of buying M1. Let me answer what I know to your questions.

To my experience in XPERIA, X2 has problems in its dialer. I don't know if it will be working in M1 but may I suggest you a dialer application? There's a plenty of dialer, i.e. Iconsoft PhonEx but it's paid. I think there're other dialers which is coming free. Maybe you can make a googling.
[*]Garmin Mobile XT
Bug: Splash screen and main menu don’t cover the full screen. A thin strip of the home screen appears below the upper status bar (clock, battery, volume, signal). However, Map View doesn’t suffer from the same problem; i.e. it covers the whole screen.

It is happened to all WM6.5.x, not only Aspen. Because the Garmin Xt (I suggest the 5.00) isn't designed to WM6.5.x but WM6.1 and WM6.5 which its taskbar is bigger than WM6.5. Solution maybe you can try other navigation applications. I haven't checked for TomTom or NaviGon.
[*]Windows Live Mobile Version 11.x

I suggest that is another SE problems, just like X2, the SlideView isn't working well. I can suggest you to remove the SlideView by deleting the files and registry manually. Or you may disable the SlideView from startup, if iy's about the same with X2, the registry location is HKLM/init --> look for launch199
tap it and delete the registry inside.

Thanks, ideas and more questions!
Hi Russell. Thank you for all the tips and solutions you offered.
As for why I posted in the X1 general forum, it's mainly because I was an X1 user until its Tx/Rx Power Amplifier chip died on me. I only use it as a PPC now. I thought the thread could be helpful for current M1 users on XDA (and they are growing in number) as well as for X1/X2 users who are considering a migration (I can't call it an upgrade really) or those of them who are just curious, since the software is identical.
Here is my reply to your solutions and suggestions:
The Incoming Call problem: It doesn't seem to happen if you're using the Sony Ericsson Panel! A good solution too will be disabling the XPERIA dialer on the M1 and using the default WM6.5.3 dialer. I will give it a try.
Garmin Mobile XT: Thanks for the explanation. I recently purchased Garmin City Navigator Maps for the Middle East and Northern Africa NT, investing US $100, to use them on my phone. The application itself is running flawlessly and has all the features that I need (trip computer, flight status, weather, etc...) so I will just keep it. A work around for the problem will be launching Garmin from the Sony Ericsson Panel. The black background will make the strip black and you will not notice any discontinuity. Using a black background on your Today screen won't hide the problem though; the text showing the date will still appear.
Did you notice that I was talking about the Music Player in the "On-the-Road" Panel and not Slideview? Slideview is working just fine on my phone. In fact it's perfect with no bugs whatsoever. It's the player found on the second tab on the "On-the-Road" Panel that is not working properly. I thought about this yesterday; maybe uninstalling Slideview will fix the problem, since the system is using it as the default media player. I have two suggestions regarding this issue:
A workaround will be using Slideview to play music. But then again, just like its elder sibling, The Media Xperiance Panel, Slideview doesn't recognise multi-disc albums; i.e. it doesn't play tracks from a multi-disc album in order. It plays one track from the first disc then one from the second then goes back to the first and so on (i.e. 1-01 > 2-01 > 1-02 > 2-02 >...... 1-n > 2-m) instead of playing disc 1 first (1-01 > 1-02 >.....> 1-n), then disc 2 (2-01 > 2-02 >.....> 2-m).
The player in "On-the-Road" Panel on my X1 recognised multi-disc albums and played them in order. I don't see any reason for SE developers changing the playback section of the code for the M1 version of the Panel. But then again, now that the Panel supports choosing any of the installed programs as the default Map application, there is a possibility that the code received a comprehensive overhaul.
Is there a way to force Windows Media Player as the default media player? A registry setting maybe?! Because I am guessing that the panel player is calling Slideview with a wrong parameter or a parameter that is only valid for Windows Media Player and that's what is causing the panel player to freeze at the end of every track? Or maybe it's still calling Windows Media Player but somehow Slideview has crippled it?

