how to change boot screen image

Hi Ivan
i using xda 2s with ivan rom and i don't like when i soft reset it's got 4 colour and boot very slow and after boot it said contact error .
i would be appreciate it if someone could help he about that..

I'm afraid you've got a crashed ppc in your hands; the 4 colour screen is a serious fault. Did it show up after upgrading? If yes you've got to perform a hard reset (you'll loose all installed software). If this won't work then you've got to flash it again.

The four-colour screen is a normal part of the WM5 ROMs, not a serious fault. Every ROM I've tried has it.

Mine has the boot screen too and it is perfectly normal.

i guess when the 3color screen appears on a smartphone then it really means your smartphone has a SERIOUS PROBLEM, but on a ppc on wm5 its normal, though unsightly...
back to the topic, i have helmi's AKU3.0 1.2 beta, and after much clicking and stylus pressing i still can't change welcomehead.96.png ... i guess all attributes already checked: hidden, archive, readonly, system and ROM... so no way to change the splash screen short of compiling your own rom?

Lucky for me that I was successful in changing the welcomehead.96.png. Helmi's Rom is really nice, but there is one thing I don't like is the welcomehead.96.png made by himself. So I change the one of my own. It's simple: Use File Manager to overwrite the original file by yours, not using Resco Explorer. Remember to modify your image to 320x320

My boot image
I have been looking around google images and finally found a nice image which works good on landscape and protrait modes. I flipped it, tinted blue and resized to 320x320, and reduced to an 8-bit pallete.

I guess that you must have changed the size of your picture into a 320-320 png image. I did do exactly what I posted earlier. For warning, my device ask me to confirm the risk when replacing the original image in ROM. Just OK and then softreset, then I was successful. Remember to uncheck the read-only attribute of the original image.

any more designs? i like the one made by Brazilian Joe and am currently using it

hehehe what i meant is i finally changed my splash screen to what i want...
now i enjoy my soft-resets :lol:

4 colours
Hi, i see that it is possible to change your boot image. But can some1 tell me if it is also possible to change the 4 colours? (i'm using Helmi's ROM)

any more designs guys? cos I get a little bit bored with the original MS one...

Guys, where is the location to put the boot image? i tried finding highs and lows in the pda, i even searched it.
edited: Guys, i tot it supposed to replace the 3 colour stripes? I manage to change and it turns out to be changing the WM5 Green screen and not the 3 stripe? Is the 3 stripe colour unchangable?

If some crazy bytecode wizard found those colors on the boot rom and changed them into 4 beautiful shades ranging from blue to white, that would rock... But finding them might be insanely difficult.

Change Log V2 to V3:

Congrats! This is an outstanding addition to our Fuze. I just have one question before I install. Are the graphics still in development or is the screen shot somehow distorted by the software you used to make the screen shots?? I don't want to complain, you guys have worked hard on this, but on the screen shot it looks like the graphics on the black version need some twicking. I'm kinda OCD when it comes to this stuff. Again, thanx for sharing.

it looks cleaner on device. i used mymobiler to make the pics and they look crazy when they turn out to look at.
i promise it looks a lot better on device than these pics

i finally got this damn pocket shield to work and now i see this...
i guess i could use this in conjunction with that...
the layout of the slide to unlock your showing here looks a lot more user friendly for sure.

this is not his development (AFAIK) - this is the code from Touch HD
it shouldn't disable any physical buttons

1) In both packages there are some PNG files that are named BMP. So... shouldn't they be turned to normal BMP?
2) In the "black" cab package you have some files MORE than once! (and I mean the same file for the same location!) It's a bit messed up eh?

just installed on my fuze and all is working well.. i also disabled the 3 second delay in ringtone with tweaks2k2 so im happy.
gonna update the cab and remove the unnecessasary files?

we have done alot, if we do anymore so far it will not work like it is now
if there is duplicate files in my cab i will look at it and fix it tonight after work.

it changes the answer and ignore bbuttons to a slider kinda like what a_c did in his s2u2 app.

the curtain is in the black version as well.
the battery ggague is there for the dialer screen you need to enable it by regedit.

I've installed this on my Sprint TP and it appears to work fine. The only gripe I have is that it has "Green" highlight bars on the dialer screen and the rest of the highlight bars in TF3D are "Yellow"
Is there a way to change those easily?

