[Q] Barcode Scanner and JPU. Who can help. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some people, including me, have problems with the barcode scanners on jpu. I attached a logcat file, i recorded while opening barcode scanner and it fc't.
Can someone with experience in that take a look and hopefully recognize what happens?

You need to install a new jpu kernel. The one that works 100% for me is voodoo advance 5 ver 1.1....you can try the other ones but read them carefully to see if it fixes camera apps or mounting problems
Written using grafitti on a Palm VIIx with 8 megs of ram and overclocked to 32mhz!

The thing is that it was working on fresh installation of hamster's rom just about half an hour ago, and I didn't change the kernel, but it still stopped working.

Just do it. What can you loose other then 30 mins to disable lagfix then turn on again after kernel update. But hey if you don't want it fixed don't do it, I ain't getting payed to fix your problems

Your advise didn't help, but thank you anyway. I have reflashed Jim's rom and barcode scanner works again. But remembering that last time I flashed this same rom and barcode scanner stopped working after a few reboots, this time everything is working and there are no new kernels our anything like that involved. So, this problem is real mystery for me and many other users.

Same for JPX. After few minutes before the installation it didn't work anymore. Somebody know something new about that?

You don't need to use lagfix with voodoo kernel, out will serve you as CWM with 2e. I use that kernel for improving battery life and for making camera apps working, so, there are no obligations in using voodoo kernel. By the way - I use latest v69 of advanced voodoo kernel now, no problems with camera apps.

Install Astro File Manager. Then open it, hit Menu, hit Preferences, and Enable Browser Downloads.
After running Logcat I noticed that this was missing a file. /system/etc/dbus.conf
I don't know what it does, but Logcat complained about it often. I think this may cause 'battery life' to not be as well, but it didn't seem to have any issues. I am uploading another new one right now that has this file. It didn't get pulled when I pulled the system so I copied over the one from Obsidian and the Logcat stopped complaining about it.
I attached dbus.zip for those of you that don't want to redownload the ROM and want to 'fix' this. Just unzip it and put dbus.conf in /system/etc via adb push or root explorer.
If you aren't sure if you need it, check your /system/etc folder in root explorer and see if dbus.conf is there. If it isn't, add it. I didn't notice any issues other than logcat complaining with this file's absence.
is it deodexed?

Full fix for i9000/Darky 2.2.1 roms on T959

First off I gotta say thanks to Jellette, Eugene, and all of Team Whiskey for their awesome work making roms and kernels.
I thought this fix deserved its own thread so it won't get lost for future reference.
Included fixes: GPS, WIFI, Language, and the Soft Reboot fix by Eugene.
These .zip's are flashable through CWM
If you are running Darkys latest 9b3 rom use the Darky.Pack.zip
If you are running a stock I9000 rom use the I9000.Pack.zip
It works for me using the manual way. (pushing files using file explorer)
Again thank you!
how is the battery on darky?
Is this confirmed to get the GPS working?
Yes this is confirmed working and no idea on battery life since I haven't used Darkys rom for more than a few hours.
I flashed through clockwork and gps is still a no go for me on darkys.

Edit - I take that back, flashing should work just fine.

Add this to the OP bro, and in advanced editing change the title to full fix for all 2.2.1 I9000 Roms.
Flash for GPS, WIFI, Language, Soft Reboot fix [by Eugene] of any 2.2.1 stock rom - This flash along with Eugenes original flash will break the functionality of custom roms like darkys due to the services.jar not being correct.

Would someone, who is running Darky, just start a Darky thread? I see tons of Darky posts in all these other developer's threads, or in a GPS fix thread.
Just make a Darky thread, then post all your questions, answers and observations on Darky there; instead of cluttering up/de-railing other threads
Jellette,
Your post above sounds like you are saying flashing this AND Eugene's service.jar will break i9000 2.2.1 custom roms. Thought you need to flash/push both fixes, or your combo zip a few posts above?
one more qu. Could we push the fix files into the rom's zip before flashing.

need a developer to look into this debug log.