Hmmm, i don't realize that Garmin is that Expensive. I live in Indonesia and there're developer who offer the map of my country for free and I have the Garmin XT salvaged from my previous O2 XDA phone.
Sorry I might be confused about the SlideView because it's pretty long thread. For X2, yeah there is away to force the phone use WMP as default. All you need is disabling the SlideView from startup using registry, then use an application(s) like Resco File Explorer, SKTools and many other apps... and then set every multimedia files which is associated to SlideView, to WMP.

Aspen is very fast wm I ever use.

Skype panel cab?
Hi there. It is strange that my aspen does not come with skype panel loaded. Anyone has the cab for that? i try using X1 panel but does not work. Thanks!

Skype Panel for Sony Ericsson Aspen
Here is the Skype.cab installer for the Sony Ericsson Aspen Panel Enjoy!

Thanks a lot
WOW! thanks a lot melaskalany!!! do you have other useful panel such as facebook, tweeter, on the road etc? if yes it would finally complete my aspen! thanks a lot!

Hello,
can you pls upload on the road Panel cab, as my Aspen does not have it preloaded.....even tried using X1 panel but its of no use.
Thank you.

Sony Ericsson Aspen Touch Screen Problem
Does anyone knows how to solve this?. My Aspen's touchscreen is not working ,it does respond to touch but it only lights up the screen and things are not moving. Now i am using my keypad. Or are there any alternative if the screen cannot be repaired? like a keypad friendly UI or cursor controlled by the keypad?

Never yet had touchscreen problems although the touchscreen on the Aspen isn't the most responsive I've seen. I've heard there are quite a few problems with the Aspen, have you tried the SE tech support?
Anyone managed to install TCPMP on the Aspen? The old version I had which worked fine on 6.1 doen't want to work on Aspen's 6.5 and neither does the latest beta 0.74.

Can we expect a CFW for Aspen, they sony presented OS is so buggy. Please anyone having the skills please make it for Aspen. I'll be the tester if required.

My Aspen M1i is stuck on boot logo. after that only the backlight is on nothing else.

Unresolved Tilt Issues (Please Contribute)

Ongoing issues that need to be resolved - If you respond to any of these before you write any response PLEASE put the issue number at the top of your post, because this thread is going to get very large fast and this will help keep it somewhat organized, thanks.
#1: I have tried everything but can dump the time & battery icon off the title bar without alignment problems. Anybody find a key yet? Are we stuck creating new icon templates in black to save us from the alignment issue? Or has someone found a key to compensate the alingment loss from removing both time & battery status icons?
#2:Does Video Share work on the Tilt if you have an HTC ROM on it and are connecting with a Video Share enabled phone? (obviously this will only be applicable for people who live in the selected 3G networks for which Video Share is supported)
#3:When I make/recieve a call, and I try to access the top bar (start button) the top bar locks up. if I try a shortcut button to IE for example, IE loads but just says connecting... if I hangup the call, it redoes the 3G connection (it was 3G before I was on the call) and the IE works.
BUT the top bar is locked up. Start/3G icon, etc doesn't click. Only the "X" will work until I do a reboot.
#4
The "Buttons" setting only allows me to change the short press settings for 5 buttons. Elsewhere on this forum, there are instructions for adding the PTT button for both short press and long press, by adding registry keys 40C6 and 40C7. Can I add long press entries for other buttons?
Update!: According to HTC support, this is currently impossible. Sorry. (thanks deathace)
Update #2: Vito Button Mapper also enables push and hold functionality for the standard buttons (not PTT button) using the Start, Settings, Button Mapper. Also allows for customization of the soft buttons based on running application. Got to say that while Vito Button Mapper works, it's not that WM6 Pro friendly. In other words it works, but has some issues with icon display and uninstall. Hopefully HTC support will get their act together. (thanks Jim_R)
Update #3: Spb Pocket Plus 4.0.1 also allows for remapping of keys w/hold functionality, including PTT and works with WM6 (thanks _Alex_)
#5
Is there a way to choose radio frequency besides using Bandswitch? Meaning the setting would show up in the Phone Settings menu that allows Band Selection. Perhaps there are some registry edits out there?
Here is a cab file that replaces "PhoneSettings.Dll" with the one from the Rogers Canada Tilt Rom. and enables the Band Tab. You will be required to reset your phone after installation.
#6
There have been issues regarding connecting to WEP encrypted networks...if anyone else knows of these issues and a possible fix, please contribute...whitelisting the MAC address on the router has already been attempted (and failed).
This post has been moved and temporarily stickied.
Please be sure to visit the Wiki. Most of your questions can be answered there regarding the Tilt.
The previous thread, "The thread to address ALL TILT-specific questions" has been unstuck, but can still be used if required.
Have fun!
HTC steaming media seems to work on the TyTN II but not the tilt. of all the posts that I've read, and googled, only 1 person has said that their tilt works with streaming media is working, but not fully with every site, just a few. TCPMP with ytpocket seems to be the closest thing to a band aid. but this ony gets you youtube, not the other sites that work on a TyTN II with HTC SM.