Hello herg, the answer and end button are not disabled when i get a call, i can still us them, is anyone else having this problem, i have done several soft resets and power downs, but no luck. really love it and the graphics, im using aruppenthal's rom

Couple of points I would love to change, if you could advised me how to:
1. your vista orb gives a list of apps, ok just realize it is picking up the apps from program list I created (so if I arrange my list to have the ones I want to show up then they will be in the list when I press the ORB...cool
2. ok then my next (first since the first was not a question at all , is their a way to cut the list down to 6 apps showing instead of 7 (the last app covers the ORB - see screenshot) unless it is possible to move the whole popup upwards above the SPB3 taskbar? (would be great if the Vista ORB was visable and we could tap on it again to close the menu)
3 (2) is it possible to have the Program tab show when first clicking on programs instead of the SPB Menu tab.
EDIT: actually looking at your screenshots, the popup menu is suppose to popup above the taskbar, my setup seems to be different (and yes I did DL & Install the VGA version onless the DL files were mixed up)

I've heard that you should leave your SpbMobileShellLoc.zip intact - that's where the language settings are.

Yes there is a file to remove the side bar.
The file is "All sans side bar"

It's a skin for SPB Mobile Shell 3
When you have install SPB MS3, install the cab of wmseven and if you want the black version overwrite the files in your ppc with the files of black version

Thanks for the Reply Apothehouse, but for number 2 I think you might have misunderstood me, I know that button will soft reset but that is not what I meant to close I meant to close your menu popup (so what I mean I click on the Vista Orb icon to open your menu and then click on your Visat Orb again to close it if I decide not to use it) but when you look at me screenshot the last program in the menu covers the Vista Orb.

Oh sorry, but it's only for 6 shortcuts and not 7. Look my screen 2 post before

Thanks apothehouse, is their a reason then mine is showing 7 shortcuts as can been seem from the right side of the menu it ends above the taskbar so I don't understand why this is happening.

Hello, I have recooked the 21193 ROM, which includes the timebomb fix. No beta warnings, stable, and fast. This update doesn't add any new features and still retains the bugs from 21193 build. The update has been supplied to fix the timebomb. You can continue using 6.5 for as long as you want ​
The ROM is now just bare bones - this means only what comes with the build, no extra applications (you will have to install yourself). The timebomb is 100% fixed, and more stable than the last versions. The bugs are still here, but I am working on a new ROM soon!​

In allot of ways I like 6.5 better than 6.0, 6.1. It seems pretty stable, the main problem is being able to invoke the slide keylock using the red button. That would be sweet.

Do any of you ROM cookers know what program invokes the device lock. I think it is the screen lock dll but how could you start that using a shortcut?
I searched through the registry and can't find where it is at. I think the program relock in startup is the actual program but not sure how to start it apart from the today plugin or the left softkey when you are in the startmenu.

i'm gonna try out the Windows 6.5 now. Can't wait to see it in action.

Thanks for breathing new life in to my old trusted Palm Treo 750!
So far so good...but we'll see what heavy daily use does to it.
One thing I noticed is that when typing in a phone number you need to activate the numeric keys first using the white button.
Something others have already noted is that the red phone button doesn't put the phone in standby...
Edit: For some reason I can't connect to the 3G network...I can use the phone to call. Other people can call me, but it won't connect to the internet. Weird. Might have to go back to 6.0 just for this

I need to know how to update my phone with this file.
i've got wm 6.5 installed but it's still got the timebomb
please help. can i use the same rom updating utility used to initially update from 6.1 to 6.5?

Here's a short guide:
1) Download the file - CHEEIMG.nbh
2) Copy the file to your SD card and re-insert the card
3) Keep the miniSD slot on the right side of your device unlatched
4) Press and hold the media key (oval button on left of device)
5) Use your stylus, and touch and hold the tiny reset dot at the miniSD latch
6) Hold these together until you see the red/blue/green bootloader flash
7) You should come to a gray screen with blue lettering, flash your phone

I am aware of these issues, and if I can I will fix them, but no promises unfortunately. I'm not sure about your internet problem (I am connected to 3G right now), you might try a reflash. You can also try flashing another radio from this page to fix the problem: http://www.crc.id.au/files/xda/Radio_Roms/

How long should it stay on this screen for??, been about 5 mins.

well i soft reset it and it started up ok but still with timebomb.
should the sd card be blank with only the one file on it?
edit: so i took a cleaned sd card and put only the CHEEIMG.nbh file onto it and held the media button while pushing the soft reset button and it came to the same screen that i described above. What's actually supposed to happen after this point?
am i doing something wrong?
FINAL EDIT: YAY, figured it out. my SDcard wasn't formatted to FAT32. it's updating now. thnx for the help hehe.

there are still a few bugs in Windows Mobile 6.5 but like pretty much everyone is saying, it's freaking awesome.
I think the only request i'd have would be for the text messaging to have text size options, as i can't find the settings for it anywhere on the phone. As well as i'm seeing some random characters in front of each chat line within text message conversations including a series of squares.
Oh, and the battery bar isn't shown on the top bar. other than that and a few other tiny issues, it's an awesome OS.