Hi all.
I am currently using the latest version of Slick2X-F 4.1 606 ril.
I think i have found out why my phone reboots spontaneously sometimes (2 reboots a day and sometimes more depending on where i am)
It happens when switching from 3G + WIFI, this leads me to think it's a error in the WIFI driver / 3G /H or we need a kernel patch.
I have tried all basebands and now i am using the newest and 606 ril.
Could a developer please take a look at this log.
http://xwb.dk/android_debug.log
I know it says kernel panic but the question is why it goes into kernel panic, i am a skilled Linux administrator but i can't figure out why.
I hope this helps others which is currently in the same situation.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
I dont know much about this, but have you tried a different kernal?? to see if this still happens??
If it is the kernal that is causing the problem surely everyone else using that rom + kernal would be experiencing the same.

I catch kernel panic when my OX2 automatically switches from 3G/H to WIFI i have just tried to switch off WIFI and i didn't catch kernel panic for a whole day, sometimes it did it 2 - 3 times a day.
I have also tried to shutdown facebook sync, because i read in the debug log sometimes about sync, that could also be the key i am not sure.

Need help installing Rom...

Now sorry for posting, you probably get real annoyed with n00bs asking this all the time... But I was wondering for CM7 could I simply follow this guide-
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide when my phone is on 2.3 Official
Or would I need to go back to the froyo bootloader and do it from there...
Also I have used CM7 (LG Optimus One) for a long time and I am looking for a change i.e MIUI! If I'm on stock gingerbread could I just follow this guide-
http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk/content/getting-started.php
As I would prefer to flash MIUI over CM7.
Thanks for your Help!
You can do either bud, but going from froyo ensures a clean installation with a clean bootloader, flash stock I9000XXJPU, then flash Speedmod Kernel k12c (froyo) make sure CM7 is on your internal SD card, boot into recovery (vol up + home + power) , mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, its always best to install a kernel cleaning script too but not essential, then flash CM7 and Viola! Let me know how you get on bud

Hey bud you need to use the terminal emulator on your phone and run this command

Then make sure your phone is completely horizontal taking into account the little bump we have at the bottom of our phones, so you need to make it completely flat then press start, once done then reboot

flash rc1 via CWM? weird... i flash my rc1 using SUT software as the file was in .nbo then start flashing rc2 via CWM. i wouldnt dare to flash rc2 straight because from my opinion, rc1 is a base firmware and therefore i think its best and play safe to go a long way rather to be sorry.

It's probably the kernel problem. Just like mine, but I'm using MIUI, MIUI kernel 1.9.30 has the same bug, the latest kernel (1.10.21) fix the camera and work again.
Just like deatbearer said, you've to flash stock ROM or Andro-ID RC2 or MIUI 1.10.21.
Thought a lot about purchasing this mobile as it known having issues with camera, however decided to get it.
Got this phone few hours back, verified at the spice outlet whether camera is working or not, was working there.. Back to office and camera got frozen, showing black screen...
In the mean time, was playing with screen (live wallpapers) and suddenly camera application got invoked (not sure how) & working fine - able to take snaps ... again after 30 mins..i tried camera and again it start showing black screen....
Upgraded to gingerbread from spice site... and camera is good now... not sure how to fix the camera if goes black again & i didn't do anything earlier to fix it... it was all by itself switching to cooperative & non-cooperative modes ...

Thank you very much for the advice. But where can I download the kernel or do you have the link to download. One more thing, besides kernel update do I have to flash stock ROM too and how to flash it? Sorry I'm not so good at this. So beginner I am. Thank you very much.

Yes, I think you have to flash that ROM. Just like you flash your CM7, use Andro-ID RC2.
was getting a lot of camera problems on stock firmware,
so flashed it with RC2... never had the problem again
Was working Fine on MIUI too
now using CM7 Still Working