Okay, Here's the deal. HTC streaming media is for RTSP files only. That means Pocket YouTube. Yes it works in the US, but you have to have the correct ID/User Agent for it to work correctly. Basically the Streaming Media Player is a license of Real Player. All stock Tilt have an EXE called Real.exe in windows directory. If you open it, it's the same as Streaming Media Player, Has the same Icon as Real Player, & the about screen calls it HTC Real Player.

errrrrr. If you flash the identical ROM on a TyTN II and a Tilt, how are the files in the windows directory any different?
I think you misread what I typed.
OK, after serching in many forums, i found that the problem is:
"When the device is protected by a password (Start/Settings/Lock), the start menu freezes after ending phone calls. In addition, the backlight turns off.
This only happens if the phone call is long enough (more than a few secs) for the display to turn off during the call. This is to prevent accidental button presses. When the phone call is ended the display should come back up, however, this is where bug seems to manifest itself. Somehow the password protection gets in the way and turns the display off and freezes the start menu.
The reason why this is serious (especially for business users) is that when you use MS exchange sync, many businesses enforce policies requiring a device password (common & recommended practice). This means that the option of turning the device password off does not exist. Therefore, using exchange sync (with security policies enforced) and making phone calls does not work."
So, acording to this, there are two solutions:
1º Sinple turn of pasword protection if you don't need it;
2º (found in modaco) Change a registry entry:
\HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastDormantDisplay DuringCall
From "1" to "0" will stop it but be warned if you arent using a headset then the touch sensitive screen will be in operation throughout the call so you may end up with your ear triggering applications etc...

Nasty Camera
My phone works ok I guess and I am pleased with it. But I miss not being able to take photos with it. I used my TYTN all the time primarily as a mobile video station and a camera. But this KAISER is a complete mess when it comes to taking photos.
My point is, can someone tell me how to turn off the auto focus is thats the problem or does anyone have any idea how to speed up the lens to capture time. It takes forever to set its focus. Oh, and don't start me on video capture as that IS the joke of the century.
I can't believe what a step back this KAISER is in comparison to its older brother the TYTN. I expected this phone to at least take a moderate picture. Why on earth is the 2nd camera better (VGA) than the 3MP main camera. It is completely crazy.
I digress and am off to cry now.
Hi all,
may I know if anyone had face this problem. Whenever we receive an SMS, it pops up as a notification at the bottom of the screen. But the notification normally have 2 options: Normally, reply/view on the left and menu on the right. For the left option, sometimes it is "reply" and sometimes it is "view". Is this normal? How can I change it to permanently as "view" only?
Thanks all in advance.

Hi eRic,
It is shown as "Reply" when your message fits the dialog box notification neatly. If it doesn't "View" is shown for you to read the full message. Hope this helps.
Hey, actually I have a problem synchronizing. I have been told that if a Kaiser is connected to a PC through Activesync, then the Kaiser could use the PC's Internet connection. And I think that is great, except mine won't. Instead my PC will try to use my Kaiser as a modem, even though it is already connected.... What can I do?