Is there a way to patch the ROM so holding the red button activates the device lock? I don't know maybe I keep asking too much here.
Very cool ROM though.

if you hold the White button (bottom left hand button) and the red button it will lock it. at least it does for me. it may not put it in standby mode, but i just set mine so that after a minute it automatically turns the screen off.

I'm using Wisbar Advance Desktop 4.0 (Download link will come with the design) and several graphics-tools for the images.

And when completed will be the theme?

All right, here are some new Screenshots of the theme:
Improved Usage, added some icons on the Desktop and added the typical "time popup"
Finished the start menu with an useful "shutdown-dropdownmenu"
Added the Control Panel (should work with nearly any device)

as far as i know, there is no Wisbar Advance Desktop 4.0.... 2.5.4.16 is the last.
But ... maybe i am wrong

@FranzB: Yes, for sure you're right The design will come for Wisbar Advande Desktop 2.5.x I mixed it up with Wisbar Advance Thank you for correcting me.

Okey, it's going forward... here are some new screenshots:
Here are two screens of the desktop, as you can see the link to "Gadgets" is new, also the Mail Box Gadget is now added. I found a new wallpaper, can be used optional.
The window "Gadgets" is looking really good
The known "Computer window" and "Network" where you can toggle your connections. There is a little bug with the free memory information of the internal memory... I have no idea how to fix it
Actually, the design is finished as far as it lacks only a few windows. (<--Google translate ) I think the Preview will come out on Friday so hold on

The first preview will come for VGA-Devices (480x640)
It should work with WQVGA devices, but you won't be able to see the whole desktop, because WQVGA uses 240x400.
I'm on it doing versions for QVGA, WQVGA, VGA and WVGA devices, but it'll finish the VGA version first...

Hi it's very nice! I didn't know it was WVGA? It fits well on my screen.
Can't wait for updates. Here is my wishlist of changes:
Highlighted image of start button for start button.
When I activate wifi, icon on taskbar doesnt light up green so need image .
Ability to be able to move the gadgets around the desktop.
Classic windows 7 wallpaper
Links to the applications. Get errors at moment. Or maybe we have to this ourselves as each phone is different.
When i go to My Computer, my C drive shows up as 0MB out of 0MB!
I'll let you know of any more problems later.
But so far so good it looks great! Haven't had any blue screens of death either! Thanks for making this. I tried making one but gave up when I realised Wisbar Advance Desktop is no longer being developed meaning I couldn't implement every feature i wanted into my theme

Sry, I'll develop skins for Touch devices only But you could ckeck out the SmartToolkit 1.00 RC09.

WiFi icon on the taskbar: It's not the WiFi indicator, it's the Signal-Strengt off your phone I'll create an menu, which will apper on tap. (Final Version 1.0)
Move Gadgets: Hmm. I had to build those gadgets as Docks. They only can be moved in "Author mode"

Links to the applications: Yes, most of them fit to every Windows Mobile phone but some are adapted to my phone. You'll have to link some of your specific programs on your on, but I could create some Graphics... Just let me know what you need

Updates sound good but problem is I installed the EN Cab but it installs a 'Programs' folder in my what i call 'C:/ Drive' (phone memory) so I had to manually place the theme file in the theme folder in my program files etc. I clicked start button and saw it lit up so saw it worked but problem is everything else is messed up Is this the english version? If so, everything is still in German and also, the C Drive and storage card don't show any bars in My Computer. Are you able to just post the theme files (Not CAB). Would like to see if fixes the problem. Thanks

Okey, sorry that I messed your Device up :S This was my firs .cab
And as long we are just in the "Developers Preview" the most things will be in German only, sorry. But as I've posted yesterday, the final Version will come out end of this week. In this Final Version the whole theme will be in english
All theme files are uploaded to RAPIDSHARE
Just one thing: Tozzy, could you send me the stucture of the internal phone memory of an english OS? This would help me to create some working .cabs for english devices, thanks.