DoubleLauncher also includes similar functionality, but with even more options:
single tap, double tap, single hold, double hold, triple tap - 5 combinations per button - HTC may be right that it isn't possible with vanilla windows, but it is obviously possible to code something.
wifi vs AT&T
Sorry for asking a question that I am sure was already addressed (unfortunately I cannot find it).
How do I instruct my AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) to try to connect using WiFi when it is present rather then connect using AT&T GPRS, 3G whatever?
When I bought my phone in October, I got advice from Howard Forum to go to your site (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...22&d=1191864241) to get a cab file. I did that, and it worked.
I had to replace my phone which was defective, and now I wanted to get the same cab file for the new phone but the link no longer works.
Your advice and help will be very much appreciated. If you prefer you can send me a private message to [email protected].
upgrade??
I was this close to jumping from the 8525 to the 8925 but advised not too: ATT rep says there are software and hardware issues that they are working on with HTC and IT guys say they've had issues as well.
What's the consensus here? is it worth the risk or should I wait a while longer for things to iron out?

Well, the Video Rendering sucks. All in all though, I have to say I really like the device. It's okay out of the box, but after tinkering & tweaking I have to say that I'm glad I moved to the Kaiser. The GPS is solid for me & after changing my DNS settings to OpenDNS the internet is fast. I tether a lot & get great speed on my laptop (when in HSPDA or 3G). Yess, there are some issues, but I think it's the best device around. I've had no problems with my Tilt or my TYTN II. It works really well with our Blackberry server & I get my emails fater on my device than on my pc.
The only issue for me again is the video. But it's mostly a work device for me, so vide isn't a big deal. Besides TCPMP playback is good enough for catching up on my missed episodes of House MD.
I'd say go for it.
Hi all,
I wonder if this is even consider a problem or bug. At the Today screen, there will be times when you are overflow with schedules. Then a scroll bar will appear at the right most of the screen(as shown below left). The scroll bar stretch all the way from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. Is it possible to change it to such a way that the scroll bar starts from the bottom of the Today plug-in to the bottom of the screen(as shown bottom right). Please kindly advice if this can be done.
Thanx
Cheers
eRic
You can use HHC (home plug-in config) to lock the home plug in. Then the scroll is just at the bottom. There is a registry setting to do the same thing, but I don't know what it is. The HHC is a great utility as you can back up the plug in and change the fonts and icons too.
OpenDNS
GSLEON, where does one change DNS settings to the OpenDNS settings? Thanks.
What can I do???
Hello all,
I am on my second Tilt now (on AT&T network) but I am still having voice clarity issues. Very choppy conversations at times, even when connected to a landline, but there are always at least 2 signal bars & 3G displayed. I have tried to disable the data before making calls, but so far I have seen no improvement. Could Active sync have something to do W/ my problem? It always seems to be running. Also, I am using the stock AT&T rom.
Any input provided pertaining to my issue is greatly appreciated.

Summary Important Issues bout Diamond & Touchflo3D, [ UPDATED 17 June 2008 ]

First impression, EXTREMELY bad fingerprint magnet. I was expecting it to be like D810's fingerprint problem, but its much muh worse. However, the back cover seems to be a different kinda plastic glossy coating than D810, so i expect no peeling problems here.
Start up screen, after it install all necessary sys cabs, there's actually a short demo (video) on how to use the Touch interface. The old Touch didnt have that, justin writing in a manual..
The glass screen feels....like got some static attraction, so its totally not fun to scroll around with the finger. Well see how it is after putting on the screen protector
EDITED: Added Screenprotector, Touch feel is now MUCH better. Screenprotector is also of high quality. (thick and solid)
UPDATE on ICONS: Some games i insalled like Hexic and Warcraft 2, the icons in the start menu is totally screwed up, like, can see the shape of the icon, but not wat the icon is. It looks black and has strange lines. But not all games like this. Only some. I'm trying to figure out why. They're all meant for VGA. Hmm
Running the game once and performing a soft reset solves this problem.
UPDATE on TOUCH FLO 3D LAG: I've tried to mess around with Touch FLo 3D, see how much stress it can take. Handling it normally, placing my thumb at the bottom and moving it left to right, selecting what it want, and returning to the home screen, no problem at all. Now as you know besides sliding your thumb around, u can just CLICK it and what you want will appear. Example you're at TODAY screen, i click messages instead of susah go slide from TODAY to MESSAGES. Slight lag occurs when i do this (a tenth of a second? Probably loading time not really a "lag"). Now i tried ABUSING the system = Click on on messages, before messages load, i click Today, click Music, click Programs, click Internet, Click click click click. Basically i'm not letting ANYTHING load, just spamming clicks. A definite lag before what i last clicked finally appears on my screen (about 1- 1.5 seconds). Which is impressive, considering how i abused it like crazy. LOL. I honestly expected it to hang.
UPDATE ON MAPKING 2007: I have just tested it, and Mapking users will be glad to know that it supports the VGA screen on HTC Diamond, and GPS works flawlessly, despite worries that eGPS since its new, may not be recognized by Mapking
UPDATE ON CALL OF DUTY: Works absolutely awesome, NOT using minimal settings, i was able to play pretty well. NOTE: Tytn2 and Touch Cruise was NOT able to play due to heavy lag even with minimal settings. Game was perfectly fine, with except with just a small little, not lag, but looks like the rendering was a bit slow as i looked around, when i used hardkeys and stylus at the same time. NOTE: ALL pdas lag in gaming when using hardkeys and joystick at the same time. However, it was minimal, and call of duty was enjoyable to say the least. SO yes, it DOES have graphic accelerators. Proper benchmarks will be done when i have proper time.
UPDATE. SPB benchmark seems to hang. cant run it. hangs at testing word document.
UPDATE on Touch Flo 3D part 2: Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment...42&d=1202399126, thanks to schap, and customize File system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072. This gives drastic improvements in Touch Flo 3D.
UPDATE ON BATTERY REVIEW : I did this test, based on what a student (like me) would probably use. More sms than calls. Here's a rough estimate.
TOTAL HOURS BEFORE KONKING OUT TOTALLY = approximately 9 hours, give or take
TOTAL SMS-ES = 120
TOTAL TALK TIME = approximately 15-20 mins
TOTAL LIGHT GAMING TIME (Hexic) = 45 mins.
Its actually pretty impressive.
My verdict is that with backlight on "auto adjust" and with the dimlight dimming within seconds after not being used, there is a HUGE amount of power saving from running the VGA screen. Also, it could be possible that with its graphic accelerators, gaming also consumed less power than usual.
My Touch Cruise same amount of usage above lasted 11-12 hours
IMPORTANT UPDATE (regarding black icons): It appears that the cause of our ugly black icons is not our VGA screen, but Touch Flo 3D itself. Looks like its a bit buggy. So we'll have to wait for a proper rom update regarding it (or perhaps someone can come up with a registry fix). Don't believe me? switch off your Touch Flo 3D, and soft reset your PDA. All icons should turn back to normal. Also, with Touch Flo 3D off, you can expect better battery life, as well as a significant increase in speed for your pda.
UPDATE HTC Touch FLO 3D, another bug: There appears to be memory leak issues with Touch Flo 3D. The longer u use the less ram u'll appear to have. Will have to wait for rom update to fix all these bugs
My Blog : http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2008/06/htc-touch-diamond-user-review.html
IMPORTANT UPDATE (bluetooth stack problem): It appears that after using Bluetooth A2dp, your pda will have "vibration non stop" as well as phone totally mute problems. This is reported by other members in XDA. I'll run a check up on the latest 1.37 rom and see if this is fixed, as well as other issues. Stay tuned.
UPDATE ON ROM 1.37.707.1
Rom 1.37.707.1
BLACK ICONS PROBLEM: Unresolved <------- WTF MAN HTC!!
Bluetooth stack/mute problem : Pending testing
Memory Leak Issues: APPEARS SOLVED (doesnt go above 57% here, last time 70+%)
random problem where sms tone does not ring, but only rings when u wake up your phone, despite receiving it long before SOLVED. But device is still set not to wake up at incoming sms by default.
gimme 24 hours to test bluetooth stack/ sudden mute problem and memory leak issues
kudos on one of the few informative posts i have read on this new forum for touch diamond...
Nice summary.
Few questions.
1. COD - Can you please post your control settings here?
2. Do you know the actual registry change for changing the file system cache to 8mb and file system filter cache to 131072. I like to do this via registry. I couldnt find this info...
Thanks.

Nice summary Baronic, at least when i get my Diamond ill know what to look out for. Saying that, it could be that the UK spec Diamonds have been delayed because of these problems??. LAst i heard was that they were being held back because HTC wanted to apply a software update or something like that before they were released into the UK. Unless they are trying to stop us from hacking the phone ie cooked roms etc. I hope not or else i will be extremely angry as to why they would do such a thing.
@boinger, you're welcome
@Kraft, in COD there's a box to tick "low settings". I'm playing it with it unticked thats all. No other settings.
For reg edits, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
@Spawn, I've no idea about UK sets, as i'm from Malaysia. However, here, we've just had a rom update yesterday, and i'll be flashing it tomorrow, and see if the main problem: Black icon and memory leak, has been solved.
I'll be updating my Blog, as well as here probably once i flash the new rom. I'll have to come up with a summary on the roms as well soon, which roms have the Touch Flo 3D problems. My blog is in my signature

You already have a ROM update, did you find that on the HTC website in the HTC e-club? I just checked out the Hong KONG HTC region site and it has no ROM updates.
A question: doesn't the screen protector blur the display and therefore ruin the hi res of the device?
@save ferris, no, HTC doesnt seem to have the rom update, i'm going directly to the distributer for the rom update. though owners who bought their Touch DIamond today/yesterday would already have that update.
@pedmomd, no it doesnt blur the screen at all. its a clear screen protector

maybe i did not understand the problem....but:
1. i put some music to play with my coreplayer and bt headphones.
2. after a few minutes i asked my little girl to call me from my home phone. the music stopped, i pushed the headphones button and was able to have a conversation.
3. hanged-up the call and the music start playing again.
4. repeated twice. everything OK!
is this the right experiment for your problem???
kukiriku, u must use HTC Player only to duplicate the problem
Can we have a dump of that latest rom plz ?

aaaahaaa...i thought you are blaiming the a2dp....OK, i'll test the htc player.
great post dude..
one more bug is
when using audio booster, after a while/charging or phone call, music played would be bassless.
Ways to fix it is to plug the headset in, disable audio booster, unplug and replug in the headset.

Total Newbie to XDA - help with a few of problems please!!

Hi Guys
Im a total Newbie to XDA's... Just got the XDA Ignito, within minutes of reading some post on this site I followed the instructions and flashed my ROM, what a difference! o2's Rom is sh*te!!
Anyway just having a few problems that may be so simple for you guys but yet so annoying for me.
1. Contacts are displayed "Surname, Firstname" how can I change my contacts to display "Firstname, Surname" ??
2. When on the net via Opera, and go on a video site like metacafe... the videos do not display? do I need to install any plug ins? the built in youtube works fine.
3. I have installed tomtom, but when I make a phone call, then end the call tomtom appears.... Ive tested a phone call without it to my ear and this doesnt happen, I can only think that my ear is pressing start and selecting tomtom from the quick launch at the top.... anyway to stop this? without holding away from my ear
Any advice is most appreciated
Many Thanks
Adam
1 - i would like to know where that option is too, most my contacts i have manually told to display like that.
2 - Opera / all the mobile browsers i think (inc IE and safari) dont have a flash pluggin. So any web based movie sites using some flash video player wont work. Thus reason for standalone uTube app
3 - is tomtom the only app which has got launched, seems a bit odd if it's selecting only that app from the start menu. My phone's display goes into standy during phone calls, so buttons dont seem to get pressed. Also using Sensorlock too.
to 1.: When you edit an Contact (Outlook) at the 6th Position, there must be a line "Save as" - when you click on it, a Pull-Down appears, where you can choose the other appearence with swapped Surname and forename.
1 - in each contact, there is a field 'File as' where you can select whether to display last. first, or first, last. There's no option that i know of to do all of them simultaneously.
2 - Spot on about the flashplugin. Although i believe that flashlite 3 is supposed to work with FLV vidoes, but don't quote me on that....i don;t even know if it's been released for winmo yet.
3 - this should only happen if you have TomTom running in the background instead of totally shut down. when you've finished with TomTom, make sure you close it properly.
Thanks for all your responses.
In regards to the file as, i was refering to all my contacts on my sim card. Surely there is an option somewhere to change the view of contacts...??
Found out how to shut tomtom down properly, will test it shortly.
Thanks
There's a faster way to rearrange your contacts...
Here you go.
NoWorthWhile
Thanks for that, but unfortunately it didnt work... i put it in the storage, then run it from programs... selected the way i wanted them displayed, clicked change.. looks like its going to do it then nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Keep program (e.g. TT) maximised after standby

Hi all, searched the forum but couldn't find an answer to my problem.
Is there a way to keep programs maximised after you wake up the phone from standby/screenlock?
For example: I use TomTom a lot for short rides, so I get in and out of the car many times. So when I come back in the car, the phone is on screenlock/standby and when I wake up the phone TomTom is minimalised.
Can this be changed so it's always full screen, so I don't have to open it again in the task-manager?
To add on to this thread, is there a way to make a program "Always on Top"? I have bluetooth in my car, so I'd like my navigation program to stay on top while I answer my phone through my head unit.

That's indeed a similar question I would like to have an answer to
It's something I could look at including in my StartTomTom app (see www.BlownFuze.org), but obviously that would only work for TomTom. Is that worth pursuing, do you think?
Cheers,
Steve.
I'd like it
TomTom is for me the most important program to keep always on top.
You might try using WkTask. It keeps all of your running programs visible in a tray, just like with the Windows taskbar on your Desktop. If an app gets minimized, you can just tap on its icon to bring it back up. You can also customize the behavior of the X button per application (X to minimize certain apps, X to close others), as well as a host of other options.

That might be an option when something else won't work, I'll give it a try if other solutions are not possible, thanks
I've done some initial research on how TomTom interacts with the dialer when making/receiving calls.
It appears that if using bluetooth, it all operates just as you would hope - the screen stays on, and it drops back to TomTom. However, if you aren't using bluetooth, then the normal behaviour of the screen switching off after a few seconds kicks in, and once the call is finished, it leaves TomTom minimised in the background.
Is it this latter behaviour that people have an issue with?
Cheers,
Steve.
The ideal way should be when accepting a call, the screen immediately switches to TomTom so you don't miss any navigation. On the other hand, you can't really use the in-call options .
My phone is connected through bluetooth and in my memory it switches back to TomTom after a call is ended, so that's correct.

[Q] one touch recorder and dialer in background

Hi,
I am looking for a recorder app and a dialer that work in background (specifically, with no soft keys available).
I want to use these on my touch pro (raphael) where I need to keep the dialer and recorder mapped to a hardware key and be able to access them without having to unlock the phone. Now I have done the key mapping etc but the problem is when I activate them, they pop out with a windows softkey, thru which the phone can be accessed while still in locked state.
I need something that has no visible windows (or any other keys) apart from say disconnect, stop recording etc. so once i am done, the phone quietly goes back to locked state.
any pointers?
You could get Resco Audio Recorder. It has a setting to record all phone calls. I use it, and it works fine. You don't need to futz around with any buttons during a call. It does use a lot of RAM once it's loaded, but it doesn't use any cpu time in the background and doesn't affect performance. It's also a really good voice recorder (much better than the htc one). Try out the demo and see if you like it (I think it costs around 10 bucks).
